This is in our headphones and I'm Evie Stokes back today with Albena Cabrera who you may know is one of the hosts of El Senito here on KexP and I'm so excited to have you back. I love having you here So you are sharing a song today from the band based in Mexico City called Austin TV Do you want to introduce the track for us? Yes, please This is part of a their new album called Ma la ilusión del tacto by Austin TV

We are briefs like a gesture The story of you, like the one you are expecting when the actor is in your brain I'm not afraid, but I want to draw your part You find the steps in the form of thousands I want to be inside, inside and inside and first And now I want to be the light in the night that is closing You

You You

You You New music from Austin TV Albena tell me about Austin TV I know that you've hosted them remotely in the studio hosted a performance for KexP tell me about them Dayday the live on KexP session a few weeks ago Maybe if you are listening to this episode now that session is going to be out but the first time Austin TV performing for KexP was in Mexico City

At the end of 2023 was our first edition of live on KexP from Mexico City and they play there For the first time together after 12 years of the pause for the project that was insane for all of us Who are fans of Austin TV since the early 2000s It was this movement of instrumental boss rock from Latino America For the first time we will say that those bands were popular, were like headliners of festivals Austin TV was one of them So from this like newer generation of Latino American alternative music I really want to jump to this band with almost 25 years of history Austin TV It's all Mexicans that I love They had this like 12, 10 years of Beatos but they are back and they are back with a new album

The illusion of the fact was one of the singles trying to introduce this new era And I really want to take a moment to talk about Ma which is the name of their new album Because the record was written during a period of grief after two members of the bands lost their mothers So the title connects with this Latin American or Mexican use of Ma as a way to say in Ma Ma But also Ma in Japanese is this idea that space, this pause between things where life is still full of possibilities So they tried to play with this war Ma as the title for this album And it was a beautiful conversation with Austin TV when they were explaining like how to express grief through instrumental songs

And I think that they did it very well It's one of the album of 2026 to me And I'm sure that you are going to feel very similar Evie and I'm sure that Dusty and the Tear in our headphones team are going to feel very similar Is it their big friends for KXB? I'm just very, very excited about Ma And this one is one of my favorite It's beautiful and now that you say and now that you explain to me that the story behind the album makes them even more beautiful to hear I just love this song Tell me about seeing them live or watching them perform What are they like? Isko, a sonic trip to different universe I don't know, I think that to me instrumental music is specifically like boss rock or space rock It's like one way ticket to the VLAC there, you know

I'm in the space But I think that is very introspective feeling to me I think that live they are very, very loud But at the same time you feel that you are alone, you know In a big room And it's beautiful Again, this is very personal Maybe for you is a completely different experience But I really think that Austin TV live is going to be one of your best experience It would live music And I'm especially a fan of instrumental projects because you know no language makes you connect with others in so many ways And so yeah one of my favorite bands I don't know if you can see this Yes That's good, I love when people get to talk about their favorite music So you mentioned to you that they've been a band for 25 years

Have you been a fan that whole time? Yes, but when they were touring around Latin America I was like very young so I couldn't go to the capital city of my country to see them For big festivals So actually I was a fan but the first time that I had the possibility to see them was during their first live on KXB session That's so special though That's so, I mean was that a dream come true for little you? It was, it was And it was so special that I asked share waters to host that session Because they were like so good for me and so important also for specifically Mexico because it's one of the gems of their music And it was the first time that they were playing together after many many years since the members of the bands work remotely because they live in different continents

So that adds also another layer of complexity I think but I don't know We heard so many bands that now live in different countries and are still producing and releasing music So yeah, please watch the live I mean I would give you some guidance here I think that you have to watch the live on KXB session recorded in Mexico in 2023 Right? So you can see part of your hits And then yes, maybe the interior abumama The new live on KXB session that is going to be out that I don't know when So that is it This has been Alvina Cabrera on in our headphones Thank you so much for being here with us today You
