Episode 217: RC Fest, Ring of Fire Redemption, and Piper Takes the Mic

Plus one plus somebody else hold on just one second. I'm trying to check something on here because okay, Tom, you got sounded weird just for a second there. Oh my apologies. You sound like this. My Apollo, geez. We're recording right? Yes, Piper. We are recording. So my daughter, sir, today she is going to talk a little bit about the RC Fest event that we went to last weekend. She was kind of excited about it and she wanted to come on and talk about it. And now I'm nervous to help.

Hi, let's let's yeah. So, RC Fest. RC Fest was fun, but we'll get to that in a little bit. First off, I want to talk about what you, Tommy and Dave, right? Did while I was gone. Yeah, so I got lucky and I got a week away from here and was able to go home for a visit, which was really nice. And while I was home, I went to the state fair a couple of times, saw you at the state fair. That was awesome. And then I got to fly with Dave. Yay. I wasn't there. Dave was gracious enough to allow me to fly pretty much every single one of his nightflares, which I greatly appreciated and really needed to be honest. Yeah. Yeah. It was really nice to be out there that night. Weather was good. Yeah,

2:02the weather was great. Company was great. What, what are you saying there, Dave? Ron went there. That's hurtful. It was saying it without saying it. But he did say it. Oh, yes, he did. So, wait, tell me, what you guys fight? What'd you do? Oh, gosh, Dave let me fly his, may have pretty much let me fly everything is old tricks, the McTwist, the shadow seeker. Watch the action. I don't think I flew the shadow seeker. Yeah, I don't think he did. Yeah, but the the piaje, I got to fly that and man, let me tell you, I know Dave has talked about it before, but that little piaje is very nice, very nice. I'm going to have to look like so nice. I'm actually thinking about buying one myself eventually. Yeah, I can't believe I stumbled into that thing at a swap meeting. Somebody didn't want it. You know, it's just amazing flying airplane. Do they still make them? Yeah. Oh, really? Still buying. Yeah. And they're cheap. Yeah. Was it for a while? Motion RC? Yeah, yeah, motion has. Yeah, for like, I forget exactly the

3:05price, but it's very, very reasonable. So, I'm going to get one of those and then the other patternish plane. You let me fly Dave. What was that? Yeah, the yak 55 from not the RA course, the other one. Yeah, oh, so I'm just slipping my mind. It's the dancing wing hobby one. Dancing wings, that's it. Also a good flying airplane, but I got to tell you that piaje like night and day difference. Yeah, the weight difference. The piaje is so light versus the much heavier yak. Pretty sure you could fly that piaje in a gym. Oh, yeah, we talked about it while we were flying it and like, absolutely could fly that in a gym and be aerobatic with it. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, not so much. Now, the yet that yeah, because the one that's got the actual the wings are oh my god, my mind went blind. It's an airfoiled wing. Yeah, okay. Yeah, that's the one I had to change the service and to make it flyable. Right. Because the stock ones

4:08were not cutting the job. Yeah, it was me. I'm sorry, but all in all, it was a great evening and I thanks again, Dave, for letting me fly all the time. Anytime. Anytime. It feels like I'm missing one, though. What else do we have out there? We had the piaje, the yak, the all tricks, the twist, the twist. And then you see the shadow sticker. And actually, you know, be awesome if you did like a how-to on that we put it on the website or something because that strobe looks really, really good. I can do that, but there already technically is a how-to on the internet. I can find a link for it for everybody to watch the video that I copied, but you can just do your own that way we can all

5:12watch Dave doing it. Okay. Yeah. And then watch Dave cuss when he makes a mistake and burns himself. Watch me do board work. I suck at board work. Yeah. So anyway, it was a great evening. And like I said, I'm really thankful Dave for you let me flyers stuff because it was, you know, not not a in the cards for me to transport an airplane home just to fly it for you. Yeah, all your support equipment. Exactly. Yeah. Yeah. I like how to fly my stuff. I actually get to watch it. I mean, I hope you watch this. I was going to say, I hope you watch it when you're flying it. Don't elaborate. Okay. You're flying it. You're flying it. You're watching it to fly it, but you can't relax and enjoy the site. Right. You can't take in the beauty of it as much. Right. Yeah. It's like it's a different perspective too, because like when you're flying it, you kind of know what's coming. Well, I hope you know what's coming because you're flying it. Like if you're watching somebody else fly, you don't know what's coming next. So they could do something really cool and be like, oh, I didn't know my airplane could do that. Yeah, you did some really nice rolling circles with

