I am Joshua P. Warren and each week on this show I'll be bringing a brand new.
My blowing content news exercises and weird experiments you can do at home.
And a lot more on this edition of the show.
Reincarnation.
Reincarnation.
I have never talked about this publicly before but throughout most of my life I have had this memory
that I was a soldier fighting in the American Revolutionary War in the 1700s.
I was fighting for the Americans and I have these frightening memories of being in Massachusetts
and some kind of a battle and shooting men until finally I was shot and killed myself.
And obviously I really don't even like thinking about it because it has that kind of an emotional impact on me.
Now why would I feel that way?
As a matter of fact growing up I mean I didn't really even know that much about the American Revolutionary War.
My dad used to talk a lot about the Civil War, the war between the states.
But not so much about the Revolutionary War but I felt that I had this memory.
And it really shocked me when I became an adult and I finally went to Boston for the first time, Boston, Massachusetts.
I went into this old tavern that had a bunch of decours devoted to the Revolution.
And I was sitting at the bar and I looked up and above my head, written on this bar was Jay Warren.
And I can't even express the bolt of electricity that went through me.
I was like what is happening right now?
And for some reason, despite the research that I'd done into the Revolutionary War, I was not familiar with this man named Joseph Warren.
Born 1741, died in battle in 1775.
Says here he was a founding father of the United States, an American physician who was one of the most important figures in the Patriot movement in Boston during the early days of the American Revolution.
Eventually serving as president of the Revolutionary Massachusetts Provincial Congress, they talked a lot about the stuff that he did.
Says he had been commissioned a major general in the Colonies militia shortly before the June 1775 Battle of Bucker Hill.
Rather than exercise his rank, Warren chose to participate in the battle as a private soldier and was killed in combat when British troops stormed the readout atop Breeds Hill.
And says Warren has been memorialized in the naming of many towns, counties, streets and other locations in the United States by statutes and enumerous other ways.
He was 34 when he was killed in battle.
No, I'm not saying that I was Joseph Warren, but that's a heck of a coincidence and it was shocking to me.
And I have wondered if it is possible that I was reincarnated at all or could this be some kind of what they call an inherited memory.
Now this is fascinating stuff right here.
The idea that memories just like jeans might be passed down through the ages.
And again, I'm not saying I was Joseph Warren, but I still feel like I was somehow involved with that, with that incident.
Let's start from scratch here.
What is reincarnation?
All right, reincarnation known as rebirth or trans or trans migration.
You have to excuse me, the allergies are terrible.
I'm in Las Vegas and the dust and the allergies are terrible this time of year.
Reincarnation, also known as rebirth or trans migration, is the philosophical or religious concept that non-material essence of a living being begins a new lifespan in a different physical form or body after biological death.
In most beliefs involving reincarnation, the soul of a human being is immortal and does not disperse after the physical body has perished.
Upon death the soul merely transmigrates into a newborn baby or into an animal to continue its immortality.
The term trans migration means the passing of a soul from one body to another after death.
And of course this is prominent in various religions, Hinduism, to some extent in Buddhism, Sikhism, so on.
Here's what the term means.
The word reincarnation derives from a Latin term that literally means entering the flesh again.
So just to just emphasize it refers to the belief that an aspect of every human being or all living beings in some cultures continues to exist after death.
And that this aspect may be the soul, the mind, the consciousness, or something transcendent which is reborn in an interconnected cycle of existence.
The trans migration belief derives by culture and is envisioned to be in the form of a newly born human being or animal or plant even, or some kind of a spirit of being in some other non-human realm of existence.
Now right off the bat, let me just tell you why that I believe the reincarnation most likely exists.
And it has nothing to do with spiritualism or having a metaphysical or mystical mindset.
It has everything, everything to do with hardcore physical science.
Energy can be neither created nor destroyed, simply conserved, transferred on from one form to another.
That is a, everybody who studies science knows that.
The question becomes does that energy also retain consciousness? That's where the controversy is. I think it does.
That is a personal belief. And of course, maybe a little bit later I'll talk a little bit more about some of the stories related to like the Dalai Lama and whatnot.
But I guess the idea, you know what?
Let me tell you something right now about the Dalai Lama.
A lot of people think that the Dalai Lama is supposed to be the reincarnation of Buddha.
That's not actually what they believe apparently that says here that the Dalai Lama is not considered the reincarnation of the historical Buddha.
Instead, Tibetan Buddhists believe the Dalai Lama is an emanation of, okay, here's a big word for me, folks.
