Bienvenido a tiempo.
de la historia.
Oh, so, so, yeah.
Today, today, well, actually,
yesterday, I ordered the refrigerator.
I've got it all picked out.
I ordered it.
And then I looked today at the,
you know, how do you say la letra pequeña?
Do you know how to say that in English?
I was thinking that the,
well, I don't know, really,
that the small letra.
We don't, we don't say small.
We actually say in English,
we say the fine print.
The fine print.
I didn't know it.
So, I was looking at the fine print.
Yeah, so the interesting part.
Yeah, yeah, the way they give you the details that,
ooh, that might be good or bad, right?
And it said in the delivery note,
you know, it said about the delivery.
It said it could, it said,
the product was not in stock.
So, they took the order,
but they said, okay, it will be,
they have to get it from the manufacturer
and then send it to me.
Meanwhile, my refrigerator is now
as warm as the rest of my house.
It's kind of said me para nada, right?
It's, my refrigerator is no good, although,
although the freezer part is working.
So that's good.
I've been able to take some optional things
and put them in the freezer to keep them.
So, I looked at the fine print and I decided,
I can't do this.
No puedo, I said to myself.
So, I canceled the order and I ordered again
from another trusted shop
who apparently are going to deliver it tomorrow.
Mejor, no, mucho mejor.
Yeah, but it's a pain, the neck.
Yeah, doing all that things.
Yeah, all those things.
All those things.
So, let's see.
So, hopefully, at this time tomorrow,
I will be able to tell you proudly
that I'm the owner of a new refrigerator.
And I'll be.
Ha, ha, ha, ha.
Orgullos, I'm in there.
Exactly.
And the crowd goes wild.
Let there be refrigeration.
Clano, I will be very happy when it happens.
And David, I told you, I went for,
I'm going for a very tall refrigerator
because, eh, I'm a tall guy.
But, B, it just gives me a bit more.
I'm going to be able to put things upright.
Dippie, you know, you put a bottle of coke in there,
upright, no problem.
See, I eat, no problem, I must.
Because I'm getting a two meter fridge, David.
Caller, no, not as tall as Paul Gasol,
as you said yesterday, but Pirocasi.
So, ha, ha, ha, ha.
So, if basketball players come over to my house,
they can, they can easily,
they can comfortably reach things in my refrigerator.
Uh-huh.
So, anyway, we'll see.
Yeah, very much, right?
We'll see.
Hopefully I get it tomorrow.
Although I had another, another little twist, David,
in the story.
Oh, throw, hmm, detalle.
Yeah.
So, I was, I was, I was actually online.
I was teaching a class online this afternoon.
And while I was teaching, my phone started ringing.
And I couldn't answer it because I was working.
I was teaching.
Was the police?
Well, it could have been, but I called back
and it was the delivery company.
But I didn't reach the right people.
So, it seems like they have a message for me,
and I've not been able to confirm it.
So, either they write, maybe they were saying,
oh, it can't arrive tomorrow.
It's possible.
Yeah.
So, tomorrow will be, hopefully, hopefully tomorrow
will be the dramatic conclusion to our story.
But maybe not.
Or there could be another chapter.
Otro capítulo.
But who knows?
Anyway, anyway, my refrigerator.
That's the story.
Sí, tendré tienes.
Yeah, oh, yeah.
I mean, I, it's been enough to spend eight minutes
talking about it on the radio about my refrigerator today.
But my, my, you know, the drive timers are with me.
I feel the support of the drive time community here.
Right?
Anyway, let's get things started, everybody.
Why don't we begin our show with an interactive section?
How about today's Twitter translation?
Ah, the Twitter translation.
That's right.
So, it's that part of the show that you can participate from home, from, from the comfort
of your home or from your car.
Pero cuidado, si estás conduciendo, right?
Drive safely.
It is drive time.
Y, ¿me quile millar?
Sí, es true.
I'm Kyle Miller.
It's true.
OK, so, tell me how to say this one.
It's a, it's a good one today, I think.
No me gustan los resfriados, los, los refrescos.
Perdona.
¿Me gustan los refrescos ni siquiera Coca-Cola?
O la Coca-Cola, no mejor.
