It's the Boomer and Geo podcast from WFAN and we're Coney live for the build for top studio boomer a size and Reggie and out of its boomer and Geo on the fans, Cyclecast across the country on CBS Sports Network and where we are the free Odyssey app Wednesday morning happy first day of football 2026 we're gonna see a Super Bowl rematch the Seahawks in the New England Patriots tonight Aaron Judge back last night two strikeouts hits one out to right field gets taken out of the game He wasn't thrilled about that for the Yankees do win and the offense comes up big when they need to so at least at his first game back You get a boost and you get a win and it's got to continue if they want to overtake the raise in the AL East we've got a big time gas coming in in two hours man I'm so excited to see him in person. I want to feel him. I want a massage him I want to grab his face and give him a kiss on the cheek

Yeah, I'll do it. You feel sims. Phil Sims will be in here in two hours. This is gonna be a fun one and after a a great Lawson summer football is here tonight. Good morning Boomer. How are you and who better to celebrate it within the great Phil Sims? Yeah, he says what bill porceles used to call him. I don't call him that. I just call him Phil I haven't talked to him really in about seven or eight months. He's been like a disappearing act on me. Yeah I don't know what's going on with him. We're gonna find out. We just say boys buckle up man because you don't know what's coming I'm telling you right old man. I would say he's right. Yeah, but he's got a lot of built up energy frustration. I'm sure in regards to you and out specifically Yeah, he just drives that. Yeah, I'll drive some crazy. I'm not sure why but he does So that that would be interesting. The other interesting thing they came out of you said today is you know the first football game Of the season with the Patriots obviously visiting the Seattle sea ox Aaron Donald did not make the trip to Australia with the Rams who left the other day

So I think they just got there. Yeah, I mean I they're playing tomorrow I love Aaron Donald one of my favorite players ever because of my connection with him at pit But I thought that this was lame. I really did. I mean you he thought about this forever He had been practicing with them and it's like I thought he should be on the trip I don't know it surprised me And it also was kind of annoying because you know they have week two in the New York Giants and you know for damn sure He's gonna be playing in that football game. So Yeah, I don't know I thought he should have been there. It's a huge attraction In my opinion in my estimation him coming out of retirement if it would have been at this game in Australia and all the hype around it So yeah, it's a little bit lame. I'm not I mean it's a blip on the radar of his illustrious holofame career And I still love them. I just thought it was lame. He's not I think just want to make sure that he's right and that he's used to doing you know football Exercises again. It's one thing to be in the weight room and do it It's nothing to be out in the football field and doing that and you want to make sure that his legs is a kill ease

You know his hamstrings is back Everything is ready to rock and roll and unfortunately for the Giants is probably going to be against them as you point it out But you know he also probably did want to get on that plane Yeah, fly all the way to all spring. I'll take anybody You know either one of those teams, you know, well, yeah So I mean so that's that's that and that's good news for the 49ers and You know, and I think Kyle Shanahan putty goes I really thought he was gonna play But then when I found that he was not gonna play felt really good about it. Yeah, I mean that that's gonna be a formidable force I have no doubt that he's going to be great again, and obviously he still looks great. Yeah, he's yes Yeah, I mean he's he he had a Unbelievable, you know, clinching play in a Super Bowl and then still wanted to come back and win and he's made so much money He just he this is an opportunity such a football guy such a football man It's just in his blood. It's always been in his blood and he's coming out of retirement to play with Miles Garrett have a chance to do something historic with another whole a fame player and win another Super Bowl

This is not about the money for Aaron Donald and it's not about even chasing one championship It's trying to get another one. So that's probably the most Intriguing football team out there from a national standpoint right now are the Los Angeles Yeah, everybody's got them pencil then for the Super Bowl in LA and their stadium again, so But there's a long way to go. There's a lot of football to be played a lot of things happened during the season You know that I know that as the Patriots open up now In Seattle last year they had the easiest strength of schedule that was based on the year before and they I think they were in last place The year before and this is one of the reasons why Mike Frabel and Josh McDaniels were brought in to get them Straighten out. I think they got it done quicker than they they everybody expected But you know you look at Drake man you look at the year that he had last year he was right there in the MVP conversation He completed over 70% of his passes. He had 31 touchdowns who was averaging almost nine yards per pass attempt

I mean ridiculous numbers and now this year Interestingly enough three of their first four games are away And those are the four toughest games of the opening four weeks of the season for any team good That's what I want to see. I don't want to see it be too easy for a team and back to back years Obviously, they still had to beat good teams to get to the Super Bowl And don't want to take it away from them But yeah, if you have a really easy schedule one year and you Exceed expectations and do really well. You should have a hard schedule in the next year They also have two teams in the division that you know they they should be beating up on The jets and the dolphins and the dolphins are terrible So the dolphins have more money spent right now On the dead cap than they do on the actual cap of the players that they have That's how bad the dolphins are going to be and Malik Wallace is going to be thrown out to the wolves Say go make some plays kids. Yeah, I mean, I know what they call that though. What do they call that? It's an opportunity. It's an opportunity to get what archmanning. No, no for Malik Willis

