I doctor the test once.
It took an army of internet detectives to uncover a disturbing pattern.

Okay, a story about Disneyland, yes, this is for Neil and this is for Amy.
And it's for me because I went on Monday and you actually had a great time.
All right.
So Disneyland visitors who don't want to provide a face print to access Main Street, a
little bit nervous about interesting Disney to keep their biometric data safe from cyber
criminals.
Well, they can opt out of the security measures used by Disneyland.
They rolled out facial recognition software combined with biometric technology this week
at the front entrances of both parks, following limited tests in recent months.
And I'm going to tell you about unintended consequences here because that always happens.
And that is you can say no to biometric recognition, got it, biometric technology.
And so you go into the park and they have a separate lane for people who are opting out.
And Amy, I'm assuming there'll be plenty of people who are not thrilled with their biometric
information being used photos are taken to compare with, for example, annual passes,
et cetera.
They've been taking photos for forever when you walk into the park, they take your picture
so it's connected to your ticket.
Now this is biometric information and they save it or they're eliminated because like
at the at TSA, they say we don't save it though.
Yeah, well, Disney also says they're not saving it, but here's the unintended consequence.
And that is you have lines going into the park and they can be very long.
And here's the lane for opting out.
If the lane for opting out, if the line for opting out is way shorter, people who normally
have no problem with biometric information, I don't, they're going to go into the line
to opt out.
Why?
Because it's shorter.
It's the lightning lane of biometric information.
And Disney is saying you don't like it, will bail out.
So it does give people choices.
The other possibility and this is something that is not being particularly advertised is
I don't know if you know that your skin has variations in it where biometrically it's
like retinal, it's like retinal or fingerprints where it's unique to everybody.
So there is a way of biometrically accessing and looking at and comparing your skin patterns,
which means there is one section where you can simply moon the camera and that works.
Amy, you're looking at it like somehow you don't believe it.
Oh no, I believe everything that you say Bill.
Okay, excellent.
But it's something where people are genuinely frightened of keeping biometric information.
I think they get our biometric information everywhere.
They're just they're introducing it in Europe now at the airports.
It's everywhere.
No, it is.
And which means that technology is going to know more and more about you and the fear
is not the corporations who go ahead and use biometric or take photos or collect biometric
information.
It's the hackers.
It's the bad guys who can get involved.
I mean, Disney of course would be super careful.
After 30 days, it's gone.
I believe that certainly, but what if hackers get involved in the first 30 days and that
information?
The more of the bad guys have about your information, the easier it is to hack into your life to
where there is no privacy whatsoever.
I believe we're already there.
People who talk about privacy, you guys are dreaming if there's privacy in this world.
That doesn't exist.
I like the moon idea, the mooning idea, because on the one hand, it's a little bit personal
to people.
On the other hand, maybe it's a little embarrassing to pull down your pants and moon the camera.
Boy, I should be involved in security, shouldn't I?
You betcha.
Okay.
I want to switch gears a little bit today.
Instead of talking what I was going to talk about, I want to deal with homeowners and
facing something called zone zero changes due to fires because frankly, I think that's
a little closer to home than what's happening in England or New Zealand.
We're a year after the wildfires in Southern California.
What California is looking to do is implement rules that would require resident statewide to
make some modifications outside their home.
Now, if you listen to Dean Sharp, he gives some good advice about dealing with homes and
dealing with fires regarding vents and embers, et cetera.
They're already laws on the books dealing with the kind of combustible materials you can
have.
Well, this one goes a little further.
This zone zero, New Proposed Rules refers to the first five feet around your home or structure.
And in specific areas across the state, homeowners would be required to remove combustible materials
outside the home.
Bark, mulch, wood chips, follow some maintenance requirements over plants and trees in this
immediate area.
Now, previous drafts call for stricter requirements, what would be permitted outside your home.
But not to this extent, a version earlier this year didn't allow grass and ornamental
or native plants within this zone zero.
And we're considered landscaping materials likely to be ignited by embers.
And that is the problem.
There's nothing you can do if a roaring fire comes into your area.
