This is Locked On Betts, the daily betting show that means business from the Locked On podcast network.
Posted by Least Sterling and Kevin Rogers, they're dropping fearless picks with an inside edge to put money in your pocket.
If there's action, they've got the lock. This is where Smart Betts start. It's Locked On Betts.
Welcome to the Thursday edition of Locked On Betts, Kevin Rogers and Least Sterling, a paramount sports with you.
And as always, we appreciate you making Locked On Betts your first list of the day here.
I'm a Locked On podcast network and we've got plenty on the buffet today as a majorly baseball.
Yes, it started last night with opening day, but really this is opening day with all of the games coming up today.
And tonight you saw the Yankees route the Giants last night.
So we'll see how it all unfolds today.
Also, UFC Fight Night in Seattle. Lee has a play on that.
And also the sweet 16, we all knew that Iowa Nebraska would be there.
So we're going to talk about that match up from the big 10 coming up later as well.
So Lee, let's get things going with our first blowout special.
Last one out, turn off the lights.
This one's a blowout.
One of the most dominating pitchers in baseball, Terrick Scoobl takes the mound this afternoon.
Tigers, Podgeray's rematch in 1984 World Series between these two out at Petco Park.
And Detroit, they had that famous meltdown at the end of last season.
Still got to the postseason and made it to the ALDS.
But now it's taken on a San Diego team with plenty of pop in their lineup,
but always seems like they're disappointment when they get to the postseason.
So Lee, game one, Tigers, Podgeray's what do you like?
Pretty much the same thing with the Podgeray's too.
Was Dave Winfield in that in that series?
I think he was with the Yankees at that point, but that was the famous Kurt Gibson home runoff goose gossage at Tiger Stadium.
Okay, you're right.
Not two of my not so favorite teams, but that's why I didn't remember it.
Is what I'm going to do.
We had the Yankees opening night, love them, small favorite.
I want to give people off to a big quick start.
So I'm going to give away the card for today.
That's right.
I'm going to give away my three games on my card here, which Jack Bond and I have discussed.
And we've been waiting a couple of days for we think we've got some great matchups.
So I want to get everyone off to a two one or three and I'll start a few.
Contact me on Twitter slash X DM me at paramount sports.
Give me your name and your cell number.
And I'm going to send you the card for free.
Also, you can if you don't have Twitter X, you can email me at p sports at bell south dot night.
Peace sports at B-E-L-L-S-O-U-T-H dot net peace sports at bell south dot net is my email.
Send your name, cell number or via Twitter slash X name and phone number.
And I'm going to get a free card baseball.
My way is saying, thanks for listening.
And let's get off to a quick start.
So here's a game I love also opening day.
Not often you find extra motivation for a starting picture on opening day of a hundred and sixty two game season.
But school bull.
You remember he had a very public nasty arbitration process with a tiger siss off season here before being awarded his current one year contract.
And you have to remember that he left team USA in the world baseball classic early to get ready for this start.
Has some extra pressure on him here and I just think that he's going to be ready to pod raise lineup hit just one sixty seven against him so far and fifty four bats and they had a lot of off season changes.
It was a rise hose and glasses and one of the best relievers and Robert's whereas not there.
So this is a team that's undergoing a lot of changes and probably won't make the playoffs this year.
I know Nick.
But better today's starter pitch really well, but.
I didn't see some of the year last year, but the underlying numbers really suggested he's going to struggle here a little bit this year.
And that much turnover offensively a brand new manager and Craig Stamen and a lack of depth in this lineup.
I think the school bull is the last guy the one of face here.
I'm high on the Detroit Tigers this year and I'm going to be looking for them to bet them early and often and I I think they win this game something like six to three.
We're going to go with a blow out special Detroit Tigers opening day.
Four o'clock and you and like you mentioned Craig Stamen his kind of surprise higher there.
He is the new manager for the pod raise and they've gone through a couple managers last few years.
They have not found consistency there. So you wonder if he's the if he is the right guy, but also his first time managing against the AJ hench who's been around a while for Detroit.
Again with Terrick Scoobal who is one of the best pitchers in baseball.
We'll see how that whole thing turns out today again very long season coming up.
What a shift gears really quickly before we get to our second baseball pick that NBA last night.
One thing that definitely you noticed was the Cavaliers who were coming off of a close win over the magic on Monday night quick turnaround and taking on the heat Tuesday.
Here's the short favorite at home and the heat led pretty much from start to finish.
What did you see there that you really liked?
Well, the line should have been four and a half five points at least.
I mean, he was coming off getting blown out against San Antonio.
I had a feeling that the heat was going to make some changes.
And finally, you know, put pal and Wiggins back in the starting lineup with hero.
And they don't have any time the way so you need to try to get up to that fifth or sixth spot.
