Reviews: Exorcism at Buckingham Palace #1, 51 #1, Tigress Island #1, One Piece s2
Jimmy is ecstatic over the K-Pop Demon Hunters Oscar wins. And teases the upcoming episode 1700 recording. Thanks, as always, to reviewers Avery, Marta and Melissa. And to Emily for the news which includes: Netflix officially confirms K-Pop Demon Hunters sequel, Buffy reboot cancelled, a Firefly animated series may be on the way and more. Emily and Jimmy both editorialize about some of the news. They both have ties to Firefly fandom and give their opinions on it all. Jimmy fell out of the fandom years ago and explains why but still remains hopeful for the animated series.

From New York City, this is Comic News Insider.
Here's a recent podcast for African Comic books, animation, sci-fi, and pop culture produced by Joe Gonzalez.
Here's your host, Jimmy Aquino.
Episode 1698, everybody's Jimmy Aquino with another weekly comic news insider for you.
If you notice the number, episode 1700 is arriving in the next week or two.
Pretty sure Joe and I are going to have a special guest, my friend Chris Sheridan, who was a showrunner on Resident Alien.
He also was a producer on Family Guy for quite a while, and we just want to catch up with him so he's doing.
Maybe one other friend might join us. We'll see you waiting to hear back.
I was walking out last night and we're going to just do Joe and I chilling and chatting about stuff.
But we're like, okay, let's see if we can get a couple people if we can.
So we're recording them actually later tonight.
It is Monday.
But yeah, hey, so last night Oscars just happened.
And Super Stoked, of course, at K-Pop Demon Hunters 1, the two categories there are up for best animated film and best song.
Got a little emotional when Maggie Kang accepted for, well, the three of them accepted for the best animated film it hers.
Speech was a little emotional and of course when they won best song, EG went up there with the other songwriters.
And she spoke first.
They did some really crappy, like the next guy was about to get on and they just started loudly playing the playoff music way too early.
Cut him off, cut his mic off.
And I'm like, that's really rude because so many other people and other categories.
You know, I think best songs are pretty big category.
But like I felt like another category of people would start and they would sort of let them finish a little bit.
And it was like, okay, maybe by the way, they got to the third person.
Maybe they'd start to play him off, but it was just like she kept hers pretty short to give the others time.
And it just felt really uncool and not very nice.
But anyway, can't take it away from that. Of course, their song, they killed it and it was really great.
So they sang a building at the Oscars. It was great.
Or they queued at the end. They sort of stayed on stage. And so it looked like they had to be sort of ushered off very nice.
Oh, we got to go guys, but they're clearly soaking it all up in and still probably in disbelief that this is all happening.
Like their humility has stayed with them, which is really great.
But yeah, super stoked for it.
Now, there might be some news in the news section about K-Pop even Hunter.
So yeah, also this not this week, the following week in his mocha, the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Artists,
thrown by the Society of Illustrators.
Pretty sure Joe and I'll be there. I've got a few energies lined up. We'll see.
Trying to think of crazy with them, but yeah, I think I'll have at least maybe four or five. We'll see how it goes.
All right. I do have, and of course, thank you. It was always a week for my reviewers. Again, thank you to Avery Martin, Melissa this week.
But yeah, let's get right into those reviews if we can.
All right. First of all, we have from IDW's Exorcism at Buckingham Palace by Hannah Rosmay, Kelsey Ramsey, and Heather Brackle.
And Avery is here with another great review. Let's get right into that. Here we go.
Hi. My name is Avery Kaplan, and I'm a writer, comics fan, and print enthusiast.
You may recognize me from my work as the Eisner Award-winning features editor at Comic Speed,
or from my many bylines across the internet and beyond.
Today, I am reviewing the Exorcism at Buckingham Palace number one from IDW's IDW Dark Imprint.
This extra long first issue is written by Hannah Rosmay with Art by Kelsey Ramsey,
Colors by Heather Brackle, and Letters by Jody Chapman.
The issue that kicks off the miniseries the Exorcism at Buckingham Palace is a slow burn, presumably supernatural horror story centered on the British royal family as they face unexpected change in tragedy.
After the first few members of the line of succession are lost at sea, the king must prepare to instead advocate the throne to his grandson, Theo.
But while Theo has a history of public junkiness as chronicled by the tabloids, he has since 12 stepped his way into recovery.
However, as the stresses of taking the throne begin to take their toll, Theo finds himself tempted by his past addiction, which may be paired with a haunting of a more conventionally demonic nature.
