Drunk Driver Survives Crash, Passenger Dies

A 37-year-old man from Bridgeport, named Jawora Davidson, got arrested for driving under

the influence after a fatal crash on Interstate.

95 South and Stanford last Sunday, state police hit him with charges for DUI and not staying

in his lane.

His blood alcohol level tested more than twice Connecticut's legal limit of 0.08.

The wreck happened around 12.45 am near exit 7.

Davidson was behind the wheel of an older Honda Prelude when he lost control, veered off

the shoulder, crossed all lanes, and slammed into the median, barrier.

That spun him back onto the highway, facing the wrong way in the center lane.

Then a van driver coming south plowed right into him head on.

Davidson walked away without injuries, but his passenger got rushed to Stanford hospital

and didn't make it.

The van driver also ended up hurt and headed to the same spot for treatment.

Cops pegged Davidson as the at-fault driver, after spotting slurred speech, bloodshot eyes,

and a heavy booze smell on his breath.

He flunked field sobriety tests on the spot.

Police are still digging into the details and plan to add more charges soon.

Davidson's locked up on a $250,000 bond, with a raiment set for Monday in Stanford Superior

Court.
