Welcome back to the Unbearable Sports Podcast.
I'm your host, Brad.
Make sure to like and subscribe if you're out there on YouTube.
But also, rate that show five stars everywhere that you get your podcast and download it.
If you have search for unbearable sports and as always, we're brought to you by our friends
at FanDuel, where you can go out to FanDuel right now and place a bet on the bulls to win
or go to the Eastern play-in game at plus 10,000.
So if you believe in the bulls, you can make some pretty good money.
But if you're like me and you just hope that they get as bad of the pick as possible
and they can draft in the top, you know, top three, then you know, we'll see that.
But yeah, we'll see what our bulls do.
But also, thank you, FanDuel for sponsoring the show.
And today, we are going to be breaking down defensive free agents for our beloved Chicago Bears.
I got a lot of pictures, a lot of graphs for us to go through.
And I also think that it's important to know kind of the current state of the bears
because with the Max Crosby trade going and it's done.
So because of that, now we look to see what we can do on defense.
Now we look to see who can we add.
And we saw a lot of spots.
I think that when you look at it across the board, we don't have a safety.
Like a single safety on the roster.
So we're going to be talking about safeties primarily.
We'll end the show talking more about that defensive line.
But the way that I see it, you need a starter at linebacker unless they believe
that action Jackson is the guy at linebacker.
You need safeties, you need two of them at least.
And then also two, you need at least a defensive tackle.
Because I think when you look at the entire team, another question mark
is where does Shemart Turner fit?
Is he a detackle?
Is he a defensive end?
That's one of the little wild cards to just keep in mind as we approach pre-agency
as we approach the NFL draft as well.
I've always said Shemart Turner is more of a defensive end.
I like it more at that position.
I think he fits Dennis Allen's system more as a defensive end.
And we saw that in the last three games that he played before he unfortunately
got injured.
But I still think defensive end for him.
So before we get into this, I want to kind of talk a little bit about what we were discussing
yesterday about the center position.
Because I do know that yet again, I go out onto the internet and I see what people say
about Garrett Bradbury.
I see what people have to say and not a lot of people are very, very confident.
And I'm not here to tell you that Garrett Bradbury is the greatest center of all time and
he's amazing.
But at the time, so on yesterday's show, but what I mentioned is that Garrett Bradbury
is solid.
He's a solid starting center.
You can get better.
You can get worse.
And with Garrett Bradbury, this gives you flexibility.
You can draft a center and you can bring somebody in.
That's what it appears that the bears are most likely going to do.
That's what I would do.
But also too, there's that impending wave like people need centers right now.
And the fact that you got a starting caliber center, right?
Whether where he's at and the in the ranking of centers, he's a starting center in the
league.
You have a veteran that can help Caleb Williams out and then you can draft somebody.
But we saw something today, Conor McGovern gets signed for four years, $13 million a
year at the center position.
He was the only other like, quality starting center besides Linda bomb who's going to
break the bank.
So if you're looking at what centers are going for right now, Creed Humphrey just went,
you know, 18 million Jenkins and Jergens at 17 million, Conor McGovern is now at that
three spot at or the fourth highest paid center now at 13 million.
And then you have Eric McCoy and Wattenberg at 12 million.
And then you have Tyler Beodish at 10 million.
I want to just kind of clarify that and I want to bring that up specifically just because
Tyler Beodish.
He wasn't telling you that he was going to be a world beater or this crazy center.
But the dude is, you know what, number seven in highest paid centers, he's on the top
10 center of the league.
And I want to just bring that up as why and I just want to highlight why the Garrett Brad
Berry trade was such a good deal is you got a starting caliber center.
Do I want him to be better?
Yes.
I want him to be better.
But I like the position and you'll hear it when we talk about the defensive side.
The reason why I also like it too is because now you have more flexibility on the defense.
I'm going to bring this up where I like the idea of just bring in solid starters because
you have two second round picks.
You're probably going to get that compensatory pick for in the third.
So you're going to have two seconds, two thirds, one first.
So you can add some pretty darn good players that don't have to start right away.
And I think that should be the approach that the Bears end up taking.
But the last little bit before we get into the defense Taylor Decker right now spot
rack hasn't projected to get $21 million.
Now they all their equations are based on similar cops with age and production and other
things like that with Decker, the thing that I want to really, really highlight in this
sense is what Greg Gabriel posted that Decker's contract had over 31 million in guarantees
and there were two years left.
So he should be able to get a fairly cheap deal depending on what the guarantees were
for 2026.
So yet again, we'll just have to see because the guy's already got a good payday.
I could see him wanting to go to Chicago.