The house is going to burn, come hell or high water.
But a lot of homes, a lot of structures burn down because of embers.
Embers can fly half a mile or a mile away from a fire.
And if your home gets in the way of that, especially in the attic, this is where Dean talks
about embers coming in because the attic is all wood.
There's those stucko up there.
It ignites very easily.
And so, this science-based approach is being developed simply to meaningful reduce the
risk.
Okay.
Now, there's already zone one and two.
And that's for larger stretches of the area surrounding the home.
And these zones one and two are considered defensible spaces.
Fuels are removed, reduced, to provide a buffer between your structure, your home, and
the surrounding area.
And that's considered vital for protecting homes and communities from the wildfire.
And according to the experts and the law, adequate defensible space acts as a barrier to
slower halt the progress of a fire.
Now again, if you have a major fire coming through, you're done.
There's nothing you can do about it except get the hell out.
But as I said, the number of fires caused by embers is high enough to where if you do
something about it, you know, it's going to help.
And when I bought my house, one of the first things I did is put louvers in my attic space
in the roof, especially to fight embers from going in or just keep embers from going in.
So now instead of zone one and two, we go into zone zero, which goes to a further extent
because of the embers blowing around.
It's just accepting the fact that fires under the ember theory are easily, easily defended
against.
So under zone zero, we would have to make changes for things like fences and sheds.
If you have a wooden gate attached to your home, which here to for you could have because
that's not considered brush or trees, you may have to replace it with a non combustible
metal gate or with a resin gate, a fiberglass gate, which are actually pretty good, those
fences.
They look great and they are fire, if not proof, certainly fire retardant.
I guess they don't burn no matter what.
And they don't get old and decrepit and crappy at all.
So when does zone zero go into effect?
Well, new construction is going to be required to comply with this regulation upon its adoption.
Existing homes and structures, all of that will be phased in over several years, giving
people a chance to deal with it.
And that's happened a few times where there was plenty of time to deal with it.
For example, when businesses in the city of LA had to switch over with the elevator panels,
I don't know if you remember that, but elevator panels in many cases were too high for people
in wheelchairs.
And therefore the law said you have to bring down the panel.
So people in wheelchair have access to it, hideously expensive, took years and the businesses
were given years to do this.
I always thought there was an easy answer, which is much cheaper.
And that is putting in a stick with a chain attached to the wall.
So someone in wheelchairs can just pick up the stick and press the button, but no one
listens to me.
The same thing happened with roofs, shake roofs, wooden roofs are illegal.
And there you don't find them.
Well it took 30 years because a roof has a 30 year lifetime.
And so once that law came into effect, people who had wooden roofs could wait until they
replaced it.
Well, that took 30 years.
And now if you look at roofs in Southern California, it's either tile or concrete or asphalt,
you're not going to see wooden shake roofs, they don't exist.
And the same thing is going to happen with this.
Now there is something new.
And that new homes that are being built have to have a solar system in place.
If I'm not mistaken on that.
And I think that's the case if I'm not wrong, where you have a development or you're building
a new house, there has to be a solar system in place because California, of course, is
at the forefront of solar and alternative energy.
And theoretically we're going to be neutral, energy neutral, alternative neutral in terms
of fossil fuels by 2035, although that's been blowing out of the water because restricting
any federal restriction has been removed, as you know, because we have an administration
that does not like alternative energy.
And likes fossil fuels a bunch, as a matter of fact, we have a president who says outright
and has never brought it back, that climate change is a fraud that it doesn't exist.
It's the biggest fraud that has ever been perpetrated in the history of the world.
There is no such thing as climate change.
I don't know where you go with that, but in any case, we're going to have zone zero.
So if you happen to have a wooden fence, which most people do, and it's close to the
house, not going to happen, it's going to have to be replaced.
And if you happen to have any kind of a structure to near the house, for example, at my place,
I had a wooden structure, which is now a casita, quote, a casita.
And it was a structure where my outdoor dining area is, if you call it a dining area.
And I replaced it.
I replaced it with a stucco structure.
