She was born in Sydney, Australia, and lives in Los Angeles with her husband and rescue kitten, Noodle. Her book, Making Friends with Monsters, tells the story of 12-year-old Sam as he learns to deal with many mental health and family challenges, such as suicide, addiction, abuse, self-harm, financial hardship, and more. I loved this book so much that I have recommended it to Mom's groups as a Book Club read to help them learn new language to use with their children around emotions and mental health, therapists, treatment centers, and I even took a stab at submitting it to Oprah to see if there was a shot of getting it into her book club – it is that impactful.
