DK Metcalf's Risky Steelers Deal: Prove Worth or Risk Release

On April 17, DK Metcalf got traded from the Seattle Seahawks to the Pittsburgh Steelers

last offseason after pushing for a move to a warmer spot, with a top quarterback and

Super Bowl vibes.

Now he's stuck on a contract through 2029, with no guaranteed cash starting in 2026.

He grabbed a $30 million signing bonus and $60 million total guaranteed at the jump,

but the rest he has to play for.

That deal looked risky from day one, especially after his agent let his slide without more

security.

Metcalf thought he'd land a fat extension elsewhere, but Seahawks GM John Schneider was

inviting, so Pittsburgh stepped in quick.

Fans and insiders are buzzing because his first year in black and gold was rough.

850 receiving yards and 59 catches, both.

Career lows.

A suspension for smacking out a fan during a Lions game didn't help his case either.

Steelers just traded for Michael Pymman, so Metcalf's targets aren't climbing anytime

soon.

Reports say Pittsburgh might rework his deal, cut him loose, or chase a cheap rookie instead

of banking on the 30-year-old vet.