This issue features sketchy ink-blooded art that manages to display the shadows creeping into even the brightest spaces.
Given the grim and serious tone of the story, this aesthetic is well-suited for the comic.
And while at 40 pages this issue is longer than your average floppy, all the narrative set up for the series that must accomplishes done competently and painlessly, culminating in a cliffhanger splash page that promises some heavy-duty exorcism to come.
While I know that the author has penned previous stories with similar titles, like the exorcism at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, this is my first experience with her work.
So, while I can't speak to whether or not there is any connection between the stories, I can say that this issue is a decent introduction to Hannah Rose May's writing.
For comic news insider, I'm Avery Kaplan.
Awesome, thanks so much, Hannah.
Thank you, Hannah. I interviewed Hannah over the summer at San Diego Comic-Con.
Yeah, there is no correlation that I remember between the two because I did read the Penn Station One. I don't think there is.
Maybe there's a long game. She's running that eventually. There will show some sort of connection.
I know that the first one got picked up to be adapted into the film, I think, or TV film. Yeah, it's like that.
Yeah, this one, I really enjoyed this one, actually. I like the first one as well. The Pennsylvania, I was the one, but this one I'm dealing with the Royal Family, and the line of succession that whole craziness that goes on there.
Well, you're not who I wanted, but you're part of my family, so that's what we're getting. It's always been kind of crazy.
And sometimes it's turned out okay, you know, like with the whole back in the day when it was at Prince Edward, abdicated in King George of Cain, who was the father of Queen Elizabeth, who lasted, you know, a million years as Queen.
So sometimes it works out, you know, the drive to doesn't, but yeah, in this case, as Avery said, we get kind of a screw up who's trying to fix his life, something thrust into the spotlight.
In the first one, I don't want to keep comparing it back. The first one that definitely felt more, there was like a literal access and so maybe it would happen here as well, but this one has more, kind of as Avery said, creeping demons in a sense.
You know, there's these shadowy things that are around and it's not as sort of in your face. And while it was a lengthy one, it never felt like it was a trudge to read.
Yeah, I quite enjoy it. I really enjoy M&J and Hannah's writing. And she seems to be a new horror writer on the scene. And they get it. So yeah, check it out.
Next we have is 51 number one from Mad Cave Studios by Kurt Pires, Jack and Mike and Myers. So let's get right into that and we'll play a marchers review.
Hi, this is Marta and this is my review for 51 issue number one. And in the story, we have a main character who's kind of a mess up and his dad who's the president sends him off to area 51 to work in the warehouse a little bit like a they refer to it as like an Amazon shipping facility.
Nothing exciting, right? The packages come in. He scans labels, move things around. Kind of seems a bit like a boring monotonous job, which they refer to as a prison.
So that is the premise. This was not my favorite thing that I've read. Not the worst thing that I've read. It was okay. I'm going to start with some things that just kind of felt a little clunky for me.
I felt like the artwork was not necessarily like my preference of things that I enjoy looking at. I'm very talented. It was really cool looking, but it just was very busy.
And there were times like I was just kind of having trouble making sense what was happening on the pages and kind of went along with the storytelling.
Sometimes the transitions were jumping. It kind of took me some processing of hey, visually what's happening, what's happening with the story. It wasn't always easy to follow.
And I definitely can tell like this is, you know, the advanced readers copy, but I kind of feel like they should.
Oh, no, what's going to come off there? What happened there? Let me see what's happening with this file. Just start again. Where are we, where are we, Marta?
Yeah, but so far I agree with some of the things she's saying. Let me see if we can find where she left off at.
Oh, can I skip ahead? Let's see.
Storytelling. Sometimes the transitions were jumping. It took me some processing of hey, visually what's happening, what's happening with the story. It wasn't always easy to follow.
And I definitely can tell like this is, you know, the advanced readers copy, but I kind of feel like they should put in a little bit more editing because there were some places where I feel like maybe that they need to switch some words around things that it quite flow correctly.
And even feel like a few panels here and there might have had some errors in it too. And I don't know if that's just me being dumb. I'm not able to understand some of the things going on or whether there were some.
Some errors in there that did genuinely confuse me when trying to read it.
But yeah, it was okay. I feel like the story itself definitely has potential and it was interesting, especially how it ended. I don't want to give away any spoilers.
I thought it kind of ended in an interesting way that makes me interested in issue number two.
