Free Plants Giveaway in Leimert Park

Tomorrow in Lemmer Park, the plant Sheikah store is giving away 2,000 plants for free.

It's happening Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 431-1 Degna Boulevard.

Co-founder Sandra Mahia wants everyone to discover how great it feels to care for a

planted home.

Many folks walking in have never owned one before, so this event hooks them right away.

Mahia started the shop back in 2016 near her South L.A. roots, inspired by her Salvadoran

family, who taught her about plants.

People often worry about killing their new green buddy, but staff like Vibe Curator Phillip

Bucknor keep it real.

He matches the right low maintenance plant to your style and says, just chill, don't over

water and feel to vibe.

These giveaways kicked off in her home in 2018 to ClearSpace, but they blew up once

at the shop.

Expect easy starters, like pink princess filadindrons, purple green trades canteas, and

prayer plants that fold leaves like hands and night.

Her dad's even printing care sheets.

As L.A. County turns greener, events like this spread that plant love wide, turning

newbies into advocates for more green spaces indoors and out.
