Hundreds of mental health therapists have quit the VA since the second Trump administration began.

Siting heavy workloads, ethical issues from new policies and staff shortages.

Veterans like Navy vet Michelle Phillips from Ohio lost her weekly PTSD sessions

when her therapist left due to these changes, forcing her into group therapy or out of pocket care.

All four of that James Jones saw his sessions cut in half amid colleague exits.

ProPublica interviewed dozens of staff and patients, revealing exit surveys where workers

called mental health services understaffed and burned out.

DA spokesperson Peter Casparowitz pushed back saying issues are limited and worse under

prior leadership. On a brighter note, at the VFW Washington conference, Secretary Collins

addressed veterans directly. VFW Action Corps weekly details how he rolled back a controversial

regulation on disability ratings after swift backlash, saying, when the VA does something wrong,

we'll fix it. He highlighted faster claims processing, dropping backlogs from 137 to 77 days,

and handling three million claims despite cuts.

WSB TV covered Collins's Georgia Capitol visit, where he announced simplifying disability forms

from 18 pages to three or four, ditching redundant requests like full military history.

Still, Georgia Sen, John Ossoff criticized a reversed policy linking benefits to health management.

Congressman Steve Cohen's office crossed Collins on claims accuracy, dipping to 81.73 percent

per VA dashboards amid backlogs at 94,611 and Pact Act surges.

Task and purpose notes mixed veteran reactions to a new anti-fraud tool,

scanning claims for tell-tale signs, with some fearing it treats legit vets like criminals,

while others back curbing scams. Social media echoes these divides.

Veterans praise speedgames but slam mental health gaps and fraud huts.

VFW Commander Carol Whitmore testified to Congress, urging fixes for care access,

and bills like the Major Richard Star Act blocked again amid procedural fights.

Collins also testified before the House VA Committee defending reorganization plans

per U.S. medicine while facing legislative pushback. These stories show a VA in flux,
