The real issues, as you are out here, because people are not motivated. And maybe that's one of the main reasons you're here. They just feel overwhelmed and despondent in a way. The war, this war, that war, this tweet, that it's all designed to distract and exhaust you, including the issue that we were just referring to. And we can't fall into that. We can't fall prey to that. We can zig and zag. We can't kick our eye off the ball. And we're not, look at me, in this last crowd, that was crazy. And was the rafters, men, people are showing up.

2:01And they're showing up in small ways, not the big ways. Meaning it's not the shining lights of these big races. It's these small races, 30 and 0 Democrats, legislative state, legislative races. To me, that's the test of where the party is. You win those down baller races. We never, we lost almost 1,000 in the last decade. We're 30 and 0 in the last year and a half. That to me says something biggest about to happen in November. I am in a totally different spectrum on this. I have so much confidence what's going to happen in November. We're going to crush it. We just have to win by huge margins. I don't think that they will stop at anything to try to steal this. They're going to try to steal it. But we will win. Then we have to deal mechanically with how they're trying to steal it, what's being teed up to do so now. And it's precisely what Trump is doing. He's laying the groundwork so he can in closer elections. He used the Department of Justice and others to say these elections were rigged. That's why margin matters, turnout matters. And the margins big enough that's going

3:02to be an academic exercise. When those margins are slow, he's going to litigate every single one of those. And all of us have to be vigilant and have to be prepared. But I think they're going to litigate every single ballot. This initial didn't match. They wrote Don, whatever my initial, initial, they didn't put a period on this one. I think it's going to be similar to hanging chads. It's worse than hanging chads to your point. I couldn't agree with you more. And I think the biggest, the most insignificant, the one thing. I mean, we've been screaming a yelling about this for over a year and a half. And people have accused me, honestly, of being hyperbolic on all this stuff. When it comes to ICE agents, when it comes to the Department of Justice and monitors, when it comes to the abuses of the system in terms of trying to get our voting roles and use the DMV and others, now respect we litigate and all that for years. California's, by the way, always the first on the receiving out of many of these things. That said, the postal service, that's next level in cities. That's what I'm talking about. That's a serious judge has already said no. Yeah. But according to the law and the law, they're going forward. We're going forward. And he said they're not ready.

4:04Like, this is going to disenfranchise. 60 days and we literally now are, I mean, if it doesn't come back after the post marked, the fact they can slow down then, the return of that mail, they can slow down receiving that mail. They can send it to you, but not to you on time. I mean, that, that eyes wide open. And that requires oversight, Congress, vigilance, you, me, everybody, surround sound, cold red, aggressive condemnation, and demanding transparency. Last time I checked it was illegal to defy at federal judges ruling. I'm called school, like you, I believe. Isn't this fraudulent? Rule of law, the rule of voter suppression. Yes, by definition, but Trump's done that on how many half a dozen other occasions. That's why I wonder why you're so competent. Because we're going to win by margins that will pad my anxiety. Like Hungary. Precisely, precisely.

5:05And they thought Orban had it wired, wired the press, wired institutions was going to wire that outcome. And the margins were such that he could not just anything except he fell short and he's disappeared. And I think that's what's going to happen. I really believe it. But again, that requires turnout like this to turn out on November in record numbers, not just here 60 days before at a rally. So it's how lucky feel it everywhere I go. I mean, you've been out, man. It's just the different vibe. Democrats are wildly outperforming. He can't even, he's not even making an argument. Defenders record. The only thing is, it's the vanglory of naming everything and getting as much as he can because he knows the gigs up this November as presidency as he knows it's ending this November. Have you seen this much? He talks about waste fraud and abuse. Remember Doge or whatever. But it seems to be the most wasteful, fraudulent, abusive regime that we have had. Look at all of it.

