Defense or Offense Chiefs This Season | NFL News
About this episode
The Chiefs’ defense is poised to outshine the offense this season, with rookies like R Mason Thomas and Mansoor Delane set to elevate a unit that’s already been outperforming the struggling offense for three years. While the offense may not replicate its explosive past under Eric Bieniemy, a stronger run game could provide stability. The real story? A balanced, gritty defense aiming for top-eight status — and Mahomes’ team might just need it to win.

It's September 7, and if ill news today starts now, AI powered and always on. Alright, let's top chiefs. The big question on the table is whether the offense or the defense will be the stronger unit by the end of the season. Last year, the defense was pretty solid, ranking 6th and points allowed and 10th in total yards. The offense, on the other hand, was a bit further down the list, 21st and points and 20th in yards. This defense has actually been outperforming the offense in those key stats for the last three years. Now if you rewind to two years ago, before a fence of coordinator aired, BeAnime made his initial move, the offense was absolutely lights out. They were first in points and yards, while the defense was in the middle of the pack. That was the last time we saw the offense really carrying the team. But looking ahead, I'm still leaning towards the defense being the better unit this season. You got some rookies coming into their own, especially under defensive coordinator, Steve's baggnaulow.
Guys like Armas and Thomas and Mansour Delane could really elevate that defense, potentially pushing them into the top 10, maybe even top 8 by the time. It's all said and done. The offense might not be putting up those eye-popping numbers were used to seeing from Patrick Mahomes. However, the development of a strong run game should provide a more consistent baseline for them compared to the last few seasons. It's about finding that balance and making sure both sides of the ball are contributing effectively.
