This is Nightline, tonight punch the monkey.

He's a celebrity a-lister, the preeminent primate.

He is just so cute.

The most famous monkey on the planet.

Look, I cried for that monkey.

We fly halfway around the world to meet the little macaque, who is bounced back from

bullying.

He's breaking my heart, absolutely breaking my heart.

He made him a global hero.

And asking that question everyone wants to know, punch has a girlfriend?

Plus David behind bars, the singer on the edge of superstardom, with songs like Romantic

Homicide.

Now being held without bail at the center of a gruesome mystery after the body of an

underage teenage, it was found in the trunk of his abandoned Tesla.

What authorities are saying tonight.

And the secret lives of Mormon Wyvestar, Whitney Levitt, going from all that drama.

It's going to be chaos.

So all that jazz, she's very sassy.

I'd say sassy and pulsed.

Reuniting with her dancing with the star's partner Mark Ballas, how she says she handles

her first big Broadway blunder.

Why tonight she says she's calling it quits on her summer tour two months before it's

kicked off.

Tonight, rising music star David, arrested and held without bail, entangled in a dark

mystery that's captured headlines.

The body of a missing teenage girl found in the singer's impounded Tesla, igniting months

of investigation, but no arrests until now.

If you, like me, had no idea who David or D4VD is before this body was found in the trunk

of his car, let me catch you up.

The killer singer, David, arrested in connection to the death of a teenage girl seen in this

footage obtained by the California Post.

This TMZ video capturing the tense moments when LAPD officers made the arrests at his home

in the Hollywood Hills.

Authorities say the body of 14-year-old Celeste Revis Hernandez was discovered late last year,

this membered and severely decomposing in the trunk of an abandoned Tesla registered

to the singer.

Sources connected to the investigation telling ABC News the medical examiner has determined

her death a homicide.

Sources also saying the arrest comes after investigators compiled evidence and probable

cause against the musician, the 21-year-old Houston-born, Alt Pop singer whose full name is David

Anthony Burke.

The platinum-selling artist known for hits like Here With Me and Romantic Homicide, attorneys

for the singer say in a statement the actual evidence in this case will show that David

Burke did not murder Celeste Revis Hernandez and he was not the cause of her death, adding,

we will vigorously defend David's innocence.

Investigators tell ABC Revis Hernandez's family reported her missing in 2024.

Her body was later discovered last September stuffed in the car, neighbors saying the Tesla

had been parked in front of the home for a while before moving to two different places

on the street.

It's a little weird to see a car that I haven't seen here for a long time, had a big

dent on it, had a Texas plate on it.

The vehicle impounded and taken to this tow yard for two days before workers noticed

an odor coming from the front trunk.

There was one real identifying feature that was on the human remains, it was left behind,

and that was a tattoo on the right index finger on the inside that read, shh, David has that

exact same tattoo on his right index finger as do other celebrities.

Rihanna apparently made this popular, this tattoo is not incriminating yet, and the LAPD

doesn't even know if the tattoo will come into play in all of this.

When the news broke, David was nearly 2,000 miles away in Minneapolis on tour.

David went on stage and performed that night and didn't acknowledge anything that happened

and I think that that appeared to be a little bit offsetting for people.

The singer later cancelling the rest of his domestic tour after Revis Hernandez's identity

was released.

It's a fall from grace for the artist whose career was on the rise, last year performing

at Coachella and appearing on late night shows like Cobraire.

His music videos now also under scrutiny, like this scene in his song One More Dance, where

a body is being placed in the trunk of a car.

21-year-old David is now being held without bail.

And of course we'll continue to follow developments in that story, but for now we're going to turn

to a very special story for anyone who's ever felt rejected or picked on.

A tiny Japanese snow monkey named Punch became a global rallying cry.

So we launched a special nightline expedition and traveled to the other side of the globe

to meet the most famous monkey on the planet and witness for ourselves how the little macaque

has charmed the world with his pluck and resilience and to get to the bottom of those

rumors about his love life.

He's the unlikely hero we didn't know we needed. Punch the monkey abandoned at birth,

bullied by his troop, with just a stuffed orangutan as his companion.

The entire world seemed to embrace him. He is just so cute. I just want everything good in

life for him. Visitors to this tiny Japanese zoo jumped from 300 to 3,000 a day.

We are from Monterey, Mexico, from Australia, from Calgary, Canada.

People connecting deeply with his plate, like Polina from Russia.

I feel like we have the same vibe with Punch. What's the vibe?

Because he was abandoned by his mom, rejected him.

I grew a couple of these in my grandfathers, my mother.

Yeah, it's probably nice.

And it makes you emotional.

Donations pouring in. In one week alone, the zoo saying it received almost $150,000.