6:12the Piage. I really liked that. Yeah, I got to get one. It makes me feel like I suck, but yeah. I get about halfway there and then things go haywire. I get upside down and I go, oh, they weren't beautiful, but that airplane makes it makes it easy though. Oh, it does. It just, you know, like I am horrible at hovering, but man, that airplane will just let you just hang it on this prop with no problems. Don't even think about it. Nice. Yeah. Big fan. I'm a big fan. Did you have a question, Piper? He said, you raised your hand. Which one was it? Which one was what? Get up. I had two questions. I don't know what either of them were. One was if you do, if you like copy a video and post it on like your own website, is that copyright? He's actually a really good question. 7:18it sounded like day's voice was outside. Yeah. Sometimes this kind of changes your voice and makes it sound a little bit weird because you're not used to hearing people and headphones when you're standing right next to them. Yeah. And that's okay. And I'm so scared. Don't be scared. Anyway, you're doing this. I'm going to find so far. We're going to talk about your stuff pretty soon. And then you won't be scared at all. More structure out there than you do here. I know. Yeah. So, yeah. So where I'm at, it's a, it's a larger area. So there's more stuff to choose from. So

8:22Facebook Marketplace is really kind of the bane of my existence. Well, you're, because I have a lot of time on the, I think I say your board half the time. There's nothing around to do. So you shop. Yeah. So, uh, so yeah, I found a, it's a seven by 12, uh, with a V-nose. And I call it a drop V-nose because it, it goes to a V, but it also kind of slopes down at the top. If that makes it a top. Yep. Yeah. Uh, which I like because, uh, I don't, you know, know how well my car is going to haul, you know, a trailer, which actually I know now it, holes it just fine. Anyway. Uh, and it's a tandem axle, which is hard. I don't want to say hard, but it's, it's unusual to find a 12 foot trailer with tandem axles. Yeah. That's small with a tandem is really an odd ball. So, yeah. But when you buy them and have them built, you can have them build however, by the way. Well, that's, and that's, uh, so this is an older one. It's a 2001. Um, I forget the brand. Well, actually it's a RANCE, R-A-N-C-E, I think. Uh, but the guy that bought it actually ordered it

9:25custom and he had the door installed on the drivers or the left side, which is different. I don't like that actually. So European trailer. Yeah. Yeah. I don't mind it actually. Uh, could you just get out of the car and there's the door? It's, it's, uh, it's convenient. So what's going to be nice, though, honestly, is when we both go places and have to park next to each other to have the doors facing each other that way. Oh, that would be cool. We could even put something like above it. And then we could have like a awning between the two of them. Yeah. Or we could hop. Sure. If you're going to talk, talk in here. Remember. Oh, yeah. Hopped from one trailer to the next. Yeah. Yeah. Like, I see what you're saying. Dave will, Dave will do that too. Yeah. It would be so funny imagining that even. Yeah. We'll go in my world. But yeah, I'm really excited. Like I said, it's a tandem axle has lightweight axles that does not have the 3,500 pound axles has 2,200 pound axles. So they're torsion. Oh, those are nice though.

10:28It really does. Right. Really. Like I hooked it up to my to my X5 and like, I barely knew it was back there except looking in the mirror. That's all you can see. But yeah. And I was I was a little worried about the extra width because I know Ron, you had mentioned that you like yours because you can see around it in the mirrors. And that is a slight concern I have. So I'm thinking I may go with like a wireless backup camera that I can use, you know, like kind of as a review mirror kind of the thing. Yeah. The other thing you could do is just get the mirror extensions for your side mirrors for towing too. But that's not my didn't want to have to do. That's why I yeah, that's why I went with the width I went with. I mean. But but the price was right. I didn't have to pay new trailer price, which for an older trailer, which I was you know, everything I buy requires work and I'm okay with that. Yeah, but this doesn't require that much. That's going to say it's in good shape and it's set up well so far. It should have no corrosion. Correct. Nope. There's there's zero corrosion. Funny story though.