He really liked Ben Johnson and also because he's got a lot of that payment that the lions
are going to be paying them.
Why not one year get him if we can get him fairly cheap, not at that 21 price tag.
If we can get about 10 million, if we can get 5 million, that would be the big deal
that I would absolutely love.
So now flipping over, let's talk about this defense finally where we have 26 million dollars
in cap space, like I previously mentioned, you know, the out there, they're saying 26,
28, right?
But that's what we really need to know.
And so keep this in mind with all those holes that the bears do have have open.
We need to add players and you know, it's going to be difficult.
So let's first start out with our biggest need, which is safety, biggest need mainly
because we don't have anybody.
And if I'm going through this list, there's a lot of safeties out there.
So those on YouTube, you can see the gigantic list and also the projected contracts.
This is all from a spot rack.
So lots and lots of great information out there.
It was easiest for me to just get a massive list from from their piece of what they think
people are going to end up getting.
Now at the safety position, my whole take on it is if I'm the bears, I like the idea
of bringing back Kevin Byard seems like the bears have been wanting to bring back Kevin
Byard and quite frankly, I have Twitter open right now because I frequently when I record
shows, it seems like some news, some, somewhat happens.
So I have this purposely up on my other screen so I can just refresh and see because I still
feel like the bears want to resign Kevin Byard.
He's projected to get around $8 million.
He might be asking, I think he could maybe fetch nine, nine and a half maybe even because
he's look good.
He's a veteran pro baller and that's why I'd love to see him back.
That's that's my first piece, but also to I'd love to see C.J. Garner Johnson back.
It all estimations are you can maybe get like around $2 million.
Now keep in mind, the bears are already at over 53 people on their team.
So everyone that they sign, don't think of it as a true $2 million cap hit, right?
So if you're doing the math in your head and you, you add it up, C.J. Garner Johnson,
being added to the team, most like it means someone else who was probably getting a little
over a million dollars is now off the team.
So really it's about a million dollars plus an added to that cap space.
And the reason why I like C.J. Garner Johnson is because of the utility guy.
The bears used a lot of dime defense where they have four corner backs essentially out
there.
C.J. Garner Johnson, we know can play the slot.
And do I love it?
Did I love him in the slot?
Not really just with the man coverage, but I like the idea of him potentially being
even the strong safety.
And then you go into it similar to like a Bradberry experience where if you have your free
safety and your strong safety, now if you go into the draft, maybe a manual McNeil Warren
is there.
He's thinking him in his there that two really good safeties or you see who you end up
getting.
I don't know why, but Bud Clark out of TCU always comes to mind.
He's just like in the back up like subconscious of like the bears are going to get bud, bud
Clark.
So we'll see.
We'll see what ends up, but it maybe he's going to be the, you know, end of the third round
the compensatory pick that they end up getting him.
But that's one little approach that I like the bears going after and doing now there's
a lot of other safeties that are available to that.
I really like that.
I'll just kind of highlight real quick.
I like Jalen Thompson because first off, I really liked, oh gosh, the guy that was on
the Rams that just got the big deal cam curl.
I like most bears fans, I don't like to just go with the grain with a lot of stuff, but
the reason why everybody loved cam curl was he was perfect for Dennis Allen system because
he normally likes a deep safety like Kevin Byard, but then he likes another safety that
can play in the box and kind of be that little tyrant Matthew role.
Jalen Thompson's more of a deep safety and he's been very, very good at his time with
Carol with the Cardinals.
And yet again, I like the idea of signing good players, Thompson has been a good player
throughout this time.
He's nothing amazing, but he's just a good, he's just a good player, right?
Simply put.
And then the other person to, I'd be interested in taking a flyer on is Reed Blankenship.
Supposedly, right, with the estimations of contracts, Reed Blankenship from the Eagles
is a safety that's 27 years old.
And he's played some of that primarily a free safety role.
He's coming off his worst season, but before that, he's been a, he's been a good, good
safety in the league.
And when you see this giant drop, where now he's always been a good coverage guy.
And now he drops to 97th out of 98, uh, safeties when it comes down to coverage grade.
That seems like an outlier in the opposite way where still a very good run defender, very
good pass rush like that was all there.
So I'm like, what happened with their defense?
And that's where you should get Dennis Allen and Ben Johnson to go.
Did somebody figure something out that they could attack Blankenship, right?
I don't want to break down Blankenship tape.
I don't have enough time in the day to break down Blankenship tape.
But I think if you're Ben Johnson and, you know, Ryan Poles and their pro scouting department,
look at Blankenship.
Why was he a 32.7 PFF coverage grade?
Because why do they have this big drop?
Because you might be able to get them at a fairly solid deal.
