Before we had AT&T Business Wireless coverage, our delivery GPS wasn't the most reliable.

2:17
Today on the show, I'll analyze the Colorado roster, give you guys the breakdown of who
2:21
you need to know and what you need to know about the buffs, where Arizona must watch out,
2:26
where the wildcats will pounce on the buffs, give the keys to the game and of course my prediction.
2:31
So let's dive right in Arizona's 28 and 2 and Colorado sits at 17 and 13.
2:36
So clearly there's disparity of level.
2:39
But make no mistake, the buffs do have talent and tabboil had coached the buffs has led
2:44
a lot of upsets of unsuspecting teams wandering into boulder and falling victim to a very
2:52
well coached team that has unsuspecting talent.
2:56
Arizona, I want to say this is not like, oh, Arizona's going to lose, that's not that that's
3:02
In fact, I think they will win and I think they should win easily.
3:06
Arizona has been sharp in these type of games in the games that relative to comparison
3:10
of like, oh, it's Kansas, it's Iowa State, it's Houston.
3:13
This is a snooze fest type of game in comparison to those, but the big 12 is different and they're
3:19
Like the buffs may not be at the top of the big 12 and the real matter of the fact is is
3:24
like they belong in the big 12 and that means they're a good basketball team.
3:29
And Arizona, I think it becomes trickier mentally because they've locked up the conference
3:34
and it also adds this element of fun for Colorado of, oh, we're playing a big time game
3:39
with nothing to lose at home, can spoil, play spoiler as well as just have a signature
3:45
So they got nothing to lose.
3:46
I think there is an element of the mental side favors the psychology of basketball favors
3:51
Colorado in this one.
3:53
But there's seven and 10 conference, however, they won three of the last four and is a team
3:57
that when I watch them, I say, okay, they play good basketball, but they're under talented.
4:02
And when I say under talented, I mean it relative to the big 12 and Arizona is over talented,
4:07
meaning that they are the most talented team in the big 12.
4:10
They are the best team in the country by my eyes.
4:13
And Colorado is playing better, but their formula is not one that really gives trouble
4:18
And that stuff matters when you're trying to spring up sets formula of how you win matters
4:25
And they're better on offense than they are in defense by a wide margin.
4:29
Most good teams that score basketball play Arizona and they struggle to score basketball.
4:34
That there's no quits since there.
4:36
Arizona doesn't struggle to score and they score reproducibly inside and Colorado small.
4:42
Like that's the that's the matter of the fact.
4:45
And they're better on offense by a wide margin than they are in defense.
4:50
They have not beaten a good team all year and they play at a lukewarm pace.
4:56
And a big a big 12 good team, I want to put that out.
4:58
So like stylistics are understood by this conference.
5:01
And they play at a low ish tempo that, you know, it doesn't go on either extreme that
5:06
really worries Arizona.
5:08
So to me, Arizona is not going to be troubled by Colorado's analytical profile.
5:12
And my eyes like to match up to their two point heavy meaning that they rely on penetration
5:17
because they're not really like a big team, but they don't shoot it overly well from three.
5:21
They're not bad, but they're not like, wow, they shoot 39% type of team.
5:25
And then the other issue is they don't rebound overly well if you're Colorado.
5:29
You got to have a way to match up with Arizona on the glass if you're not going to shoot
5:33
them out of the gym.
5:34
And most teams try to shoot Arizona to the gym fail.
5:37
And most teams that try to match up wait on wait and try to rebound Arizona also fail.
5:42
But that recipe at least gives you a better chance.
5:45
And defensively, I think this is where the death comes for Colorado.
5:49
Defensively, they do not force turnovers and they don't protect the room.
5:54
And Arizona hasn't really been prone to turnovers anyway.
5:57
But if you don't protect the rim against Arizona, you're in trouble.
6:00
We know that well as Arizona people watching this.
6:03
And I really can't believe this is, you know, the 31st game of the season.
6:07
And you know, I give my prediction at the very start of the year.
6:09
And I thought it was crazy.