11:30Funny story. Like there's a sticker on the side of the trailer from the dealer that it was bought from. And it was bought from a dealer in Morris, Illinois. So just down the road. Yeah. So somehow this trailer was ordered custom in Illinois and somehow ended up here where I'm at. And now it's going to end up back in Illinois, which is kind of funny, I think. It's up many of my world. I'm back. Yeah. But yeah, it's going to be it's going to be it's going to be cool. It's not going to be as well. You want it? Yeah, it's not going to be as bougie as Ron's trailer, but it does have air conditioning. There's an air conditioning unit already on the on the roof. So what you think is worth about what you paid for it. You're in pretty good shape. You're you're in good shape. I think so too. Next you'll be buying a generator. I mean, maybe I think I'm carrying with you and a fan as a necessity. Yeah, like fans kind of a necessity. I'll be getting a fan for sure. But yeah, generators not outside the Rommel possibility. And I don't

12:31know if I'm going to go with the battery inverter setup. Like what you have, I don't know. I'll think about that. But you have time in the meantime. Yeah, at least in the meantime, I have a good usable trailer that I can use right now. Absolutely. Which you're probably going to need. I have a feeling that that was probably one of the reasons you bought it. I mean, yeah, I have bought a lot of stuff since I've been here. And I may need that trailer to get some of that stuff home. Yes. I mean, that's got to that's got to make it easier to help you sleep at night knowing you're not worried about the constraints of trying to get everything in the back of one. Right. So what questions do you have, Piper? She passed me a note. Oh, okay. That's what that was. Yeah, talk into it. What's your question? What's corrosion? You are. So remember to talk right into this. 13:32Do you want you can take that on since you talked about? Yeah, Piper. So corrosion is basically a fancy word for rust. Do you know what that is? Yes. Same thing. It's just a fancier word for rust as all it is. Why do we have to use fancy words or normal understandings for kids? Well, because that's how your dad likes to talk. Well, and let's be honest. So rust comes from iron. Well, right. And yours is an aluminum trailer. There is light. And so mostly, right? So it is corrosion. It's not necessarily rust. Rust is what happens on iron. So it's corrosion is what happens on other metals too. So it's way different and not basically rust, but yes, actually, rust is corrosion. Rust is a type of corrosion. Yes. I think talking about this is making me even more confused. Okay. Well, then we will move on. We'll discuss this later. Yes. Yeah, we can google it later. And if if you use Google for depend on our lives. Yes. Yes.

14:34Google can be wrong. Well, everything can be wrong. Unfortunately. If you have questions like that while we're talking, just wait till somebody's at the end of a sentence and interject. There is a there's a craftsman tool bench and a couple of craftsman cabinets in it that I plan on removing. Okay. And then I'll put the rack system and all that kind of stuff because I don't need a workbench in there. If you figure it out

15:34with the with track you're going to do. It's going to be the extract like like what you have. Are you going to do the black one? Yeah. See? Look at you go. I like the looks of the black and I'm going to probably end up painting the walls instead of putting the paneling on because there's already some kind of paneling on it. I'll just paint it white, you know, for the light. And then and then y'all put the black tracks system on top of that. See? 16:38topic, but that's okay. Like we can I mention what you did to me at the top of your stairwell last time I were there. I don't remember what I did. Oh yeah, you do. I do. Now we don't have to talk about that. That's okay. No, what did you do? Seriously? I'm going to make you say that. I'm not going to say it. Tell me he's going to spend the yarn until the tail. Well, it's not much of a tail other than Ron trapped me at the top of his stairs in a fog of stench that I had never experienced before in my lifetime. Wait, I remember that I had to smell it for a long time too. Yeah, I could taste it. It was. Yeah, it was so bad. I followed five minutes later and it hit me in the face. It hit me in the face. It had some lingering capabilities. I will tell you that right now. Definitely had some I need to see it. Don't. Yeah, are you eating? Oh, anyway, I don't think I don't think you ate that. I think it crawled up and you had died. I think is what that was. I had to come out somehow.

17:40Burnt it out. So Dave, you finished Reggie's hairplane. Yeah, I did. Yeah, he got picked up. Ultimate. Yeah, now he gave me a. He flight ultimate. 300. I don't know what it was. Anyway, he flight ultimate. He had some odd 90s covering on it. It was very almost like Mike a film is very, very light and clear. Was it brittle? It was brittle and it had like no adhesion to it. I tried to like tack it back down with an iron and it just went stick. So I end up stripping the wings and recovering them with a China coat. I can't remember which brand it is. I use value cover. Value cover. Yeah. That stuff works really well. It does tear a little bit easier than like Monaco. That's the only thing I've noticed. So if you get like a little Nick in it and you put any pressure on it, it really tears quite easily. Other than that, it works almost exactly like Ultra Coat. I really like it.

