DNI Gabbard Takes Action on Russian Election Interference | July 21, 2025

Late Friday afternoon, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard announced that she would be initiating criminal proceedings related to the long-standing investigation into Russia’s alleged interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. In a brief but pointed statement to the press, Gabbard emphasized that new evidence had emerged, warranting formal charges against individuals suspected of undermining the integrity of the American democratic process. She stated that the intelligence community had "exhausted all avenues of investigation" and was now prepared to hold accountable those believed to have coordinated or facilitated foreign influence operations during the pivotal election year.
