Eskom profits up R30.3 billion & SA sugar growers welcome duty hike but say more may be needed

The industry body welcomed the increase but warned it may not go far enough, as subsidised sugar imports have surged more than 70-fold to 124,594 tonnes in the first six months of 2026, while local sugar sales have fallen 35%.