They're sitting ninth currently.
So felt the urgency was there.
They were begging you to play Cleveland and just a trap line as soon as I knew everyone was healthy on both sides.
I'm like this line's all by two two and a half points should be Cleveland four and a half five.
It's only two and a half.
It's an automatic key bet gave it up big to my clients and the heat wins the win by double.
I give you one that really stung if you had the Lakers last night.
They were a big on the Pacers and Indiana hit a three at the buzzer to lose by seven getting eight and a half.
That one's got a burn if you had that one.
But again, apart from the course and also two one more thing I want to mention.
So the 76ers scored 157 points last night.
It scored 51 and a quarter.
The bull scored 53 and the fourth quarter still lost by 20.
Like how do you figure that one out that they outscored Philadelphia 5335 is still lost by 20.
So but Billy Donovan maybe he's got bags packed in North Carolina.
Who knows, but that's one of that's one of the stranger box scores you'll ever see.
Yeah, very, very weird.
And also you had to feel that was a let down for the bulls too after they played very well against the Rockets a few nights ago.
And then they just went to Philadelphia and just got a boat house and that game.
All right, let's go back to baseball now.
And let's look at a game for tonight with a player prop and a hit.
To find a diamond in the rough, you need to dig a little deeper for those hidden gems.
Look at a strikeout prop here and we're going to go with Logan Gilbert.
He's a plus money for over six and a half strikeouts Mariners taking on the Guardians tonight in Seattle.
And a couple of numbers to go over with Gilbert.
He went over his strikeout prop in eight of 13 home starts last year.
Also a team mobile park.
He averaged 7.7 strikeouts a start.
He had 10 outings at home of at least seven strikeouts.
He did face Cleveland once only had six strikeouts, but in six innings of work.
And in each of his last three against Cleveland since 2003.
He's had at least six strikeouts every time now granting.
He's a get the seven here, but he's been pretty successful.
I've been pretty close each time.
But this number I thought was very interesting.
So Gilbert because he had some injury issues last year.
His strikeouts in 2024 was 220.
Last year dropped to 173.
Okay, but he also had eight fewer starts and his case per start 6.9.
So Gilbert's a guy that is pretty automatic with the strikeouts.
Cleveland a few years ago was one of the lowest strikeout teams against opposing starting pitchers.
That number went up last year under Steven vote.
And for whatever reason, the number just was higher than it was then the previous years.
We're going to look at Logan Gilbert over six and a half.
You can get it plus 105 or pretty much at plus 100.
It depends on where you look, but plus money on that.
Let's go with Logan Gilbert over six and a half strikeouts with Seattle and Cleveland hooking up coming up tonight in the Pacific Northwest as our MLB hit and jam.
I'm going to ride you here.
I like for two reasons.
I think the crowd's going to have him pumped up and Logan Gilbert wasn't even close to himself when he came back last year after injury.
And I'm hearing he's 100%.
So he's a horse. He is a he is a number one pitcher.
You want to have on your team.
If you're looking to make it to post season.
So I think he's going to put a little exclamation point tomorrow with his performance and also to with Seattle.
They are back at home after remember the last home game they play.
They beat Toronto.
They lost the last two in the ALCS, the blue jays, but just a crazy home crowd there.
And yeah, Seattle was on the doorstep of going to the world series last year.
So we'll see if they can get off to a good start coming up this season coming up.
We'll stay in Seattle because UFC fight night is going to be there coming up this weekend.
Also, the sweet 16 begins tonight college basketball.
And we have our lock the day with Iowa and Nebraska.
All that is straight ahead.
You are listening to lock on bets.
Let's talk about a fan duel.
And look, we reached the sweet 16.
We made it.
We finally made it to this round.
And it's one of the best times a year.

We continue locked on bets here on a Thursday.
Kevin Rogers, at least sterling a paramount sports.
And we now head to the octagon in Seattle.
And it is time now for our first lock of the day with the UFC fight night.
Open it, open it, open it.
Lee has the key to the lock of the day.
All right, here's what we got welcher weight of one of the one of the fights on the main card.
Michael Kiyasa and Nico Price.
They are meeting up that climate pleasure arena in Seattle, the home of the Kraken.
And Lee, what do you like with this matchup?
I want to give you a lot of traffic going on downtown Seattle with UFC going on.
And also the game that night.
The Cleveland Seattle game.
So if you like sports, you're probably one of the other.
Now, a lot of layers to this fight.
The fight is in Seattle.
Got to with anything else.
You got to know the venue.
You got to know which teams the home team.
You got to know about the fighters.
Michael Kiyasa, nickname Maverick.
He's from from Washington state.
So going to have a huge crowd there supporting him on.
He is this is going to be his retirement fight.