And you could get somebody that becomes a very high upside starter at safety.
But just kind of looking through some other people, just kind of rattling off some names.
Nick Cross is interesting.
I've seen some people project him at 11 million, um, at spot rack.
They're projecting him at six.
He's more of a box safety.
I don't love that as much as some.
Um, but yeah, more big hitter in the box.
Don't hate it, but don't love it.
Um, Jabril Peppers to me from Pittsburgh.
He just seems like he's lost his tattoo.
He was always a big athlete.
So, um, kind of out on that as well.
Just going through the little, the little list of everything.
Oh, another one, Kobe Bryant projected to get 14 from spot rack.
And he's someone for me.
I, I'm kind of staying away.
I feel like what you saw with some safeties went like Geno Stone.
Geno Stone was with Mike McDaniel at the Ravens.
And he looked really, really good and he was playing really, really good.
He goes over to the, um, to the Bengals and just falls off the face of the earth and
does not look good.
Kobe Bryant is underneath Mike McDaniel.
As soon as McDaniel comes in, he says, Hey, this guy who they were all ready to cut,
they move him over to safety.
And now we look great.
Now that's awesome for him.
But at the same time, Mike McDaniel is a wizard when it comes down to, uh, you know,
when it comes down to cornerbacks, it's like, you know, it, it's like, you know, signing
a offensive lineman from the 49ers, not named Trent Williams, where you go, okay, you
will all dominate in his system, but are you going to be good in my system?
That's where he's projected to get $10 plus million and it just gets me nervous, paying
those big bucks for someone that has a decent amount of risk tied to him.
Um, other players too, Jacquon brisker, I think the bears are going to be out on Jalen
Hawkins with the Patriots.
I like, um, I like him potentially and yeah, around eight million, um, from spot rack
out there and just going through, I don't mind resigning even like a Elijah Hicks, just
because I thought that, um, towards later on, we saw more and more playing time with them
being that dime defender blank and ship projected seven million.
That's what they also have it over the cap too.
Um, but yeah, going through this, that's kind of my overall, like, I agree with, uh, some
of these contract numbers, Kyle Dugger, I'm out on, uh, but yeah, that, that's the safety
position.
But let me know if there's someone that I didn't cover that you really like at the safety
position down in the comments or someone that you really are hoping that they sign now
at this time, this is the difference between the offensive show and the defensive show.
I feel like I was done with the offensive show already, but we're already just starting.
We're going into the cornerbacks next and the cornerbacks.
There's a couple of things that I want to talk about with this and I just want to highlight
it.
We can kind of go quick through this.
I don't think they signed someone to a big money deal at the cornerback position.
I think what the bears want, because yet again, the people they interviewed the most at
the combine corner now, I'm not saying that the first round pick is going to be a corner.
Their second round pick is going to be a corner, but look for the bears to go corner in
the draft and add somebody back in there because you have the out David, you know, not
Al Davis, Al Harris, Academy out there.
So why not say, Hey, we have one of the best coaches in the league when it comes down
to secondary.
Let's take a shot at some of these people.
So that's why I'm out on a lot of these corners.
I don't want a lot of these corners.
I don't want to spend a lot of money on this because take advantage of having a great
great position coach.
I don't want a lot to tailor.
I get it that he's played with Dennis Allen, but $15 million for that guy.
No, no, thank you at all.
And two, this kind of reminds me of like, when you have a coach like this, you could even
kind of dangle a carrot to some person that's trying to turn their career around.
That might have been a first round pick that you say, Hey, we can make you better.
We can try and turn you into something.
Now I look at like a Greg Newsom, but he's projected to get about $9 million.
And then also on the other side of the coin, you look at even more of these players.
There's just a lot of corn yet again, a lot of corners that are out there, but there's
a couple of people that shine through one, March on Latamore.
Now March on Latamore, knee injury, ACL laid in the year.
That's where I'm kind of like, OK, I know I talked about them with Dennis Allen underneath
down Dennis Allen has looked great.
So if you're really just like, Hey, we want to move on from Tyrick Stevenson.
We need a veteran.
We want to bring them in March on Latamore's the guy, depending on the injury because it
seems like as soon as corners hit 30, there are a lot of sezms gone.
And so there's a lot of risk.
So I it would have to be a veteran minimum and someone that you could move on from if he's
just not there.
So then the main one, right?
The main one that I'd be looking out for is Roger McCreary from the Rams.
This is a former Titan and with the Titans.

Kind of, I don't want to say underperformed, but there was some, I disappointed with them.
He's never been a bad cornerback.
He's never been the person that you can just pick on.
He's just been okay.
You can move on from him.
