This is Belie, one network, every topic, everywhere. Hello, Miami Dolphins fans. How are you today? And thank you for listening to the Dolphins Stock Deck on podcast. On this Tuesday, September the 8th, I'm your host Michael Eva, joined by Josh Moser from WSBN 7 South Florida's number one new station and Biggie Ian Berger from right here at Dolphins Stock Deck. I'm gentlemen week one is here. Football is back. We are just days away from Miami Dolphins football. How excited are we? Ian, start it off, my man. Well, I was going to say Josh, Josh now has to work like his ass off over the next like 18 weeks. And we're just going to get to get to get to sit back and enjoy it. But no, man, football. This is Christmas like over the next six and it doesn't matter how how the Dolphins are doing. It's football fantasy football watching your team watching other teams. Every, what is it now every Thursday night, every Sunday night, Sunday Sunday night, Monday night, and the occasional Wednesday and the occasional Saturday. It's all NFL football.
Yeah, I think probably the coolest thing is in Dolphins fans. And may it take me for saying this, you probably have your most winnable game right at the start. And we're not going to be talking about a lot of wins this year. I'm just being honest with everybody. But how amazing would this be? Jeff Haffley, first year head coach. And for this youngest team in the NFL to start off with a win. I think there's a good chance they can do it. And like it's like the first day of school. We're back. There's hope. And yeah, I'm ready to go for South Florida like sports fans. The lineup over the next six months with how good the Canes football team can be. I think this Dolphins team is going to be a roller coaster. I think it's really fun to cover. And then you throw into heat. You throw into panthers. You throw in messy. I don't think there's a better sports city collectively with the pro teams overall. And I think these are just times that we all need to take advantage of and say, hey, we were here.
We get to be a part of this. And I think that's what's most special to me about the start of the season. Yeah, it's. It's going to be something. It's going to be something for sure this year. As we spoke about last night on our roundtable show, Josh, it's like. The as a fan, like there's no pressure. Like you don't have to be nervous coming in any game because the expectations are so low. Like there's no pressure. Just sit back, watch. You have fun. There's going to be some games where I think they're going to surprise us obviously. And even if they lose, they're going to fight and be competitive. And you're going to see a glimpse of the future type of deal. There's going to be some games where you're going to want to turn off the TV at halftime because they're getting the doors. But I think from week to week, you don't know what you're going to get with this team. What's it for us come say? Life's like a whole box of topics. Never know what you're going to get. I think that's my amy Dolphins in 2026. You don't know what you're going to get from week to week. But I do agree this week's a wonderful game. We're going to talk about that on today's show. First is always watching this right now on YouTube smash that like button. Subscribe to the channel and super chats are open. Leave us a super chat. We'll read it on the air before we get into this week's game. They released today the depth chart.
Here's a few things that stood out to me. We can sort of talk about this starting wide receivers. Chris Falk, Halo Douglas with Malik Wallace. We got two rookies in there because they're usually going to be in three wide a lot. Jacob Rodriguez is the green dot guy. Running back to is Jalen right over Ali Gordon. Zane Anderson is starting its safety over Michael Taff. And your starting corner backs are Jason Marshall, Jude Brants in Chris Johnson, Johnson's the nickel corner, which again, you're it. He's going to be on the field the whole time because you're pretty much a nickel like 99% of the time. So any surprises there Josh? Not to me. I think Jalen right definitely be out of Ali Gordon. We know all he was dealing with a little bit of injury issue. That's why they made the trade to to out well going away. Then they ended up cutting the running back that they got back in exchange. No, I mean, not really. And I like that Zane Anderson gets to nod. I'm Michael Taff fan people for some reason think that we look like.
