Chess Visualization with Aiden Rayner — 🧠Do-Si-Do (Position Exercise). Machine-transcribed; use the interactive transcript above to jump the player to any line.
The following is a conceptualization training exercise from don't move until you see it. Completely exercise using only your mental board. Pause and repeat as often as you need to. In this position, white has a pawn on A3. A king on B3. A bishop on B2. And a knight on C4. Black has a king on B1. It is white to move. Checkmate in 1. How'd you go?
If you haven't quite got it yet, that's okay. Go back, restart, pause as often as you need to. This stuff is hard. But when you're ready to check the answer, you'll find it in the show notes. And if you want more exercises like this, head over to don't move until you see don't it. Here's to the journey.