I wouldn't give up on this right away. If you kind of like something that is, you know, kind of a bit of a sci-fi comedy, I guess, a little bit of darkness and roughness around the edges, if that's kind of your genre, then you'll probably like it.
And I kind of feel like, you know, a lot of times the first issue of things can be a little rough and it takes a time for the story to kind of find its footing.
I wouldn't rate this one off immediately. But definitely, like if you want to check it out, if these are the kind of things you like, go for it.
But if you don't, I'm not sure if you're missing something.
All right, thanks so much for the little technical glitch here.
I'd like to record things like it's a live show and keep them editing into a minimum as possible.
And so sometimes there's some mistakes in glitches I throw in there. Just like a shoe saying, there's mistakes in glitches that happen in advanced readers' copies.
So let me explain that real quick, if you don't know. So as a reviewer and podcaster of 20 plus years, I'm lucky.
And pretty much enough that a lot of companies, you know, make you part of the review list.
So you have access to advanced reader copies, as they call them.
I tend to review and if that's part of my team, I send them to you, like, just to my reviewers, Martin, Melissa, and Avery and people like that to read, not to share around, obviously.
And so those are often watermarked and sometimes they're not complete.
As she said, I don't know if this one needed more, a little bit more editing or not.
I didn't happen to notice that part, but she's also a brilliant teacher at Martin, so she definitely would notice things more than I will.
Yeah, same idea with me. I think it's a good idea. We're always intrigued by Avery 51, but I did feel the story did jump almost.
There's a whole thing like, it's like, hang over. They have a party and there's a fight that happens and suddenly wake up and everything's gone.
But it's just like, okay, well that happened really quickly and we were just supposed to say, okay, that's what happened.
But I do like that idea now that I have to go, sort of collect everything again and remind of me of Warehouse 13, that's a great stuff I show where all the...
It's like that warehouse where you see the end of Indiana Jones was the idea where they're putting the Ark of the Covenant and they're just surrounded by the boxes of clearly viable historical items and artifacts.
So basically that I did have to go recover all those artifacts and get them back. So it will be interesting to see. So I'll give this you two a shot to see what happens as well.
So you actually don't write it off, might be alright.
Alright, last up we have for comics that is Tigris Island number one from Image Comics by Patrick Conlon and EPHK and Melissa is here to chat about that.
Here we get to that one here. There we go.
It'd be nice if I hit... See, look at this life. Technical glitches, here we go.
Hey everyone, it's Melissa and we are here to talk about Tigris Island. This is a mini series and it's the premiere.
This is issue number one of five. It is written by Patrick Conlon and the artist. I am not cool enough to pronounce this.
I think it's just a date right for today.
You're enough to help me with that one, Jimmy.
A pick, a pick. Let's see. He's a Paris-born child of the 80s.
Well, I don't know how to say his name, but he's definitely got a style. I'm sure those of you who are fans of his will recognize it.
Those of you who know, no, I do not.
So Tigris Island is about a group of women. Some of them are sex workers. Some of them are actresses.
All of them have situations which have put them into circumstances which are less than fortunate.
They're kidnapped and put in a cargo box and flown to Tigris Island, which is an island prison run by this sort of like...
I guess like sexy sort of dominatrix with mistress type person lady.
So look, it's obviously very pulpy. Image is a little blurb says it's like inspired by these exploitation films, but I'm going to be honest in 2026.
This story feels a little old, first of all, and kind of like flat in terms of like our global experience with what's happening right now.
And I get its fiction. I understand. And I understand that some stories are outside of my comfort level or interest or space or things I want to read, which is fair for all of us.
But again, maybe in 2026 an island where women, blank-eyed women are kidnapped and given drugs and are sexualized and abused and beat up and have to work together to quote unquote try to escape from this island where they're exploited is a little bit on the nose for 2026.
Sorry for the extra cat commentary.
So I'm going to leave this review like this. It's a mini series. It's maybe full of like sort of like pulpy adventure.
Image really doesn't ever hardly ever disappoint. If you're a fan of this writer or this artist, this is definitely something you should pick up.
The style is really unique looking. So it might be worth your time to pick up from your local shop.
Alright, thank you. So it sounds like Muslims are stringent of it there because I think what I appreciate about my reviewers is that they, and I don't, I try to be, they're not, they try to be too negative about things.
I always say like, if you don't like something you don't like something, just don't be like jerky vibe like, I fucking hate this is a worse piece of crap. I think like that. So I was going to do that. I'm okay with it.