6:05He's spending $1 billion on a ballroom, a hell of head, an arch. On his airplane, $934 million. He's transferred from the Pentagon. The reflecting pool. The reflecting pool. I mean, you know, but it's what he's taking from his supporters. $3.8 billion was lost. 98% decline in that meme coin. And he took over $600 million personally. Can you tell the story about you, you're, were you in the oval? And he talked about Bitcoin. I literally sit in the oval. It was just surreal. Every single thing, he was just, you know, he was talking about all this stuff on the wall. He pointed to FDRs, painting. And I was like, oh, God, here we go. Third term, he goes, no, four. I'm like, OK. So I just, you know, just doing the whole, the dog has shown a pony show. But he starts going like this, just randomly. I'm like, what are you doing? And I literally said, what are you doing? He goes, hey, I did a meme coin. Meen coin goes, I thought it was a coin. Turns out it's not even a coin. I said, what do you mean? He goes, I just got a $600 million. He thought it was like a coin. He thought it was an actual coin.

7:06I said, literally, I started smiling a lot. Because I didn't know he's making any of this up. And I said, so what, he said, yeah, he's got $600 million to check. I said, $600 million. I said, that sounds like a gift. He goes, what do you mean a gift? And then he got serious. I said, it sounds like a gift. He goes, oh, you mean Melania's. And I said, she has one, too. He goes, yeah, Melania's got her on. I said, no, I didn't mean Melania, because I didn't know Melania. I mean yours. And then he goes, that's where no one's saying that. I said, everybody's saying that. I said, literally, not the guys out Fox News. Everyone is saying that. And then he moves on to the next topic. But that's $600 million that he is, I believe, stealing from my opinion, from the American people, from this constituent. I thought he made it up nine months later. We saw the tax turns. And it was $634 million. He was actually being literal. Can't make this stuff up. I mean the guitaridget, I would get so frustrating. People say it was a $400 million gift. It wasn't. It's the $900 million that was transferred from ICBM,

8:07missile defense, and the improvements there for a ballistic. And it got missiles. It was sent over to retrofit the plane that he's taking with them, all the terror policy and lowering the terrorists to get the golf courses, Eric Trump, all the folks, no wait, cough, and look at my family, all the critical mineral deals, all the Pentagon deals. You saw the 15 investments that Eric and Don Jr. have where they've received $6.3 billion in federal contracts, $3.2. They've already received $3.1 of that. They're promised the fact that we have state and crony capitalism, where we have 10% of, or close to 10% of Intel. I were taking over MP materials, 20%, 25% compensation for chips to be sold, getting chips to be sold to the UAE, because he got money from the government in terms of world liberty financial. Holy shit. I'm like holy shit. I love the question about this. I'm sorry. It's not appropriate language, but what the fuck is going on in this country?

9:09And every single one of these damn people are complicit. That means you, Johnson. It means everyone around the damn table. Every single one of you, Rubio, you're complicit. JD Vance complicit. All of you are complicit. The entire primetime lineup at Fox News, every Sean, that means you, all of you are complicit in this complete grift. It's an outrage. They're liquidating our inheritance. They're selling the soul of this country. They are. All of them are more accountable. And some, we knew who Trump was, but it's all the enablers around him. Every single damn one of you that are selling out this country or kids and grandkids, that's not a Democrat talking. That's an American talking, and you should be ashamed of yourselves. I didn't mean to step on your moment, but I liked your passion about this. I'm sorry. Because that's where the fight is. That's what people want. But that's why I'm here. Seriously, I'm trying to channel that. Yeah. That's why I'm here. That's why I'm here because I can't take it. And I can't take the calm. This normalization. It's like, no, another news. Oh, well, he just re-knives. Yeah, it's just, well, that's Trump being Trump. Next story, well, up next.

10:10And then like, no, not up next. Then hell, you just, what, what, go back, rewind. This is not, none of this can be normalized. But the news treats it as if it is normal. And the false equivalence. And the thing that gets me, when you're talking about the false equivalence, that's important. But the thing that gets me when they talk about this Katariah jet, I've hearing the news now say he's on Air Force One. And I'm like, that is not Air Force One. They should say he's on the jet that we paid for from the Katariah's, or whatever, but they call it Air Force One. Yeah, they're over there. And they normalize it. By the way, I was with the person that got the phone call, by the way, Munich, met Representative of the Carton, the Katari government, sat there, Don True Story. And he said he had to leave. We're at, we're having a quick meeting. I don't know why I was even in this room. Was with all these fancy people, Munich. And Representative says, well, I got to catch a plane. And I couldn't help myself. I said, well, you have a plane. I thought you gave it to Donald Trump. And I thought I made a mistake. All these folks were turned around like I defended. And he goes, can I talk to you about that?

