Okay, so runky wick that was, there's got a little trick, she's here a little trick that runky
getting some of this pretty old one. So GRC boys playing against Scott Kennedy right now in the regional
tournament. GRC girls won their regional tournament, they are moving on to state, so congrats
there to coach and the players there going after that illustrious first state title.
Sacred Heart lost to assumption, so Sacred Heart's out of the way now, so now they've just got
to worry about assumption. Metafee girls won the first round in regionals, lost to Ashland in the
semis, two years of row now for region and two district titles in a row now there is one. So
moco boys will be playing later tonight, they're going against Campbell County, Rick Sorrow from
Pasadena Texas tuning in, and then moco girls fell to Campbell County in the first round in
region, so thanks everybody for tuning in, this is episode 383, community trust, bank coaches,
corners, 383s a lot, that's insane. It is, yeah, I mean it's kind of nuts now, we're coming up,
it'll be five years in July that we've been doing this thing, it's kind of nice.
You have to go back and see which one of those first ones.
Yeah, it would have been, it would have been fall of 24, yeah that's when we dipped our toes in
that Metafee water, so, so tonight with us, we got Metafee softball, obviously we have coach
call Alfred Slash, athletic director, and then down there we've got Grace Rogers and Aubrey Golden
and over here, brand new to the show, Ella Smallwood and Shandex Lewis, so three of the four I've
even been on here several times, Aubrey's probably been on here like 20 this morning because she's
plays all the different sports, so, but anyways, thank you all for coming to spend some time with
us on Monday night and we'll talk a little bit of softball action, how about that season has started
yet, we're getting there, right? Right, so it's Monday. Okay, have we had any scrimmages or anything yet?
No, we've been kind of handicapped with that when it comes to it because we had, we're very fortunate,
our girls were playing in the region, then of course we got some big school trips coming up,
so we weren't able to schedule any at the end of the week, so. Okay, and then I ask you off air,
but we'll talk about it, fields are still being worked on? Yeah, I've been very blessed with it,
of course, snowmageddon hurt, put that behind, I mean, about a month, I suppose we've done February
15th, looking towards the end of next week, but be completed, the baseball team actually just finished
their first practice on the field tonight, and softball got the turf laid down on it today. Okay,
so just doing the gluing and the sand and the, I call them turf turns, I don't know what the official name is,
but. What do they call? Palinky. Yeah, no, turf turns sounds good, but. So is baseball on turf as well?
The infields turf and the outfit are being bremuted, same way softball. Okay, is that different?
Then normal, is it not always? Yeah, it's a little bit different. You know, we, of course,
our region, the only field that has turf is riceland, so it is, it will be a little bit different,
but it helps us out tremendously, nobody's really used to it when they get here.
Oh man, at least your soccer players have some, some turf time underneath their toes,
so that will be a little bit easier now. Catching bouncing softball off of said turf,
is riceland literally the only place you've done that or is there been any other place to choose?
For hospital, yeah, it's just riceland. I mean, I personally like turf just because you don't get
any bad hops, but I play a lot. Tart is predictable, and that's the easiest thing.
With like the balls going to do it, you're not going to get that lip hop right up over you, the
rucks. So, what about slide none? Have you slid on the turf? Yeah, I've slid just slide early.
Slide early? Yeah, a lot earlier than dirt, you'll go pretty far, especially if it's rain and wet.
So you just out there, you know, just, you know, enjoying the slip of the slide.
Yeah, that's basically what it is. So you're going earlier to give yourself more momentum to stop?
You just slide so much farther, you have to get earlier, you're going to be sliding over the base.
You don't want to do that because then they'll be tagging you, right? Yeah, that's interesting.
I never thought about that part of it. I mean, you don't see, you don't see the turf a lot, you know,
so, but it's, I guess it's probably any time you're going to see, you know, reduced on fields,
or stuff like that. That's probably the way they're going to go with it. It's just a piece of
easy stuff. It's becoming in the new norm. And it's honestly not much more expensive than you
think it would be to do. I mean, if you do a brand new infilled with dirt, I mean, it's going to be
high quality. So by the time you do it, that's what it's done, Terri. Not to mention the fact all
the maintenance has to be done on set, grass, you know, modeling and trimming and doing all that stuff.
And then with the turf, you don't have to, like constantly put the paint out too for the
poor, poor Brian Rogers. You're not sure what he's going to do this year.
Oh, is that what do you know?
Yeah, that's his job.