Why?
Well, because of that exact reason, it was too close to the house.
All right.
The story we're looking at, a new report has just come out and says one in five Americans
may be exposed to dangerous, that nitrate levels in their tap water.
So here's the bottom line.
You eat hot dogs and drink tap water at the same time you're going to die.
There you are.
So knock your socks off.
Oh, okay.
Now, there is a bill that is going through England.
Actually, it is passed and King Charles has to sign it, which you will.
And it aims to raise a smoke-free generation, permanently banning the sale or supply of
tobacco and vape products to anyone born in 2009 or after.
It applies to people currently 17 years old or younger.
And the whole point is to try to keep them from ever picking up the habit in their lifetime.
So the mock lawmakers say that in practice, the measure means the age of sale for tobacco
products will rise over time as this demographic group grows older.
And we're looking to a smoke-free society.
And so the people covered by this law will be part, and this is a quote, part of the first
smoke-free generation protected from a lifetime of addiction and harm.
And this was a quote from West streeting the health secretary.
Prevention is better than cure, what he said.
So it includes new licensing, new registration requirements for retailers and ads product
information and mandates and advertising and promotion controls way further than they
are now.
More restrictions on smoking and vaping in public pace places.
And what it does is it hopes to block the use of tobacco products because tobacco products
are the main underlying drivers of ill health.
We know that.
What's the first thing that's asked?
And I just had my physical a few, maybe a week ago.
And I was asked, do you smoke?
And I said, only after sex.
And that's because of friction.
No, that's not true at all.
But smoking is the main cause.
You look at lung cancer, you look at heart disease, you look at cholesterol and stroke,
big, big risks with additional smoking.
And the bill was first proposed in 2024 and it's a generational smoking ban and it's
gained traction around the world.
Last year, the same law was passed in the Maldives, where the Maldives and New Zealand
enacted the world's first generational smoking ban in 2022, lauded by health public officials,
criticized by retailers and the tobacco industry and a new government came in and the law
was abolished.
Why?
Because the tobacco industry has enormous power all over the world I might add.
And so the New Zealand legislation was killed as a result of the influence of the tobacco
industry, even in New Zealand.
I mean, all over the world, it's kind of crazy.
We probably have less smoking in the United States than many parts of the world.
And this may signal some real struggles ahead for this effort.
So in 2024, Britain's office for national statistics reported that 5.3 million people
over 18, age 18 or over were smokers.
And that's 10% of all adults in the UK.
And according to the Department of Health and Social Care, which is their HHS, smoking
is responsible for 64,000 deaths every year.
It's a leading preventable cause of death and disability and ill health.
So the bottom line is if you stop people from smoking, if you make it extraordinarily
difficult for anybody 17 or younger to smoke with legislation with retailers that are stopped
from selling, advertising, smoking.
It's not like smoking here in this country where everybody smoked everybody, if you remember
when everybody smoked, what was the line?
Do you mind if I smoke?
And who said no to that?
Who ever said no?
Well, of course you can smoke.
And then it morphed into do you mind if I smoke?
Well, do you mind if I fart?
That turned out to be helpful.
But here you have the tobacco industry, which is insanely powerful.
You have chambers of commerce, which very powerful.
You have retailers, which are very powerful.
And it's a fight.
And it's a fight.
Now was there a successful fight in terms of labeling cigarette packages?
You bet.
And if you remember what the, it was crazy what the tobacco industry was able to do is
convince Americans that tobacco smoke, that smoking is healthy for you.
Not just it does no harm, but the pitch was it is healthy for you.
And the ads had actors put in lab coats and stethoscopes around their neck, their necks
saying smoking, what it does is relieve stress.
It makes you feel better.
You're not as, that is itchy, itchy, no, I don't think it was itchy.
But certainly not in a position where you got sick quicker.
It actually stopped you from getting sick.
And so you think that went out the window, oh, by the way, that's when the tobacco industry
knew that smoking causes cancer.
And so at this point, I think what the industry is doing, no one is arguing that it is healthy
for you.
We're unhealthy.