11:11I said, yeah, sits back down, tells me the phone call he received from Donald Trump. I did not know this. You may know this. You're a fancy reporter. You probably reported this. I didn't know this. That he got the idea, Trump, of the $400 million plane, because Air to One got to plane. Same plane, same model. Well, that up really. And he heard about that. So he said, well, wait a second. What about me? And the representative of the guitar government goes, put yourself, sir, in my position. We've got troops at the border. And he mentioned five other issues. He goes, what would you have done? I said, well, I want to know what you did. But at least I understand from your perspective. And then he begged me to say that it's, he said, it's not a personal gift. I said, yes, it is. It says, well, in the contract, it says, it's not. I said, it's a personal gift. Do you think that plane will ever go to the museum or he's going to continue to fly? The museum is him. It's his. I agree. And what he's doing, what watch this? He's going to raise money, watch this. I mean, I probably already has. He's probably going to sell hours like it's a net jet

12:14to take Air Force One to fundraise for the museum. So you're some corporate leader. You've already worn out four or five other knee pads, sold your soul. And he might as well just get the hour on the jet with the $10 million check. Let's get this out of the way. Because people ask about 2028. And you said you want to become a bigger tent party. You also said, as I was speaking, we've heard language like take our country back. And you think that you don't always go along with the Democratic party. No. And leadership is not happy about that. Going back to, I mean, sort of the beginning, the beginning when I was doing same-sex marriages, 2004, winter of love. And they want another to do with me, the party. We married 4,036, couples from 46 states. But no, I tend to march to be a different drum, but it's not my own. It's just reflective of what I feel I'm responsible and accountable for, which is to lead, not to manage.

13:15I mean, that's the job on these roles is to lead. And sometimes you get it, you gotta get ahead of your ski. Sometimes you make mistakes. Sometimes you do early. Sometimes you're just flat out wrong. But I tend to iterate. I tend to want to get ahead of the curve. And I think about all the things parties talking about is relates to affordability. No bullshit. Like we did most of everything that's on the agenda, years and years ago, first. You did that. Look, can we just table that just for some? Because you mentioned what you did for same-sex marriage. And I'm talking about that. You don't always agree with the party. And you go with your gut. Can we just talk about the trans thing? There were some people who were not happy with this. I totally get it. Yeah, it was harder for me. I mean, look, and I'm rightly criticized from the right for my advocacy on behalf of the trans community going back to time when I was mayor, when HRC and others were not including trans rights. And all my appointments in this space and being an advocate and look at the laws I've signed, which are the toughest in the country in terms of protecting trans community, also a trans-cott sign.

14:16But on the issue of sports, competitive sports, it wasn't an intellectual exercise for me. It was an actual issue. And it was one of fairness that I couldn't square. And it came back two years in a row. And it was on my lap, it was on my desk. So it wasn't an intellectual exercise. And I couldn't figure out how to make it fair. And so when I was asked, do I think it's fair? I expressed my point of view. But it's a point of view that comes from the place of advocacy and love for people that just want to survive, man. And I hate the politicalization of it. I hate the weaponization of it. And I despise those that are trying to use this in a way that tears down the community. It's just a small part of the population. It's not even, you know, you see what's happening with the WNBA. It's not even an issue, you know, a men now, or at least a man saying what? Yeah, they're coloring it in. They're using it as a wedge issue. And it's devastating. And what I hate about being honest in my response around the fairness in competitive sports.