18:45Yeah, I'm happy with how I've heard how that's covered before. And it's a good price. And the price is excellent for a really large role for less money. Yeah. There's no paper roll in it. So there's no throw away. Yeah, it's great. It's nice and compact when it's rolled up. Yeah, the stuff I've used, it feels like the best compromise of both Ultra Coat and Monacoat. It's like the best of both. Yeah. So yeah, about that. So I really like that stuff and got it nice and covered. It looks good. And the white is much brighter than the white that was. I did not read a cover of the fuselage. So fuselage is a dollar white than this stuff, but I think it looks okay. It probably won't last long anyways, but it doesn't matter. It's got a couple other issues with the fuselage that I just kind of like patched up. Yeah. And if he flies it and likes it and wants it redone, I was just I had a fair amount of time involved in it. I'm sure. And I'm trying to keep his price down a little bit for him.

19:45So I got it flyable. If he flies it likes it and wants to proceed, then we can finish. Yeah, do it right. Tricking out the fuselage. Yeah. But if it comes back to you in a hundred pieces, you're not going to have to worry about it. And yeah, it's the moot point. So we'll see how that goes. I was glad to get that out of my shop, though, because it takes up a bit. It's small, but it takes up a lot of room. Yeah. Well, that's the wings. I was going to say that's the problem with the biplane. Yeah, but they're so pretty. And I thought the beaver was a pain in the butt to put together. This thing is really bad to put together. So yeah, that that beaver was troublesome. Yeah. Troubles with beavers. Yeah, bad beaver. A lot of work. It's still pretty gathering. Got it sitting on the bed. So it's a one piece now. It's one piece. Yeah. I don't blame him. I should have seen the wiring, the mess of wiring he was trying to deal with. Yeah, you got Aeron's flaps and lights all from two different directions going into a tiny

20:49little space. Yeah, yeah, not worth it. But it did look good flying in the dusk. I'm just saying, yeah, I really did. I was quite happy with it. Yeah, very nice. Sorry. It's okay. We're moving on. That's all I've got. I really haven't got much done this last couple weeks. So so my my nitro airplane, I think after that we last recorded, we figured out what it probably is. Yeah, without too much doubt. Yeah, 90% sure. That's cool. It's not for me. A Falcon 56. So the the thing that you guys figured out was that there's no wing tips on it. Right. It's just got flat plate wing tips instead of the car wing tips, which makes a difference in the wing span and converted it to a tail dragger. Yeah, and it's been converted to a tail dragger and there's no canopy on it. So it is just kind of plain, but we'll see. I did get I did get what you did there. Plane. Oh, that was completely not planned. Oh, that was amazing. See,

21:54and I gave you credit for it though. Yeah, I said it's kind of plain and it's an airplane. Yeah, I'm kind of just so now because I'm so confused. I have no. I'm going to talk in here even when you're confused. I'm just like I'm just don't doubt because I'm so confused because I have no idea about airplanes. Yeah, she's still confused about corrosion. Yeah, but remember you wanted this. You asked. Okay, before I knew it was going to be so confusing. Okay, I'm lost in my own society. We'll get you into it here when we talk about stuff shortly. Okay, yep, we'll get that. So just behave. So in your element before you know it, I did do a little bit of work on it. Long story short, I put a AR637 in it. What's that? It's the receiver. That is a spectrum receiver now has the AS3X on it. What's the stability control so that if the wind takes a little bit, it kind of evens it out for me. Okay, if I don't stop asking questions, we're going to be doing this for way over two hours.

22:59Well, we're not you have a bedtime coming up. Actually, I have a bedtime that was about seven minutes ago. So I don't like that. So I don't know. I'm not surprised. So anyway, but a new receiver in it and also did the refreshed battery pack, the 5 cell and I am H. So we're going back to NIMH batteries. Oh, just remember, yeah, we didn't talk about our trip to Brian's while I was old. Yeah, we did. That was a lot of episode. That was the limit. Yeah, oh, I guess we did. Okay, oh, that's right. Now I remember. Yeah, because I bought a stick. Yeah, wait, why? He was. Oh, yeah, so it's your stick. You did. Yeah. And anyway, you didn't, you know, you can talk about what you did on that too here shortly. Yeah, I forgot all about that. Wow. Anyway, so I checked the controls and servos and all that kind of stuff. It's a can be something or another out and remember what, but anyway, so as I was installing all the new electronics and stuff and and had the battery powered up and and doing all that, Piper started messing around with