He's just been a solid starter and that's why I think that he's a perfect person for
Al Davis, Al Davis, Al Davis, Al Davis, Al Harris University, where I think that Roger
McCreary, given the shot when he was traded over to the Rams, he started looking great with
the Rams.
That's why I would out give him a call.
I'd be like, hey, we can bring you in, look what we did with Nishon right, highly drafted
player.
We turned his career around, McCreary, come out here, we can help you out.
Those are really actually the only two that I'd even really kind of consider.
Maybe there's another one that's hidden in the weeds.
Maybe one of them ends up getting cut.
I'm going to refresh my screen again just to see, just to make sure that there's no one
else that I'm missing out there.
But for me, those are some of the main ones that I'm really, really considering at that
cornerback position.
Because again, I think that they're going to probably draft someone with Zae Frazier
coming back with, you know, Charles Smith coming back.
And then also you have Tyrick Stevenson, I think drafting someone just makes sense.
So now let's get in the linebacker, where to me at the linebacker position, re-sign action
Jackson.
Like, I loved him when just how good he was for the Bears, give that man a shot.
And that's where I would love to see the Bears re-sign action Jackson because the man
played.
He was fast and that's what they want at that linebacker position.
They want someone that's fast and also can play the position.
So that's someone that I, that's one where it's like, come on, where's the contract?
I'm refreshing to see, are we going to re-sign them at any point in time?
Because the guy look good, but at the same time, I want to call this out.
Something that I've known throughout the time of covering this team and watching this
team, it's not just as simple as throw the person out there.
There's something that, you know, like, for some reason they were giving it more so
to know a soul, they want to know a soul to be the starter, not Jackson.
And we see this also with Tyrick Stevenson, Tyrick Stevenson, when he was out there, he played
better than a lot of the other corners that were out there, but they didn't want to play
him out there.
And they're watching the tape, they're, they can see that he's playing better, but what's
going on at camp, what's going on behind closed doors, that's not happening.
So hopefully he'll be back, really, really liked him out there.
So hopefully we get to see a signing soon because played very, very well for the Bears.
So we need to start in linebacker because Sewell cannot play the pass.
We could also draft a linebacker as well.
But that's, that's where it leads me to a linebacker that I've really, really liked the
idea of the Bears getting.
Demario Davis, he's 37 years old.
He's old, right?
He's very old for a linebacker, but the man has not slowed down, 88.9 run defense grade
last year, even without Dennis Allen, 70.3 coverage grade.
And if I'm Dennis Allen and Demario Davis is not going to be back with the Saints, all
reports indicate.
So why not give him a call?
Why not try to bring him in?
You could bring him in at a semi decent deal.
And yet again, this is my approach.
This is, this is Brad's approach to this.
I love the idea of bringing in a veteran that can be the starter, but also because of the
amount of draft picks you have.
If you, if you solidify a position where you at least have a decent starter out there,
now that affords you to draft best available.
So you're not having to reach for a defensive tackle, not having to reach for a linebacker
that you know has to start instead.
You can let the board fall to you and like you did last year, and that netted you Colson
Loveland, right?
Yet again, he wasn't the true best player available because that was Kevin Warren, but
he was the next best player, next best football player, safe, like just good at football type
of guy.
Luther Burton, another indication of that and Kalmanon guy, right?
Stuff like that is, is why just fill out the roster.
So to me, DeMario Davis, I really like the idea of them potentially picking them up.
And also to Alex Anzaloni, not only does he have the, the Lions connection with Ben Johnson,
but also before coming over to the Lions, he was under Dennis Allen.
I don't, I wouldn't hate it if the Bears got Anzaloni because he also looks super cool
with, you know, he looks like he's straight from the Witcher for anyone that plays that game.
So, so that like just cool factor, that's out there, right?
But even though I think every, every person with long hair, like long blonde hair like that
should be on the Vikings, but Alex Anzaloni, Alex Anzaloni for me, he's been solid, he's
been good.
And I just am curious the type of deal that he might warrant.
It might just be a two year deal.
He's been solid.
He's really coming to his own the past three years underneath the Lions and really kind
of stepped his game up before he was always kind of the bottom half of the league linebacker.
But yeah, as he got older, he's gotten wiser and he's been playing a lot better.
So to me, I like to at least just have somebody if they think Jackson can be a starter, awesome.
And then you can draft somebody that if they feel comfortable with that, I feel comfortable
with that with the limited snaps and I've seen, but dude was flying.
So to me, that's how I would kind of take it.
But also, if you have your own opinion out there too, like maybe you think that Caleb
Williams is going to be the MVP, you can place some money on that out on our friends
that fan duel at plus 1600, you can get Caleb Williams out there or maybe you think
Jalen Hertz is going to be it at plus 3500.
