I appreciate that.

2:05He's done a great job over 15 years managing the cap and coming out on the good end of many trades. But let's talk about where he struggled recently. I would say I would say as an example, 2025 trade deadline. We need a couple players that we need an offensive center and a top fourish kind of defenseman to put us over the top. Presidents trophy winners. And the Brock Nelson trade falls through. And what do we end up with? Luke Shen and Brandon tan of respect those players. But that was not going to put us over the top in the playoffs that year. So that was a fail in my opinion. And I think last year's off season was a struggle. I don't know. He took some gambles on some veterans and it's hard to get players that come here. But that's the job. And I just think, you know, I'm disappointed that they haven't added like another set of eyes. He's never going to get fired. He's going to get promoted to president of hockey office or something, which is what he deserves. But I just wish they would bring another set of eyes, Jim, as an example, like a shame

3:08don or whoever. It's been the same kind of management group the whole time. So I'm just just wondering your thoughts on that. Anyway, have a great Liberty weekend boys and listen to your answer. Yeah, the man and he thinks about it. You have a great weekend too. You know, that's interesting because over the 10 year here, I've often thought of this and he brings up a great point. So like Brock Nelson falls through. And then a lot of people kept telling me, well, they left $6 million on the table. They could have used it. And I said, yeah, but what if they're like using it to bring in a $4 million player who's playing like a $1 million player and he doesn't get into line up where he's like healthy scratched in the playoffs because of poor player, whatever. Like, and then so and then the other part of he said it is the most difficult job in Winnipeg, but I like what he said there because, but you still it's a job and you still have to get some things done. Would people think differently about Cheval Dayoff if he overpaid on some mistakes because he's actually doing something or would you prefer he kind of like

4:08Brock Nelson's not here. I have $6 million, but this guy's making five and he's playing like two. And I don't even think it'll be in our bottom six. It could be insurance, but just to do it. You know what I mean? Like I wonder if some people, if he was different in the way of what I kind of just said, like just overpay and bring in guys or you need a guy badly enough that he's only worth two picks, but you give two picks in a prospect just to get him here. If people would kind of look at that and then it didn't work out because I would think it would be worse. I would think that, you know, I don't think he left $6 million on the table. I don't think there's anybody out there worth to spend it on. Yeah, no, and I think that's a very fair point. I've been critical. A lot of people do think that he should have spent it no matter what to just bring in somebody and just eat it. Well, and I've been critical of Kevin Cheval Dayoff this week for sure. And, you know, you look at those trades that they made at the deadline with Brandon Tan, evolution, you end up giving up two seconds and a fourth round pick for the two of those players combined. But when you look around the rest of the league and some of the trades that were made at

5:11that trade deadline, like the Brock Nelson one in hindsight would have been nice. It would have been really nice to have him on the team, but no trade protection as well in that deal. That kind of complicated things. And then you kind of look at some of the other trades that were made there. And they were looking for a center, right? Like that was the kind of the big thing that they were looking for. Would you want to give up a 2027 first round pick for Scott Lawton, like the Leafstitch, and then you end up losing out on Vigo Bjork. Like that's the, that's a domino effect that's that play here because I don't think as great of a, or as good of a player and role player as Scott Lawton is, he's not making the jets any, he's not making them a playoff team last season. So you get a blossom on Vigo Bjork. And that's how I kind of look at it. But like, Andy brings up some great points, like maybe there's sometimes where you should overpay, you know who benefited from the Brock Nelson one was the Islanders. If he wanted to come to Winnipeg and said, I'll play in that top six and then go into free agency. No problem, which I don't know why players don't want to do that. I don't know for three months. And at the time with ealers here and stuff like I don't look

6:14at that team, Connor, hellbuck and net and stuff. I don't, I don't get the whole, I don't want to go even as a pending UFA, but I'll go to Colorado. Now it worked out in Colorado, better team, I get all that, but they would not have gotten the prospect from the jets that they got from Colorado. No, like if Brock, calories, okay, I'll go to Winnipeg. The one who benefited from him going, I'm not going to Winnipeg, but I will go to Colorado, then Colorado had to give them their number one prospect as opposed to the jets. And that's a Cal Richie much better prospect. But Andy, and let us know it. It's a free for all Friday, 7868. If you would prefer, he did that and made more mistakes because I think the opposite. I think people would be listening off mistake, mistake, mistake, mistake. And he's, he's got mistakes. Don't get me wrong. And Andy brought up last summer, that was the gamble, right? Like that's when you brought in a, a night quest and three million dollars and it just did not work. I think where his mistake was is kind of what Connor, hellbuck said. We just kept running the same thing out there over and over and over again.