Ni siquiera la Coca-Cola.
Ni siquiera.
Refresco.
Bueno.
¿Qué es el peor?
I think it's an easy one, but it's a bit tricky for, for that reason.
Ni siquiera.
Y refrescos.
Si no, no es hard to say refrescos.
Mm.
Pero eso es también un word regional.
Some people, like FIT, I'm sure, would say one thing,
and I say one thing, and Alberto would say another thing.
And I would say another thing.
And you'd say another thing?
And it might not be correct.
Well, you never know.
It could be different.
This is actually regional, even among native English speakers.
So it gives me the chance to talk about this.
Come see the refresh school.
Mm.
We'll talk about that in a few minutes.
But meanwhile, it's time to get warmed up.
We don't want to go in here and pull a muscle.
Right?
We don't want to hurt ourselves.
So let's warm up in the warm up gym.
The warm up gym.
Warm up gym.
Warm up gym.
Warm up gym.
Warm up gym.
All right, everybody.
We're warming up.
Here we are, calentando motores.
Right, warming up a little bit.
And we're going to start with some sentences of translation.
I will say it in Spanish.
Yo en españolito.
And English.
Ah.
Claro, claro.
I'll say it in Spanish and you say it in English.
Okay, here we go.
Number one.
Esa.
No es mi problema.
That's not my problem.
Ese no es mi problema.
That's not my problem.
Ese no es mi problema, David.
That's not my problem.
Aún no se ha tomado ninguna decisión.
Aún no se ha tomado ninguna decisión, no decision has been made yet, no decision,
no decision has been made yet, no decision has been made yet, aún no se ha tomado ninguna
decisión, ha habido un cambio, ha habido un cambio,
ha habido un cambio, ha habido un cambio,
es bien a change. ¿Could it be it's been a change? It has been.
Not really, because every time we use Aber, Gonache, Aber, the subject
is there. Abedo. Abedo, en este caso, Abedo.
Ubo, Abra.
In its being a change, what, what, what, what is, what is it?
It's like, what has it been? It has been a change. What has,
been a change. I mean, that wouldn't really make much.
Yeah. Yeah.
It, it's been a change. I mean, it's been good. Has sido bueno,
ha sido interesante, ha sido grande, más grande que normal,
ha sido, ha sido, pues ¿qué ha sido? It's been a change.
I mean, it's, ha sido, ha sido un cambio. I mean, that's kind of,
I, I suppose there could be a case where you'd say that,
but it's a little different, right? Yeah, it's another purpose.
Mm-hm.
Abedo de Verdad, un cambio.
Has there really been a change?
Pero de Verdad. Has there really been a change?
Good question, David. Has there really been a change?
I don't know. Has there, has there really been a change?
Okay.
¿Se han instalado los cables?
¿Se han instalado los cables?
¿Have the wires los cables?
¿Have the wires been installed installed?
¿Have the wires been installed?
Now, cables, wires, cables.
We do have cables. I'd say cable is a little thicker, right?
A wire is más como un hilo. No, un hilo, un cable, pero más fino.
Okay.
No estoy cualificado para juzgar.
I'm not qualified to judge.
Juzgar. I'm not qualified to judge.
That's right. I'm not qualified to judge.
Mm-hm.
¿Tú juzgo?
¿Tú juzgo fue erroneo?
¿Juzgo? David, how do you say juzgo?
I would say judgment.
David would say judgment.
Your judgment was very good.
¿Erroneo?
Wrong.
Your judgment was wrong.
Very good.
We're going to do, we're going to keep going.
We don't buckle, but I just want to let people know that we are now live on Instagram.
That's right, everybody. We're live on Instagram.
The name there is I'm Kyle Miller.
You can join the fun over here on Instagram live from the Von Radio Studios in Madrid.
Come on in, everybody. Come on in. Join us.
Absolutely live.
And you can join the program here in our chat.
Take some questions from the chat here in a moment.
No necesito tus consejos.
I don't need your...
tus consejos.
Your advice, right?
Icoidado, advice es incontable.
Diego, how are you? Good to see you.
Asunción, Diego, we got Max, Sara, lots of people joining us here.