So make sure to go out to our friends at fan duel and also thank you, fan duel for
sponsoring today's show.
So now the moment you all have been waiting for, let's talk a little bit about this defensive
line, shall we?
So to start things off, every year, it feels like we need detackle and every year defensive
tackle.
Time and time again, always is just clean house and no one ends up, you know, it always
seems like they clean house and it just seems like you can't actually get a defensive
tackle.
So speaking of which, defensive tackle, Colby Wooden from the Packers just got traded
for as a year Franklin.
I'm purposely refreshing just so I don't miss a thing.
But like we were saying, something that I just, you know, in all seriousness, defensive
tackles are quietly a position that frequently gets just absolutely demolished and free
agency and they get super, super big bags.
But this is the deepest I've seen the defensive tackle class B. And we have, keep in mind,
two defensive tackles or two and a half because, you know, we have, you know, we have Shamar
who can play detackle, who can play defensive and both not well yet, but I do believe in
him being a defensive end because he's kind of a, you know, like he just looks way more,
way more confident at the end.
And you did see when he was out there, played a lot better, a lot harder, kind of was
able to set the edge the way that Dennis Allen really wants.
So I want to throw that out there even before we get into defensive ends.
So detackle, this is deep.
So just rattling off the top names from, you know, sorted by last year's salary, Dalvin
Tomlinson, who was cut by the, the Cardinals.
Good player.
You can bring him in instantly someone who's, yeah, he's 32 years old and bring him in.
There's a lot of veterans on this list and bring him in and now you have three defensive
tackles.
Now you feel a lot better about it.
If Anyamada, you have DJ Reader to Juan Jones, John Franklin Myers, who's probably going
to get a pretty good and hefty deal.
I've seen it at right now, spot racks saying about eight million.
I've also seen it go all the way to 12 million, 13 million.
It seems like he's going to be the prize that a lot of people are gone in for.
Then Larry Okejoby, no.
But then just kind of going down, Kalea Campbell, Sheldon Rankins.
There's a lot of just good solid detackles out there.
And so I want to first start out with the one that has probably, this is the most divisive
amongst fans.
But the most splits the fan base the most.
And that's Jonathan Allen, formerly of the Minnesota Vikings.
And Jonathan Allen, what we've seen is this guy has kind of fallen off the face of the
earth.
Like three years, you know, what, four years ago, this guy was a menace for the Washington
commanders and with him and Montess wet and he was looking great.
And then all of a sudden, he started getting feisty and I was looking at this going like,
did he get injured?
Did he have a specific injury?
Because his overall production just fell off and that's what we're just kind of seeing
every time that I would watch the Bears Vikings game.
He was solid, but I'll talk about another Viking person who's available that I like even
more that really, really impressed me when I whenever I would watch the tape.
But Jonathan Allen, the reason why I would like the Bears to sign him.
I'm not saying I'm in love with it or anything like that.
It would be one of those like, you sure about that?
Like, do we feel confident about this?
You would have to get the blessing of Montess sweat to be like, yes, get this guy because
he played with Montess sweat.
They played alongside each other at the at Washington.
And that's when they looked really good.
Also another pro.
He's someone that was released.
So you're able to, you know, not reduce, not get rid of a cop pick when your guys are
then getting signed.
So someone who at least look out for is Jonathan Allen with the connection to, with the connection
to Montess sweat, but moving on another person that I'm actually kind of off on as well.
And that's Kaleis Campbell.
I think every year it's like someone needs to sign Kaleis, we need to sign Kaleis Campbell.
Last year was the first time that age kind of started setting into Kaleis Campbell.
He's 39 years old, which is insane, but I would like it.
I would like it if I like him, but I'm not pounding the table as much as I normally would
be every single year.
Everyone says great, incredible locker room guy, incredible person, six, eight, 282, somebody
that you want in that locker room, somebody first, still first guy off the bus, even though
he's going to be 40.
But man, I do think that he's slowing down a little bit.
I think he's probably questioning retirement.
But wanted to start with two people that I'm just a little bit uneasy about.
And that's because there's a lot of other people and I want to start talking about this
guy because not enough people are David on Yamada, David on Yamada, 33 years old, yet again,
there's going to be a lot of veterans that we can add in.
And the reason why I'm looking at these guys is because you can get these for less than
$5 million, yet again, you don't have unlimited budget, but you have to add all these extra
people in.
That's why I'm not going, I'm not going to just read off like, hey, Sebastian Joseph
today, we're going to get him for $10 million, right?