6:10
Like if they beat Florida, I think they'll go undefeated in non-conference.
6:13
And you know, have a chance to be 20 and 0, 18 and 2.
6:15
And all that stuff happened.
6:16
But that feels like it was just yesterday.
6:20
And they were 23 and 0.
6:23
And then the doors fell off and it's like, oh, Jesus team, you know, they're out
6:29
Actually, they're better right now than they were when they were 23 and 0.
6:32
And he's not quite back.
6:34
And that leads me to a point in a moment.
6:35
But I'm going to start on Colorado's personal.
6:37
I just wanted to reflect on that because I'm still tripped up that this season's,
6:40
you know, the regular season's wrapping up.
6:42
There's still a lot of basketball to be played for Arizona.
6:44
But it is, it's crazy to think about.
6:46
And it's a great team.
6:47
So I'm cherishing it.
6:48
You guys should cherish it as well.
6:49
They run a lot of their off and speaking Colorado through their point guard,
6:52
Isaiah Johnson, who is very good.
6:58
He scores 17 per game.
6:59
And he dishes out three assists per game as a freshman.
7:02
And that's going to matter in this game.
7:03
I think it's hard for a freshman to physically battle against Arizona.
7:08
And we've seen this very few star players have played well against Arizona.
7:12
AJ has been notoriously inefficient against Arizona as compared to the rest of the conference.
7:17
You've seen PJ Haggerty struggle mode.
7:20
I could go on there and Peterson struggled.
7:23
As we've seen, very few star players have a good day.
7:25
And he's joined by another star guard, you know, star ring guard, I should say, in a
7:29
diminutive guard, though, in Barrington, Hargrist, who leads the team and assists.
7:34
It's worse 14 per game second than the team.
7:36
So the thing about Colorado is they're small and they're and they're slender.
7:41
And those type of teams, you really expect them to double.
7:44
They're going to probably play zone.
7:46
They're probably going to pressure.
7:47
I just don't think they have the heft.
7:50
Because front court has skill, deck and ranchage are both, they're both like solid, slender,
7:57
three, four guys that kind of, when I say three, four, I'm speaking of small forward,
8:02
power forward that score around 12 points, grab six rebounds, but both are more wings than
8:08
And they do plan the wings and they have height.
8:10
But Arizona's got just this strength to them at every position.
8:14
And I have a hard time imagining Colorado is able to compete in a physical match up
8:19
And we've seen Arizona dominate far bigger lineup from the glass.
8:22
And unsurprisingly, I dug into this once I made these notes, unsurprisingly, Colorado
8:27
performs very poorly on the glass.
8:29
They're 14th and rebounds in the conference.
8:31
And if you go into like their defensive rebound rate, it's not very good.
8:35
And their defense is alarmingly poor, particularly in conference play.
8:39
They rank 300 second in defensive rating per basketball reference.
8:43
So in other words, Arizona should feast on the interior and have a super comfortable
8:48
game plan of let's establish the ball.
8:50
And I'm namely, I'm very eager to see what co-opete brings to the table in this one and
8:54
see his level of assertiveness and his, see if his explosion, his legs and his endurance
9:00
I want a very clear cut effort from the Arizona Wildcats to be featuring co-opete as this
9:07
is the last layer of the equation in preparations to make a deep run.
9:11
You need your horses really rep prepped and ready to run.
9:15
And co-opete is a thoroughbred to continue that analogy.
9:20
He's the type of guy who can do spectacular things, limit Joshua Jefferson and all American
9:24
to two to 17 shooting defensively, but they will need a day where they need his offense
9:31
And so far, he's looked solid but unspectacular.
9:33
I want to see a concerted effort to make him feel more comfortable and show off his athletic
9:38
prowess and be physical and do that.
9:40
Well, talk co-opete, the keys to the game, all ahead next on Lockdown Wildcats.
9:45
College basketballs, non-stop big games, tight spreads, momentum swings every single night
9:56
from early tip-offs to late night west coast shootouts.