Yeah, I think she might have not liked it a little bit more than she was letting on. But yeah, at first when I saw there, I really liked the art style.
But at first saw the art of like, you know, you know, boobs popping out basically out of the dress and I'm like, okay, here we go.
I don't really need this, you know, but then I was like, okay, so it's maybe an homage slash, you know, maybe not spoof.
But of all those old school films like Faster, Pussycat Kill Kill, which are great.
Because it's such a move like that is very girl power on very like, you know, so they're like, okay, cool.
But sort of like what Marta was saying in her review for 51, maybe the first issue doesn't really get it right in like,
and completely and maybe by issue two, you'll start to understand better like what they were going for here.
But yeah, so I didn't love it that much either. So just sort of just like, especially what she was saying, alluding to about, you know, curd world, things with women on islands.
Not great timing, I guess. But I'm sure this was probably written before, you know, who knows before that happened or maybe it's a comment on it, who knows.
But yeah, it's, I guess I do really like your style, just maybe not what was shown so much, but again, I get it's an homage to these types of films.
So again, it might be this, maybe let's see what issue two brings to see, but first one didn't really grab me so much either.
But you might be thinking, you might like it.
Okay, let's go into the last review here. This one would do solo. It's one piece season two, just dropped on Netflix.
And of course, I had to watch it all in a couple of days. And we are heading into the grandline, which was basically the tagline of season two.
So Luffy's his enthusiasm in the actor placement is great. Like I love his enthusiasm. If I play that enthusiasm, leads the whole gang in a danger again.
Not a purpose, but it always in those colorful and silly ways possible. That's what Luffy about the show.
I mean, I've never seen the anime nor read the manga, but it is just sort of silly and fun.
And I know there's like literally over a thousand episodes of the anime, like I looked it up because like 1150, like oh my god, that's very daunting to get into. Like maybe I should start.
I like that. It's a lot. My guy knows a lot as well, but yeah.
Well, it's action packed and violent. It's mostly unrealistic violence.
The first stop is into a small time where they are seemingly very welcome. Like they love pirates there for some reason.
But I don't know what to trap. They pick up a stray who happens to be not whom we initially think she is because there's these group of assassins.
And they are always in two, just like Sith. Oh no.
And one of them is one of these part of this duo, but then she has a little backstory going on we learn about.
I really like her a lot. The actress as well. I remember the character a lot and I'm seemingly joining the gang a bit.
And she started part of this kingdom that is possibly under attack. But yeah, she's somewhat important.
So then we're off to an abandoned kingdom where they run into a witch, a bad guy trying to take back the kingdom.
There's like a talking little reindeer, a quacky doctor who could easily be a Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown and back to the teacher cosplayer and more.
That's a little on the nose. It's very Doc Brown. The way the actress playing it, but also the way they sort of had him look.
I was like, oh, maybe it's an homage, you know, but I'm also amazes in these reviews.
More devil fruit baddies, of course. There's a great moment. They ended up on this island.
And so the little garden where they meet these two giants and the group is split up and they get attacked by other like assassin types.
But yeah, the giants are very benevolent and they're in hundreds of years battle where they meet every day to have a duel.
And they always end in a draw. But yeah, they're really fun because they're just really sweet giants, you know.
But yeah, it's the little reindeer is adorable and cute, but of course has a little background as well.
We get into some really great characters throughout. And again, this is just fun.
The cast is mostly kind of unknowns and some seem to still be finding their feet a little bit, but they get there in the end.
As I said, I know that anime has thousands of episodes, but I have no idea if they've ever, or even the manga, if they've ever gotten and found the one piece, which is this, you know,
legendary treasure who knows how much it is and it makes you king of the pirates or something like that.
By having it, but I'm guessing like if the Netflix show ever comes to, they know it's commanding.
They'll probably write an ending where he was with it, who knows, but I'm in time soon, so like two seasons.
I could see this last year at least a couple more, if not longer. I can't imagine going past four, but I'll just give that sort of the way of the Netflix series nowadays.
I don't feel like a lot of them go too long, listen wildly crazy popular, like, you know, stranger things.
But yeah, we'll see what happens here, but it's so far enjoying it. Like I said, it's just, it's just really, I keep using the word fun, but it really is fun.
It's funny. The action I said is ridiculous, but it's cool. A lot of the fight scenes are just, you know, again, throw the word silly out, but it's so entertaining. I really enjoy it.