And that's, that's why I'm not bringing up those types of players because they're projected
to get a lot of money.
And I think that bears are going to have to be very budget conscious when they're going
out here.
Yet again, Ryan Poles still has never restructured a contract and because he's never restructured
a contract, it honestly looks like he's not going to again.
He might just for a little bit of cat flexibility with like a Jotuni, but that's about it.
But on Yamada, Dennis Allen guy and was very good under him.
And then last year with the Falcons, 78.2 overall grade, which is good for what?
Top 10 among defensive tackles.
And then 67.1 pass or grade 74.2 run defense grade.
The guy's good.
He knows Dennis Allen system veteran that can help out out there.
And that's yet again, somebody that you can bring in fairly cheap and transform that defense.
Also, someone that played alongside greedy Jarrett, all the connections keep on coming up.
That's why if I was putting money on it, David on Yamada, I think that the bears are going
to go after David on Yamada, it just makes sense.
Next.
Sheldon Rankins or you know, hey, with the Falcons, maybe Ian Cunningham's like, I know
he likes him, but, but next we have Sheldon Rankins yet again for a lot of similar things.
Somebody that knows the system, he was underneath Dennis Allen for quite some time has played
well.
He's 31 years old.
He's been just getting these one year deals and everywhere he goes, he's been solid 73.2
overall grade last year for the Houston Texans.
Don't like him as much as on Yamada, but somebody that can come in and give you good production
for a relatively, you know, good deal.
So top 20 overall PFF grade when it comes down to D tackles.
And now we're going against some people that I think are just very consistent.
DJ Reader is more of the big boy type of guy.
While the last guys were talking about Sheldon Rankins, hardly 300 pounds, David on Yamada,
hardly 300 pounds, Clayis Campbell, not 300 pounds, Jonathan Allen, hardly 300 pounds.
So yet again, what Dennis Allen likes is he likes the smaller defensive tackle and the
bigger defensive tackle, all of which of that we've been going through smaller detackles
and in this draft, there's a lot of big boys.
There's a lot of nose tackles that the bears can be looking at.
And DJ Reader though is one of the rare veteran nose tackles that the bears could bring
in.
And yet again, everywhere he goes, he's just being a good player.
So I don't mind bringing in a 31 year old D tackle at 335 pounds to be that nose tackle.
And yet again, 68.9 PFF grade.
That is very good, 72.6 patch fresh grade, 61.7 run defense grade.
He's just a good football player.
So to me, DJ Reader is one that I would really like.
And then the next person to Javan Hargrave, I don't know how much he'll help you in the
run side, but this guy yet again, hardly 300 pounds, but it had a 68 grade last year
for the Minnesota Vikings, a 70 pass rush grade and 57.3 run defense grade.
Not get a lot from the run side, but yet again, watching the tape, this man was a menace
against us.
He was destroying Jonah Jackson and toss him aside and just a absolute physical freak
going against him.
And Javan Hargrave, that's why he's someone that I'm also looking out for.
Someone also yet again, released, so would not contribute against that, that compensatory
pick formula.
Let me see if there's anyone else.
No, that's it for the D tackle group.
Like I said, very deep group that lots and lots of veterans.
And that's why to me, I'm not looking to say, you know, bring in a one of the younger
guys here.
Let me load up that little slide real quick that kind of brings it all together where
Sebastian Joseph Day might get around 7 million according to spot, you know, I don't
mind Sebastian Joseph Day as much as like a John, John Franklin Myers was the guy that
I was thinking of the three name people always, always mixed me up.
John Franklin Myers is the one that a lot of bears fans and a lot of just people in general
really like and he's going to be the main guy projected 8 million on spot, rack on
over the cap day.
I like a lot of their numbers.
Right now, new fan duel customers can get up to $300 back in bonus bets every day for
10 days.
Place a tournament bet using the token and if it doesn't win, you'll get up to $300
back in bonus bets every single day for 10 days straight.
You can even mix things up with same game parlays for a shot at a bigger payout.
Fan duel.
It's time to dance.
21 plus in present and select states, bonus bets are nonwithdrawable and expire 7 days
after received.
Tokens are received in increments of one per day.
Let's talk a little bit about these defensive and shall we let me just kind of go through all
these little people out here.
But yet again, let me know down in the comments if there's anyone that you think I might
have not given enough love to or somebody that you absolutely love for the bears to
get.
So now, defensive end, I'm going to say this, I don't be surprised if the bears don't
sign a defensive end in the first three days.
And the reason why I'm not here to tell you, Dio Dengbo is awesome, when they sign
up, I was like, dude, it's guys, yeah, no, and even when we're doing this stuff, I'm
like, some suckers going to pay Dio Dengbo a bunch of money, that sucker was us.