Avalukatesvara.
Avalukatesvara.
That's a good thing I have been drinking.
Let's see, one of the leaders of compassion who vows to be reborn to help humanity is revered as a high-ranking Lama and a spiritual leader.
Have you ever seen the movie Cundoon that Martin Scorsese made?
It's about the life of the current Dalai Lama.
And it starts out with him being this little kid.
And then all these, or a little group of guys go to his house and they're trying to figure out if he is the reincarnation of this figure.
And so what they do is they take out all kinds of objects that used to belong to him.
Or in his past reincarnation, like the old guy who died, I can't remember, he had like some eyeglasses and a walking stick and a book.
And I know there are things that belong to him.
And the kid was able to say like, oh yeah, this is mine, this is mine, this is mine.
And that allowed them to say, okay, this is him, reborn.
And Cundoon, by the way, in the Tibetan culture, it means the presence or presence.
And I was reading about the fact that at some point Carl Sagan, who considered himself a skeptical scientist, he asked the Dalai Lama,
what the Dalai Lama would do if a fundamental tenet of his religion, reincarnation, were definitely disproved by science.
And the Dalai Lama answered quote, if science can disprove reincarnation, Tibetan Buddhism would abandon reincarnation.
But it's going to be mighty hard to disprove reincarnation.
And quote, and Sagan considered claims of memories of past lives to be worthy of research, although he considered it unlikely.
But like I say, energy can be either created or destroyed, simply conserved.
Does that do your, does your consciousness retain some type of form?
We're coming up on a break.
But when we come back, before I get into these examples of people who may literally be reincarnated, I want to spend some time telling you about this idea of inherited memory or genetic memory.
That maybe just like you have genes that were passed down to physical genes that have been passed down to you, maybe your ancestors had memories and those memories got passed down to you as well.
And you think that you were there in that battle or whatever, but you're just, you just have that memory and you weren't actually there.
This is kind of deep when you really start getting into it.

Welcome back to strange things.
On the I heart rate you and coast to coast and in paranormal podcast network I am your host the wizard of weird Joshua P Warren beaming into your wormhole brain from my studio in sensitive Las Vegas Nevada where every day is golden and every night is silver.
Agitato Zue yes it's called the law of conservation of energy energy cannot be created or destroyed it states that the total amount of energy in an isolated system remains constant meaning energy only transforms from one form to another such as chemical energy converting to mechanical energy in a car.
It's so fundamental it's the first law of thermodynamics and applies to all natural processes including the entire universe so if you're a strict scientist that has to give you pause and make you think maybe there is something to this reincarnation thing we know that your energy is is going to be around forever.
The question becomes does it retain some essence of your personality your memories your consciousness and your spirit and all that that's the question and I say why not why not but again that's just an opinion and I think that's sort of one of the reasons I haven't really done a reincarnation show up until now because it really boils down to a lot of opinions and anecdotes and I'm going to get to some of those anecdotes in a minute but.
When I was you know I can't remember if this was my high school biology teacher or my college biology professor when I went to a UNCA my biology professor he was quite renowned he discovered a new frog and South America and named it.
So it might have been him who was talking about this story that supposedly some experiments were done and that some scientists took some flatworms and taught them how to run through a maze.
And then later some other worms ate those flatworms and they were able to go through the maze because they had consumed the worms who knew how to go through the maze reminds you of those cannibals that you've heard about in New Guinea and whatnot that say you know they people say oh they used to eat a warrior so they would inherit the warrior spirit and I was like is that is that true.
I looked it up and it says in the 1950s experiments suggested that cannibalistic flatworms could inherit the maze running memories of other worms but this finding was largely discredited and considered controversial due to potential research flaws however modern research shows worms can pass environmental memories like fear or pathogen avoidance.
To descendants or peers via RNA transfer effectively sharing genetic memory okay so what exactly does that mean it says modern memory modern memory sharing recent studies on these worms see elegans show that worms can transfer memories about dangerous foods to other worms and their descendants lasting up to four generations this is done through RNA transfer.
It also says studies on flatworms have shown that they can regenerate a new brain like if they're decapitated and this new brain retains memories from the original brain and this suggests that memories in these worms might be stored outside the brain in the nervous system.