Even his caretakers becoming major heartthrobs with marriage proposals and fan clubs galore.

Funny tonight here are persons of the week. We had to choose the team helping punch the monkey.

First of all, we received fan letters from all over the world.

For example, children will draw pictures of punch. You know, things like hang in their punch,

written in various languages from around the world.

We traveled more than 6,000 miles to Ichikawa City Zoo, an hour outside Tokyo,

to get the inside scoop on how the beloved 5-pound punch was fairing.

It all began when punch was born last July during a heat wave,

according to zoo official Takashi Yasunaga.

It was an extremely hot day, and his mom was in a lot of distress.

She was very weak and unable to handle the demands of child wearing.

And so, she wasn't able to raise punch.

Why did you give punch the stuffed monkey?

When Japanese macaques are born, they have a natural instinct to try and cling to something.

The zookeepers were trying to figure out what they could get into grass,

trying out all sorts of different things.

But it turned out that the item newborn punch, like the most,

was that orangutan plushie.

Punch was named after famed Japanese comic artist,

Monkey Punch, and fed by humans for the first six months.

Without a mother to guide the way, he had a hard time re-assimulating.

Punch's struggles going viral after this video showed him violently dragged by another monkey.

He then escapes to the comfort of his stuffed orangutan.

It's just honestly, it's breaking my heart,

absolutely breaking my heart.

Damn, look, you got me in my...

Got me in my fillet!

We just landed yesterday, and this was the first place I wanted to stop and see.

And you guys are from Arizona.

This is a long way to come to see that what major daughters want to see punch do they?

They saw him and they thought he was so sweet and cute and cuddly.

IKEA quickly running out of the orange stuffy after so many bought their own to self-south.

I don't know why this internet monkey has had such an immense emotional, like, reaction for me,

like I cried for that monkey.

Even K-pop phenom Lisa of Black Pink and White Lotus fame posting on her Instagram stories,

how the tables have turned, she's fanning out over Earth's most popular primate.

When I posted about it on Instagram, it really generated a tremendous amount of buzz.

The toy now branded Punches Comfort orangutan is selling out on IKEA over and over again,

but don't worry, Punches supply is well stocked.

Currently, there are two of them.

We rotate them so that one is being washed while the other is being used to make sure that he

has a clean one every day.

Were you surprised when you heard that IKEA sold out of their orangutans?

I was extremely surprised.

Following all the buzz surrounding Punch, IKEA actually reached out to us and sent over some stuffed

animals. They donated more than 30 of them. We are very grateful.

These days, Punches doesn't rely as much on his stuffy.

The orangutan nowhere to be seen when we visited.

Instead, Punches was out socializing, playing with other monkeys, and even being groomed.

He still clings to his caretakers during their twice-daily feedings,

but the rumor mill went rampant that the soon-to-be-nine-month-old might be dating.

And the big news is that Punches has a girlfriend?

I don't know if it's a girlfriend or not, but I think that the number of monkeys

that Punches getting along with is increasing day by day.

He's still a couple years away from adolescence, and gets into skirmishes here and there.

But zoo officials say there is no need for concern.

Whenever there are videos of Punch being disciplined by other monkeys,

the zoo receives a lot of phone calls and emails from all over the world.

That kind of situation might come up sometimes, but overall we're in a good place as a group right now.

The suburban zoo's mission to teach local school kids and others about the smaller end of

the animal kingdom, from lemurs, to prairie dogs, to copy bars.

Munkies, especially snow monkeys, have long been revered in Japanese culture.

So Munkies are incredibly adorable, and here in Japan they have been depicted in paintings

since ancient times. While all the focused now centers around Monkey Mountain,

zoo officials hope all their animals are equally cherished.

Thanks to the donations, the zoo's planning to build more shade to keep the

monkey's cool to prevent other mothers from having a traumatic birth.

His mom initially abandoned him. Do they interact now?

Punch's mother actually lives right here at Monkey Mountain.

But do they interact? Does she ever act maternally towards him?

Well, at the time of his birth, she seemed to care about Punch.

At this point in time, it's likely that she has no awareness that he is her own child.

She has no special bond as mother and child.

Punch instead thriving on his relationships with his new friends and chosen family,

blissfully unaware of his internet stardom and how one monkey's suffering united a multitude of

humans. Now he's okay, he's not being bullied as much. How does that make you feel?

It's great because it's the same way with me because it was a difficult childhood and now I feel

enough good in socializing. Yeah, so you overcame it. Yeah, and so you're cheering for Punch.

Yeah, I know some of our kids here mean things and they attach onto love and comfort and I think

that's why he's so viral and touching for everyone and it's really cool to see.
