Ro: În mijlocul unei ierni geroase, Bucureștiul era acoperit cu o pătură albă de zăpadă care scânteia sub lumina palidă a soarelui.
En: In the middle of a frosty winter, București was covered with a white blanket of snow that sparkled under the pale light of the sun.
Ro: Liceul Public București, însă, era viu și plin de energie, coridoarele lui pline de elevi grăbiți să ajungă în clasele lor.
En: The Liceul Public București, however, was lively and full of energy, its corridors filled with students hurrying to reach their classes.
Ro: Printre aceștia se aflau Andrei și Elena.
En: Among them were Andrei and Elena.
Ro: Andrei era un băiat tăcut, adesea văzut cu un carnet de notițe plin de formule complicate.
En: Andrei was a quiet boy, often seen with a notebook full of complicated formulas.
Ro: Mintea sa ascuțită pentru matematică îl făcuse cunoscut printre colegii săi, dar el, deși apreciat, se simțea adesea singur.
En: His sharp mind for mathematics had made him known among his peers, but he, although appreciated, often felt alone.

Ro: Au decis să studieze împreună, iar Elena, chiar dacă nu era la fel de bună la matematică, și-a dat toată silința să îl susțină pe Andrei.
En: They decided to study together, and Elena, even though she was not as good at mathematics, did her best to support Andrei.
Ro: Seara, în sala de lectură a liceului, înconjurați de culegeri și foi de hârtie, Andrei își pierdu cumpătul.
En: In the evening, in the school's reading room, surrounded by collections and sheets of paper, Andrei lost his composure.
Ro: "Mă tem că nu sunt suficient de bun", răbufni el.
En: "I’m afraid I'm not good enough," he burst out.
Ro: Lacrimile se înfiripară în colțul ochilor săi.
En: Tears began to form in the corners of his eyes.
Ro: Elena se apropiă mai mult, îndemnându-l să-și deschidă inima.

En: "I understand your fears," Elena reassured him, "but I believe in you.