So we got a special segment coming up. Might have to do some fun stuff with that. But look, this. The bottom 10 players on this team are going to rotate. And I think, you know, as fans get to see this, you're going to see a lot of wave or wire pickups. And it's going to be an evolution. So I think a lot of players are going to get their opportunities. And the depth chart, they kind of just have to put one out. So I wouldn't rate too much into it. But it's kind of like the captain's being named like we all knew the captains were going to be. And to me, there's no surprises on this depth chart. And when you're talking about, you know, third string versus four string, like they're not at a point. It's honestly not even real. So yeah, no surprises. I'm excited to see what happens here. The only surprise I want your thoughts in this scene is a wide receiver. Chris Bell. They got listed as a starter. Again, talent wise. That's awesome because I think he is probably one of the best. But they got two rookies with Malik as a starter. What are your thoughts on having two rookie starting wide receivers?
I mean, we're going to see a lot of the three white rookie wide receivers in my opinion. And I think it goes back to what we were talking about either last week or the week before that game against Atlanta, where they fed Chris Bell like every pass that they could throw his way. That kind of wasn't indicator to me that he was going to be a playmaker. And they were going to make sure that he was inserted into this lineup. But I'll tell you one thing too. When I look at this depth chart, you know, there's for everybody who's not seen it yet or seen a depth chart on the left. It's always the starters and then in the middle column, it's always your backup players. When you look at the starters, that's a formidable formidable group of football players. I think there's still maybe some question marks and the defensive backfield. But everywhere else on that left side, I think you can make a really good football team. Again, we're not talking about Super Bowl winning team. Please surprise us. But once you start looking at that middle column, though, and that's when you start getting worried and you start looking at these guys and saying,
well, what do they do during the preseason? Well, they didn't do much, but we're kind of, we are where we are with them. And we've got to move into the season with this group that we have. So health is going to play. I know Mike last night, you're talking about luck or one of the guys were talking about luck. Health is going to be where we need to see some luck this season where for some reason, the dolphins never seem to have that luck. If we can stay on the left side of this starting the starting unit on this debt chart, I think we'll be in okay shape, to be honest with you. Yeah, I mean, I think right now today, September 8th, past rush, secondary, are the two biggest questions had in the season. Well, I receiver, yeah, it's a question at some level, but I think past versus secondary, they can be adequate there. And then they'll be competitive most weeks. If they're less than adequate, there's going to be a few games which are not going to be pretty, but like we said at the top, Raiders this week, and I agree with you, Josh, I think this is the most winnable game on this schedule. I've been saying it all off season, even more so than the Jets.
I think this is a winnable game. They're facing a quarterback and Kirk Cousins who, I know it's not the same staff. I know it's not the same players. They beat his balls off last year in Atlanta. He was terrible in Atlanta. And he had far more weapons last year with Atlanta than he's going to have Sunday, funny faces of Miami. Now, I know Miami ain't the same team I defense. I get that. But Cousins was terrible last year. Yeah, I mean, this game, there's this might be one of the only games. Maybe the only game where you line up the two rosters. Miami's got an edge. It probably half or maybe slightly more than half of some of the positions. This is a very winnable game for the dolphins. Yeah, I just want to, I'm sorry. I didn't even cut you off, Josh. Just one thing too, kind of leading into this whole conversation. Today was the first day that I saw what I felt like a realistic power rankings by PFF.
And they didn't have Miami dolphins last, where a lot of people are automatically, they throw their hands up, oh, and three in the preseason, they look like crap. They're last in the NFL. They were like fifth or sixth from last. And that's kind of where I feel like they are right now. And the Raiders were below the dolphins, which is I think realistic as well to your point. So anyway, Josh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to cut you off there. No, not at all. I mean, I saw the same rankings. I was actually going to say the same thing. And look, we don't have a Brock Bauer's type player on this team. We don't have a Max Crosby type player on this dolphins team. But as Ian mentioned, you know, there is a little bit of a core here that you can build around. And yeah, you stack the rosters up against each other. I do give an edge to Miami slightly. And everything else is the same. We've got two first year head coaches. And there's a lot of unknown. You give maybe a slight edge to the Raiders simply because it's a home game. But again, like, this is a chance. Like you have a chance to go in here and make a statement.