So consejos, your advice is incontable, right?
But if you want to make it countable,
you could change it to a different verb or a different word, I should say.
A different noun.
What could you say, David, to make it countable?
Yeah.
You cannot a piece of advice.
Exactly, a piece of advice.
Un consejo, a piece of advice, or a tip.
A tip?
Yeah.
Un consejo?
Hey.
Un consejo es incontable.
Well, a tip, yeah.
Un consejo, I would say.
Un consejo, maybe like a suggestion.
A tip, it's similar.
Our friend, Yolanda, canales, long time supporter.
One of the great Von Radio supporters is with us today.
Thank you, Yolanda.
Nice to see you here.
Hasestado en el médico.
Oh, yeah.
Hasestado en el médico.
Have you been two?
In English, we'd say two.
We wouldn't say in the doctor, right?
Don't stop.
Hasestado en el médico.
¿Cómo ha llegado ahí?
How do you get in there?
No, no.
Has been two, the doctor.
How?
So, have you been two, the doctor?
Been two, been two.
Have you been to Rome?
Have you been to China?
Have you been to...
Of course, English?
Have you been to the doctor?
Been two, been two, been two.
And it's almost like...
It's almost like one word linked together, right?
So if you...
If you...
If you link it together, you get been two.
And very often...
Maybe more often in American English.
Binta.
Binta.
Have you been to the doctor?
Have you been to...
Binta.
Binta.
The Binta.
Okay.
Los médicos no saben nada.
Doctors don't know anything.
Los médicos no saben nada.
We have people writing on Instagram.
We got...
J.D.
Baltian.
Baltlayan.
Mispronouncement.
Baltlian.
How many countries have you?
How many countries have you?
Have you...
How many countries have you?
How many countries have you?
How many countries have you?
I think I know what you mean to say.
But how many countries have you been to, right?
How many countries have you been to?
I've been to...
I've been to a lot of countries.
I've been to a lot of countries.
Because I used to travel every summer.
Before I started to go regularly returning to Canada every summer.
For the last ten years I've gone back to Canada every single summer.
But before that I used to go on long trips to different places.
I went on three big trips.
I went on one trip to Eastern Europe.
And I went to Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Romania, Bulgaria.
I went up to...
I went to Ukraine.
I was in Ukraine.
I went up to the Baltics, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania.
I crossed over to Finland.
Yeah.
So I did one big trip there.
I went...
I did another big trip to Asia, Southeast Asia.
So I went to Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Southern China.
Yeah, traveling around there.
And then I did another trip to South America.
Where I visited Argentina, Bolivia.
I went to Uruguay.
I went up to Peru.
Chile.
And that was a good...
So in total I have been to about 40 or 41 countries.
A lot of countries.
A lot of countries.
But I did this all many years ago.
That's to answer the question.
Here I'm answering your questions.
But we have...
We've got three more sentences, David.
Three phrases more.
He said, yeah, that's to three more sentences.
Okay?
We're making the final.
We're making the final.
We are...
David, how do you say this one?
We're making the final.
Yeah, I was going to say reaching the end.
But...
Alcantando...
Alcantando, the final.
Hmm.
Alcercarse.
You get close.
You get close.
We're getting close to the end.
Yeah, we also have a verb.
We're approaching.
Yeah, approaching.
We're approaching the end.
Yeah.
To approach.
We're approaching the end.
Al final.
We're approaching the end.
We're approaching the end.
We have people writing in.
Greetings from Colombia.
We got Alejo.
San Hi from Colombia.
Your passport must be interesting.
It is.
Although I'm actually getting a new...
How are you doing?
Yeah.
About the doctors.
They have no idea.
Well, hopefully they're...
Hopefully they have an idea.
How did you choose...
Ah, this is a good one.
How did you choose your radio program's name?
Oh, this is good.
Okay.
We got a comment on some of these.
Your passport must be interesting.
I agree with David.
Okay.
We're approaching the end.
You got it.
Yolanda says, how about we're nearing the end?
Yeah, we're nearing the end.
Sure.
We're approaching the end.
We're nearing the end.
Absolutely, Yolanda.
How did you choose your radio program's name?
Well, because drive time is a very common type of radio show.