It goes on to say worms can also pass on long term memories to their offspring through modifications but okay all right there you go that's what the latest science is saying that there's there's something to that and that makes us question just in general what the heck memories are all about
and I was reading this story about a kid in Japan and see if I could find that story I think he was 10 years old yeah
10 year old boy Japanese boy named Joe Nagai and my understanding is that he was really into butterflies
so he got a bunch of caterpillars and basically they were his pets he would play with them all the time he would feed them they loved him
and then they went through their cocoon stage and he wondered if they after they came out of that cocoon if they were going to still kind of remember him
because without going too deep here because this is a podcast I just toss ideas out there and you can look up the details if you want to my I believe what happened is when these caterpillars they get in that cocoon they their whole body kind of liquefies
and then and only turn into a butterfly that come out and he said low and behold that the caterpillars that were his pets would fly and hang out with him all the time
and that therefore they retain their memory through that transformative process and this was he wasn't the only one who who figured this out
there is a there's a scientist Georgetown University professor I'm actually on their website right now commonhome.com.
Georgetown.edu article published 2022 a flutter of memory Georgetown professor explores how insects learn and why it matters
and they're talking about a woman named Dr. Martha Weiss and she also was studying butterflies and these little caterpillars and she said the same thing
I that you know they they can retain this memory but I bring this up because this kid he took it a step further and he he took some of these butterflies and caterpillars and stuff
and he trained them once again to do a maze and he found that their offspring could find the way through the maze as well.
This is called genetic memory or inherited memory and this is no no joke butterfly genetic memory enables behavior such as a monarch migration route or avoidance of specific plants to be inherited across generations despite no direct training
research indicates that larval or even ancestral experiences like sent avoidance could be passed down and influence adult butterfly behavior recent studies even show that memory can survive the metamorphosis process so I was like well well okay how how many other creatures can do this turns out many creatures display genetic memory
notable examples include European robins navigating migration routes for the first time rodents inheriting phobias of scents like aromas you know link to trauma various animals like chickens adapting to environments based on ancestral history I have a whole list of them right here honey bees show genetic memory regarding how to locate food sources evaluate their quality and navigate back to the hive
and it even says here research suggest humans may inherit certain predispositions for fears anxieties or phobias potentially as survival based instincts passed down through generations what's that peak song mom is going to pass down all her fears into you or something like that.
So look the idea of you remembering a past life that was lived by one of your ancestors has some credence it really does have some credibility and you know you always think about you hear stories about like what Mozart for example Mozart he began composing music at the age of five
and his earliest compositions consisted of small pieces and minuetes he composed his first symphony when he was eight years old he composed his first opera at the age of eleven how does a kid do this sort of thing you know these stories
I was looking into some of these cases of like kids compelling cases of kids that may illustrate some kind of evidence of reincarnation for example shanti devi she was born in 1926 died in 1987 she's considered one of the most compelling well documented cases of reincarnation
she was born in Delhi India and she began describing a past life there at age four ended up correctly identifying her husband home and personal details including hidden money leading to formal investigations that confirmed her memories
she told her parents that her name was luke de devi who died in 1925 in mature India just over a year before she was born she provided specific details about her past life including the name of her husband the layout of her house her husband's physical appearance when her husband visited she recognized him immediately and started talking to him and recounting intimate details of their life together
again telling him where she had hidden some money in the home which he later confirmed
they say the case was so widely reported that a government commission was formed in a Swedish author later confirmed the veracity of her claims
James Lenninger a Louisiana toddler born in 1998 had vivid nightmares of being a world war to pilot
he ended up identifying a plane a friend a specific battle leading his parents to the family of James Houston junior a pilot killed over ewa jima
we got to take a break we come back I'm going to tell you more examples of this and then you might say is how do we know if this is true or not
well there's another interesting thing I want to bring up it just reminds me of this that some people are wondering is this real or is this a fraud
and it has to do with all the UFO stuff that's happening so we're going to change pace change gears a little bit here in a minute but I'm Joshua P. Warren
and you're listening to strange things on the iHeart radio and coast to coast am paranormal podcast network and I will be back after these important messages

I'm your host Joshua Pete Warren and this is the show where the unusual becomes usual
I have some books here on reincarnation one of them is a classic they say journey of souls
case studies of life between lives by Michael Newton PhD and apparently the actress Shirley McLean is a big fan of this
she says that this is one of her she is one of the most fascinating books I've ever read