And it's just figuring out how to get Devon H. Ann the ball. I wouldn't be surprised if he touches the ball more than 25 times. I want to see some creativity from Bobby Sloughick, who was here last year. We know the bike with Daniel called the plays. And everyone that's going to say, look, he was the reason for the downfall in Houston. Then he came here and got a gift. But the one thing that I don't think is really being talked about enough is there's a lot of continuity within this coaching staff and in the front office. And we haven't had that in Miami in a very long time. But I sat down with Jeff Hathley for a little while last week. And we were talking about how the coaches are working together, the vision that they see. And they're very much on the same page. So now it's a question of getting these young players to understand the information and then execute. We're going to see some mistakes. And ultimately, like the turnover battle is what's going to determine this game. If Miami can take care of the football, they should have a chance at the end to win this game.
And I think a lot of people are really excited for me. Maybe the biggest question is, what is Malik Willis going to do with his feet? I think they're going to run the heck out of the ball. I wouldn't be surprised if we see 40 rushes in 60 plays. But yeah, it's going to be a low scoring affair. And hopefully we got the dolphins coming out on top and then we'll have a lot to talk about going into week two. Yeah. And if you think they're going to come out on top, watch this segue, Josh. Everyone go to Kelsey.com and use the promo code Dolphin's Talk. A new football season brings us big questions who makes the playoffs who wins their division and who takes home the title on Kelsey. America's number one. They're on America's number one prediction market platform. It lets you trade those predictions in a live market. Week one of the NFL season is days away. And you know, we will all be watching the game. Miami will play the Raiders this weekend. Will they beat the Raiders right now? Miami is currently trading at only 37%. But making a hundred dollar trade on Miami winning would pay out $258.
Hey, damn good. On Kelsey, you're trading against peers in a live market, meaning there's no house. And as the probability changes, you can buy in or buy out of your position. You can trade the draft pick the game and more on Kelsey. Everyone download Kelsey or go to Kelsey.com use a promo code Dolphin's Talk and get $25. When you trade $25, K-A-L-S-H-I, Kelsey. Trade on anything. 18 and over only restrictions and eligibility requirements apply. Event contract trading involves risk. It may not be suitable for all investors. Kelsey products are not available in all jurisdictions. Prices, values and available markets may differ from those mentioned. For more information, see Kelsey.com backslash regulatory. I have a question though. And this is a very important question. Is there an opportunity to bet on Kelsey? How many pieces of gum Jeff Hathley is going to chew during the game?
I love your site. Maybe not this week, but I bet you. I will follow up. Yes. Maybe in the coming weeks and the coming weeks, Kelsey, because they got a lot of stuff, you know, like that over at Kelsey.com. And look, it's a free $25 when you sign up and you're putting your first $25. You have some fun with it. Maybe you can make some money there at Kelsey. Just use a promo code. All right. I think right now, head into this game, guys. There's four key matchups we got to keep an eye on. Number one, Miami's offensive line versus Max Crosby. Number two, Miami's wide receivers, which is very young, versus the Raider secondary. Can these young wide receivers get open in a real game? We don't know. Number three, this one kind of scares me the most. Who's going to cover Brock Bowers for Miami? We don't know. And the last one, can Miami generate a pass for us without blitzing, which if they have the blitz, it just puts more pressure on the secondary. So I'll let you guys jump in on any one of those four, or if we have another one that you think
of these matchups you sort of want to talk about. Biggie starts off. So, you know, Brock Bowers, interestingly enough, he's going to be like their only wide receiver, I think. Nobody's ever stink. I mean, are there young at least that they got nothing? They got Jalen Nailer as their number one. They got Trey Tucker as their number two, and they have Jack Beck, B-E-C-H. That's maybe a little, yeah. So again, as long as you can figure out a way to cover Brock, and last season he had a down season. And I remember that because I picked him up second in the second round of my fantasy football draft, and he disappointed me. And I know he was out a couple of games, but still you're out three games, and you only have 680 yards for the season. So it's a very, very winnable matchup for the dolphins. And I know, you know, you got a Jacob Rodriguez somewhere in the middle. Can he go head to head with a Brock Bowers? This is going to be the first time we're going to get a chance to see if, you know, how good Jacob is.
