Diver Missing in Greece's Devil's Well Cave

0:00On March 23rd, a 34-year-old experienced diver and pilot has gone missing in a dangerous underwater cave known as the Devil's Well Near. Voliogmini, Greece. He vanished around midday on Sunday while diving at Lee Manakia, a rocky coastline south of Athens. His companion came back up alone and alerted rescuers right away. Specialist teams from the Hellenic Coast Guard's Underwater Missions Unit, along with the speleologists and the Hellenic Rescue Team launched a major search. The cave starts shallow near the shore, but drops sharply to between 92 and 98 feet, leading into a maze of tight passages and chambers. Experts think it might link to a nearby lake, making it extra tricky. This spot has a grim history, with at least four divers dying there over the years from getting lost, trapped, or caught in strong currents. Back in 1978, three young Americans disappeared, exploring it, and their remains weren't identified until 2007 through.