Left to get him to find himself in the day.
I don't know, some scissors to get the output of the grass.
Well, that's fine. That's funny.
So, you know, Coach, I'll sing you're setting up here. We had one other singer that's not
feeling well at the same time. So I hope she gets to feel better. But let's talk about the season,
you know, this is, you know, you've got a pretty experienced team, you know, you've had him for a
while. So what's the outlook on the season?
I think it's going to be fun here. I'm looking forward to the schedules. What we need to be playing,
I'm excited to really see what they're capable of and, you know, take that next step.
And I think we saw what we were capable of next year. I think we were so timid we didn't really
know when to hit that next year. And I think we're going to hit the next year this year.
And it helps when you have experience, right?
Yeah, absolutely.
So I mean, did I see six seniors on the roster?
Yeah, six seniors, you guys.
Macy Wells isn't here and then Jason Jevon's going to play for us this year.
Okay. Okay. Yeah. So I don't know how long has it been since she played softball?
Eighth grade.
That's great.
We feared we'd do the deal again, I'm saying you years ago.
It was the same reason we both like basketball and softball.
I think they both just went eighth grade nights and senior nights.
Wait, something a lot hot, right?
So, so what position does she play?
She's in the play second.
Okay. Now, she had any field time whatsoever you?
Well, today was her first day.
And she did better than you think.
Yeah, it's not hard for her to pick up on anything like that.
Just like, just like Grace going basketball to run a bike.
I mean, athletes are athletes, right?
So, um, um, she's home.
I'll try to talk to her.
Who do you own in the season?
I would play Morgan County on Monday.
At home or at the morning?
Well, the field would probably be down the 20th.
So, we're looking maybe the 24th or the 26th is our, um,
open home game.
So, we'll go away next week.
We'll go to Morgan on Monday.
Was that intentional?
Uh, well, it was originally planned to be a home game.
That was going to be our same on the night, but it's been pushed back to.
And that's going to be when the 20th or your thing.
Yeah, I don't want to say anything until they get it done.
We'll keep this posted.
Maybe there and then we'll come.
I will be in Florida.
I don't want to trip.
Oh, we'll go with you this week.
Right?
Well, I mean, my wife is, she's done nothing but
complaining ever since I won the trip.
And I'm like, hey, it's a free trip to Florida.
To brave, strange, strange training.
Oh, she is so pumped.
Some, yeah.
Yeah, so I'm pretty excited about that.
I've never won anything like that.
And then to win a trip to brave,
strange training.
So I'm pretty pumped about that part of it.
So, but it'd be cool if we can get out there too,
to do that if possible.
Maybe it'll get pushed off one more week and I'll be back.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Open the door.
No, we don't want that for sure.
So, um, so, Alan, your first time on the show.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Do you play other sports?
Are you only a softball?
I played volleyball from freshman year to this season.
And softball is my only other sport.
But I serve as our FFA president and the region secretary
for the Lincoln River region.
I'm also involved in FBLA.
And I've went to nationals for them.
Betty Club, devotions and motions.
I'm a 4-H member.
I've been for 10 years, so.
When do you find talent to sleep?
Hardly ever.
I thought your name sounded familiar.
It was from volleyball.
So, yeah.
I was surprised that more of you didn't play volleyball
on that part of it, so, um,
so, what do you think about this season?
I'm looking forward to it.
I've played since my seventh grade year.
Grace actually taught me into playing
when we were sitting in sixth grade sonnets class.
So, I'm looking forward to it
and just excited for our senior season.
I don't like Grace.
It's a good experience.
She is.
Yeah.
I think what you got big.
We need some fun hails on the field.
Shannicks, you're singing to yours.
Yeah.
To pump.
Yeah.
Soccer is already out of the way.
So, this is the end, right?
Yeah.
This is it.
So, what are you thinking about this upcoming season?
I'm excited.
We have a lot of new people, but,
I mean, we're looking better than we did last year
with, like, experience, because
the first year people last year,
the ones that came back,
know a little bit more,
and more people are able to help the new people.
So, I think we're looking a lot better than we did.
Awesome.
Awesome, that's, I mean,
and that's, that's all you can do.
We continue to grow each and every go around
on that part of it.
So, about you, Aubrey,
what are you thinking about the senior year?
I'm excited.
It's sad that it's going to be, like, our last season,
but I didn't play for very long here, at least.
But, I'm excited.
I'm excited to play on the new field, too.
I haven't seen it.
