過去台灣的舊衣回收後，有七成賣到非洲或東南亞，但現在各國經濟崛起，二手衣需求逐漸減少。此外，去年又因疫情缺櫃的影響，廢棄衣物無法送到印度打製成地毯，回收商千坪廠房裡也已無處安放。好消息是，種種出口困境的夾縫中，反而看到台灣綠能產業的一線生機。業者將舊衣打碎、壓縮，做成固體回收燃料取代煤碳，提供紡織廠或汽電共生等公司發電，讓廢衣成為更永續環保的能源。