Shirley McLean is 91 years old and she's actually in one of my favorite movies
she's in a couple of my favorite movies that I can think of but she was in a movie called being there
that they filmed at the built more house in Asheville North Carolina in nineteen came out in nineteen seventy nine
I think it was the last major production that Peter Sellers was in talk about a cerebral film they call it a satirical comedy drama
it's it's it's a deep movie if you're into watching deep movies I've talked about it before
she likes this book and the guy who wrote it
let's see I'm looking through it right now he's talk he was a hypnotist I guess and he said you know hypnosis was a good way of
helping people to tap into their experiences and he's talking about this young man who complained of a lifetime of chronic pain on his right side
one of hypnotherapies tools to manage pain is directing subjects to make the pain worse
so they can also learn to lessen the aching and thus acquire control in one of our sessions involving pain intensification
this man used the imagery of being stabbed to recreate his torment searching for the origins of this image
I eventually uncovered his former life as a world war one soldier who was killed by a bayonet in France
and we were able to eliminate the pain altogether
okay that's interesting later on in the book this guy says my subjects tell me the soul migration is quite easy
when they die there is a tunnel effect they experience when leaving earth and that is the portal into the spirit world
all those souls leave their bodies swiftly it seems to me entry into the spirit world is a carefully measured process
and later when we return to earth in another life the root back is described as being more rapid and he's got people there telling him stories about going through these tunnels and such
tunnel out tunnel in I got this other book here return to life extraordinary cases of children who remember past lives by Jim B Tucker MD
and it's just more of these stories I mean whether you believe them or not I mean they're anecdotes it's up to you
let's see he says I know this is a long way from children's past life memories blah blah blah there was a little boy who
relives the exact detail details of the terrible death of a young world war two pilot
and it challenges the mainstream understanding the consciousness is always created by and confined to a physical brain
so a lot of these people they have memories of war or being killed and that includes me
and I guess it's because it's such a dramatic thing I was not in the military so I can't tell you that I've ever been in combat
but I imagine that there's probably nothing that's more intense than being in in the middle of some serious combat
and you remember that it sticks with you when I was a teenager I was working in the B Dalton bookseller bookstore there at the Asheville mall
and one day somebody came in and and bought a book and it was called The Search for Brydie Murphy and I paid attention to it.
Brydie Murphy is a a purported 19th century Irish woman who may US housewife named Virginia Ty I don't know it's about TIGHE how it's just that Ty claimed to be in the past life.
This is woman who was born in Virginia in 1923 and died in 1995 and she claimed that in a past life she was this Irish woman named Brydie Murphy and Brydie Murphy was born in 1798 and died in 1864
and a lot of people have said that researchers think this is the term this is the result of cryptomnesia.
You know what that is? I didn't know I'm going to tell you in a minute though it's interesting but here's the gist of it.
So in 1952 this Colorado businessman and amateur hit in a test put this housewife Virginia again I'm just going to call it Ty I don't know of Weblow Colorado
in a trance that elicited revelations about her past life as a 19th century Irish woman and this hypnotist named Bernstein he used a technique called hypnotic regression
during which the subject is gradually taken back into childhood and then he attempted to take Virginia one step further before birth
and was astonished to find he was listening to Brydie Murphy.
The woman's tale began in 1806 when she was eight years old and living in a house in Cork.
She was the daughter of Duncan Murphy a barrister and his wife Kathleen at the age of 17
and she married barrister Brian McCarthy who she claimed taught at Queen's University Belfast which she moved.
The barrister is a lawyer by the way. She said she told of a fall that calls Bridey's death in 1864 watching her own funeral describing her tombstone
and the state of being in life after death she said it was neither pain nor happiness
and somehow she was reborn in America 59 years later unclear about how this happened born in the Midwest originally
and she had never lived in Ireland did not even speak the slightest hint of an Irish accent.
However Murphy spoke with a heavy broke and used Irish expressions and so basically you know you go looking into this and they say that well
some researchers said that this actually goes back to repress memories from her childhood that she was brought up by a Norwegian uncle in a German Scottish Irish wife
and that her birth parents were partly Irish and she lived across the street from some house in Chicago there
where there was there was some Irish people and she may have heard it Irish broke and that she had used an Irish broke in theater plays as a teenager
and that they think maybe she was having some some memory issues which they blame on cryptomnesia.
So let's get back to that what is that it says cryptomnesia occurs when a forgotten memory returns without it being recognized as such by the subject
who believes it is something new and original. It is a memory bias whereby a person may falsely recall generating a fall and idea, a tune, a name or a joke
and they are not deliberately engaging in plagiarism that are experiencing a memory as if it were a new inspiration.
Well you know I can kind of understand that because as a guy who composes music I sometimes I come up with the piece of music and I'm always worried
this may be something that I heard years ago and it's not original and I'm just you know it's occurring to me and I think it's original because I don't know where it came from.