I'm waiting for it to be completely done
before I look at it.
So, I'm excited.
They've all done that.
No one wants to see the field.
I don't know why.
I don't know what I'm saying.
Yeah, I'd be, I'd be the same boy,
that, you know, that first time you walk out there,
you're like, you know, we're playing on this night.
I've been up there.
So, Aubrey, are you going to do track this for me?
I am.
We started practice last...
Monday.
Kind of, but it was raining and everything.
I forgot to push back.
Yeah, I was going to do track this year with a different...
I guess, yeah.
But I'm talking to them.
Oh, for days.
It was like Tiger Woods when they introduced him.
It started with tournaments and they just read off.
But I'm looking forward to track this year.
I'm going to throw discus as well as shot put this year.
So, I'm looking forward to it.
Hopefully, I can, like, just take it.
I threw discus a little bit.
My, like, eighth grade year.
But I never really locked it that much.
But last year at Regionals, I threw it for the first time,
like, four years.
And I threw, like, a 70.
So, I thought, I might as well do it this year.
So, see you if I can get you more.
So, you're going to put your shoes on this year?
Actually, every day at practice.
So, for I've wore my tennis shoes.
So, yeah, I've been running the day everything.
Oh, but you didn't think I remember that, did you?
I remember, that was, that was pretty fine.
Yeah.
So, we're good.
I've been praised for having tennis shoes.
So, I'm excited.
Praise no, it's not shoes.
Are we, are we good there?
Or are we losing shoes?
That's just the TV.
Oh, okay.
Grace, what about you?
I know you just come off with a basketball.
Yeah, this is only my second practice of the season.
And, are you, are you going to have to play with that neighbor or something?
Yeah, at least for the product out.
Yeah.
I don't know why.
How are you all right?
I was I said down right.
I said down right after everything, yeah.
Shoot it up for a pain.
So, I keep you dollar store stocked on the way.
So, how do you feel about the senior season?
I'm excited.
I'm excited to play on what I feel.
And, it'll be one of the best complexes in the region.
So, that'll be good.
You won't have to work out yet.
You're taking off now.
Bad horse.
Yeah.
Hey, like Shadik said, I think we didn't have some more experience.
So, we should see some improvement this year,
especially with the schedule of line.
I'm excited.
So, where do we stand on the toe of Steele's counter right now?
Oh, I don't know.
I'm afraid.
Something that you're making happen.
Spoke the record.
I don't know how many she's had after that.
So, I don't know.
I don't have to get that.
I don't have to try to get a counter.
Like Ricky Henderson, nobody really knows them as yet.
But, there's no no way he's going to catch you.
Yeah, but there's a lot of baseball records.
Yeah, I'm going to get caught.
That is definitely one of them.
I want to say I'm around 150, but I can be your own.
I think it's an all right.
That's pretty cool.
That's a big number.
Yeah.
I might be one of those numbers that didn't get tested
in the African County.
Yeah.
I thought, and then, you know, yesterday's conversation,
we thought JC broke the record,
but she didn't break the record, which is a bummer.
Yeah.
So, there's somehow,
somewhere there was a miscalculation there.
So, we even put a post out and everything,
and then JC's mom visited us back with that number.
And I'm like, that's not the same number that we got.
And she goes, yeah, there was a miscalculation.
I was like, take the post out.
Well, the, the, the ride heard glitched two, three years ago.
There's two games that weren't posted.
And just, I don't know, we just just kind of get them.
Yeah.
I'm still proud of it.
It's awesome.
Yeah.
Yeah, absolutely.
So, I, you know, it's, you know, it's,
it's all was exciting to get her to go into the new season
and stuff like that, for sure on that part of it.
Anybody planning on playing softball with the next,
you are, are you going to Mal?
I'll say Joseph.
No, I'll say Joseph.
Where are you at?
It's like 20 minutes away from Cincinnati.
So, I'll take you far about 10 hours away.
Okay.
Close enough from wrong bed.
Can't see you play what they want to do.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Where are the same conference as Tracy too?
So, we'll be playing now.
So, is that, is that N-A-I or not?
D-3.
D-3, yeah.
Gotcha.
Okay.
So, you'll be playing some, some, some Tracy.
They'll be that, so they can see you down here.
Yeah.
That'll be cool.
So, what position you're going to be playing there?
Short.
Okay.
I'll pitch it back.
I'll pitch it back.
Now, is she your primary pitcher?