And also our linebacker course, that's probably where you're going to see a lot of the success of Brock gets that ball. But I'd love to see some pressure on the quarterback, so he's not sitting there watching Brock go left and right and getting those extra steps, because that's where we're going to get beat. Yeah, I'm with E on this one. To me, the player has to be Chop Robinson, and he has to take a step. First round pick, this is your three for him. The biggest step that players take is from year two to year three, and I understand this is a new regime. But it's pretty much him, and Josh E. who Chase has been a journeyman. We know that Kenneth Grant last year's first draft pick is going to start on the IR. And we hope that Zach Sealer can be returned to his former self, but we know that when he doesn't have a Kalea's Campbell or a Christian Wilkins alongside him, it's different when he gets the double T. So I'm really excited for Jeff Hathley who's going to call the defense to see what he has in store. The way he explained it to me is that he loves to set offences up on first and second down,
and then he does something completely different on third down. So I'm very curious to see what package is he put some play here. And again, it's only week one. So yeah, that's a music key, but really it's, to me, the question marks Malik Willis. I want to find out who this guy is. And regardless, I heard some comment that was like, you can't even evaluate him because he has no talent around him. And that's no excuse. I agree. So this team needs to find out if Malik Willis is the quarterback of the future or if they're drafting a quarterback with their first pick next year. I understand you're not going to get that answer in one game. But I'm going to see him come out. You still paid him more than 50 million guaranteed. And you essentially obliterated your veterans that you had on the roster to bring him in so that you could get under the cap once he made the decision to let go of two a tongue of ILO and pay all that dead cap money. So I mean, Mike if it's, make if it's Patrick, they just let walk who is arguably their best player on defense.
And yeah, we're going to find out. But to me, he's the X factor. Look, these corners are going to get burned. Like somebody's going to make a mistake. I mean, everybody watching college football the first couple of weeks, it's a blown coverage leads to a big play. You're just trying not to have any of those type of situations. And, but yeah, I mean, you touched on it too. Jacob Rodriguez and I think excites all the fans. And I think letting T dot go and releasing him, I understand safe $3 million against the cap. But that says a lot about the belief behind Jacob Rodriguez. And you know, shoot, I really think that the dolphins are going to surprise some people. I hope that they can get to five wins. I think the overrunners four and a half. But yeah, I'm excited to see how this unfolds. And what actually happens because none of us really know because the preseason show was. Exactly. Exactly. It's a total roller coaster ride.
Yeah, I'm just going to sit back and I'm just going to be like, what are they going to do? I think I know what they're going to do. And you know, I would love to see you. And you know, I would love to see them use their third round pick the tight end. Because Merrick, you know, is kind of this like fullback or can they bring him around is kind of like. A pulling guard almost where you have that sixth offensive lineman. I mean, imagine on the left side with Patrick Paul, came and brought her him. And then you have Devon H and somehow like, remember Ricky Williams, how he would they would do that. And then he would fake to the outside and then hit that a gap and go. I really hope that we get something like that from H and. But yeah, there's going to be a lot of running. So I think you're absolutely right. And if we can use the tight end in that type of style or that format. Yeah. Why the heck not? For Alabama fans watching, I asked Kate and Proctor. I don't remember the highlights. He had the ball a couple times. Oh, yeah. He can move.