So you're saying, OK, you know, usually want to make it entertaining or give him a good opponent.
Well, he is loved by the UFC.
I mean, he's a commentator.
Does a lot of different things.
Sometimes he's ringside.
Sometimes he's in the booth and between fights and doing interviews after.
So he's going to be working Kiyasa for the UFC for a long time.
He has won his last three fights.
Usually guys that are retiring on losing streets.
They just want to make it competitive.
Last three fights.
And we're against Tony Ferguson.
Everyone knows the name.
Twenty Ferguson's a corpse.
I mean, he's lost each of his last eight fights.
That's right.
Eight in a row.
Max nickname pain Griffin.
I call Max no pain anymore Griffin.
He's 40.
He looks 60 awful.
Court.
I call court crushes.
People's bank role here.
McGee.
This guy's archaic.
He's lost three to last four and seven of the last ten.
So he's fought no one.
And he's either knocked him out or submitted guys.
He's 13 and seven as Kiyasa and the UFC.
He's fighting a guy.
Nico hybrid price.
Nico is 36.
Nico has seven children.
Nico took his last fight on.
I think either two or three days notice got knocked out by a tomato can in the first round.
He is just collecting, you know, paychecks right now to feed his family.
He's fighting again on one week's notice.
He got knocked out 50 days ago.
He usually make you wait three, four, six months.
If you get knocked out, not if they're looking for someone.
And like I said, they want to give Kiyasa.
Perfect match to go out and win in my opinion.
So how is this fight going to play out?
Price likes to throw hands.
His only method here to win is to knock out Kiyasa.
But Kiyasa has never been knocked out.
Actually has a decent chin.
He's going to get on top of him.
And then he's going to submit him.
Nico price in all his fights.
Just 50% take down defense.
So Kiyasa is going to get him.
Middle the first, late first, second round.
Get on top of him, solely work his way.
And then he's going to get the submission.
So I'm going to take Michael Maverick Kiyasa in his retirement fight.
At home in Seattle.
And then he's going to be my submission minus 120 to 125.
It's going to be my first lock.
A level two lock.
All right.
Looking forward to that coming up on Saturday in Seattle.
And like you mentioned, you have guardians, mariners there.
Saturday night as well.
So it's going to be busy there.
In Seattle for a couple of big events.
So now let us.
We waited till the end for sweet 16 college basketball.
And the first of two matchups in Houston.
Since the the Cougars all stuffed themselves into a van and drove from campus over to the arena.
Since they got the home court advantage or playing the second game.
But the first game Iowa and Nebraska big 10 round number three between these two teams.
Time now for our second little lock of the day.
Open it.
Open it.
We has the key to the lock of the day.
Although a high point beat Wisconsin in the first round.
And yeah, that was an upset seating wise.
Not a lot of people expected Iowa to be Florida.
In the second round, especially with the game in Tampa, not far from Gainesville.
Kind of like a home game for the the Gators and Iowa held them off in the end.
So Iowa goes to the sweet 16 out of face Nebraska, who survived against Vanderbilt.
And these teams have met already twice and they split the first two games.
I mean, Iowa should have won the game in Nebraska.
They ended up losing that one and over time.
But Lee, what do you like here in Nebraska's short favorite here in this matchup with the elite eight spot on the line?
Well, Iowa fan base does travel.
Well, and they'll they'll be represented, but nothing like Nebraska.
I mean, this is a once in a lifetime.
This is like Indiana for the national championship in their run this year in football.
They have never been to the sweet 16 had never won a tournament game there out of their minds.
I know every radio station to a couple of men Nebraska.
They were there.
They were on site.
They're in Houston.
They're a fan.
They're driving there in motorhome and they're doing whatever they can.
People think of Iowa as the superior three point shooting team.
But Nebraska 20th in the country.
That's right.
Out of over almost 400 teams.
The average 10.23 pointers per game.
It's going to be like a home game that bandage here for Nebraska.
Iowa's Bennett searches is going to have to score.
I think 20 plus points for them to compete here.
And how about this teams that pull off a double digit win.
And around two.
All time.
Oh and six straight up in the sweet 16 games here.
I love Nebraska here.
Lay the one to one and a half here.
All the way up level three lock.
All right.
And yeah, we'll see how this turns out.
The third meeting between these two splitting the first two.
And what I was got left in the tank after beating Florida.
In a game that they were in control of Florida came back took the lead.
And then Iowa hit that big three at the end of Florida.
Flub the final possession.
So we'll see how that turns out against Nebraska.
Coming up later tonight.
So lead tomorrow on the show.
We're going to have a couple more sweet 16 picks for Fridays.
Slate, but what's going on a paramount sports now with baseball underway?
You mentioned your special at the beginning.
Also NBA NHL continuing UFC Saturday.
And of course, the March madness.