I think the argument now with the tobacco industry is it's simply big business.
And you have to have a government that's pro business because this is a capitalistic system.
And you also argue that the tobacco industry is arguing that all of those studies are somehow
either fraudulent or if not fraudulent, they're overstated that the stats just don't make
a lot of sense.
Okay.
And I want to end with an article in the Atlantic.
And it is described.
The headline is a barbaric problem in American hospitals is only getting bigger.
And what is the writer talking about?
She's talking about what Jim Kinney says.
And if you talk to Jim and ask him a medical problem and I do that all the time, I've got
a problem here or someone or friend of his says, I've got an issue and I should go to
the doctor.
The number one piece of the ice that Jim says is do not go to the ER, stay out of the
ER because it is getting worse and worse.
Jim had a birthday party over the weekend and obviously a lot of doctors were there.
And we were talking about the waiting rooms.
And I told the story of what happened with Lindsay when we were the past few months and
we were on vacation in Palermo, Italy.
And the doctor was telling me, and it's an ER doctor about how you can wait six, eight
hours in the emergency room.
And then trying to get a bed in the hospital, you're going to wait a whole, that's just
a see a doctor.
And then to try to get a bed, if you need it, that can literally take days.
And there is a term called boarding is what they do.
boarding is keeping patients in the ER on their gurney waiting for a hospital bed to open
up.
If they need a hospital and a lot of people go in and need a bed, they're in, they're not
only in the little cubicles, but they're also in the hallways.
And I'm asking Jim, how is that possible?
You keep someone in the hallways and that's considered an ER.
He says that's considered part of the ER when people are parked in the hallway.
And this problem is getting worse and worse and worse.
And why is that?
Because the fewer people that have insurance, the more people go to the ER because the
ER has become their general practitioner.
The ER has become their internist.
And all of a sudden, real emergencies are very rare.
And then general medicine is what they spend 99% of their time on.
And it's getting worse.
That's the problem.
As bad as it is, it is getting worse.
Going to the ER is at least a six, seven hour wait for the doctor.
Unless you've been, unless you're suffering from a gunshot wound, or you are, let's
say, having a heart attack or a stroke, I've tried that and they knew that I was lying
when they did my vitals and that screwed me up a lot because then it kept me in the waiting
room for even longer just to, just as a yets to me.
So what is the answer to all of this?
Well, it's something that will never happen.
And that is some kind of a national health system the way everybody in the world has,
or even country in the world has, every industrialized country has except the United States.
It's communistic.
If we do that, it's socialist.
And therefore we don't want that.
We do not want a national health system, single payer, where the government pays for medical
care, like every other country.
So to give you an idea what happened, and I shared this story before, if you haven't
heard it, Lindsay has asthma.
And she was having an asthma attack in Palermo, Italy.
And we had to go to the ER because she needed a nebulizer.
She had to have medicine with oxygen.
And we go to the ER and within 30 seconds, she has an IV in her arm.
They put the nebulizer on.
It looks like an oxygen mass.
And there's medicine that comes out of a little plastic container.
And so she sees the doctor who said, and we're talking within a minute, you need an ENT.
You have to have an ENT take a look at what's going on with your lungs.
Okay, give us an appointment, where do we go?
You go upstairs.
You go upstairs.
We walked up the stairs, and there is the department where the earknows and throat
doctor was world class equipment.
Now, you know, the building itself was kind of crappy.
World class equipment, she was okay.
He gave us a prescription for medication.
We were in and out in one hour and 15 minutes waiting room.
First doctor, second doctor and treatment, boy, just like America, just like we do here.
All right, guys, we are done.
That's it.
Ciao, baby.
Neil and I come aboard at six, wake up call at five with Will and Amy and then you have
Kono and Anne who are basically there together, I mean, me, they're there together making
the show work.
Kono never goes home, by the way, just to let you know, he has a couple of children and
he doesn't know how they were conceived because he wasn't there.
All right.
That's, that's, let's, let's not go there.
Go there.
Oh, okay.
Okay, boy.
Okay.
Okay.