Throw a tool. Yeah. And he's not been putting the playbook yet. But we can see Kate and handle the ball a little bit. I mean, he's a big man that can move. I was with him earlier today at this charity event. And I'm really excited. I understand, you know, there were a lot of options for the dolphins to do with that pick. And especially Rubin Bain down here and how good he's looked. But yeah, I'm excited to see what's going to happen here. And we either hate it. We'll love it. We'll say, oh, we need to see another game. And the best part is we get to talk about it all season and get hang out with you guys. Yeah. I mean, look, if they run the ball well, and I think they will, that pick is going to be a home run pick. And I do think one year from now, he's going to be our right tackle. But that's a different conversation for a different day. But I think, and I think not only in this game, I think they're going to run the ball well this year overall. And because that keeps the week pass fresh and the week secondary on the sideline. And the less they're on the field, the better, honestly, the less they're on the field, the better.
Just run the ball, control time of possession. Run it with the will list, run it with a Chan mixing right every now and then short yardage mixing like an alley gourd and every now and then. That's what he's made for. And just control the clock and then, you know, take your chances with ball and Caleb Douglas down the field. You know, find the tight end over the middle. But just control the clock time of possession. And that's the recipe for wins. And I think we're going to see that. And for this week, I'll say this, they, you know, he used that pick in round one on proctor. You look at the Raiders front front seven outside of max crossby. It ain't much. So they, but I mean, they literally have one. Double team. Block one guy. Yeah. Don't let that one guy wreck havoc on you. And they better just block the one guy. Because if they do that, I think we're going to be fine. But I've seen games or one guy, you know, can wreck havoc. Just look at Miles Garrett and Cleveland. That guy was a one man wrecking crew. Don't let max crossby be a one man wrecking crew this week. They got one to cause no one off that line is going to beat you.
Now, I want to see some design quarterback runs. I think we'll see like lead crossby get up field and go underneath. So like those are counters that maybe we'll see in the second half. But yeah, let's let's some curious to see kind of what happens here. And you guys touch on it too. Third and one, you know, 40, 45 yard line, the shoelace of that's what we're going to call it. We can run that play now. Yes, we can run that play. You know, finally we can run that play. Josh, here's a question. I asked everyone this last night because I got to have some fun with this. Who's going to throw for more touchdowns this year? Willis or to knowing Atlanta, he's got far superior weapons than Willis has a Miami. We're all sort of Atlanta. You might not have the job by the end of the month either. Yeah, it's more such that it's Willis. Everyone says that. Yeah, from everybody that I've spoken to in Atlanta and like I'm a two-a-tongue viola fan. I hope that he has a great season and that he plays really well.
The only reason that he's starting week one is that because Penix isn't ready to go. And that's why he was brought there. But as soon as Penix is ready to go, it's his team. And he loses it or he gets hurt. So two unfortunately is the stopgap, you know, but hey, you know, he's a 50 million plus dollar stopgap. I would love to trade places with him, but congrats on the baby on the way as well. But I think it is karaoke, living his best life, man. Did you see that video to me? I need more context, because I hope it's from June, honestly. I don't know. It says it was from a few days ago. Yeah, I don't know. And to me, it makes sense like, all right, wife, he's got kids not feeling well. Like she could go to bed. But the way that it was shot, it was like he was literally just by himself or maybe, I mean, it seemed like a, you know, random person he was sitting down in the chair looking at TV singing away.
Not caring the world, baby. You know what? Maybe that's how he relaxes and he doesn't need other people. That's awesome. Well, but Tua didn't watch TV during the regular season. He, you know, was very, you know, he played his guitar. He, I mean, that's what he does. So it's not completely out of character. But, yeah, I mean, they're starting in Pittsburgh against Aaron Rogers and the Steelers. I think the Steelers with my McCarthy are going to want to make a statement early. Yeah, I'm picking the Steelers in that contest. Pittsburgh's, yeah, that's a team that I can't get a read on right now. That division is so loaded. Like that's the only problem there. Like you got a gauntlet there. I understand you got a new coaching staff in Baltimore. But I mean, like there's so much talent on that team. And then the Bengals offense is arguably one of the lethal. You know, the defense could be a sieve. We don't know yet. But that division to me, those three teams, you know, I put two of them in the playoff side of those three.