It's a typical of the radio program.
Drive time in the world of radio and media.
Significa la hora punta.
So it's a very common.
I mean, Richard, you could say that Richard's show is also a drive time show.
I would say there are two drive times shown.
There's Richard's show, Richard Von Live.
It is a drive time show.
La hora punta de la mañana.
And then you also have...
So sometimes you say rush hour.
La hora punta.
Rush hour.
Or drive time.
And in the world of radio, drive time is a fixed...
It's a...
It's a dicho...
Fijo.
In the world of radio.
La hora punta.
Perdona.
En la que hay muchos oyentes en sus coches.
And when we started a long time ago,
it was more...
I think more focused on the dial.
More focused on...
on...
Yeah, on being in your car.
Sinto ni sandón tu coche.
So, drive time rate is very important.
Now we have a lot of people who listen online.
Que escuchan online.
También.
Que no son necesariamente en sus coches.
But...
So that's where it came from.
The world of drive time radio.
We got nachos.
Hey buddy, how are you?
Good to see you.
Nacho, welcome.
And we have Carmen.
Hey, Carmen.
Nice to see you.
Check it in from Peru.
We got people from all over the world, David.
In fact, we even have the closest...
The furthest away right now is either Carmen, in Peru,
or possibly the other gentleman who is listening from...
from Colombia.
We have Colombian Peru.
And the closest listener is David,
because he's right here.
David is there.
Can you wave to the...
in the way there?
Yes, there's David right there.
And he's connected.
So, make sure you follow David.
Toledo Ingram.
Yes.
On Instagram, folks.
He's live with us.
Yes, yes, yes.
In live in more ways than one.
And he's telling me that we have a minute.
We have a minute.
Not a masqueo.
Before, we have to go,
but we have time for one more sentence.
我們要 levantarlo.
No, podras.
You won't be able to...
No, podras.
To be able to, pero futuro.
You won't be able to...

All right, folks, one of my favorite albums of all time and one of the best selling albums
of all time, by the great ACDC as we go back to 1980 in the album Back in Black.
And this was one of their biggest hits, of course. Although the song on the charts actually
only went to number 35 in America. No more. I mean, a lot of people thought it was a number
one hit, but this went to number 35 in America. Number 38 in the UK, in the UK. But a huge
hit for ACDC would just become a very iconic song. And it was the first ACDC single featuring
their new singer, Brian Johnson, the great Brian Johnson, the one and only. And he replaced
Bon Scott, who died in February of 1980 after a drinking binge. And Scott's father said,
you know, the band needed to find a new singer and keep going. The band, of course, felt
the same way. And Brian Johnson was apparently a guy who, Bon Scott had met before he died
and had approved of him as a, as a possible replacement or appreciated his voice at least.
But this was such a huge hit from that time. And an album that was so important because
not only did it kind of mark a new, a new era for ACDC, but it proved that they could, they
could change. They could adapt and they could survive without their lead singer. And Brian Johnson
went on to produce really a lot of the big radio hits that people know come from the Brian
Johnson era, which continues up to this day. In fact, ACDC's back on tour now or starting up
touring again. And they'll be in Madrid. In fact, they'll be in Spain this summer. But one of
the great songs, you shook me all night long, such a classic. And you get the great guitar.
So let's hear the guitar solo, shall we? Oh, maybe, oh, sorry. This is the end of it. We
reached the end. Didn't we, Debbie? We already heard the guitar solo. That's all right. That's
all right. No pasana. But it has the classic ACDC format, right? You have like verse chorus,
verse chorus solo chorus and usually or something like that. It's very classic. There you go. There's
Angus, young. Yeah, now they're an Australian band. They formed an Australia, although Brian
Johnson, the current lead singer is from Manchester. He's, he's sorry, Newcastle, pardon me, Newcastle,
which is Dave Boy's territory. So in the same place as Dave, Newcastle, and they're called
jordies, people from Newcastle are called jordies. In fact, he played in a band called
Jordie before being discovered by before joining ACDC, let's say, anyway, a little bit of ACDC
history for you and what a band. One of the one of the greatest. Anyway, let's let's move on,
everybody. Why don't we get into today's expression of the day? Expression of the day. I
guess the expression of the day today, the expression to be in cahoots with someone to be in
cahoots with someone. And this means to be in cahoots with someone means to be in collaboration,
right? To collaborate, to be work in close partnership, often conspiring to do something,
maybe something dishonest or something illegal could be. Not necessarily, but it could be.