15:18And again, that's what I believe. I could make it up. I could lie to you. I don't want to lie to you. Is I hate that that has been used in a way that has been hurtful to people. And that was never my intention. My God, he's actually the opposite. And that comes with receipts, man. This is, you're talking a guy for decades that's been way out front. And I put that up record up against anyone's and that was not. This was years ago before it was even, I don't think it was legal yet. You married one of my friends, Thomas Roberts, you were the opponent of this wedding. Yeah. It wasn't fashionable to- No, wait, it was, come on. It was the leaders in our own party, including a lot of LGBTQ leaders that were against all this. They said, let's just focus on civil unions. And here I am. Nope, by the way, forgive me. We're literally a Kings. I mean, this, I read those letters from Birmingham. Yeah. It's always the right time to do the damn right thing. I literally was quoting them when I launched, when we announced the initiative and moved forward with those first marriages. So I was inspired by King. I was inspired by the South. I was inspired by movements. And so that's been the cause of my life. And I always fought for minority rights,

16:19but I do think this is a different issue, sports versus the broader- Is there a solution? What would you- I tried. That's the thing. I tried for two years. We met with all sides of this issue. We actually brought in experts on this, how to figure this out, and we couldn't. And I worked with, I tried to get the legislature to move on something that would be considered fair. And then we ultimately came up with a compromise that no one's happy with, which is we would have- Three people on the stand and the fourth, if someone was quote unquote, impacted by someone of a different, you know, that was, you know, biologically born differently. And it was tough. And that's how we ended up. And again, no one's happy. But I just, you know, to me, it's never- I think it was the governor Utah said it best. Never's been more focused on so few people. So look, I don't want to dwell on this because I think this relates to why you're doing this, because you know they made trans rights an issue.

17:20They're going to be talking about that. In 2006, they're going to make it an issue there. Everything's going to be, what is a woman and all that. That was their main issue last time. Jesus. How about cost of gas, groceries, utilities? People are not asking you about that. You're kidding. Literally, it's funny you bring this up. I mean, I've been everywhere. And I've been in Michigan. I've been Nevada. I've been in three states so far in the last four days and the South three days and the South, not once has issues to come up. I can give you 25 other issues that have come up. This is a manufactured issue in order to divide us, order to get us distracted from the real issues that they can't solve. And that's the difference here. It's the magnitude. It's just, it's so, you know, vert. And it's so extraordinary to sell out the people that believed in you. Yeah. And that, that to me is the most extraordinary thing. He plays them for suckers. He plays them for fools. They allow it every time.

18:21Yeah, I have empathy for them. They pay his legal bills. They think they're donating to the campaign. It's going directly to him. Yeah. So have you, I don't know if you have, sorry, this mosquitoes were in the South. It's crazy or net. Where's the boat spray? I'm the South wall of it, man. I grew up here in this shit. It's crazy. I'm the cool guy. It's hot. You walk outside immediately. You take a shower, walk outside. It's like, why don't I even take a shower? It's ridiculous. And everybody's got pits. I know. You've got, I know. Everybody's got pits. I know. Well, it's the little Lenin. You got it. Lenin is a trick. Is that Lenin? Yeah, it's Lenin, because it looks great. That's, I, I don't even notice that, Lenin. Yeah, it's Lenin. You got, you even doing one of the podcasts. I mean, I don't know. Have you been to the grocery store lately? I don't know if you shot. I literally do the shot. Well, not always, but I, five times a week. I go. Five times a week. I go every other night getting stuff. I go, my, my local grocery store is a Wegman's and I go, this is nothing to do with the Wegmans. It's just prices in general.

19:21And I am, look, I am okay, right? But even me now, I look and I go, what? Whoa. I know this. How much am I paying for this? I know. I know. And I think about how we can address that issue in a meaningful way. That's what I said. When I said, table affordability. Now let's talk about. No, no, no. I mean, I think like, you know, in healthcare, I'm, you know, we're, we're lowering the cost of prescription drugs by manufacturing our drugs. So we're not subsidizing $11 insulin, not subsidized at cost. California is doing it through CalRx, providing 400 free diapers for every newborn, doing freeing the lock zone. We've done free inhalers for asthma, face into all of our public schools. We're looking at subsidizing more child care slots. We've already subsidized $149,000 more than any other state. We looking to do more. We provided a brand new grade preschool for all saving $13,000 a year for every four year old. We've got to go to the council five years ago with $1,500, but I didn't call them newsroom accounts so you don't know that so that we could begin at the beginning. 1.9 billion dollars put in there. You mean you don't like your name on everything? Man, I made a mistake.