23:59controls on the on the stick or on the transmitter. Normally, I would have said, hey, let's not do that because, you know, let's not do that. But then I thought, you know, there's no reason not to let her just mess around with that for several minutes. It's a good test on these servos that I have no clue how old they are or how good they are. See, it's over here glitch out exactly. So she sat there and played with them for a little while while I was doing other things and knock on wood so far, they seem to be okay. So I think we'll we'll fly with them and then hopefully not crash with them. That should be fine. I knocked on wood. You said not to say not to me. I don't remember saying, but okay, God, not all the time. One knock is good. But why not three knocks? Okay, now three knocks is fine, but not 19. I had a 10. I only didn't know I'm 10. I was not 19. You are right. She's very factual, by the way. She she isn't a numbers girl. Anyway, so Dave was going to bring us a fuel pump for me

25:05because that's one thing I haven't bought yet, but he pretty much just told me he couldn't find it because he didn't want to let me borrow one. Possibly, I either gave it to Daniel or I sold it. Yeah, and that's and there's a couple in my basement. Laurie will be happy to help you find him. Well, I might I just need to buy my own. I think that's the only thing I'm missing at this point because I had to buy the glow driver. I had to buy everything else for Nitro that I literally threw away less than a year ago. But anyway, so I still have to go through that. This whole next week and all that is just ridiculously busy with stuff every night. So I don't know if I'll have time to fly this before the vintage flying. If not, then I guess I'm not going to fly it there, but if so, I will and we will just kind of see how all that goes. Yeah, this week's this next week's going to be so crazy. Like cray, cray. I know. So that's all on that. Now, would you want to talk about RC Fest? Yes.

26:08I love how she's so excited about it. I know. Well, okay, so here's the thing and this year was a little bit different. So they didn't do RC Fest last year when we were talking about or when I found out it was going to be on again this year and we were getting kind of closer to it, I was told to ask them whether or not there was going to be a jump house. And that was at Piper's request. And then I was told to ask them what food vendors and food trucks are going to be there at crystals request. So we know we know what they found to be important at RC Fest. Yes. Ironically enough though, Piper didn't even want to do the bounce house when we were there because she was too excited for other stuff. Can I talk about what I got now? Well, you're kind of leading it to that. That's the point. I know we build up to it so that you can look to it. Then do it. So let's talk a little bit about the event first. Just to make it more difficult days. It's like

27:08he's pushed his microphone away. He's he knows. Oh God. The earrings come off. He's he's picking up a plane. He's starting to go. What is that? Well, that one like that before was. I bet I didn't see it. Anyway, well, he's finding more things I have to do on that Falcon 56 before. He's finding more problems. Before you fly it. Yeah. Before I fly it. Thanks, Dave. No, anyway, so RC Fest was back this year. They had a lot of stuff going on some try me courses and all that kind of stuff set up that Piper did. What try me? Did you do a kid? So I did. Don't just call me kid. That's my first girl of all things. Okay, child. What did you do? Nope. We're moving on. What did you do? But so the try me that I did at RC Fest were so there was like this NASCAR race one.

28:09Well, it doesn't necessarily race, but I don't know why I said that. But you're okay. You did the NASCAR cars. The try me there. There was like a time just like a random time. Yeah, like we like they weren't doing it. So we were going to go get our NASCAR car and turns out we got it from the very long walk. We came back. They were doing it again. We had to do the very long walk again to put it away. Yeah. So they had the try me track set up. They were doing the try me stuff. And then we went into the hobby shop. We know there was nobody on there. So I asked one of the guys that I said, Hey, we have our own Queen Tiscoe grab it and run it on there. He's like, yeah, that's fine. He said they're trying to figure out they're going to do the try me zone again. He said they might start up in a little while, but they haven't got it all figured out yet. So we went and grabbed the car and it wasn't a terribly long walk. But I mean, it was probably 400 feet, maybe something like

29:11that. So we went got it, got the battery put in, got all that stuff ready to go, walked back up. And by the time we got to the try me NASCAR setup they had, they were doing the try me things. Again, it like so we walked back, put it back and then she got mine, put mine back in the car, and then she got mine and did it again. And like I like right now, I don't think it took a long time, but then I'm pretty sure I thought it took like 5000 hours. No, I didn't take that long, but it felt like it took a long time. I was sweating so much out there. Yeah, that's so was hot. It was, it was on the warmer side, but it wasn't extremely hot. Yeah, but like they, I also did, there was like, but like for still like on the NASCAR. Uh-huh. Um, dad said, well, Ron said, I don't know which one to say on here. It's fine. You can say dad, yeah, he's your dad.