All right, let's get in. We've got a bunch of news here today and Emily's got some editorializing during the news as she told me, so let's get right into that.
This week in the news.
All right, take it over Emily.
Hello, see you, nihilisters. It is I, Emily Edwards here with the news and there's a bunch of it. So we're going to dive right in first off. No surprise to anyone.
Netflix has officially announced the sequel to K-pop Demon Hunters. Maggie Kong and Chris Apollons are returning to direct.
The follow-up film will be the first project out of Netflix's exclusive multi-year writing and directing partnership with Kong and Apollons across animation.
As previously mentioned, don't expect the sequel until 2029 at the earliest due to the amount of time it takes to make an animated feature.
And speaking of animation ahead of the second season of the animated series X-Men 97 coming this summer, Marvel Comics is releasing X-Men 97 season 2, an official prelude five issue comic series by Steve Fox and Salva Espon.
The story will pick up right at the end of season one and lead into the new series first issue out in June.
In other news, the chainsaw man manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto will conclude with his 232nd chapter on Wednesday, March 25th.
An anime series adapting the first 38 chapters premiered in 2022 and received a film continuation the Rezi arc last year.
A second season of the show Assassin's Arc is currently in the works and the comics also been adapted into stage plays, a prose novel, and video games.
In disappointing news, Seren Michele Galler revealed on Instagram that Hulu has decided to not go forward with a planned Buffy the Vampire reboot.
Oscar winner Chloe Zhao was set to direct the pilot but Hulu felt the script was quote not perfect.
They have left open possible plans to revisit in the future, hopefully something will happen.
And other Weedonverse news Nathan Filion has been teasing for weeks about something Firefly related.
On Sunday he revealed that a new animated series is in the works.
The whole cast will be involved Weedon Fox and Disney have all given their approval.
Showrunners will be Tara Butters, Mark Guggenheim, Shadow Machine will be the animation studio and a pilot script is written.
Alas, it doesn't have a home yet, so he and the cast are hoping to that this news and his viral video teases will help remedy that.
Our host Jimmy definitely has things to say on this later.
From my perspective, I am cautiously optimistic. I think it'd be great to get the band back together.
The brown coat fandom is mighty and I'm excited for them to get something that they've been hoping for for many many many years.
I know I personally have met many people through the brown coat fandom including our host Jimmy.
So yes it is a little personal for me and I'm excited about it.
Great and the last but certainly not least in a story that Jimmy is anxious to hear Emily's thoughts on.
Disney's live action remake of the animated Robin Hood film is dead.
Filmmaker Carlos Lopez Estrada said that the studio was not moving forward with his planned photorealistic musical.
So if you know me then you know I'm a big fan of Robin Hood.
Robin Hood is kind of like my OG superhero and I grew up with the animated film and honestly I'm not terribly distraught about this.
Like for me, the Disney Robin Hood is him as a fox.
I don't know that like changing that to an actual person would be the way to go.
Or like if I try to do some kind of weird CGI fox, I don't know.
I can see why they decided not to go forward with it and I am okay with that decision.
And that's the news back to you Jimmy.
I think it would probably be like very like Lion King like right?
Like it would probably be like in a CGI animals.
But also I think that also they were just too worried because it's so funny.
So many people are like in the original cartoon that they found feelings when they were watching Robin Hood because they thought that you know the Robin Hood fox was so charismatic and dare I say sexy.
So I was like oh there's just didn't want to like make it.
He was too sexy. They couldn't do it.
Okay let me briefly go into the Firefly News.
So yes Emily is correct.
We met through the Firefly fandom.
I was really into it when it started.
I did not want to start it.
So I missed it when it came out because of course it's famous how the fox aired episodes out of order didn't aired at all sometimes and preempted by a game or who knows.
Well the people know I still remember.
When the movie came out serenity.
2005 I got into because and right before it because my late friend John Cassidy as you all know was friends with the Joss Whedon and visited the set.
He's like oh this looks great. Have you not seen the series?
I was like alright so I went and bought the DVD.
It was only 14 episodes and I was like this is great.
Really great story. I love this. I really got into it.
And then as I was looking for like a screening before because I wanted to see it before it came out.
There's all these screenings that were happening.
So I found this like brown coat group which was the local fandom.
And what to see with them met several people and they would have meetups every Saturday.
Like a local bar kind of near where I worked.
