The Philadelphia Eagles just made a smart move to bolster their quarterback room by trading

for veteran Andy Dalton from the Carolina Panthers.

In exchange, they're sending a seventh-round pick to Carolina.

This deal shows up death behind Starter Jalen Hertz, as confirmed by NFL insider Jonathan

Jones.

Dalton, a 38-year-old with plenty of experience, spent the last three seasons in Carolina.

He mostly backed up Bryce Young, but stepped in as Starter for a five-game stretch in 2024.

His career kicked off with nine seasons in Cincinnati, followed by Stins with Dallas

in 2020, Chicago in 2021, and New Orleans in 2022.

This season, Dalton made one star for the Panthers, going 16 of 24 for 175 yards with no touch

downs, one, interception, and seven sacks in a 40-to-9 loss to Buffalo in Week 8.

Meanwhile, the Eagles still have Tanner McKee as backup, but they're adjusting to new

offensive coordinator Sean Manion, a 33-year-old.

Manion plans to bring more traditional passing ideas to Philly, and Dalton's versatility

across schemes makes him a perfect bridge.

On the Panther side, they signed Kenny Pickett as their backup this off-season, so Dalton

became expendable.

The trade give the Eagles reliable insurance as they gear up, while Carolina clears space,

expect Dalton to provide steady leadership during this transition.