30:16Dad said that he was glad that we didn't use ours because at the beginning, like I've never done a NASCAR on such a small track. Well, I've never done a NASCAR, but so, um, I, I crashed into the wall like 5000 times. No. And like not that many, but you know what I mean. I do like I know what you, I'm going to be honest, those cars, probably six times, those cars take a lick and I mean, there were, I mean, like none of the, none of the kids that I saw do it look like they had ever done it before. And they might go three feet and then run right into a wall or turn around, go backwards, run into somebody else. Those cars are built very well, by the way. Yeah, like, but by the end of the day, there were only like two cars. And like at the beginning, there were like more than five. Yeah, I think they started out with six and by the end of the day, I don't know if

31:16they just didn't have enough people charging batteries or, or what, or if maybe they broke, who knows? Yeah, because they looked really rough. Well, yeah. And I don't know, like those obviously are used at other events too. So it's not just RC or RC Fest that they did it. So they take that track, um, to like other places to do stuff. And a lot of times though, it was funny because the other kids didn't quite know how to get to reverse on them. And Piper at least knew how to. Yeah, I did. So every time they would walk up and try and grab the car, she had just enough time to hit the reverse button twice. And so that would like just take off and reverse while they were trying to grab it. That's kind of funny. Yeah, that happened so many times. Only a couple times he actually turned it. But. So, okay, go on. It first I didn't know how. But then I figured it out and like, oh, you have to press twice. Oh, I get it because they're faster cars than you could have really heard someone if you did an accident. Not like exactly. Not like the rock crawlers. Yeah. But yeah, what do you want?

35:19Like the others try me now. No, we're not going to do that yet. So we ended up buying some NASCAR cars. So I already had the, uh, the one for my collection. And then I saw they had some pretty good prices on them. So I asked, uh, some of our friends if they wanted any Tommy wanted one, told me he didn't care which one. So I bought him. I think I bought you the number 22. Do you want me to go check? No, that's the one that you said. Well, I don't know which one's a Ford? Can I please go check? 22 or 24. I don't know NASCAR. So it doesn't matter either. You don't need to check five. It's okay. So anyway, I had picked one of those up for you. And then they actually got cheaper towards the end of the day a little bit. But we are really dragging on. So we'll do that afterwards. What's, we, why can't we make this long? We're not, because you need to do a bit. So it, it, it, or she best I got two cars in. So I got like a five mile per hour or less, like less than five mile per hour. Like really small. So she got the Axial SCX 34 Bronco.

40:40Rock, crawler, crawler, crawler, crawler. And then I also got a 50 plus mile per hour. What? Pink blue. I didn't realize it was 50 plus. It said 35 plus on the box. And to be fair, I handled it well. To be fair. You did, you're doing very good with it. So she bought the, the army or armor Mojave, Grom, BLX 20 or 223 S for anybody that knows what that means. That should tell you something. So out of the box, it's a two cell LIPO and 35 miles an hour. Four wheel drive. She did a pretty good job with now. This does have the, what is it? The DLC or whatever they call them now? It's the, it's the AS 3X for cars. What's AS 3X for cars? Well, we went over AS 3X earlier. It's the same thing as AS 3X for airplanes. So it helps you drive in a straight line if you start kind of getting out of, out of

41:42kilter, like start going sideways that automatically corrects your front wheels for you. Wait, so that's hard because whenever I'm doing it and it's like a turn, I actually stop on the throttle and turn it and it does like a, like, skid. Yes. That is how it usually happens. That's called a fish tail. But anyway, we'll do that later. So anyway, yeah. So on a 2S, it's 35 miles an hour. I didn't realize you can run it on 3S pretty much from stock and it will do 50 plus miles an hour. So she's excited about that. Now we don't have a lot of areas at the house right now to run those. So I did cut grass in a very, just a test. I cut a little square outside as low as the moral would go, which is 1.2 inches. That's still high. No, it's probably not that bad. But anyway, so in some spots, yeah. So we'll have to go out and try those

