Episode 11: Satoshi's Gulch - Bitcoin and Ayn Rand with Luke Blough

Mike interviews Luke Blough about his introduction to Bitcoin and what led him to create the website Satoshi's Gulch. 

Luke graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Biology and then went to work for a vertical farming ranch in Colorado. Luke talks about how the money printing during COVID caused him to question how the financial system functioned. At the same time, his brother finally convinced him to read Atlas Shrugged. He then spent hours upon hours listening to Bitcoin content and Atlas Shrugged while he worked on a vertical farming ranch in Colorado. He even listened to content when he went for long runs outside. He became such a Bitcoin bull that he wanted to work in the space and moved to Austin to work for Unchained Capital. 

Luke documented some of his favorite Bitcoin learning resources in the website Satoshi's Gulch. He also sells copies of Atlas Shrugged and t-shirts with "Satoshi's Gulch" on them (they are probably my favorite shirts I own now).

Mike and Luke continue to talk about the horrors of Keynseian Economics and how a truly free market would solve many of the world's problems. Luke also goes into the best way to hold Bitcoin. "Not your keys, not your coins" is discussed and Luke talks about the difference between exchanges and hardware wallets. This leads into the discussion about the multi-sign functionality in Bitcoin's code that helps prevent people from losing access to his or her Bitcoin in the event that a hardware wallet is lost, broken, or stolen.