9:59
There's always action on the board.
10:00
And now Fandals giving you a way to turn that energy into an even bigger potential win
10:04
with college basketball parlay profit boost.
10:08
You can build any college hoops parlay you want with rivalry games and Duke and North
10:12
Carolina this weekend ranked matchups, whatever fits your read, you can mix spreads, totals
10:17
and player props to match.
10:18
I you see the slate playing out.
10:20
And if you're interested Arizona against Colorado's offer there, you can take the money
10:23
line or you can take the spread depending how you feel this game will go.
10:26
Go safe, go bold, ride with whatever team you've been following all season.
10:29
It's your parlay, your style now with more upside held behind it.

10:44
It's tax time, but for a lot of us the old way of doing taxes is a lot trying to book
10:51
That's not the most convenient sitting in a waiting room with a stack of papers, emailing

10:57
But this year you're getting a major update into it, turbo tax is now at now has an in-person

11:51

11:55
So here are the keys to the game.
11:57
Code Pete's going to be involved, but I'll start with team wide ones.
12:00
Arizona should dominate the glass.
12:01
So I'm going to say win the rebounds by 12 or more and likely 15 plus.
12:05
I really think this is going to be a demolition on the glass.
12:08
And Arizona should win this game by 15 or so.
12:11
And therefore the way they do that is get more possessions and get more easy shots.
12:15
So rebounds matter.
12:17
And then I'm going to talk about one I popularized earlier in this season where it was paint
12:22
oriented points pop and I think this is a 60 pop game, meaning that I think Arizona
12:28
is going to live in the paint.
12:29
I just don't think Colorado will be able to keep Arizona the paint unless they commit
12:33
so heavily to doubling.
12:34
And if Arizona handles doubling like they have recently, you'll get Anthony Delor.
12:38
So a couple extra threes buries a couple spot ups, Aristotle's back.
12:42
And I'd also like to see him continue to get his feet wet and get back in the rotation
12:46
and get his minutes going to see look very good in the previous game.
12:49
So unless they double extremely hard, I think Arizona should dominate and score 60 points
12:55
in the paint 60 points in the paint plus free throws made a K pop paint oriented points.
13:00
Now it's good to co and co and needs to be the leading figure in the attack.
13:04
And get his legs specifically into it because against Iowa state, you saw him miss a couple
13:11
He's used to making miss a dunk or instead of dunking it, shoot a layup.
13:16
You saw him miss a couple turn rounds where he's elevation is super key against Kansas.
13:20
You saw his passing and his prowess, his presence on the court really, really impact early.
13:28
But you didn't see him have it throughout the entirety of the game.
13:31
You saw it in like four minutes surges.
13:34
I think it's a game where you play co extended stretches and you say, okay, we want you to
13:39
score 20 points in this game and make the right rates.
13:42
Don't force things, but it's going to be in your hands.
13:44
So here are my keys.
13:46
I want co to have a game where he shoots at least 12 plus times and at least eight times
13:51
And hopefully he gets the free throw line a lot and kind of establishes a rhythm from
13:54
the line where he went for a four in his first game and he missed a couple early.
13:58
And I think that seeing the ball go through is important for guys missed time, but knows
14:02
how valuable he is.
14:04
The last key I'll give as a team wide one would be that make their make their two guards
14:11
Hargris and Johnson isolation scores and not guys that contribute to scoring via their
14:20
Both these guys can score absolutely, but how are they going to score against car chain
14:24
cup against Bradley?
14:25
Like we've seen all Americans really struggle with both those guys.
14:29
We've seen all Americans get into the teeth, the defense, say, oh, you know what?
14:32
I don't want to go in there when Mo crevasses down there and they shoot a mid range where
14:35
everyone when Mo crevasses in the court shoots 32.9% from anything outside five feet on
14:43
Like Arizona's got a very, very clear cut, disciplined game plan of when he's on the court, he is going
14:49
to protect the room.
14:50
He is the Ryan Calc winner of Creighton the past five years of college basketball today.