42:43whenever we have a chance. We need to go to the beach and get five full buckets. No, 57 full buckets. Why are the numbers for me? Always 57. I don't know. But a lot of buckets of sand and then put it there, even though we would get like lots of sand in our eyes and mouth and get it in our poo. So anyway, I ended up buying the army or I keep saying army. I don't know why the mini Creighton 3S BLX. What's the one I got? I mean, I really don't know. I don't know what these are. I know there's a bigger one. It's just the Creighton and this is maybe it's a Creighton. I don't know KRA T-O-N. Creighton? Creighton. I'm showing my stupidity on all these. But anyway, it came with two 3S batteries, which I thought was kind of nice, two 3S 3000 or two thousands. And yeah, I'm happy with the way that I know. Is that like a 10 scale truck or something? It is, no, it's smaller. Oh, okay. It's about the same size footprint as the 16 scale thing Piper got. But

43:50it looks bigger to me for some reason. What's thing? I thought your grommething. I swear it was smaller. I mean, yeah, it was a bit, it was a bit like, what's this called? Wider? No, the other thing. Longer? Yeah, I was a bit longer, but mine was way wider. Yeah. I still think that counts as being it could be. But anyway, so with all of these new purchases and with all the the LRC cars I have had in the past and I guess present with all this. Oh, wait a minute. Before you say it, do I see a new spreadsheet entry? What's a spreadsheet entry? No, not yet. Okay, that's not a half bad idea. What I was going to say though is that I have started a collection of these little SLT2 transmitters that come with every single car you buy. So basically, yeah, I have another one upstairs that goes to my car. I know. So we need to figure out how to keep them with each one

44:57and number them. So we know it's what we need to label. We need to label and be like, okay, so this one is, for example, my 50 mile per hour cars that I got, we could label that and say, Pipeers 50 plus mile per hour colors. So what I would probably do is just like number six and then number six goes with the other one. Or color code. Oh, there you go. Oh, yeah, color code. But mine's you're already color coded. Mine's basically already color. But all the other ones aren't. But anyway, we can talk about that later because we need to get moving along. Piper, I don't want to go too bad. 46:00last 20 minutes. So yeah, well, he got the dad look alone. The other things I picked up and this was, I'm going to say this was the deal of a lifetime. All through some comments on Facebook that worked out pretty good. I ended up with two FMS super scorpions. Is it two or like one and three quarter? Well, there's two airframes. So maybe one and three quarter if you want to call it that whatever. One is completely bind and fly. I did break. Unfortunately, one of the control horns and it needs to be replaced. Oops. But that's okay. Other than that, I mean, it has the receiver and everything in it. So it's I already bounded up to my transmitter and put the gear down, make sure everything worked and have kind of been chomping at the bit to get that one flown. The other one and that one is kind of in rush shape. Like you can tell it's been flown. You can tell it's been

47:01landed a little bit. Yeah, banged up landings were kind of rough on some of them. But that's okay because that's one off line. Not care about really and just be able to have fun with it. So the other one, the second one is pretty much new except there's no power system in it. So there's no motor or ESC. It's I'm sorry, did you say what these were yet? Yeah, FMS super scorpions. Oh, yeah. Okay, good. What you already bought? Yeah, well, it reminds me too, but which is really the same thing. Oh, this is I'm sure V1s because they're older. Yeah, and they weren't new. But there's still going to be fun to fly. And yours is yours is the the oh my god, the camera one success. Yeah, sick, the orange though. Oh, yeah, yeah. So we we have orange. That's what I have to. Yeah, I like that better than the camera. I think you should put the yeah, I think you should put the A-S set up in one of those. I think that'd be a lot of fun. I might

48:02have to think about it. We'll see. We'll see. But they will both fly eventually. I'm sure because those going back to the the swap meet where we saw him in Decatur. Decatur, yeah. I have wanted one for many, many years. So yeah, fate has intervened. And now not only do I have one, I have dose. One of four. Which means two. Yeah. Okay, two airframes, whatever. Only thing was he couldn't find the second wing tube, but he says he knows where it is. He just didn't have a chance to grab it before he left. So he's going to bring it to me at the next meeting next week. So yeah. Okay, so that was our whole that we got at the RC Fest. It was fun. And then we ended the night on what I would say is a high point of a redemption flight through the Ring of Fire. Anybody remembers? Two years ago, I did this. And my first try going through the