And so when I look at this, if I'm the bears, there's two immediate calls that I'm doing.
And that's it.
And I've said this before with just my overall take, if I'm GM, the way that I'm handling
this off season is I'm just, I have two things, I'm looking at difference makers.
If there's a difference maker, I'm bringing you in.
I'm bringing you in.
I'm calling you.
I'm calling Max Crosby.
What does it take for me to bring Max Crosby over, but I'm not going to break the bank.
Same thing, I'm doing the exact same thing with Trey Hendrickson.
First thing, as soon as that clock, what hits three o'clock, whatever it might be, pick
it up the phone immediately, calling Trey Hendrickson and I'm saying, hey, Trey, how do
you like to play with Dennis Allen again?
The guy's a disruptor when it comes down to the past rush side, 90 PFF grade, and you don't
need a PFF grade to tell you just how disruptive this man has been against the past.
Not much from the run defense side, which yet again, we have not been able to stop, which
is a little frustrating.
But this guy is a past rusher and also he plays on the opposite side of Montez sweat.
Montez can stay on his side, Hendrickson can stay on his side.
You got a formidable duo right there, and I think that that really kind of elevates
it.
What Trey Hendrickson is going to get is a big time question mark because projected out
there from spot rack 25 and a half, and I believe over the cap had him at like 27 or
28.
Quite frankly, that's not awful, and it's not terrible when you're talking about just the
potential level of production you could get.
Now, the thing that gets me nervous is Trey Hendrickson has been pushing to get paid
all this time.
He's finally free from the shackles of the Cincinnati Bangles, the worst ran franchise
in the NFL.
And since now he's free, I could see him being like, I want my money.
Give me my money.
If he starts the conversation with 30 million plus a year, hang up the phone poles, move
onto the next person.
But I would love it if they can just bring it up, call them up, yet again, go for the
big time splash and try to lay in somebody like that.
Yet again, if you look at just the defensive ends, the reason why I said, I wouldn't be
surprised if they didn't sign anybody is because yet again, you have Dio, not good, but
he's coming off an injury unless they're like, you want?
If we get people, we're going to call them.
So then you also have Montess wet, which they're not going to get rid of.
And then you have Austin Booker, I don't want them to get rid of him and I would love
to have more people so that he can be the true third down pass rusher, which seems to
be his best role.
He should also be able to add a little bit more weight.
And he's just been getting better and better every single season.
And then yet again, I think some are turners of defense event.
If they think he's a defensive end, now you have four defense events that are on that
roster.
I love the idea of the Bears drafting someone.
And that's the reason why I just bring it up that way.
And you know, it's if they end up going with Tray Hendrickson, then I think they're going
to say, hey, Turner, we're going to move you the detackle and vice versa, right?
And that's the benefit of having a Schramar Turner is he's a tweener.
But if you keep him in that tweener zone, he's never going to be able to develop on
at just one because normally that tweener stuff just doesn't work out in the end.
But that's the reason why I just bring up the don't be surprised if they don't sign
one or get mad at polls like this is why we need this, right?
Yet again, not a lot of cap space.
But as we kind of go through this list, the next person, I'll just talk about the main
ones that I want.
And then we'll talk about everybody else.
Tray Hendrickson, yet again, column next, Khalil Mac, why because I'm a Bears fan and
I would love to see him back here.
And he also plays typically, he can typically play on the opposite side of, you know, of
sweat, if you really want to, I just want to see him back here.
He's still good.
83 overall, PFF grade.
He's not as dominant as he once was.
But yet again, when you want to talk about a good run defender, this man's always been
a good run defender, graded top 10 and PFF, you know, last year.
Yet again, you don't need PFF to tell you that this guy can still hold down the run.
And just a, just a good guy, just to, can you imagine if we bring him back how Chicago
will be ever is going to break out their old 52 jerseys and just start freaking out?
Like that, that's what I'd love to see.
And also he's only go for about $10 million, potentially 10 or 15 yet again, it's a little
pricey, but it's something that you could, they could then restructure some of those
contracts a little bit.
And then yet again, if you want to get flexible, you can move some people around or you
could just flat out post June 1st, die with Dango and say, listen, get off my team.
All right.
You're coming off of a serious injury.
Hopefully you could do like an injury settlement.
So then it's good for him.
It's less burden on the bears from a cat perspective as well.
That would be a dream scenario right there.
And then last, I just like throwing this guy out here because every single year, this
is like the younger version of Clayis Campbell.
Jadavia Cloudy is good, like ladies and gentlemen, every person that signs him, he just comes
out and he plays well.