But there was a rumor that the mayor was in cahoots with a chain of supermarkets, for example.
So it means to be secretly collaborating or maybe conspiring with someone, often for a
deceptive or maybe illegal purpose. It's used to imply that two or more people are working
closely together, typically in a way that understands that is sort of underhanded or suspicious.
Now, the exact origin of this word cahoots, k-c-a-h-o-o-t-s, cahoots. The exact origin of this word cahoots
is a little bit uncertain. Some people think it likely comes from the word cahoote, cahoote,
French word, meaning a cabin or a hut, which implies close quarters, close partnership, working
together physically closely with someone. But let's look at some examples. I go back to the 19th
century, in fact. The mayor was accused of being in cahoots with local businessmen to approve
shady deals. Deals, negocios, tratos, a bit questionable.
The two employees were clearly in cahoots with each other to imbezzle funds from the company.
To imbezzle is like to steal. It's essentially a form of like a white collar crime where you're
stealing money from a company that you're working in, imbezzling, taking money from the company
for personal, you know, your personal use or for personal, you know, for yourself. You're
getting the money. Okay. She suspects her siblings are in cahoots with her husband to plan a
surprise party. Okay, to be in cahoots with someone. All right. Anyway, there you go. So that's
our expression of the day. And remember, guys, we had our Twitter translation earlier on. I said,
come and see if they're in English. No me gusta no refrescos. Ni siquiera Coca-Cola. Now David,
would you say ni siquiera la Coca-Cola or ni siquiera Coca-Cola? No la la la la la Coca-Cola.
Ya ya ya. La Coca-Cola. I like it. Okay. Y la Pepsi, no?
Ya. Ya. Are you sure? Oh, no.
Ya, la Pepsi, la falta. Si, si, si, we would say that.
For sure. Okay. Okay. No, es que si no, si le quitas la, le falta, le falta, falta algo.
Ya, ya. El vino no me gusta café. No, no me gusta, no me gusta el café. El café. El café.
Eso es el café ni la Coca-Cola. That's it. No me gusta los refrescos ni siquiera la Coca-Cola.
Hmm. Interesting. Okay. So, we'll let people respond to that one. But meanwhile, let's have a look
at today's what's the difference? Like, make, do, go, come, take, bring. What's the difference?
Ah, yes, what's the difference today? Let's and shall. Now people might say, but these are really
different. And they are, but I kind of like to talk about what makes these similar, you know,
they're similar. Why are they similar? And what can and what and what ways are they different?
So both are used to talk about the future to make suggestions for the future in the first person.
But shall is used in first person singular or plural plural shall I open the window?
Abro la ventana. Shall we go to the park? Shall we change the subject?
No, it can't be most de tema. Shall we change the subject? And then let's, so these are used in
the interrogative. But let's is first person plural and it is used to again make a suggestion,
but in the affirmative. Let's go. Vamos. Vamos al parque. Let's go to the park. Let's try a new
version. Let's go on Instagram. Let's do it. Let's do something else. So let's, so we're making a
suggestion. And it literally comes from a contraction of let us, que es como dejanos,
a faire esto, a hacer algo, let us, let's. Okay, so they are similar, but there are important
differences. Okay. You know, I love adjectives. I try to do one or two of them every day, but we don't
always get to it, but let's have a look at today's awesome adjective. Awesome adjectives.
Here's a good one for you. Obnoxious. Do you know that one, David? No, obnoxious. Oh, my
that guy is a subnoxious, insoportable, detestable, odioso, obnoxious. But I find there's also an
element of presumido, también. He's insoportable, detestable, porque presume mucho y está siempre
hablando de semismo. Ya, we would say insoprible, insoprible, insoprible, insoprible, insoprible,
insufferable. We do that in suffer, like it's so bad, I can't even support suffering,
the suffering that you created. So it's that forte, right? Yeah. Okay, obnoxious.