20:22I should have mentioned it. Should have named them newsroom accounts. No one knows we did it. This is me off. Actually does. And actually I'm like, man, I was like, what a great idea. I'm like, Jesus, I did it six years ago. All right. So you mentioned Fox News and you mentioned, you know, did I mention all the things you talked to you said the tire prying timeline. Because if you listen to them, California is a shit hole. It's going down the two. It's literally the temple, all the American economy. And you really shout all these things if you look at it, it's not necessarily so. So they will say, they're so with what they will say on Fox News is, why is Gavin Newsom out here in South Carolina has stayed as a jambles and he's not serving the people of South Carolina? Well, I mean, I mean, serving the people of California, excuse me. I think they deserve more than a $7.25 minimum wage here. I think that is there more than a governor refuses to expand Medicaid. We not only expand and Medicaid, but we have, we've only stayed in America providing universal healthcare regardless of pre-existing conditionability to pay. And your immigration status, I know how offensive that is to people and I get how controversial that is. We delivered that. We delivered $20 minimum wage for fast food workers, $25 for healthcare workers, $17.40

21:28for everybody else. We have the biggest subsidies in the country for child care. We've created a brand new grade preschool for all. We have after school for all summer school for all. We have invested in our growth engines, our UCs and CSUs. And we have a GDP that grew 40% since I've been governor. That's faster than any developed nation in the world, faster than any state in the United States of America. No one comes close and let me double down on that. We're not only running surpluses again, but California, six of the top 10 market cap companies on planet earth were born in my state. The 10th poll of the US economy is reflected disproportionately in California based companies, $366 billion Wall Street Journal last week of investment in startups in California, $4,000. That is three times more than all the other 49 states combined. The next state was, it was $27 billion in New York.

22:28My point is we have no peers. Number one in manufacturing, number one in hunting, number one in forestry. We're trying to get in. I'm going to keep going. We have a lot of mosquitoes too. I'm just saying California is America only more so. But if you listen to them, the crime is out of control. He's not doing anything about that. Did you see the crime numbers? And did you see the, I just literally published them. Why do you think I'm asking you about this? Like, like, two ex higher here on the Republican damn leadership. We have the lowest homicide rates in recorded history in California, double digit declines in every category last year. Lower crime rates. So when I start there, literally making it all up. But people are leaving and they're going to Texas. People are leaving. They're going to take in their business. They're leaving. How do you have $366 billion of investment last year? Why is Elon Musk sitting there opening his world headquarters, R&D headquarters in California? Why is all the best talent? Why is 32 of the top 50 market cap AI companies there? Why is all the space tech exploding in California? Come on, man.

23:28Come on, man. Don't buy that bullshit from Sean Hannity and that Jesse Waters guy and all these guys that are out there selling fear and panic and common indifference on climate change and democracy, bullshit. California derangement syndrome. That's all it is. What does California do then about? I'm in trouble on this interview. No, you're not in trouble because I don't, I just, I don't, you know what I hate more than anything. I don't think you know this. I don't like interviews. It's not an interview. We're having a conversation. Yeah, we're having a conversation. Yeah, I get a little... You're the governor of California. You said you've made all of these changes and you've corrected the things that you believe need to be corrected. Then what do you do about someone who's trying to fix the election by using our postal system to suppress it? Well, we're just, I mean, a lot of public attention. Ten millions of dollars where we're supporting our election. I thought you were doing something new though, no? Well, I'm about to add to that. You are. I was giving you the budget. No, okay. The surprise.