We have four that we've been working hard for with.
So, kind of, see who we want.
But, any given day, we'll go with any four that,
Grace is probably, she pitched to me in the fours last year.
Now, there's no pitch counts in softball, right?
Probably needs to be, but there's not.
I mean, I can't tell you.
We've seen some, we've seen some girls.
I mean, that one girl for, was a Lexington Catholic
a couple years ago, and then, like, literally pitched
every game for them.
Yeah.
And, just bitching for UK guys.
Right.
Right.
It's just like, it's amazing that,
that in softball, the arms don't wear out the way,
you know, baseball, that rotation part,
I don't know, it just doesn't have the same effect.
But, it's kind of crazy how that, how that works,
because, you know, most of the time,
I mean, you said four, right?
That's a lot for, for softball,
because, you know, most of the time,
two, three at the most is, you know,
and that third person is only getting work
if the first two got, you know,
plaster in the first part of the game,
or something like that part of it.
So, it's definitely one of those things
that you don't see a lot of with when it comes to,
you know, softball stuff like that, but a lot of depth.
So, that's good.
Now, are they all young, or are you that, you know?
We get shots, Ella, we're not shots,
but Grace, no, she takes pictures when she wants to.
We get Ella.
It's not my favorite thing.
It's not her favorite.
I get it, it's not her favorite.
She gets the occasional practice where she gets it.
She gets excited for it, but that's about three minutes
and then she...
It's more efficient, you might know.
Well, last year I was,
I caught a majority,
but the share he's looking at the main center field.
So, got to have somebody out there that can...
She covers it well, so...
You can see that, Steve, you know,
blanks.
Yeah.
So, and you used to run on the turf anyway,
so, well, that's not the same thing.
It's good grass, it's good grass.
Yeah, I can see it.
So, have you played center before?
I've probably, that went a little bit of it last year.
I don't even remember where all I went last year.
I probably went everywhere about it.
But, I mean, I know what to do.
So, just go do it.
Yeah.
Just go get the ball, right?
Yeah, just catch it.
Just catch the ball.
Catch what you got to do.
Darren, it's been a while since I've been on the show.
I did it, I did a boo boo.
I skipped that first commercial.
I know.
So, let's, you know, pay some bills.
Yeah, let's go do our work
and recognize some of our sponsors.
We'll be right back after this.

Still can't believe she's gone.
I don't know how we're going to plan all of this.
I know.
I felt the same way when you're grandad passed.
The Kaufman Funeral Home really can help us get through it.
More than that.
They took care of us.
They made us feel like family.
They handled the entire situation
from beginning to end.
At Kaufman Funeral Home in Crematorium
in Mount Sterling, Kentucky,
we're honored to walk beside your family
with dignity and compassion every step of the way.
That's exactly what we need right now.

Did you play the picture of the room?
I know the kids' next name was all for you.
Oh.
And I was like, oh, he kicked me or any babe?
Hey, and we're back.
Yeah.
Paul's pullin' stuff again.
He's a good guy still.
How much does it cost you?
I'm back to the Crematorium Coaches Corner.
I'm kind of back to meet the dressing bank.
We're here with Minnefee Softball,
Coach Outfrey, and four seniors.
We got all the Golden Grace Rodgers.
That was Smallwood and Shadick's Loathe.
We've been talkin' a little bit of softball action
as we get ready for the season.
So, Coach, we talked about opening
with Morgu County.
You mentioned something that your schedule
was where it needs to be.
What do you mean by that?
I mean, as you know, we have 308 kids in school.
It don't really, you know, going up against the Ashlands
every day would not be the ideal schedule for us.
So, I mean, even if you look towards week one,
we go to Elliott on Tuesday,
which is a 63-year matchup that, you know,
it's always a good game between them.
Thursday, we go to Berea,
and then Saturday, we go to Paris.
So, we're playing more schools closer to our size.
That makes sense, too.
That makes a lot of sense.
It's a lot more fun to compete against
teams that are similar.
You know, you go play Ashland,
it might not be a fun game, right?
Might not be as close as it was on basketball for a run.
It could be worse.
There's nothing wrong with it.
No, that's good.
And because, I mean, those schools are exactly the same way.
Right?
You know, you want to be able to compete
and try to win some games and, you know,
have a front of the season and stuff like that.
So,
and of course, district-wise, you've got the same three districts
upon a triumphant County,
Bath County, and Round County.
So, for the most part,
the opponents for region-wise and
and district-wise are the same.
