Yes, it is Friday. It is football four, and that means we will be talking with Adam Kaplan, just a couple of minutes here on the sports bash on Nice at the three ESPN.

And one of the reasons why we're gonna get into with Adam and talk about the Eagles first opponents, because we have spent so much time this week here on Nice at the three ESPN, talking about who the Eagles are,

right, who is Jill and Hurst, what is the Eagles offense, the depth chart, there's so many things for Philadelphia that we've talked about this week. But yet we forget that they have an opponent coming up. The part of the football season analysis is who's on the other side of the field? And I think that, you know, I think Washington is going to be easily one of the five teams I am most fascinated to watch this year. Not just because they're in our division, but because the extreme, and I mean extreme, difference between who they were in 2024 to who they were in 2025. And a huge part of Washington's problems last year was injury related. They had a ton of injuries on the offensive line. Jane and Daniel have been multiple injuries last year. They had injuries in defense. The injury bug and the lack of depth

really negatively impacted them. So there's got to be an in between, right, of who is the Washington commanders from who they were as the breakout team in 2024 versus who they became because of injuries in 2025. So I have a ton of questions about this matchup because I'm still a believer in Jane and Daniels. I'm still a believer in who he can be, what he can be. I loved him in college. I was a huge fan of his when he first joined Arizona State. And I was so excited for him when he transferred to LSU because by the time he left Arizona State, the whole program had kind of gone sideways because of the violations from the coaching staff that were deemed by the NCAA and the recruiting violations and the COVID violations and the whole program basically got

went sideways. And so Jane needed to get out of there. He went to LSU, wins the highest men, has a great season because the sicker picked him the draft. And what he did his rookie year was in much in line with what I thought he was capable of. And I thought to the marriage between him and Cliff Kingsbury was a perfect marriage. And that's part of the conversation we were going to have today on football at four with Adam Kaplan on 973 ESPN. It's about who is the Washington commanders for the 2026 season, the Eagles first opponent. Adam Kaplan joins us now for a football at four here on 973 ESPN. Adam, what command are you doing today? Josh, I hope you're doing well. Yeah, it's the week one opponent. In fact, the first injury for both teams comes out of Wednesday afternoon. So here we go, Josh, the season right around the corner. So let's start with who Washington, I talked about Jaden Daniels and who he is, but part of who he is going to be impacted by the fact that Washington, like Philadelphia,

has a new offensive coordinator. It's really interesting. So David Blowdy, Washington commanders, offense coordinators is just 30 years old. He was a sort of like a young journeyman, third string quarterback for the Lions. And he made his decision to get into coaching. And he's really smart. My understanding was had the commander not promoted him, he probably would have joined Ben Johnson in Chicago to replace the offense coordinator, who wasn't calling the places now, calling the place for Baltimore. So Josh, it's going to be interesting. So I expect a little bit of Ben Johnson concepts. Maybe a little bit of Clevkingsbury, because Clevkingsbury was let go. Run some interesting concepts. But when you really look at it, it's going to be a West Coast offense, just like the Eagles is going to be running.

And because no one's really seen what he's going to do because his first time calling plays, there's a little bit of a mystery of what it's going to look like. I'm looking forward to it, Josh, with David Blow here, a 30 year old offense coordinator just in his 30 year coaching. I was with the commanders when they hosted the Dolphins for a joint practice. And I could say, Jane Daniels is a leap that day, he was incredible. And I'm interested to see how this looks because we'll get to it in a second. They have major offensive line concerns. Yeah, exactly. Let me tell you who, first of all, he's the big loss. Torrent triceps tendon a couple of weeks ago. I know Nick Alligrette, I think he missed almost all the training camp because of that calf strain. So you have two important parts of the offensive line on top of the whole situation with, I don't even know what is going on with CM Cosme. Is it an illness? Is it not an illness? Yeah. They got serious issues on the old line because if any of those guys are unavailable,

the death behind them is ain't Philadelphia at them. Yeah, and I didn't get any sense that there's any panic with Cosme, but he's over as ACL injury, which was against the Lions two seasons ago. And he clearly was not himself, but it's healed and just kindly, an absolute stud. Right tackle, and by the way, he was a left tackle at Argonne, but he did a great job last season. So the right tackle with the problem is with tonsil out through at least the entire regular season. Brandon Coleman, who tonsil were placed is going to be the left tackle for now. Now, GG Humphries came in. Humphries a journeyman former first round pick. He's near the end of his career, Josh. He could play right or left tackle. I'm sure they're going to have him be ready at left tackle if need be. And then Allegretti, who's going to move from guard to center, he's been hurt. It's been, by the way, their center position after they cut Tyler Biotis is been a nightmare. So they've got problem starting center going through left tackle and Chris Paul's okay, he's a good run to Fender. He's not a great pass protector.