24:29I know the world's just low sound bites. Everyone wants a little quick response, but life's complicated and you're in the policy. You've got to be able to express it. But here it is. Forgive it. More, more long-winded than it should be. We just provided tens of millions of dollars for all election workers at the county level to help with staffing, et cetera. We have a whole strategy as it relates to Dioge. We are concerned about the Department of Justice having oversight and sending out these election watches, which they did last November. And we flooded the zone with our own election integrity officers to basically monitor what they were doing. We're going to do the same this November. We just, to your point, made it a felony if anyone interferes with the chain of custody as it relates to the voting machines and the ballots themselves. That doesn't matter if you're a state employee or a federal employee. We're sending a message on that. We also have very strong rules and regulations as it relates to the time to count your ballot as long as it's postmarked before election day. And we have one of the most aggressive vote by mail initiatives in the country.

25:33And we're working with our unions within the state, the Postal Service. We're looking at the staffing levels to make sure that they're adequate and have some transparency so we can anticipate problems in that respect. But what are Democrats doing? They're Democrats doing it. You can't criticize them. You are a Democrat. You're a part of it. I'm part of it. Yes. Are you part of the problem? Hey, society becomes how we behave. We are our behaviors. I get it. There's a great, you've been on the 405. I think someone made this up. They told me there was a billboard on the 405 freeway. And you know the 405. I can't go on the 405. I can't afford the gas. I have an electric car. You haven't seen the gas prices in California. Apparently, I'm surprised you noticed with your electric car. That's your respect. You're smart enough to understand where the future is going. That said, the mythical billboard on the 405 says you're not stuck in traffic. I'm making the point. You were just making it. It says you're not stuck in traffic. 45 minutes later, you get 10 yards closer.

26:34And underneath, and small letters says you are traffic. Society becomes how you behave. So you're 100% right. Yes. This has all happened on our watch. I'm a Democrat. Keep going. I'm not going to acknowledge in your point. OK. So then what would you have the leadership do? What's the leadership? The leadership. What's the leadership? How came Jeffries? He's the leader of the jacket party right now. I know. I mean, I matter respect for Hawking. But he's one part, many body. Do you think he's doing a good job as leader? I think he is. Tell me. And I've been working very closely with him. So I have a very strong point of view on the basis of the performance. I've seen in a granular way as we've worked together on Proposition 50 to redistribute in California as we're working to make sure we deliver on the promise we promoted with those maps. And that is get our candidates over the finish line. The fundraising efforts, which we've been part of in California in the coordinated campaign that I've been proud to be part of. So I think he is doing an incredible job. Yeah. But you're still very critical. I feel that I feel that the energy in the Democratic party is on the progressive side.

27:35I feel like centrist corporate Democrats worry about that. They don't like the DSA. They don't like the progressives. They don't have leadership roles or committee roles that they should. The AOC's more of a voice. She's got a big voice. AOC and she's carved it out and she's deserved it. I mean, look, I don't want to get into committee assignments. I don't understand the nuances of that and who's up who's down in terms of seniority and all that. That's not my job description. That said, the issue of corporate and all these labels. I care less about the damn label. So I'm serious. And by the way, maybe it's because I come from San Francisco. This is how we're dean or it's Ralph Nader. It's progressives. It's Green Party. It's the OGs of progressive. It's always been the zeitgeist of our party. It's part of who we are. And I think it's the show they want. They want us distracted on all that. When vast majority of us overwhelmingly agree on fundamental and core principles.

28:41And so I'm just not, I don't fall preyed on that nonsense. In the time that we have left, what do you think of the DSA? I have a great respect for their energy. The energy they bring into the party. The charisma behind many of their more successful candidates. I have disagreements on a number of issues. And then on a series of other issues, I'm like, not only do I have no disagreements, then they're done that. I'm like, give me a minute. Well done. I'm like, we already did that. You want this policy? I want that. I mean, like, you know, they'd say, well, it's time for the universe. Oh, good. Time for Lauren. I mean, a lot of the things they're advocating for, we've already delivered. So I don't get as offended by it. It's Texas windable. 100%. 100%. You two things. You've got a once in generation talent in the Democratic Party. And you have once in a generation. Abominable. I mean, almost, who is this Paxing guy? He's got to be a worst candidate they've ever put up. I mean, maybe they want to worst historically bad candidates ever to be put up in a major state.