14:55
He puts his arms up near the basket, tries to avoid foul trouble and makes you change
15:00
He shoots it near him, he'll block it, but his impact is not in the numbers of blocks.
15:04
It's not in the numbers of steals, even though those are good.
15:07
It's in the deterrence of easy shots.
15:10
And so these guys like to get downhill, stay in front of him, make him shoot over the
15:15
length and size of the defense and make them shoot as opposed to helping off the wings
15:20
and giving up open threes.
15:21
That's the only way that I see Colorado hanging around.
15:23
It's a similar formula to what I talked about against Kingston Flemmings.
15:27
It was make Kingston Flemmings be a star and beat Arizona with tough shots.
15:31
He would six to 17 and three of those makes right at the end of the game when Arizona
15:35
was nursing a lead and play prevent defense.
15:39
He's a great player.
15:41
Anderson was inefficient against Arizona.
15:43
He's a great player.
15:44
Jefferson to a 17, AJ struggled mildly, Darren, like those are five guys, probably five
15:49
of the best 10 players in the conference in terms of talent.
15:54
And they just don't score.
15:56
So take away the easy bucket from the ancillary pieces and make the stars be the stars.
16:01
I've said this formula numerous times.
16:03
So maybe I'm not original, you sue me for that.
16:06
But I'll tell you what, it's worked.
16:08
And so Arizona should not deviate from their game plan.
16:11
So if you want numbers to limit those two who combine for about seven assists per game
16:15
to seven assists or fewer and fewer than 30 points between them, which is about what
16:20
If they do not exceed their average, they will not beat Arizona.
16:23
And I'll be curious to see if Arizona can get 30 plus points off of points off of turnovers
16:29
combined with second chance points.
16:31
So we talked about the analytical profile of Colorado a little bit.
16:35
We talked about the analytical profile of the four best teams in college basketball earlier
16:39
If you missed it, check it out as a short video where I talked about there are four teams
16:43
that are better than the rest and they all do the same thing.
16:49
And all of them are top four teams defensively and what they do well defensively is they take
16:52
away the rim and what they do offensively very well, even though they go about it slightly
16:57
All of them rebound the ball very well.
16:59
So what they do is they get more shot chances for themselves Arizona in their case shoots
17:04
a ton of them from point Blake range has this Florida.
17:07
And they get more chances, even if they do make a lot of them, which they do from point
17:11
Blake range, even if they do miss, they get a second chance.
17:14
So the other way to get extra possessions is forced turnovers Arizona is not prolific
17:19
of forcing turnovers, but they do not sacrifice to try to force them.
17:22
They don't overextend.
17:23
They get them by being stout.
17:24
And if they can get points off of turnovers, easy baskets, they're almost unbeatable because
17:30
as they're getting easy baskets, you're having to work so, so hard to try to score against
17:35
And even when you do get back on defense and stop them from getting easy baskets, they
17:39
get second chances.
17:40
So extra possessions leading to points.
17:42
I want to see 30 points from Arizona combined from points off of turnovers and second chance
17:52
And see, I'm not saying just keys to it.
17:54
I'm saying keys to win by the margin at which Arizona can win and maybe should win coming
18:00
I'll give you the way I see this game going, the game script, the matchups I see happening
18:05
as well as of course, my score prediction for the final game of the regular season.

Welcome into the five hour energy flavor draft.
19:37
We're looking at every aspect of the draft till you know, which tasty flavors are the
19:40
best and which might just be the sleepers.
19:42
Sleeper season with Cinderella's heading to March madness.
19:45
So the board is set the flavors are ready.
19:48
It only one is going to take the top spot, but I'll start with my my sleeper that can
19:51
make a deep run five hour energy as a wide variety of flavors, something for everyone.
19:56
And here's the sleeper pick for me.
19:57
It's cotton candy, a delicious world of sugary clouds, a fruity twist, a hint of vanilla,
20:02
the sweet side of the tasty caffeine.
