This is the All Local from 1010 Wins.
I'm Linda Lopez and here are today's top local stories.
The FDNY says it found Molotov cocktails inside an apartment where they were fighting a fire
this morning. Our Marylyn Buckley has a story she joins us live now from Lower Manhattan.
Well, into what we're seeing right now is members of FDNY's Fire Investigations team
going into this location along with members of the NYPD.
They have closed off what looks like a spa which also next door to what looks like an apartment
building and what we're hearing is that one person was hurt during this fire and when FDNY
was responding that's when they say Molotov cocktails were found inside.
Now right now we can tell that fire investigation team members are going in and out of the building.
They have closed off this area so they can take a full look. This street has reopened.
However, there is caution tape up for this one area that they are closing off as they're
taking a closer look at what exactly is inside. Marylyn Buckley, 1010 Wins on 92, 3 FM back to
Linda. And cops are also on the hunt for a suspect behind over a dozen knife point robberies
across Queens. He struck at least 18 times over the past month in flushing sunny side gardens
and East Elmhurst five incidents happening this past Saturday alone and four of them this past
Tuesday. In each case, the thief rides up on some kind of two-wheeled vehicle like a moped.
He pulls out a knife and then grabs the victim's cash jewelry and other personal property.
In at least one case, the victim ended up in the hospital with a cut to her hand.
The suspect is seen in surveillance video writing what appears to be a moped and carrying a
delivery bag on his back. The investigation is ongoing. As the world cup quickly approaches,
we're expecting to hear from New Jersey Transit officials this hour on ticket prices and service
changes during the eight matches at MetLife Stadium. And J Transit will have special service
before and after each of the eight matches at MetLife. The big question is how much it'll
cost you to get there. It's been a week of back and forth with the athletic reporting tickets
to get there could be over a hundred bucks. Governor Mikey Sheryl says they were left on the
hook to cover that cost. She challenged FIFA to step up and help with a $48 million price tag
for NJ Transit. And J Transit says they will not make regular commuters pay more to cover the cost
of those world cup trips. Macros and Burke 1010 wins on 93 FM. A public pool complex in the Bronx
is about to get a multi-million dollar makeover. The city park department is breaking ground this
morning on a $13 million reconstruction of the half-in-park pool complex. First Deputy Commissioner
Mark Folk tells us about some of the planned reservation renovations. So it includes things like
upgrading all of the infrastructure for the pool, but also modernizing the locker rooms, the
showers, the bathrooms, and also making the building fully ADA or accessible compliant.
City officials say the improvements are aimed at expanding water safety access and improving
heat resiliency for New Yorkers. Mayor Mamzani is talking trash today. He just announced that the
city is rolling out those large empire bins in every burrow. We will deliver at least one fully
containerized community district in every single burrow by the end of next year. And we will
achieve citywide containerization by the end of 2031. This is part of the city's containerization
efforts as you were just hearing him say to keep trash off the streets and make it easier for
the sanitation department to collect garbage. The empire bins were first rolled out under former
mayor Eric Adams and city's data shows that rat sightings have declined in the areas where the
program is already implemented. As thousands of building dormant supers and porters prepared to walk
off the job on Tuesday, both sides are back at the bargaining table today. We're told negotiations
are taking place throughout the day at the Hilton in Midtown. The union authorized a strike earlier
this week, but its president said they'd prefer to reach a fair contract as opposed to going on strike.
They're fighting for better wages and health care, but at last check they're still far apart
from the Realty Advisory Board. The board has said the health care model the union wants isn't
sustainable, especially if a rent freeze happens in rent stabilized buildings. An Amityville man
faces up to 25 years behind bars for allegedly stealing a $1.7 million dollar check that was meant
to help seniors and people with disabilities. Prosecutors say 46-year-old Mark Lindor somehow got
his hands on the U.S. Treasury check that was originally issued to a home care agency. He allegedly
altered the check to list his own company on it and then spent hundreds of thousands of dollars
to bankroll a shopping spree and make transfers to other people's bank accounts. He was
rained yesterday on Grand Larceny charges he pleaded not guilty.