And if I worked that night I'd just go in for a quick hello and hang out maybe a quick bite deed for an hour.
If I wasn't I'd hang out with them and I made some very very good friends.
I'd never done something like that before some sort of fan group like that where I'd join one and like literally one to you know meetings and hang out with people.
Or meetups and parties and like that.
So I made some great friends you know including Emily and the local chapter Mike and Gypsy and Josie and all sorts of people you know I'm still friends with to this day.
And I lean and you know I'm forgive people obviously sorry.
And then the West Coast crew I met when I went out there for Comic Con I met up with some of them and still very good friend like one of my regular reviews Melissa is one.
And I see her and Christina usually every year and Kim out at Comic Con and we've remained really good friends all of us and I loved them dearly.
But here's my little thing as the show Asian as I you know felt I sort of fell out of the fandom because I started sort of re looking at it.
And the whole concept of the series is that basically the U.S. and China the two major powers on Earth after Earth was used up flew into space and formed this alliance together.
So those are the two main groups so that's why you would see in the show everyone speak English but there's also bits of Chinese here and there.
However the Chinese here and there was always in the background there were no major Asian characters they were you know outfits that were of you know Chinese and Asian origin and the only time you hear Chinese for the most part was when they cursed ha ha to this funny.
That really started to bother me because I feel like clearly River and Simon Tam the last name Tam I believe is you know the Chinese origin were supposed to be and they weren't because you know China is straight up white on white.
I think some of them might have like a quarter of an eighth of some Asian in her but um but so it's like they're they're they're I think I read somewhere maybe a Nara might have been originally meant to be played by an Asian actress and which might have been problematic to have any nation playing that prostitute.
Like the only Asian character.
So yeah it was.
You just can't tell me you couldn't find people and that's really you know and I get those doses back in early 2000s doesn't matter.
Uh you could at least one character you know and I felt like you could have made your character so that really started about it here so I've always kind of been like I'm done with it.
I'm letting stories are great.
Had a great time but if it ever comes back it needs to correct this and then they started doing comics in our friend in front of the show.
Greg Pock who is Korean American started writing some of these comics and introduced Asian characters major Asian characters which is fantastic.
If this animated series does that as well.
I'm all in am I going to check it out when it comes out of course because you know I love the actors involved you know I've met many of them interview them and again through John.
You know I ended up hanging out with them because I think it's no secret now you know he used to date summer glow and I got her a bit when they were dating and then.
You know he brought in Nathan civilian one time to where I worked we all went out and kept him out till like 8 a.m.
I was broke him and did this amazing hour long and if you would Nathan at a hotel like a couple days later.
And you know I'm in touch with you know I was in touch with a lot of them for a while by no means am I friends with them but you know.
I like them they're great and I'm happy they love this thing they've done is brought together so many people and I'm so happy for my friends that are firefly fans.
But I'm keeping it as a let's see for my personal self that hope that they sort of you know course correct you know when it comes out with a pilot.
It's supposed to take place between the movie and serenity I think yeah because yeah because the movie they I mean between the series in the movie.
Because in the movie I said people died in a character's died and so that's why see Alan Tudick still involved and because and I was sadly wrong glass passed away years ago.
And also you know Adam Baldwin isn't the greatest person around his big party game or gate if not sort of named it.
And which was awful you know misogynistic and hateful and and and the whole thing was you know racist and all that stuff.
So it's kind of not great to see him back and I get he was an actor a character but it's like I don't know.
So we'll see. I will I will check it out of course and again happy for my firefly friends that they're getting something they they will probably enjoy.
But the way didn't see for me so anyway as far as for the buffy reboot yet that's really sad and it happens you know creative differences.
I don't know if it was you know Chloe Zhao was always a such you said giant fan of the series.
But sometimes it just says you know the exact same like the the pot who knows what happened there but hopefully it'll it'll be open for more.
All right there was one other thing I didn't want to include in the main story we did report how there was this you know some different scripts being submitted for new GI Joe movie and in good news at least for a lot of people.
Paramount pictures in Hasbro have decided not to move forward with screenwriter Max Landis is versioned.
And to be talking about Max Landis is just was you know accused by multiple women of you know harassment and all that other you know just and I've you know seen him in person and interviewed him and so many but no they've interviewed as it's seen him and how they're like man that dude is not good not cool.
My my experience really came across very arrogant.
And just really sure of himself and just really kind of just seemed like not a nice person but just an opinion who knows.