49:09Ring of Fire was flying into the Ring and breaking my airplane Ring one Ron zero. Yeah. Yep. And it just I'm glad Dave came back in just to make fun of me. But anyway, it was perfect timing. It beat me. So anyway, this was my redemption time. I was able to go up again. And there's a button. I mean, I don't know how many people, but there was a bunch of us going through it. So if you don't know or don't remember the Ring of Fire from like this setup kind of originated it air meet in Germany. And there's a little bit different. They actually soak rags in some sort of fuel and light the rags on fire, which I didn't realize that. Rc Fest here though uses a trampoline that they found on Facebook Marketplace. And it is plumbed with propane. And then they just light that on fire. And there's a really cool flame throw or amount on the very bottom of it that shoots flames up via a command. I was going to

50:13say via an RC transmitter that they went into the the audience and let some of the kids press to try and take some of the planes out. So I took the slow ultristic there again. And the first pass through there I was I was so nervous because a lot of people around a lot of people know what they're doing compared to me. And it's kind of getting dark, which means your your depth reception is kind of off plus your it's just an odd setup because you're not used to flying through something like that that is literally lit on fire. First time that I went through I almost doing it and had the same ending as last time. Hit the right hand side of the wing on it. And it's spun around did a full 360. And luckily I thought fast enough to just full throttle and it was able to pull away. So did it go through the ring twice then? No, no, no. So it kind of hit it

51:18and then as it went through it just kind of pirouetted around. Oh, okay. And then I was able to like I said save it luckily. So that was the first time then I was able to go through I think two more times nice and successfully. The third time though. I'm going to say this wasn't my fault. I am completely innocent in this one. One of the guys that was there decided that it was easier to start going backwards through it. So he was flying the opposite of the pattern. And we had a mid-air hit on collision in which my fuselage went through the ring of fire. My wing did not. It's funny because I saw a couple different angles of videos that people had taken. I didn't realize how far in front of the ring of fire my airplane was when we hit. But it was a lot closer to us than I thought it was when it happened because you know depth perception all that kind of stuff. But he was flying a night timber and it took him out also. It just kind of sucked and ended the day. But it was a lot of fun. I already ordered replacement parts because let's just say

52:25I knew this was going to happen. I had to get a so that little center wing joiner part, the little plastic one that holds the wing on had to replace that because it tore it off. Had to buy a control link set too because on the I think it was the elevator, the control horn, the little piece that goes through whatever that little you know on the clevis broke off. So got that. And then they were out of course of the propellers and the what's it called the spinner. They didn't have those in stock either. So I've got to get those next month when they're back in in stock. Unfortunately the LED strips and all that stuff were also torn in half off of the wing. Oh no. So I will have to redo those and find out exactly what needs to be repaired because I have not even plugged it in yet since I have been home. But at least I have some of the parts and I do have enough LEDs to fix it based on what ever goes wrong. So we'll get that back up. And then next

53:28year when you're back RC Fest is going on. We will we'll have to all go out. I'm really I'm really glad that the Ring of Fire came back because I was like was it last year of the year before it got in pretty rough shape and they said yeah we're done with the Ring of Fire. Right. And then I'm glad it's back. It wasn't until well actually it was after we recorded last because last I heard the Ring of Fire was not going to happen and then Dustin came through and pretty much did it all on his own. So yeah happy that it happened. Happy that we're able to have fun with it again and I can't wait till next year. Yeah hopefully I get to I get to participate next year too with my oh my very own slow ultra stick that you put that you put lights on too. That's so awesome. I did yeah I should put pictures out there somewhere you should have done a build log on. But that's okay a little too late to think about that. Well that was in a hurry I thought maybe I would get to fly it with Dave but I didn't get it done time and it happened. Yeah. I want to look really cool.

They had that at RC Fest and they're flying it man that's a nice looking airplane looks like it really flies good. I know right. It's 1.3 meters so it's about 51 inch wingspan and it's actually longer than it is wide so it's 57 inch long. Yes honey. P-O-V of Dad. Oh where can I get this plane? Maybe and so anyway 100 plus miles an hour and that I I don't know I can't decide if I want to spend the 529 dollars on it which sucks but man it's nice looking airplane. It sounds good too. It does especially with that five blade prop. Yeah is that a 6s 5,000 setup or that is between 4,000 and 7,000 milliamp hour batteries on yes success so yeah. My

You know because it's been a while since I've been to Toledo. This was one of those Samson RC hobby cap 231s and you know I'm a huge fan of caps. And this is the Matt Chapman Splat scheme. So was it an airplane I was drawn to at the Toledo swap me to bought one there and I put it together and basically did a build review. And that's in the August issue of model aviation.

57:40And I'm really happy with how it turned out. Yeah good. Had a lot of help from from Uron and and Terry helped me out to a lot. So for that I think you guys.
