Episode 5: Linda Rosenthal Discusses the New York Adult Survivors Act

Modeled after the Child Victims Act, the New York State legislature passed the Adult Survivors Act in May of 2021. The new law opens a one-year lookback window during which any adult survivors of sexual assault whose case had previously been barred by the statute of limitations can sue their abuser or anyone who enabled their abuse in civil court.

In this episode we sit down with Linda B. Rosenthal, the New York State Assembly sponsor who championed both the Child Victims Act and the Adult Survivors Act in the Assembly. We get into the weeds about the new law, answer some questions from our audience, and discuss the background and history of this law and the fight to pass it.