7:15Yeah, and they're doing again. And I remember Kelly Moore and I, right before a pregame show, and I think it was around February, I said, you know, I don't get it, Kelly. Like I'm looking at these moves stats. And some people want Barlow or, or, or, or, or Lambert called up or somebody. But I'm looking at these stats and go, if you're not, because Kelly's covered the HL just as much as more extensively than I have. And I said, if you're not scoring in the A, you're probably not going to score in the NHL. And that's just, and that, you could come up and play with better players and then pot of view. But if you're not feeling it in the A, and historically, and historically, you're, you're going to have a worse time in the NHL. Yeah. And it's faster and everything. And Kelly made the great point at the time. He said, yeah, Jim, but now it's, you know, in February, he goes, you bring up a kit and put them in that room with, with the kind of season they're having. And maybe that's the excitement that this team needs to kind of, hey, remember, look at this kid bouncing around. We're misery right now. We're awful. We're out of the playoffs. We're supposed to be good. This kid's running around like, you know, probably politely, but very excited. And he goes,

8:18I, I would like to see what that room would do. We do. And I said, that's a great point, Kelly, because when was the, when did they play their best game last year up until that point? Nino Nina writer night. They had Washington town, Alex O'Vetchkin. They come out and they score six goals. And I never saw the penalty kill get out of a lane. I never saw guys give up stuff off the rush. They just had their system back. And it was because they kind of, hey, hockey's fun again and stuff and hockey's this. And so Kelly's point and to maybe Andy's point and to a lot of college point, to hella box point by January, February, you should have given some kids a chance and maybe it would have changed the trajectory trajectory of this team. That was probably a GM mistake. Yeah, absolutely. And the one thing I look back on on hindsight's 2020, of course, but the Nickei other situation. And I know it's hard to trade a guy like that at the deadline when you're in a position that the jets were in, but Colorado traded meco-rantan. Right? And then Carolina traded meco-rantan and they end up getting Marty Nietzsche out of it. And so maybe there was a

9:19deal there that could have been done knowing that Nickei Lers is going to be moving on at the end of the season. And you get and you bring in a guy who at least has two more years left on his contract in Marty Nietzsche's. Maybe you can then some to sign there. But and I wanted that down when he was in Carolina and had two years left. And I think they actually went down that road. And and Nate just was the guy who said, no, I'm not. And don't call me on that. That's what I heard. So but who those are the things that and Maverick Bork this summer. Yeah, even Evangelista recently. Yeah. Right? Like that's another young guy. It's a lot to give up. And I don't know. I would just be great to have him on. And you know, what how did you, were you interested in Maverick Bork at all? I know that he's never going to do that. And I get why? Like it's, you're never going to open the curtain. Yeah. But it's hard for me to believe any smart general manager would not be in on that Maverick Bork stuff. Yeah. I've been given this and thought over the last week. And then I remember that he had surgery last fall. Kind of selective surgery or elective surgery

10:24or at least surgery that he picked the tightening of. All to get ready for the Olympics. So when I think of that and the fact that he kind of, you know, put the team's priority secondary to what his own goals were with the Olympics, I really think several day I should just tell him, Connor, we're not trading yet. You don't come to the training camp. That's fine. But you've got a job. You sign a contract. We expect you to honor it and just sit and wait. And unless they get the perfect deal, just make the guy sit and suffer. He's an aging asset. He wants to win a cup. I get that. But his underperformance in the playoffs has been, you know, a big issue in any elimination series. He got outplayed or we got outgolyed by Bitington, by Flurry and by that Colorado goalie who I whose name I can't recall where we were supposed to be by far, the superior team based on goalies. And I just think we need to hold tight and either get what we need from this trade request or just make the guy sit or just make the guy sit at home and

11:26stop making some cash. Derek, I just want to touch on two things there. And I totally understand your point. One thing about Halibut getting the surgery, I mean, he did come back earlier than his initial timeline suggested. So I don't think that he was necessarily getting a done to prepare for the Olympics specifically, but that it was more so a thing that just needed to be cleaned up. The one other thing. Can I just add that to Derek? Like he and I think Scott Arneal said that that like it happened in training camp. And they were like, hey, maybe we shouldn't. He's like, well, no, we got to I want to help the team. Like I want to play. I can play through this. And so he started the season. And then it got to a point where we got to get this fixed like it didn't get better. So I think that's part of the story too. Like it wasn't like he was like, I got to worry about the Olympics were fixing this now. And you guys good luck in the first 20 games of the year. He literally wanted to play through it to help the team get off to a good start. And Derek, just to touch on your point about sitting him. Why? I understand the frustrations with Halibut. The one thing is you don't want to have him sitting out too long and losing.

12:26Because as the season goes on, teams are going to look at Connor Halibut if he's sitting for, say, 10, 15 games to start the season and they're going to go, I don't know if I want to break in a goalie where he hasn't really gotten any training camp and he might be taking shots outside of the ring. But that you don't want to have a goalie sit out too long and then go to a new team or yes, a learn a new system, understand what the players are doing. It gets a little tricky when you get to that point. But I understand what you're saying to Derek. Like and I think that's where they're at. It's we have your trade requests for trying to do it. We have our lineup right now. And if we can add to it by dealing you, we will. But if not, and I think Kevin Chivaldair will always have the door open. Hey, if you've sat for a month and you're you want to get back at it and stuff, you're welcome back here if you want to come back. I don't know how the room feels about that, but I think Kevin would do that in a heartbeat. Yeah. And I think that's the right approach. Like if you get what we need, okay, make the trade happen. Appreciate your comments about the surgery and his injury happening in training camp. Wasn't fully aware of that. But at the end of the day, he signed a contract. He's three years in. Connor, do the