Now he kind of had an outlier season with just pass rush production, but he's always been
a good run defender.
The bears need someone to stop the run.
That's Jadavia Cloudy and yeah, last year 79.2 grade for the Dallas Cowboys.
He just keeps getting these one year mercenary deals.
He's 33 years old, which makes me feel old because I remember when he was coming out
of college and yeah, just yet again, good solid players that you can get and be a little
bit more flexible on.
But those were the main ones I wanted to kind of call out.
But as we kind of go through just the overall list, I just don't love some of these like
Quitte Pay.
He could be fetching around $18 million yet again, don't love that.
Marcus Davenport might be another name to just look out for someone from Detroit, someone
that also had experience under Dennis Salon.
But man, that guy's just been way too injured.
He's going to be turning 30 this year.
It's unfortunate.
He was one of those just really good, high upside athletic guys that Dennis Salon likes.
But yet again, came back to Detroit.
Maybe the bears just take a, if you take a flyer on them, don't give them lots of guarantees.
It just have them compete, right?
But as we kind of just continue down the list, Josh Uche, I don't mind that just because
of, yeah, if you just want to take a flyer on him, a former what first rounder or second
rounder, but just kind of going through just some of these players to see if there's anyone
else that I can really just think of that the bears would even want to go after.
Oh, Adafee.
Oh, no.
No, thank you.
Like yet again, he's potentially going to fetch $20 million just way too much.
Um, and then Chadevian Clowny, the projection is about 5 million or 6 million last year
had a $3.5 million cap it.
That's why he's good.
You can sign him to a very cheap, very cheap deal.
And um, and he gives you that type of production, Jalen Phillips.
I just, you know, he's projected around 17 plus million dollars, nervous about that.
I feel someone's going to break the bank for him yet again.
I don't like the idea of signing Philly offensive lineman.
I don't like the idea of signing Philly defensive lineman because they have so many bodies
there that they're just, oh, they always have their best year there.
Oh, yeah, I forgot about one cam Jordan.
Cam Jordan has been some of that pops up.
My nervousness with cam Jordan is I like them like don't get me wrong.
I like him.
He still can play.
But he only plays on Montess wet side.
I don't love the idea of Montess wet only playing like flipping sides to the other side.
He only plays against the right tackle throughout his entire career.
That's the only thing that he's done plus also too.
Cam Jordan is such a good announcer football personality.
And I just love the idea of him retiring as a saint and just going out being a saint.
And it's just like, that's what Lance breaks did.
That's what Brian or Laker did.
That's what I want selfishly want Cam Jordan to do.
I don't want him to wear a bear's jersey just because like, I love the guy.
Like yet again, I want to see him on TV just because he's awesome.
But yeah, I want him to retire a saint.
It's just I like it when players do that.
So, but yet again, if they were to sign them, you're talking about Montess wet,
probably having to play against the left tackle, which is something that he just has not done a lot of throughout his career.
Like he started doing a little bit last year, but yet again,
stick him at his true side, and that's why I don't necessarily love that.
Just going through to Hassan Reddick, you know, don't mind that.
But just a little small, I don't think the bears will like it.
Joey Bosa, 13 million.
Yet again, I'd rather just have Khalil Mac rather than a Joey Bosa if you're talking about relatively the same.
And actually, I was incorrect.
Spotrick has Mac at 18.
So we'll see what he ends up going for.
Leonard Floyd, now you can say off my team, thank you.
Dremont Jones, I think that that's a little bit of a trap.
That's what worked.
The bear's good.
I never liked Dremont Jones, even when a lot of bears fans really wanted to,
I just have not been a fan of him.
But yeah, just going through, no one really else.
Von Miller's too old and yeah, but that's about it.
Like I said, lots and lots of defensive free agents that are out there.
But what do I believe the bears do?
Yet again, I actually think, especially with where things are at, it's kind of cool.
I think that Ryan Poles is doing something that I've been saying that they should do.
He's only been going for the splash players and trying to fill out this roster.
I think we're going to continue to see that.
We're going to keep you posted with just who gets resigned.
I'm going to refresh my screen just to see if there was any other resigning that might have happened.
It's just, nope, everything is all about Zaire Franklin and that's it.
So because of that, we'll have to see.
But man, Monday cannot come soon enough.
I can't wait to see what the bears do yet again.
Hopefully it's all good, solid contracts because we have so many draft.
We have two second rounders of first rounder and then most likely two third rounders to be able to make this team
and take it to the next level.
So if you like this content out there, make sure to hit that like button, subscribe out there too.
Because also we will be having our draft guide still because of all the free agent work.
I've been doing so much work on that.