I think a lot of people know but yeah anyway so that's that I do have a few that's running a little long sorry for that but I do have a few things to recommend and we do that in our top three.
All right gonna go through these here laser eye surgery by Walker Tate from Fantographics this is one of the books I'll be reading in preparation for mocha and hopefully we'll be doing interviews possibly with Walker.
So first graphic novel we follow this unnamed man who takes a flyer for laser eye surgery clinic never good idea taking a flyer just for something so serious.
And that suspicious as they may seem he gets intrigued and decides to go through it because it's cheap.
And while his sight isn't great ours is the reader and we see it is indeed a fraudulent operation.
His recovery seems to take a while and he starts to see specs in the air that may have deeper perhaps other rolling meaning.
He begins to have paranoid that he has been compromised in some ways as if he's being spied on like sort of a lot big brother is watching type thing all of social media today.
It's a very trippy serialistic journey meant to confuse the reader maybe and certainly maybe a bit of all on the above.
Having had an eye procedure done myself where I had basically had my cornea removed because I was having this massive pain in my left eye and I would see specs and I was like maybe I need to reason revisit my eye doctor to make sure she was spying on me.
And the black and white art is really full of clean like line work and bizarre images of our protagonist mine starts to falter into paranoia.
He seems to play with a perspective as well not a great you know I don't really describe very well but I'm doing this reminds me a little bit of maybe Chester Brown's work if that's what I'm thinking of.
And which is not an insult at all of course well it's not as wordy it doesn't mean it's a quick read it's quicker than some but that take the time to really take in the arc that's really great.
Instead of possibly interviewing Walker in a weekend house so you can get some more info then but yeah check it out laser ice or dream.
Next up on Amazon Prime is young Sherlock created by Matthew Parkhill developed by Peter harness and Guy Richie and I think he directed.
Yeah I did directed whole series.
It's inspired by Andrew Lane's young Sherlock Holmes book series which I of course didn't know existed which of course is a cast.
His own cake on Arthur Corridor was original Sherlock Holmes stories.
Yeah stars hero fiend Tiffin as the young homes.
It's a really great cast I think it's only six episodes it's easy to sort of blast through.
But yeah you get a young Sherlock is brilliant but I was getting the trouble so his older brother Myron has to sort of bail him out literally out of jail.
So I'm off to you know prestigious university boxers like that and where he meets but he's not a student he makes me like basically a porter cleaner you know.
And there he meets a more yardie who becomes friends with and they both have these adventure that's very action packed.
It's witty the dialogue of course and you see the beginnings of sort of what he would call the other Sherlock series that's been into cumberbatch.
His sort of mind pal so I don't call that that here.
They don't want to use the same term but he has this whole thing where he can go into his mind and sort of restructure what happened earlier and he can get people in there can.
He can talk with about like so you know this is what happened here how can we solve this thing and they get in trouble they get accused of things.
And there's a princess from Asia who comes over and and sort of fights him then joins him then you know so again a lot of great fights in two more than I expected.
But again it got some big names in it who sort of guests are like Colin Firth is there.
But yeah this is really a lot of fun enjoy to check it out.
And finally we have is on Netflix Peaky Blinders the Immortal Man podcast that's a new Peaky Blinders movie.
They came out on theaters and it's coming on Netflix I think in a couple weeks.
So I haven't seen it it's the movie basically I think it was camera how many series the show we've never seen Peaky Blinds incredible.
So this one really deals I love behind the scenes stuff like this so in anticipation in case you missed it on Netflix.
So in the case you know in anticipation of the movie they're doing this great things close by Peaky Leaves and actor he plays Johnny Dogs in the series he's got like a very minor role.
But he's in it and Edith Bowman who's the famous radio TV presenter she's been radio one and two other ones.
They talk about the show and the upcoming film the same name they did the six seasons in a movie thinks they have six seasons here.
It's three thirty minute up and so far with a couple more few more coming before it airs and they get through it airs.
They talk about the series authenticity with interviews from cast members creators, costumers you know things like that based on the real life people.
And like there was sort of I sure was proven but like when they wore those sort of flat caps and it was said they would put raises in the caps blades so they could like slice their poem.
I think it's just a myth that they think that didn't really exist at the time where they could those type of razors existed.
It just came part of the mythology of the gang.
But yeah loosely based on real life people but yeah this is a really fascinating behind the scenes of this series in the movie so.
If you're Peaky Blinders fan definitely check it out.