And you know, what kind of key player on a team throws the team under the bus and wants out, you know, the first season they underperformed. Very valid point, Derek. 14:37coaching staff of the moose are not exactly instilling confidence in some of the players for where the Winnipeg jets are now. With the moose not bringing players forward that we thought we're going to be ready and with our Neil following the same path that he's followed in Columbus. Great first season, bad second season. Chuck, that's a very valid point and looking at these past this past season for both Mark Morris and N. Scott, our Neil. Their seats are definitely hot right now and if there is a similar, you know, come December, the team's really struggling and they're sitting outside the playoff line by decent amount, I wouldn't totally be surprised to see a move made. Right? Just because like we mentioned, there's been so much pressure on the jets this offseason in particular. I think Mark Morris and gets the rest of the year to see if they can kind of turn things around. But when you have a team that doesn't have a single point score, get over 40 points, right? And we had Dave Manucon not too long ago and he was saying, now they had Fasimo on the team, one of the more prolific goal scores in the HL. He struggled the score. So

15:42yeah, definitely some very valid concerns. I think you're right, Chuck. And as much pressure, there's on Kevin's level day off and I'm on record. I think this is one of his most important summers and going into the fall. I think the same for the coaching staff at all levels. Like, I really do believe that. Like the messaging is as clear from management that, look, we're going to be a team that's playing a lot of young guys. We might not be writing the playoff hunt for a lot of it, but we're building something here. I think a lot of fans can get behind that. As long as the messaging is clear, right Jim? I disagree. I don't think this community would support a rebuild really. And for everybody who says, I'd go watch young players and blah, blah, blah, blah. Why don't you go to the moose game? And if they trade hella buck and then shy flea and then more sea doesn't come back, that's pretty hard to entice somebody to come pay $200 or $120 to a jet scheme and $14 hot dogs and and stuff. I think this is an eligible fan base. I think

19:57this is a fan base that appreciates national hockey league hockey and skill and talent. I think if they made some deals with San Jose or somebody who brought in some really high-end prospects, that that would be a different story than what you're seeing in the moose right now. But this isn't Philadelphia where if you lose 5,000 regular season tickets, there's another million people you can draw from. And they need corporate support. They had the least amount of corporate support here. And if you're talking about rolling the Chicago Black Hawks out, like they have for the past three to five years now, five years now of no playoffs and Conor Bordard and Frank Naser and all these big names that I like watching, are you going to pay the hot dogs, the beer and the season tickets to watch that for five plus seasons? Well, I don't think you are. Well, the prices would probably have to reflect that change in messaging as well. But I mean, you look at the San Jose sharks though. They got like Maclin, Celebrini, yes, and the jets to get a guy like that. They're probably going to have to draft in the top two or three. But they got a young core. They can see what they're

21:02building. And it's a different situation than Chicago. Chicago really doesn't have a whole lot of whole thing. I have no idea how that Maclin Celebrini sold a ton of tickets last year. How many did he sell in his rookie year? I don't know. I'll tell you how that's 61 points, I think. And I could be wrong. There could be people listening to this radio show saying, I would, I would got, we have that people are like, well, would you buy a ticket to the Black Hawks two years ago or season ticket? I just, I, and here's the other point. I don't think they have to. Like, I think there's a succession planning here that in two years from now, whoever your second line center is, whether it's Jagger or somebody in a hellabuck deal, that, you know, Mark Schifle is your second line center at 35 years old. And you have this 24 year old number one center. I don't, I don't think they have to rebuild. Yeah, unless their hands get tied. Right. They have the contract lengths. And I know people are laughing going, well, hellabuck had five years. But, you know, the key to what you said is more, see, more she wants to stay around here. Those veterans will help sell tickets for the next

22:03two to three years until the next generation comes along and, for Feddy, maybe starts going seven year, whatever. But I just to absolutely go hellabuck's gone, Schifle's gone, Kyle Conner's gone, Josh Morris, he's gone. So as things currently stand right now, there is no Connor Hellebuck trade that's been completed.

26:14Okay. This is a quick question. If he was trading New Jersey, what do you think we would have got from him? Like I don't think Jack Hughes. I think Luke Hughes would have been an arrow. I don't think they would have traded him. But I don't think Luke Hughes is coming here at $9 million. No, I think it's, I, I looked, they just acquired Luke a Van Jelista. Van Jelista, one of the best names. Van Jelista, which tells me that they might part with somebody else in their top six. I think there'd be a D in there. I think there'd be a prospect in one of the, one of the goalies. Dawson Mercer's one of the names that's been floating around for New Jersey. Now that they did acquire Luke of Angeles, they got a really big defensive prospect in Anton Silly of who could be a, yeah, a potential intriguing name. And then they also got Michele Yikorov, who's a really good goalie prospect as well. And that first round pick, if they were already get a first round pick from New Jersey, that could be pretty valuable if it's unprotected. They traded their colorados for, or whoever's first round picked to Nashville for Evangelista. Look, I, I don't know. New Jersey's a fit for sure. Buffalo, Carolina. I'm just Utah has
