Easter Duck Race Raises Funds for Kids

On April 3rd, hundreds of yellow rubber ducks hit the water as

Southford quays for the 11th annual Easter Duck Race on Good Friday, April 3rd.

This free charity bash at the Southford Water Sports Center drew families from

a cross-grader Manchester for some classic holiday fun.

The event packed in fairground rides, food stalls, live music, and a

tombola, but the star was the duck race itself.

Folks sponsored ducks for two pounds.

Fifty a pop, snagging a number for a shot at prizes like go-carding sessions or vouchers.

Rainy, changeable weather tried to crash the party, but hearty locals turned out

in force anyway.

Crowds lined up to cheer on the little racers bobbing downstream,

turning it into a proper community vibe.

All the cash raised heads straight to Medicare for Kids,

hooking up babies and children with vital medical gear right here in greater

Manchester, and further out, over the years they've

spiced it up with dressed up ducks channeling minions or monsters.

This tradition keeps floating strong, blending laughs,

charity, and that unbeatable Manchester spirit year after year.