Is there anything, is there anyone like that?
I mean, is there any different
region teams there, or are all pretty much the same?
They're all the same.
Yeah, I think Rose Hill has a basketball,
has a basketball team, but other than that,
I think the region and districts
say it's the same for catching, catching, so.
No super-region of yet.
It's coming.
What do you get of yet?
Jeffrey, I have no idea.
We're not there, so I'm not real short.
So,
you got me going somewhere else.
What are we talking about?
What are we talking about the schedule?
That's what it was.
Yeah.
Yeah, so when's the first district match of the year?
First district match, it's supposed to be a week two,
but with the new fields,
I'm not sure when those are made played.
I believe we'll go to round on the 24th.
I go ahead and switch it up.
Because they're supposed to come here,
but I think that we're going to go there on the 24th
and then they're going to come to us later in the year.
But we host districts, so it's kind of,
we were just going to go over there and play two,
but they went to play on the field before district.
So, let me get.
There you go.
Well, I mean, at least the coaches,
they're very understanding.
As we get, we were very blessed in our district that,
I believe, I mean, I have a good relationship
with all three coaches in our district,
so they helped us out tremendously.
So, was the plan, was it your turn all along
to do the host of the district,
or did that just happen?
Because we're putting new fields in.
Having, because we're putting new fields in.
Our old fields, the baseball and the softball fields
were not regulation.
They weren't able to host districts with the seating capacity
and the backstop was too short.
You know, you name it, it was probably wrong.
But with the new fields, we're capable of it.
And it's something we've talked about for years.
And of course, it's just, I get the lucky draw
to be the first one to do it.
But baseball and softball has been at separate places for years.
And we've kind of struggled with that.
Like, as a athletic director, I couldn't go,
I guess my girls were playing,
I couldn't go watch our boys play.
So, we're kind of, kind of doing it back
to where we do all the rest of the districts.
It's keeping them in the same place.
So, like, our fans can go be cheering
on the baseball and just kind of.
Gives it more of the high school field.
I mean, right now, it just feels like there's
no better games for districts.
So, more people support.
Of course, you don't want to make it sound like a business,
but ticket sales will boost a little bit.
The mayor does want to do this.
Yeah, right.
So, you'll get to have baseball and softball districts both.
Yeah, we'll host baseball.
So, now, do those runs concurrently
or is it like one, one week and one in the next?
No, they'll be in the same week,
but we'll kind of do it like the way we do the basketball now.
We'll do girls first two games on Monday
and then Tuesday will be baseball
and then Wednesday will be a championship.
Yeah, it's all so forth.
So, you know, Thursday Friday championships.
Yeah.
Still do this every night, so.
Well, that'll be cool.
Yes, it will be.
So, let's not get off topic,
but you guys did just host the basketball districts.
Yeah.
How is that?
I mean, there's probably been a hot minute
since you've done that, right?
Yeah, every four years, we get to host.
As a lot of people, I mean, every athletic director
always tell you that buying the trophies
and the ceremony is always the hardest part.
But it makes it well worth it when you get to hand
the trophy to your kids.
And that makes it well worth it at the end of the day.
So, as much as much as it was stress
and the parking and everything else that was caused by that week,
to hand our girls the trophy on.
Thursday minute, well worth it.
Right.
And then Cody Parks become a superstar
with his call of the boys championship game.
Yeah, Brody killed it.
He did our girls championship and they did the boys
when the cross-kid hit the game winner.
So, he's got a lot of recognition from it.
Well, that whole, will he go down the heat row
or will he be the hero and then he hit that shot?
So, I thought that was, I thought that was pretty cool.
Yeah, it's really cool.
I mean, he's just a freshman.
Yeah.
Yeah, absolutely.
That was awesome.
That was awesome.
Nothing get off topic there.
Right.
Let me give a shout out real quick.
I get a shout out.
When you see a lot of schools,
our school district is really pushed for more of the student
led stuff in the previous,
previous couple of years.
It's kind of been one of those things where you just kind of
like, yeah, we'll get to it and we get to it.
But this year, Jag did all of our concession stands.
So, our kid, our Jag with Mr.
Atkins ran all of the concession stands.
Our people that were doing the clock keeping
was a student, was Bryson Jackson.
Their PA announcer, it's absolutely killed.
He's already got jobs lined up.
Was Evan back.
He does a fantastic job.
If you need anybody, call Evan to do your public address.
