Farage Vows to Repeal UK's Generational Smoking Ban

On March 24, Nigel Farage, leader of Reform UK, has promised to repeal Labour's upcoming

generational smoking ban if his party wins the next general election.

The policy aims to gradually end legal cigarette sales by barring anyone born after January

1, 2009 from buying tobacco products.

The bill, known as the tobacco and vapes measure, is nearly through parliament after starting

as a conservative idea under Rishi Sunak.

Once law, it would cover cigarettes, herbal smokes, and rolling papers for that younger

group.

Farage calls a plan foolish and overly controlling, pointing out odd enforcement issues

like a 27-year-old being blocked while a, 28-year-old could buy freely in 10 years.

He argues shop owners already struggle with theft and shitting police ages.

He warns it could boost illegal cigarette sales and erode personal freedoms, comparing

it to outdated strict rules from centuries ago.

Farage prefers smarter health campaigns over bans, noting adults like him accept the

risks knowingly.

Meanwhile, New Zealand recently dropped a similar policy after a government change, highlighting

how these measures can shift with elections as the UK.
