An Amazon cargo plane crash in Miami has left five dead. The plane, a 32-year-old Boeing 767, originated in San Juan, Puerto Rico, before attempting to land at Miami International Airport. Early reports indicate that the pilots landed halfway down the runway and were unable to stop. The plane then traveled around 1300 feet past the end of the runway, exiting airport property and striking multiple vehicles. The National Transportation Safety Board has stated that both pilots, the only souls on board survived the crash. Five individuals on the ground, however, were killed. Five more are critically injured. The full cause of the crash is still under investigation. New Canadian tariffs on roughly $20 billion in American goods took effect today. 3:04This is the latest escalation in a trade war between the two longtime allies, with tariffs hitting U.S. clothing, cheese, and raw materials, and mirroring the tariffs Trump imposed on Canada last month after trade talks collapsed. President Trump is projecting strength on social media, posting on truth social hours after the tariffs, quote, no more selling Bombardier in the United States. He then accused Canada of exploiting U.S. banks and companies and urged consumers to buy American. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has vowed to continue to match any U.S. tariff with his own, signaling no end to the trade war. Employees at the Eiffel Tower went on strike yesterday after two female workers were asked to leave to accommodate a Hindu religious group. Cultural reporter Megan Basham has a story. Around 100 members of the Hindu group known as BAPS

As a result, two female employees were asked to leave, causing uproar among staff and French politicians alike. Paris mayor Emmanuel Gregor responded to the incident, writing, it is not acceptable that such conditions can be tolerated. He added that the employees dissatisfaction is legitimate. The Society de Exploitation de la Tour Eiffel, which operates tours of the Eiffel Tower, confirmed that the group requested no contact with women, but confirmed that, quote, these conditions should not have been accepted. Tower employees walked out following the incident, causing the landmark to close on Monday. New York City mayor Zora and Mamdani said Monday he intends to attend Friday's 25th anniversary 9-11 Remembrance Ceremony at Ground Zero, brushing aside public objections from former mayor Rudy Giuliani and former governor George Pataki,

6:10both of whom have urged him to stay home, speaking ahead of Brooklyn's West Indian American Day Parade, which already saw three stabbings as of Monday morning. Mamdani told reporters that he would use the week to spotlight the families whose loved ones were stolen from them and the first responders who died trying to save others. He would become the first Muslim mayor to attend the city's official ceremony. Giuliani appearing on Newsmax over the weekend said he would be personally offended if Mamdani showed up and accused the mayor of doubting that the attacks constituted terrorism. Pataki has separately said Mamdani should either disavow, quote, extremist views against America in his political orbit or skip the ceremony out of deference to the victim's families. A reporter asked Mamdani about the protest to his attendants and he had this to say. I'm proud to be the mayor of the city. I love this city, I love this country. And what I want this week to be a focus on is on the families whose loved ones were stolen from them 25 years ago in the horrific act of terror of September 11th

The new laws ban Muslim style headscarves for girls 14 and younger. Claudia Bauer, a top Austrian official and member of the Conservative People's Party, described the headscarf as quote, a sign of oppression and a means of controlling girls from the earliest childhood. While just 8% of Austria's population is Muslim, data indicates that around 35% of students at primary schools in Vienna, the country's most popular city are Muslim. The council on American Islamic relations, a radical pro-Islam group based in Washington, D.C. claimed Austria's law was fascist and a, quote, transparently bigoted attack on the Austrian Muslim community.

8:14But Yannick Shetty, a supporter of the ban and member of the Liberal NEO's party, said the proposal is quote, not a measure against a religion, it's a measure to protect the freedom of girls in this country. Jamaica formally petitioned King Charles III on Monday for essentially reparations over the slave trade. Daily Wire Reporters Act Jewel has more. The petition asks the King to refer three legal questions on Britain's historical role in the transatlantic slave trade to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, making it the first time a Commonwealth nation has attempted this route in pursuit of reparations. The petition led by Jamaican Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment, and Sport, Olivia Grange invokes the Judicial Committee Act of 1833. It asks whether the forced transport and enslavement of Africans in Jamaica violated English common law, whether it amounted to a breach of international law and whether Britain bears a legal obligation to provide a remedy. The filing was timed to the anniversary of the 1781 departure of the Zong,

The petition carries the backing of the 23-member Caribbean community, positioning Jamaica as the lead test case for a broader regional reparations campaign, which, if considered seriously, could run up a cost to the tune of billions. And President Trump sparked new controversy after posting a map on truth's social renaming New Mexico, quote, New America. Trump later said the name change had been suggested by others and mocked New Mexico as a long-time, quote, vote-cheating state. The post drew immediate backlash from New Mexico Democrats, including Governor Michelle Luhan Grisham and former Biden interior secretary Deb Holland, who's running for governor. Grisham wrote on X-Quote, New Mexico's name isn't up for debate. It's been ours since before the United States existed. New Mexico joined the United States in 1912, but has not voted Republican for president since George W. Bush carried the state in 2004.