Los hijos de Jim son importantes, insoportables. Jim's kids are obnoxious.
No suporta los clientes odiosos. I can't stand obnoxious. Customers. Yeah. I can't
I can't stand obnoxious. Customers.
Ella tiene un carácter realmente insoportable.
Yeah. Ella tiene un carácter realmente insoportable. She has a really obnoxious, obnoxious
character, obnoxious character. Now, I'm going to do two because I feel generous today.
Muy heroso. A ver, no pero es así.
Here's here's a good one.
Trendy. De moda. A la última, moderno. Trendy.
Right? Some things are trendy. Trendy styles.
Now, trend is like tendencia. La tendencia es la trends.
I got to follow. I have to start following the fashion trends, David.
Should I start following the fashion trends better?
Well, more you can do whatever you want. But I'm not a really worried person about trends.
No, no. So like, oh my gosh, purple is so fashionable right now. I need to start wearing
purple every day. You don't do that. You don't think like that. No, no, I don't. Me neither.
Classic. Believe it or not. Yeah. Yeah. David and I are classics. Really. Both of us.
That's right. We're not worried about the trends. La tendencia es no.
Okay. But trendy. De moda. A la última, moderno. Trendy. Oh, those are trendy shoes.
Those are very trendy shoes. Tu tapatillas de portillas son muy modernas.
Oh, your, your trainers are really trendy. Yes. Me gusta el vestido a la última. Eso sí. Hombre.
No, no.
I like to wear trendy clothes. Tiende a monto.
Sorry, sorry. Perdona. Tiene un moto realmente moderno.
He has a really trendy motorbike. Trendy.
Okay. So trendy. That's a good one. I welcome people to give examples too. If you
want to write in on Instagram or on Twitter, you can say trendy. You can, you know, let me know
what you think about that. Give some examples. Trendy. T-R-E-N-D-Y. T-R-E-N-D-Y. Trendy. Trendy.
All right. David, you know, sometimes we do business. You know, I like business a lot. You know
that, right, David? In fact, I even wrote a book on it called Business English. Yes. And you can
find it. I say, wherever fine books are sold, you can find it. And I want to take a look at some of,
a bit of content from that book now as we get down to business.
Bye. Bye. Bye.
Bye.
Bye.
Come to my office.
What's a bargain?
The meeting is starting in five minutes.
Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye.
Let's get down to business.
There you go. Possibly the best baseline of any jingle, right, David? Wouldn't you say?
Yeah, it's very elaborate.
Elabareta. Yeah. Yeah, it's a good it's a good jingle. Yeah, it's a nice jingle, but yeah,
so today I want to go into my book. It's called Business English. And we have sections in the book
about getting a job. So writing a, you know, cover letter and all that stuff, cover letter CV,
job interviews. Then we have English on the job, you know, doing business in English. So
negociaciones, e-mailing, presentaciones,
ingles en el teléfono,
los números y los métodos,
etcétera, etcétera.
Y luego hay cosas que se llama
grandes en las bizneses,
los que estoy hablando de
los económicos, los acciones, los marketing,
los finanzas, los investigadores,
todo esto.
Pero sí, tenemos
una translación.
Así que quiero transformar
los centros de la world
de negociaciones.
Así que si quieres hacer
grandes partidos,
si quieres hacer las mejores partidos,
entonces puedes estudiar
If you have respect for the other party.
Es una regla fundamental.
It's a fundamental rule.
It's a fundamental rule.
Esto facilita enormamente
el llegar a un acuerdo.
Esto facilita mucho
para llegar a un acuerdo.
Para reaching.
Sí, para reaching.
¿El agreement?
¿El agreement?
Sí.
O para hacer una regla.
Si puedes decir.
Sí, hacer una regla.
Reaching agreement.
La otra parte no es el enemigo.
La otra parte no es el enemigo.
Es importante para lembrar todos estos días.
La otra parte no es el enemigo.
Es solo el adversario.
Sí, adversario.
Sí.
Es no el enemigo.
Es no el enemigo.
Es correcto.
Hay todos los humanos.
Hay que ser.
Hay que ser más likable.
