Evening Update: Futures Soar Pointing To Relief Rally As US Pauses Attack Plans, Delta Airlines Earnings On Deck 4/7/26

I'm Jessica Edinger, CNBC. Wall Street could be poised for a relief rally on Wednesday

when the market opens.

Pakistan asking the US and Iran to continue talking to try to find a solution for peace.

The president said the US is far along with a definitive agreement concerning long-term peace

with Iran. You know, you could call a taco. It's, you know, if that seems to be moving the

chest pieces forward, you're going to get a relief rally.

In trading on Tuesday, though, markets were mixed. The investors have been on edge.

The Dow fell 85 points on Tuesday led lower by shares of Walmart. They were down 3.5 percent.

The S&P 500 index finished the day in the green. Up five points, the NASDAQ up 21 points.

Wednesday trading will likely be headline-driven as well.

Financial advisors say average people should just sit still with their investments and play the

long game. If you're trying to trade these headlines, I mean, good luck to you, right?

So staying the course isn't a pletitude here. It's, it's really mission-critical.

You don't want to be on the wrong side of it.

Bonafide Welts, Doug Bonaparte on CNBC. Apple shares had their worst day in months on Tuesday

on reports it's having foldable iPhone delays. US crude oil hit $116 a barrel Tuesday before

pulling back. Triple A says gas prices went up again Tuesday, $4 and 14 cents for a gallon of

regular on average nationwide. There are some jet fuel supply concerns now.

And airlines have been cutting flights. Delta Airlines is the latest to raise its

bag fees to try to recoup some of the cost of that jet fuel. CNBCs fill a bow.

People look at Delta and they say, look, they are the most profitable of all the airlines.

They historically have done the best job in terms of managing spikes in jet fuel like this.

The company reports it's Q1 results on Wednesday.

Meantime jet fuel prices are now double because of the US war with Iran. Again,

capital's John Kildef says. Delta Airlines owns a refinery and he wants to hear about that.

But Delta, keep in mind, I'll be interested to see how their refinery profitability goes with

all this because the crack spreads through the roof. So they purposely bought that years ago to

be able to be in a position to offset the kind of crisis they're dealing with right now. So

we'll have to see how good that works. This vertical integration of theirs.

Delta Airlines CEO Ed Bastion will be on CNBC television Wednesday morning

when the company reports quarterly results. Used car prices popped to their highest in nearly

three years. Cox Automotive's manheim used vehicle value index tracks prices of used vehicles

that are sold at wholesale auctions. And that data show prices popped more than 6% last month

over the same month last year. Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates will be interviewed about his

ties to Jeffrey Epstein by the House Oversight Committee in June. Commerce Secretary Howard

Lutnik will appear May 6th. On Wednesday's watch list, we do get those earnings from Delta Airlines.

The Fed releases the minutes from its last meeting. Investors will come through those for hints

on the direction of interest rates. The Energy Information Administration will release its annual

energy outlook. We find out how many people applied for mortgages last week and it's one week