And then Brody, Brody did the,
I mean, it's just insane to see what our kids are capable of.
I mean, we know what our kids are capable of on the field,
on the court.
But we have so many kids walking the hallways
that are so much capable of everything
that I'm glad we were able to showcase that.
We got approached by
Shooter, can you think of his first name?
Seabalt.
Yeah.
Bill.
Bryson.
Bryson.
He came up to us at V-Dabs after the game.
The night was talking to us a little bit.
I had commented on Brody's call.
I was like, is this a future from Quarter Quarter Broadcaster?
You know, it's a, because, I mean,
the passion and the emotion that he showed in that
is what we're trying to do,
and why we do what we do.
So it was fun being able to do that.
He was, the break was nervous, so I'll get out.
But I mean, he was a super nice kid.
We talked for several minutes.
It's stuff like that.
So, and I know he's a really good soccer player too,
so it's fun.
It's really fun on all that part of it, so.
All right, so let's talk about Shoes.
Do you, we do Team Shoes?
Or does everybody get to wear what they want to wear?
We do this year.
Not normally, but we splurge this year.
Yeah.
Okay.
We have more about the choice of Clicks or Turf Shoes.
Okay.
So what's the difference?
For those idiots, like me and the dumbass.
Well, Turf Shoes are specifically for Turf,
like they don't have the spikes,
which obviously you can get like metal or molded,
so our option, they didn't have option of metal,
just because you're going to have to wear a long Turf too,
so our options are molded to cleats,
which have the little spikes or whatever.
And then Turf Shoes,
they just have like a smaller, more like a grippy.
It's kind of like groups, like little groups.
You know, like little nubs around them.
Now, one or the other, or, you know,
is one better, if it was wet, or something like that.
I mean, I'm a Turf Shoes fan in when I'm playing on Turf,
so that's what I got.
But I mean, it's really just preference,
I wouldn't say one is better than the other.
So they white and green, black and white?
They're white and all white.
All white and white.
And then we'll be all white and white and all white.
That would look good for a game.
Well, look at my pretty shoes.
A gamer of pitch.
A gamer of pitch.
I said a gamer of pitch.
We might get an any.
We might get an any.
Yeah, I mean, bass is pretty stills.
So what brand are they?
They're new belts.
Okay.
Only way to go.
Yeah.
What did they say that?
I mean, new belts, man.
I mean, new belts, Mike's a con.
I don't think she.
Wait a minute.
Did we have new uniforms this year?
No, of course, I don't think it's as far as that far.
That's a subject really killed me.
Oh, come on.
Hold on.
Next.
That's funny.
So we know you're playing the center.
We know you're playing shortstop and picture.
Are you catching this year or the end?
Oh, no.
I told Alfred I would not play if I had to catch this game.
Steve thought third, right?
Yes.
That's one of that.
Okay.
First, and then I'm one of our four pictures.
Okay.
All right.
So, and we got JC playing second.
So we got her in, Phil, Philed out.
Who's playing catcher?
Your chat accent.
Taylor.
So we have a low seventh grade.
Low seventh grade girl that just came up this year
and she's phenomenal.
She's like a mini-grater.
Yeah, she is.
A mini-grater.
That's a college.
That's probably a great college.
And what's her name?
Taylor Fultz, is her name.
Taylor.
That's a compliment right there.
So now, can she steal as many bases as her?
Oh, so.
I don't know if she does.
Mini-grater.
Okay.
Run, run, run like the wing, Greg.
Yeah.
So, let's see.
Daren, you got anything?
I'm running out of questions over here.
I'm not used to doing this, but I'm saying.
No.
No.
Let's see.
It's that time for another brewery.
Is it?
Yep.
Okay.
We'll take our lives for it, and we'll come back.
Just a minute.

What was the ticket to rep that we was talking about here?
What do we do?
We've got chosen as one of the three KHSWA KDA Ag Athletes for Kentucky.
And we found out on the 20th there when they do the award ceremony
on the floor of rope if I'm the outstanding one.
So it's a $1,000 scholarship for the three.
And then if you're the outstanding one, you get $2,000.
Okay.
So do you have to apply for that or is it discount on one of those?
Yeah, it's an application process.
You do even essay and fill out your activities and communities are, you know,
just the gist and then you have a coach and your Ag Mentor,
which I did my Ag Teacher, Mr. Cash, one of them, and then Mr. Offrey.
And they do a recommendation letter.