¿Por qué es similar?
Es similar.
Que podemos pensar.
Hay que ser más similar
que nosotros es diferente.
¿Vas de decir eso?
Sí.
Sí.
Es correcto.
Es correcto.
Es importante lembrar en estos
turbulentas psychores.
¿Vas de una forma deją?
OK.
¿Vas de una venteles?
¿Por qué no tienen que ver?
¿O no tienen que ver?
Hay que ver.
¿Por qué no ha deja?
¿Por qué no tienen que ver?
¿Por qué no ha deja?
¿Por qué no ha deja?
¿Por qué no tienen que ver?
¿Por qué no tienen que ver?
Dig finances. No. Castico. Les listo por musun.
Trying.
Quite on the contrary.
Contrary.
You have to see him as area, you have to see them as a collaborator.
Not always, but sometimes, okay.
Es con él con quien trabaja.
Es trechamente.
He's the one you'll be working closely with.
Es trechamente.
We say to work closely.
Yeah.
Superemos las diferencias existentes.
Let's get over the existing differences.
That's a good idea.
Es posible llegar a un acuerdo aceptable.
Es posible to come to an acceptable agreement.
Ya he dado un acuerdo.
We say to come to an agreement.
Es posible to come to an agreement.
Es posible to come to an acceptable agreement.
I think so.
Okay.
¿Quién sonos implicados?
¿Quién sonos implicados?
Busco un acuerdo que satisfaga las necesidades de todos.
I'm looking for an agreement that...
¿Cómo se dice, David, que satisfaga?
Ah, ya, la satisfaga las necesidades de todos.
Well, that satisfies everyone's needs.
Everyone's needs.
Necesidades.
Yes, I'm looking for an agreement that satisfies...
Everyone's needs.
Las necesidades de todos.
Es true.
Okay, there you go.
Anyway, we have...
This is sort of an introduction talking about negotiation.
But we have set many lists of these phrases
that you can actually use in a negotiation.
They get a much more advanced, of course,
and much more specific.
But I do recommend this.
If you need English at work,
I recommend the book.
It's called Business English.
Check it out.
It's available now.
And I think you'd find it helpful.
If you need English at work, this is the book for you.
Now, another thing that we have,
another book that I like to use most days,
I don't do it every day,
but I like to do this is our paragraphs.
So why don't we have a quick look at today's paragraph of the day?
Paragraph of the day.
All right, it's the paragraph of the day.
It is that time.
I'm going to read a paragraph.
We're going to talk about it.
And we're going to learn a little bit of English through it.
Okay?
Okay, so the way these work,
yeah, they're kind of completely random,
but you can pick up some interesting English through these.
Okay?
No, it's not that it's going to be.
I'm going to do it in English first, right, David?
I'm going to do it in English.
Hold on here.
Don't get mad at me.
Hey, don't get mad at me.
I started calling him when I got here this morning
and his line has been busy all day.
What else can I do?
Send him a telegram?
Either his phone is broken,
or he doesn't want anyone calling him.
We have either or or or.
Hmm.
Don't get mad at me.
Don't get mad at me.
I started calling him when I got here this morning
and his line has been busy.
Selina, his line has been busy.
We say, a cupada.
We say busy.
His line has been busy all day.
Right?
So it has been busy up to now inclusive.
That's the present perfect.
Selina,
but in English,
we can't say his line is busy all day.
No, because we're talking about today.
It has been busy all day.
What else can I do?
Send him a telegram?
What else can I do?
Send him a telegram?
Right?
Or if your phone is broken,
or he doesn't want anyone calling him.
Either his phone is broken,
or he doesn't want anybody calling him.
These are the options.
Right?
So this person is saying,
look, don't get mad at me.
It's not my fault.
I've been trying to reach this key person
as decision maker for quite some time.
I've been unsuccessful because the guy is not answering the phone.
I'm going to read it one more time quickly.
Don't get mad at me.
I started calling him when I got here this morning
and the line has been busy all day.
What else can I do?
Send him a telegram?
Either his phone is broken,
or he doesn't want anybody calling him.
Yeah, that's our paragraph of the day.
I'm going to take a break, everybody.
