Don’t Forget To Eat

How do we care for ourselves during times of change and uncertainty?

The people coming out of slavery in Egypt were given some unusual instructions for their meal.

“This is how you shall eat it: your loins girded, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand, and you shall eat it hurriedly. It is the Passover of the LORD.” — Exodus 12:11

Even positive change comes with stress.

Sometimes we don’t know where we’re going.

We don’t know how long it will take.

We just know we have to be ready for whatever comes next.

And part of being ready means caring for ourselves.

We have to eat

if we’re going to have the strength

to make the journey.

It may not be the usual meal—

prepared or eaten in the usual way—

but it’s a meal that can’t be skipped.

No matter what is going on,

we can’t forget to eat.

I’m Horace McMillon. This is 60 Seconds of Hope. Peace be with you.
