The Calgary Flames are making great strides in their rebuild after a flurry of smart trades around the deadline.

They shipped out Rasmus Anderson to Vegas for a first round pick, a second prospect Abram Weebie and defenseman Zach Wyclowd.

Then came Mackenzie Wegar to Utah for three second rounders in 2026, prospect Johnathan Castagna and Ali Mayetti.

Just after, Nazim Kadry went back to Colorado for Victor Olopson, prospect Max Kern, a 2028 first and a 2027 second.

They also grabbed Ryan Strohn from Anaheim for a seventh rounder and swapped for Brennan-Authman.

These moves have beefed up an already strong prospect pool.

Standouts like Madve Gridden and Zayn Perrek are already contributing, while Ethan Widenbach is shining at Quinnipiac and Cole Ressiony is off to A.

Soling, college start. New additions. Weebie, Currin and Castagna bring extra depth, with Currin and Castagna showing big jumps in production this season, despite some, saidbacks.

Draftpicks are another huge win for General Manager Craig Conroy. From past deals like Noah Hannifin and Nikita Zatterov, plus the recent halls, they could have eight selections in the first 70 spots for 20.

26 alone. They own multiple firsts and seconds over the next couple drafts, setting them up far better than teams like the old Edmonton Oilers during their long, rebuild.

The flames also picked up flippable veterans in White Cloud, Strom and Mayetti, all under contract beyond this year.

White Cloud has fit right in on defense. Strom is heating up with points in recent games, and Mayetti provides steady bottom pair play.

These guys could fetch more assets at future deadlines. Overall, with top tier prospects, a stockpile of picks, and trade chips ready to go, the flames lit prime for contention down the road.