20:03
And back to the top of my draft board, I got to go with berry, big, bold berry flavors,
20:07
slightly sweet with a very fruity flavor, classic mixed berry flavor with notes of raspberry
20:12
Find your new favorite flavor of five hour energy shots available online at fivehourenergy.com
20:26
Welcome back to locked on wild cats leave to lean with you here.
20:29
So my prediction for this game is is that Arizona sees his control and it's a game where
20:36
they come out more sharply than maybe some of us anticipate.
20:40
You may think okay Arizona's got it in the bag, they won the conference, they don't care
20:46
They just want to get out of it healthily.
20:48
All that could be true mentally, like I said, psychology does play a part.
20:53
But what I will tell you is I think that Tommy Lloyd's got this team like like robots ready
20:58
to go for each and every individual game.
21:00
And I see them coming out strongly and dominating on the interior.
21:03
My prediction defensively in terms of matchups is they see Bradley guard Hargrist on the point
21:09
guard who's the better distributor between he and Johnson.
21:11
And then I think you see a matchup of Yvonne and Burry's both chair time on Johnson.
21:16
I think Dak and Ranchitch draw Pete and Yvonne.
21:19
So I'd say mostly Burry's on on Johnson as a and he might see some Bradley in there.
21:25
That's the beauty of Arizona.
21:26
They they're very interchangeable despite, you know, having enormous size.
21:30
That's something that's very rare.
21:32
And then I think Mokrivas cleans up on the interior as a health defender and he will guard
21:38
and dare others to score.
21:41
I see this game as a very intentional Arizona game, meaning it'll be sharp, but won't,
21:46
but it won't be, you know, as instinctive.
21:49
I think it's going to be a we're going to get the ball to co-peat.
21:53
We'll react to how they score, but we want co-peat to Wayne Aristotle getting their buckets
21:58
and their legs under them.
22:00
Because I say that, I think Pete will lead the way for Arizona.
22:03
I haven't said that in a while.
22:04
It feels good to talk about co-oping the leading score of a game.
22:06
I got him scoring 17 points and seven rebounds and ideally a couple assists as well.
22:11
I think that's an element of Pete that we we did not see.
22:15
And now when he comes back, it was clear as day and he only recognized what you lost
22:19
when it's finally back.
22:21
And and co-peat showed up and threw passes to Mokrivas makes the life easier.
22:26
He's a secondary facilitator.
22:28
He can defend against the best of the best.
22:31
And I think he just makes the game easier for everyone.
22:32
So what I think happens is Pete is the focal point of the offense.
22:36
17, seven and five is going to be my prediction.
22:38
And I think he'll make life easy.
22:40
I think Burries is going to have some easy baskets attacking closeouts and getting out
22:45
in transition because he is a blur in transition.
22:48
And I see Johnson for Colorado scoring inefficiently.
22:52
I'll be curious to watch him.
22:54
There's been rumors of who's going to replace Arizona's back where that's a guy that's picked
22:58
up steam and some certain buzz.
23:01
It's an interesting idea.
23:03
I think there's tons of really good guards.
23:04
And so it's worth watching all these guys because who wouldn't want to play for a team
23:07
like Tommy Lloyds and the way that they play egalitarian basketball physical well distributed
23:14
of the ball and also just like very well-rounded basketball.
23:19
You're going to play defense.
23:20
You're going to pass the ball.
23:21
You're going to shoot open shots.
23:22
You can play quickly if you'd like to.
23:23
You can execute if you want to.
23:25
And I think he and Hargrist will probably score around their 30.
23:29
I think it'll be inefficient though.
23:31
And more importantly, it's going to be a ranchage and deck aren't going to take over
23:35
And those are the games in which Colorado has better success when their distribution of
23:38
the two guards leads to success from their wings.
23:41
So with all that said, I've got Arizona winning by 15.
23:44
I've got 84, 69, the final score Arizona going 29 and two in the regular season.
23:51
Let me know your game ball, the score and the game all who's the winning team's best
23:57
So in this case, likely Arizona's best player.
