大物理學家霍金（Stephen Hawking）曾經警告：「如果外星人造訪我們的話，結果可能會和當年哥倫布登陸美洲類似，對當地居民來說不會是什麼好事。」
也就是說，讓地球文明被外星人發現，可不是什麼好主意。
1974年，阿雷西博天文台（Arecibo Observatory）瞄準了25000光年外的M13球狀星團發射了一段高功率的無線電訊號，包含了質因數分解、DNA、人類形象、太陽系等訊息。
之後不管是實體、還是無線電訊號，都又發送了好幾次。
就算現在把霍金的警告當真要藏起地球的氣息，也已經來不及了……