This is a problem going against, perhaps, the best front seven in the national football league in the Eagles. Absolutely. And bigger Jane Daniels earlier, who he's throwing to, hey, Adam Terry McClore and his Stefan Diggs would be a great tandem about six years ago, right? Yeah. Now, they're the two headliners and the guys behind them, it's a lot of youth and a lot of inexperience. Yeah, and really, Diggs doesn't run all that well anymore. You know, the Patriots cut him. He was going to make too much money anyway. And they made a decision when they signed Romeo Jobs and they knew they were going to trade all off season four. AJ Brown, there was no Stefan Diggs coming back. He is, well, he really should be their third receiver, not number two. But Corners, they're number one, these are X receiver. The Abby Brown, by the way, could run. He's got good size. He signed one year for 10 million and was hurt with a jaguar as they didn't want him back. Now, trade on Burke's to kind of revive this career last season with Washington. When we first come pick with the Titans, he's there as well. And Christian McAfry's young brother Luke McAfry's there. It's, you're right, and Antonio Williams,

who eventually be their lead slot receiver, the very talented receiver, they're runner out of Clemson now. Josh, the one thing I'll add is, Chikid Conquo is going to be there. He's going to be their past catching Tudon. John Bates is there, they're why they're blocking Tudon. A Conquo could run, but not real strong at the point of attack. He was an under-chiever with the Titans. So this is a deep, this is a past game at the Eagles. I know they don't know quite what's coming, because you've got a guy's never called place before. They're going to run a different scheme. But they should not struggle against this passing game. Adam Kaplan for today's football and forward power by the inside of the birds podcast, inside the birds.com, I Kaplan NFL on the X-Plan for talking about who the Eagles opponent is, week one, the Washington commanders, and part of finding out who they are, Adam is on the defensive side of the ball. They have a Brady defensive coordinator with a background for the Vikings to Rante Jones, talk about what this means for Washington. Yeah, they're going to run a 34-front now.

You know, he's going to run someone with Ryan Flores does, but Ryan Flores is so unusual, so unorthodox, the way that he runs his defense. It's hard to copy it, but what the Eagles will have to expect is he unexpected. And obviously they're going to look at Flores' tape and go from there. And they've completely revamped their front seven, Josh. With Funny Stowff the first run pick, with Clay Sino came over from, Chase Sino came over from New England who's a really good talented ed rusher. Adolfo O.A., who's coming off a career season formerly of the Rayans and Chargers. Tim Settles back, he's a journeyman tackle who's been previously with watching he's back. So it's going to look different. They were down on their fifth ed rusher last season. Charles O'Menner, who's a pretty quality backup is there as well. So it's going to look different. I mean, and look, they brought in Leo Sino, who's a very talented linebacker slash ed rusher. And Frankie Lueb who I'm told was going to play

more of an ant rusher this season. This front seven, Josh is going to look totally different than the Eagles of facing recent years of Washington. Now while my look familiar to people is who might be on the field week one, Adam, because former Eagle resueled Douglas is on the commander's roster. And this is an interesting thing. It's Philadelphia with their new offense. They're facing a Washington team that has basically almost no depth at corner. They don't with Trey almost the best corner on injured reserve with the shame. He's really good. He played well before he had the leg injury and then missed the rest of the season. See, this is what's going to have to happen. Either Amiko Robertson is really best at Nickel who did play some outside for Detroit. Mike Sandro still, who was great at the Nickel two years ago, did not play as well outside. One was going to have to play outside. But so Douglas might have to start. He's, look, they got one of Super Bowl nine years ago with the Eagles. He's just turned 31. He's really more of a zone corner. It's going to be tough for him. You're right, Josh. They're just not deep at corner.

Now, I know the Eagles are, look, their passing game might get off to a slow start because it didn't look great in the preseason or really in training camp or inconsistent. But if they can protect, well, you've got to test the secondary, Josh. We'll talk more about this in the football four coming this week, but that's something you'll have to do is try to get after the secondary. Yeah, Adam Kaplan back on Tuesday. After Labor Day weekend here, football four on the sports bash on 97 three ESPN. Alan, great stuff today. Oh, man, thank you.
