E J Smith's Pro Day Impresses Cowboys, Aggies Rebuild Backfield

On March 26, Texas A&M's running back group had a strong 2025 season,

going 11 wins and one loss overall with 7 wins and one loss in SEC play.

Seniors LeVion Moss and EJ Smith both hit the pro day this week,

catching eyes from NFL scouts and coaches.

Smith especially stood out and earned a special invite to the Dallas Cowboys workout later this month.

The Aggies leaned on freshman Jamerian Marrow and Rubin Owens after Moss went down late in the year.

Smith stepped up as a key deaf piece, scoring touchdowns against Missouri, South Carolina, and Texas.

Their efforts helped push the team deep into the playoffs, though the run game hit a wall in the first

round lost to Miami. Fans outside Aggieland might not know, but EJ Smith is the son of Hall of Famer,

Emmett Smith, the longtime Cowboys great. He transferred to Texas A&M from Stanford

before the 2024 season and fought through early injuries to stay healthy this year.

At pro day, Smith's athletic tests turned heads with a 10-foot broadjump,

35.5-inch vertical, and 20 reps on the 200, 25-pound bench.

Dallas Cowboys' offensive coordinator, Brian Schadenheimer, was there and made the workout

invite on the spot. With Moss and Smith moving on, the Aggies look ahead to rebuilding their

backfield, while Smith eyes his next step toward the pros.