If you're a finalist, they email them and they have to send a recommendation letter.
And then you find out through email if you're one of the three.
Very cool. That'll be awesome.
Amen.
That's what I like here.
Yep. So we're two in a row for Ag Athletes.
There you go.
Yeah.
He went over all of them.
He was outstanding.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I think I remember seeing him.
I know.
Do you see that too?
Right.
So if you win that $2,000 scholarship, where are you going to apply that to?
I'm still deciding between UK and more head.
But I'm leaning UK because of, I've been blessed with a lot of scholarship opportunities.
So I'm hoping to go to UK and major in animal science and either minor or double major in communications.
So you plan on talking to animals?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I've done it my whole life.
So just figure out.
Keep going.
Now, I could do like this, except for I add to like RFDTV, anything like that.
The dream is to maybe anchor RFDTV or like Kentucky Fish and Wildlife one day.
Okay.
That had kind of, that made the switch last fall.
I wanted to be a vet since I was four.
I thought that's what you were headed with that.
Well, with an animal science degree, if I decide I still want to go that way.
I can.
They're both pretty versatile degree, so I can do pretty much anything that I want to with them.
Very cool.
Very cool.
Well, good luck.
I hope you win that.
Thank you for that part of it.
Yes.
Shadok time.
We may have talked about this during.
I saw her season, but I don't remember her.
Where are you going to college if you decided what you're doing?
I am, but I haven't heard her present this out.
I have so many.
I'm emails of flood inbox every day.
So I mean, it's just a matter of where I want to apply to.
Yeah.
These scholarship offers for any sport.
Some of them are, you know, like recruitment letters and, you know, offers and stuff like that.
And some of them are just the way we want you.
So, but I mean, them sitting in that really does show you how many colleges there is to choose from.
Because I mean, if I didn't get emails like I do, I wouldn't know these places existed.
No, I get that.
There is so many little small colleges and big colleges out there.
It's kind of crazy.
Of course, you think about just, if you're one of those 300 something schools, right?
So it's kind of nice that's out there.
So do you have a thought on whether you might play a sport?
I mean, I'm guessing that you soccer.
It would be soccer, but I'm trying to decide.
I'm leaning more towards probably not, but I mean, it's still, I mean, you know, I have the whole summer to think about it.
And I mean, I played it my whole life.
So I might just not want to give it up quite yet, but we'll see where it goes.
So what do you want to do career wise?
I'm going to get my sonography lessons to meet in ultrasound tech.
So that narrowed the field down quite a bit.
Yeah, that's me and my mom, we were supposed to be looking soon trying to figure out, you know,
the colleges that offer the courses I need to take, and then after we get that narrowed down,
narrow it down to the best of the best to try to figure out where I need to go.
I will definitely commend you on the fact of looking because my youngest had a career choice in mind,
and she went to Eastern, and three-quarters of the life of the semester, she's had a class,
and they're talking about it, and they were using her path as an example,
and her teacher basically was like, well, when you do four years here,
but you're not getting that degree here, you'd have to go somewhere else, and she was like, well, yeah.
And I was like, that was a great decision because that saved me thousands of times.
So I've told, I tell kids all the time, I love the fact that you want to go to college,
but have a plan.
And I think as a society, we don't do a very good job of having a plan and prepping people,
so promise to you and your mom for looking and understanding and having a plan on what you want to do going into that.
So, what about you, Aubrey?
I plan to go to EKU and get my bachelor's in business accounting with a modern sociology, and I'm going to room with Jay-C.
All right.
Yeah, I'm excited about that for it.
I mean, it's always we have to have a word of weight that you're familiar with.
Yeah.
So, what's the word Jay-C?
What about you, Grace?
Well, like I said, I'm going to say, Joseph, for softball, and I'm getting a major in ultrasound too.
So, I don't know business.
All right.
Yeah, I just got back here and just have the ultrasound technology.
I'll bring you to your business, can I?
Yeah, I can.
So, look and reach the sheep outside.
I'll feed you all it's all right.
Try to get some score updates, but somebody's not reading your text message.
So, I'm not sure what's going on with that part of it yet.
So, all right.
Well, if you want a score update, GRC beats got high 81 to 53.
Taylor, county, beat, cavern of 52 to 35 in the fifth region.
That to me is a surprise.
That's all I got so far.
Great crossing is down 13 to 8 after the first quarter.
Great crossing in?
Yeah, against Douglas.
I think once Douglas took down Madison.