You know you don't know there are only so many notes in the musical scale so look there are all kinds of weird discussions we can have about this stuff.
I guess the bottom line is like look nobody knows that's why this show is called strange things we don't know I don't have all the answers I believe in reincarnation.
And supposedly according to some religions you know if you you reach finally a certain point where you don't have to reincarnate anymore and that's called Nirvana and I look forward to that.
But to me it really goes back to the law of conservation of energy but there are other people out there who say like look this is all these people who say they've been reincarnated their frauds.
They always say I was Catherine the great or you know I was Alexander the great or I don't know.
What do you believe well I told you what I believe you can take that for what it's worth but it's funny because when you start thinking about people who tell amazing stories and you're trying to figure out whether or not to believe them.
I recently watched this new documentary that came out about Bob Lazar called S4 and Bob Lazar is the guy who came out in the 1990s actually I guess it was more like maybe 1989.
And he went to George NAP here in Las Vegas George NAP of course is an investigative reporter here who also does some hosting on coast to coast to him and he told George NAP that he had worked in Area 51 and he was like the big whistleblower who spilled all the beans on that.
And my wife Lauren and I were I was speaking at a conference in Scottsdale Arizona UFO conference long time ago and Bob Lazar was there and we sat in the audience and we watched George NAP interview Bob Lazar in person about his experiences and Bob Lazar seemed so genuine.
That night was I believe what they they Academy Awards for that night and I said to my wife I go if that guy is making this up he deserves the Academy Award but there's something that's always bothered me about it.
You know it's funny if you go to Grock I went to Grock and I was like is Bob Lazar fraud and Rock says yes and it gives me look I don't know what to believe what one thing that I will tell you.
Is that and this is something this is the one thing that I just okay I want to make sure I'm getting this right Bob Lazar says he has degrees from MIT in Caltech that's my understanding okay if I'm wrong I apologize but it says right here on Google yes Bob Lazar claims to hold master's degrees in physics from MIT.
And in electronics from Caltech however neither university has any record of him attending and investigations found no thesis faculty or fellow students to verify his claims I how do you explain that.
Did the men in black go in and delete this okay we're gonna take a break when we come back I'm gonna play a song for you this is unusual you'll understand why though.

Welcome back to the final segment of this edition of strange things all the I heart radio and coast to coast a m.
Paranormal podcast network I am your host Joshua P. Warren and you know when I just graduated from high school I mean there were lots of pictures of that.
And I went to college and there I'm sure I could find professors that would tell you that I was you know an annoyance because I was always giving them a hard time and students I went to school with.
I don't know how you can go how you can graduate from Caltech and MIT and not have any pictures or people who remember you.
I mean look I am not here to cast aspersions what I will say however is that if I had degrees from MIT and Caltech and people were saying you're no you don't you're lying I would be so ticked off.
I mean that would really I'd be really really mad about that he didn't seem to mind.
Bob was are so I look if he has these degrees and there's no evidence like no pictures and nobody's come forth to say I remember him in class.
It literally is like the men in black have gone in and deleted certain data from the matrix the kind of thing I wrote about in my book called the secret wisdom of cuckoo con.
So I don't know what to believe I really don't S for is a very good movie though you should watch it and I mean like the guy knows what he's talking about I mean I've bought a couple things from him scientific tools and he.
He understands engineering you know the stuff he says makes sense it really does so I don't know I just figured I'd mention that in case you're interested in.
In these Bob was our movies they always kind of gloss over that part like well let's just forget about that let's move on to him working as a scientist that lost all of most because we do have some evidence of that.
Well listen I'm going to do something special on this show I've been talking about my hometown of Asheville North Carolina I brought it up several times and I have had a project in the works for a while for many years I had played music for fun as a hobby and I've decided to create a contest.

Before we are out of time, I'm going to tease you a little bit.
And I'm going to tell you that if you've been listening to me for a long time,
you know that I have this haunted ventriloquist...
You're supposed to call him a ventriloqual figure,
but it's a ventriloquist dummy, okay?
I don't tell Kennedy, I said that.
That's the name of the dummy.
The dummy's name is Kennedy.
It's a haunted ventriloqual doll that I have.
And I have been trying to figure out who made him and where he came from.
And I had a fascinating phone call yesterday.
And I believe I now know where he came from.
And on maybe the next edition of this show,
I will tell you what I have discovered.
Okay, the clock's got us now.
Take a deep breath.
If you can, close your eyes.
Let's all meditate together on the good fortune tongue.
That's it.
