The Victoria Police Chief Commissioner says fugitive Dezi Freeman was armed as he emerged from a shipping container this morning possibly wielding a gun he stole from officers he shot dead last year.
The 56-year-old was killed following a three hour stand off on a rural property in the state's north-east, after seven months on the run.
Freeman became a wanted man after he shot and killed two police officers in Porepunkah last August.
Commissioner Mike Bush says officers intended to find a peaceful resolution, until Freeman emerged with the gun.
The National Road Transport Association says a new fuel security plan announced by the federal government will ensure domestic supply chains remain intact.
The government has halved the fuel excise, reducing the cost of petrol and diesel by about 26 cents a litre for three months.
The heavy road user charge will also be reduced to zero for the same period, taking pressure off truck drivers and transport costs.
US President Donald Trump has told US media he wants to "take the oil" in Iran and that the US could also "take Kharg Island".
In return, Tehran is threatening to retaliate if US forces are deployed for a weeks-long operation in the Middle East.
