Do You Prefer Uncertainty... Or Misery?

About this episode

Certainty feels safe, but it often keeps us small. We open up about the brain’s safety bias, why “better the devil you know” holds you back, and how to reframe fear so you can choose growth over stagnation. Drawing on real-life moments from building a side hustle into a public platform, we unpack the quiet ways people trade potential for predictability and show how to build a healthier relationship with the unknown.

And, as a special bonus, I want to give you FREE access to my signature course, Slay Your Year (usually $997)! All you have to do is:

Simple as that!

Welcome to Let It Be Easy with Susie Moore. Your brain, its number one job to keep you safe and protected, will prefer a known problem to an unknown problem, hence the old saying, better the devil you know. But is that true? Think about it. When I worked my corporate job, I realized as people started noticing my side hustle, started noticing my life coaching, started noticing me in the media, building a business on the side. A lot of people had questions, a lot of people had curiosity, but I just knew they would never go out on their own, even if it's what they really wanted. Not because they're not talented and capable, wildly competent and brilliant in some cases. It's because most people will choose misery over uncertainty.

Maybe it's staying in a job because, hey, at least it's a sure thing or it seems that way for now. In reality, there are no safe jobs. Maybe it's a relationship with a friend or a romantic relationship. It's not satisfying you, but better than being friendless, better than being single, right? Wrong. If there's anything that I know, it's that your relationship with uncertainty, your relationship with the unknown and forging ahead anyway, is going to determine the quality of your entire life. That's why people who are called brave or courageous or lucky aren't blessed or born under a special star, they're willing to move forward in uncertain conditions. And really, let me hammer this in here with this statement. We've never lived in certain times. Tell me one time in your life, one day in your life, you've had complete certainty.

It is impossible, but we will do our very best to manufacture it, to create a semblance of it by staying in routines that keep us stuck, that keep us small, engineering small lives, or what's over the distance feels far too threatening. My friends, if you want to make a shift in your life, there is going to be some discomfort that you will have to tolerate. But is it worth it to you? That thing that you dream of, that thing that you desire? Is it worth a temporary feeling of discomfort? Or do you choose misery for the rest of your days? You are a powerful creator, and the answer is yours only. Until tomorrow my friends, so much. Loving is. Hey friend, I've got something really cool for you. I want to give you free access to my signature course called Slay Your Year, which typically sells for $997.