And then, you know, brown, you've got at least two in the play. Yeah, the browns and browns. Yeah, well, I'll say it's about the browns. Aside from the quarterback, it's a young roster like Miami. They has a lot of promise. Problem is their quarterback situations way more toxic than ours. So that's why they don't, they just get written off outside of that though. They're roster really ain't awful. But it's just it's a mess with the owner. Therroners worse than ours. So that's why they're also a mess. But they got a lot of bad things going on in Cleveland. But okay, let's talk about this game as you wrap up. Predictions. Ian, you got a score prediction. I do. I'm not doing the whole setup like I have in years. Come on, you don't have to wear it like once or not for this. Not for this week. Yeah. Well, because it is put away. So I know I kind of gave a sneak peek yesterday during our call. And you know, and as we've already talked about, I think that the dolphins do have the edge. I think there are no one has seen. And no one has seen what this true dolphins team is going to look like. So I think they're going to come into Las Vegas and surprise people with the way that they look.
Because no one's seen how they look. And I think Jeff Haffley has got the the culture going in the right direction. And when we saw Moeek Willis in the preseason, he drove 90 some odd yards for a touchdown. Drive and Devon H and look like he had zero rust on his body. So I have I changed my password on my Wi-Fi. My wife's going to be mad about it. So. Vince for the win with the four for the F instead of FOR. She hates me during the football season. What's the score prediction though? What's the score prediction? I'm going to say 27 to 17. Let's do it. 27. Yep. I'm a home. I'm a home or pick here. I'm going to go 20 to 0 17 Miami HN with a rushing touchdown and Malik Willis with a rushing touchdown. There we go. I like it. All right. So I'm not doing the whole right up and stuff this year. But I better do it. He has made a good point. I better do this now because I don't know how many more weeks until I can put this on again. So here's my prediction.
No. Josh every Wednesday for years when it was myself and he and doing the show. I admit I totally ripped this off from Lee Corso. I don't care. I don't care. I love Lee Corso. I miss Lee Corso. They should never took that man off. Okay. He could have been at a show till he's a hundred. Just let him go out there, put the damn head gear at the end. That's all he ever needed to do. So I don't know how many times this year. I'm going to do this. And I'm going to do this again. Until we get to like November. We too. Give me Miami. It's the moment. Second. Riley Patterson field goal. To win. 27. 24. Dolphins win. Yeah. That's the way we start out as season. We've got a couple of people. Seven points. Both you guys. You guys are hammering the over. I'm telling you. I'm telling you the offense. Nobody knows what they're going to look like. And I think this. I think this team could do something on offense. We'll see. I think we're going to score points. Because once again outside of Max Krav. I don't know what the hell the Raiders got on defense. But I think we're going to give up our share too. Just because secondary pass trust. But I think we'll have the ball last. You're going to run. I think we're going to do something on offense.
We'll see. I think we're going to score points. And that's why we're going to score points. We're going to score points. Because secondary pass trust. But I think we'll have the ball last. We're going to rally Patterson. 43 yards. Be able to time expiring. And like I said, it might be the last win until November. But it's a win nonetheless. And we get the first one in the books. That's my pick. Love it. Love it. Love it. Alright. So you guys. Ian, you're going. You're flying out. I want Friday. You said. Flying out Friday. Josh, I tagged you in a post too. If you're around on Saturday. I think you're going out there too, right? You're going out there. Yeah. Yeah. We'll connect. There's a tailgate. Somebody's put this whole thing together with. Damn Rato's backup quarterback. I'm blanking on his name. You wore number 11. You're. You're thinking about crash. Jensen. Jensen. Yeah. He's going to be there. Yeah. That's a Virgil's. But right after Virgil's. We're going to the Las Vegas sign. There's probably going to be a hundred of us. And we're going to be doing a huge picture at 630 at the loss. Welcome to Las Vegas sign. So. Is that 630 local time?
630. Yeah. So it's going to be what 930 or 1030. 930 Eastern. Yeah. I'm going to be live on TV. So maybe. Oh, look at that.
