Flames Fall to Rangers, 4-0

The Calgary Flames fell to the New York Rangers for nothing Tuesday night at Madison Square

Garden.

It was the second straight loss on their road trip for the Flames, who dropped to 25 wins,

32 losses and 7 overtime losses.

Both teams were grinding due back-to-backs with travel, but the Rangers capitalized on a

5 on 3 power play and Flames defensive mistakes too.

Shut them out.

The game stayed close early with even shots in the first period, 9 apiece.

But the Rangers pulled ahead in the second, with quick strikes off bad line changes and

poor coverage, going up 3 nothing.

They added one more late in the third on a 2 on 1 rush, dominating shots 12 to 9 in the

middle frame and 7 to 3 to close it out.

Flames fans are frustrated but see some bright spots.

The team generated chances but couldn't convert, with self-inflicted errors like chasing

pucks proving costly.

Forward Mac Coronado stood out for his shot volume, earning praise as the top performer,

while rookie defenseman Zayn Perrek showed smarts despite, getting physical bumps.

The Flames tested a new 5 man second power play unit with Conorzeri, Macayl Backlin,

Ryan Strom, Victor Olofsen, and Yegor Cherangovich.

Also in the crowd, was top prospect Ethan Wittenbach, the top NCAA score, checking

out his future team.