But Madison was down over their key players.
Yeah, they lost him.
Asher kid, they lost him in the first frame of the regionals.
So, I don't know.
We'll see.
It's going to be fun.
Boys and girls both.
I think GRC has a really good shot of winning the girls side.
They have played assumption.
They don't add assumption.
But that was before the girls from Boyd County joined forces.
Edson.
Edson, yes.
She's pretty good.
All right.
So, we got a little bit of hardware to talk about this week.
We're back on track now with our simply secured athlete of the week.
Nominees.
And we've kind of been off of that the last week or so.
There's not been a lot going on.
So, but, you know, from Montgomery County.
Nominee from basketball, Addison Terry.
She broke 1,000 points here at Montgomery County.
And totaled over 2,400 points in her career.
So, she broke over 1,000 points at two different schools.
That was pretty cool.
From GRC track, Bailey Howard.
One, the class 3a pole vault.
With an 11 foot 6 inch mark.
So, that was pretty impressive there.
Memphis County.
J.C. Jeviden.
Did not break the scoring record.
But, she still had a very impressive week.
So, that's not only there.
And then from Bass County track, Jonah Gibson.
He set a new Kentucky indoor low jump record.
22 feet, 8 1 1 2 inches.
His first jump was 20 foot.
And there was a few others that had that 20.
And then he came back with his second jump.
And did that 22, 8 1 1 1 1 1 1.
And I was kind of reading a little bit on the article.
They didn't think at first that he was who he was supposed to be.
They literally had to check his identity.
Because he gained over 2 feet on that second jump.
Bass County.
They thought he was Superman.
I thought that was pretty cool on that part of it.
So, that graphic will be ready to drop.
Come Wednesday morning.
And then, of course, those nominees.
Not only are our simply secured athletes of the week nominees.
But there are also the people that we get to vote on for
our May's Law Office People's Chamber.
So, we're able to kick that back off.
Right in time for softball season and baseball season
to start kicking off next week.
So, we'll be able to start utilizing those players for some nominees
and stuff as we move forward on that part of it.
So, then this makes Runky's dog the week.
Challenge.
Yes.
You want a live final score at day?
Sure.
Boyd County over Russell 76-71.
Literally just ended.
I was surprised by that.
They were tied at 51 early in the third,
and then Boyd turned it on.
They had a word they didn't want to say that.
What's his name?
Spur.
Spur.
I don't know.
He's something else.
So, that Ashland, Boyd County, I don't know if Ashland's
lines are not, but they, I think they play next.
And they play Rastlin.
So, I'd say they do.
Probably when they came.
Since it's three months.
Yeah.
So, but anyways, our Runky dog the week was Peyton Burgess had
two rebounds in the regional tournament.
And if I saw that correctly, it was the third highest in the
regional tournament.
Yep.
So, and she was on that list twice in the top 10.
Once from last year, once from this year.
So, it's pretty impressive.
So, congrats to her on that part of it.
So, now, next week, we are going a little further east than
we normally do.
We're going to go around County.
And we are welcoming in the new athletic director,
Broderick Moore.
And he is bringing the brand new head football coach.
And I could not locate his name anywhere.
And my text message is to Broderick today.
So, he'll be here too.
I will know that before next Monday.
But they will be here.
I think it's on the second time we've had Round County on the
show.
But, you know, they actually reached out and wanted to bring him on
and introduce him.
So, that's what we're going to do.
And then in a couple of weeks, we'll have Bath County baseball.
And then, that will be pretty much everybody.
That's when we come on the show.
So, we got coaches that knew they wanted to come on the show.
Can you believe that?
Yeah, I could have gone home with the bed, but.
Right.
It's all for her.
They could go ahead.
It's just eight o'clock.
Yeah.
I don't know.
I don't know.
All right.
There you got anything else?
I do not, sir.
You sure?
You're not going to start talking again.
You're going to...
Oh, I'm sure I'll come up with something.
I'm going to start talking.
I'm sure I'll do it.
Paul's very good, man.
He's hit the shut up.
Well, Paul, girls.
Thank you all for coming on.
Good luck in the upcoming season.
Hopefully, maybe we can get it worked out to come call to you.
The first games of their feet.
We can get that worked out.
Yeah.
We'll find the press box.
Nice.
That's right.
Perfect.
Okay.
All right.
There we go.
All right.
Well, thanks everybody for tuning in to episode 383.
Good luck to all teams in the state tournaments coming up.