You know he's getting that opportunity man. He's getting that opportunity to be the week one starter for a franchise That's the way he's got to look at he's not looking at it like I'm gonna get my ass kicked and this is the worst team ever He's got that quarterback brain man. You know that one you taught me about that That quarterback brainless is an opportunity for me to go out and showcase myself. Yeah, the team sucks Yeah, the coach maybe his first year isn't what the hell is going on here with Jeff Hathley But it's an opportunity for me to show up and show out that's what yeah Well, I mean it is an opportunity for sure Much rather have Justin Jefferson and be collar Murray and Kevin O'Connell standing on the sidewalk As an opportunity. You know, he's got what you want there But there's probably about ten teams that are like this with their quarterbacks the jets are gonna be one of them Because you know, obviously they have a lot of stock that they are putting into Geno Smith And I'm paying them a lot of money. It's not costing them a lot of money to pay him I have to come here and play but they're hoping that they get the best version of Geno and not the interception prone one And there are probably ten teams out there that you know probably I feel like they have one eye

You know towards the draft next year because of all these young quarterbacks that are becoming out next year It's supposed to be a quarterback rich draft you never know until you get there and you start really Delving into all this film study and everything else and Regarding meeting all the players, but that was interesting watching Tampa Bay finally pay You know, Baker Mayfield they had to pay him. I mean, I don't know. I don't know what else they would have done I mean, well, what was he gonna do? I mean he couldn't you know he could sit out here He got three years 165 million dollars. So he eclipse what they paid Tom Brady and Tom Brady brought him a super bowl and and playoff Yeah appearances. Yeah, it's inflation Okay, but yeah, and I wish I was playing today Yeah, to be able to son of contract like that, but good for Baker. I mean I don't know where he is in the list of quarterbacks. You know, we'll ask our quarterback guru when he gets here What he thinks about Baker Mayfield and yeah, where where he lines up in the top 10 top 15 kind of guy but I think he's a He's like Sam Donald, right? I mean he comes out of that same draft

They both go to Carolina together they get moved around he goes out the LA for a couple games and learns the offense really quickly And kind of finds a home in Tampa Bay. He gets paid a ton of money But man, I'll tell you what it is it's interesting like This is what starting quarterbacks get now 55 million dollars a year to play Yeah, you've got 11 quarterbacks that are getting paid 50 million dollars a year more in the NFL right now I mean in that God bless. Yeah, no, of course. I mean if you think about the money that the lead is doing that man I wouldn't be here with you. I know I know I thought about that many times man. I've been a private jet somewhere I don't know Abiza wow you go to a visa huh? I like that Monaco man. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Sure Croatia, you know Sicily's big these days a malfy coast over there. Go see the northern lights up in Norway Yeah, of course you'd be well, you know what what there'd be no limit you'd be doing all of it Maybe we're acting like you'd be doing one of those things. Why don't you see I'm gonna play golf? Yeah, yeah sure

Absolutely Huge golfing community there in New Zealand. Enjoying life as they say. Yeah, that's what I don't enjoy life now I kind of feel like I do I mean I do look forward to what we do. Oh, well of course. Yeah, I mean, I don't know If I could be now especially now that we're on serious exam and And we're just spread all over the place. Yeah, we are spread. We have spread our Yeah, we spread ourselves all over the place. We have we have opened our leg to the world. Yeah, we're digital mavens. Yeah Yeah, I mean, it's everywhere if you can't find us you have to be really stupid. I mean come on I mean we're easier to find than an NFL game or a Yankee game. Yeah, I would say yes You could stop you could actually find us easier by accident Yes, and trying to find some of these other teams that you have no idea where they're playing But yes, it's kind of interesting they sat Aaron Judge last night Well, they pulled about it eventually pitch hit for him. Yeah, I bet pitch hit for him won the game for him Yeah, I haven't he said I understand why he wasn't thrilled about it

But hell whatever works man, you know, I mean, I'm glad he made contact Didn't want to seem go down three times with strikeouts. Well, this is why this is why they have What do they call those things when they they set them down on the miners rehab stints. Oh, yeah Yeah, yeah, he's not that you didn't have a rehab stint. Yeah, this is he's doing it on the fly And he's doing it against teams that are probably like triple-a teams anyway in the Rockies and the in the Met I thought this is like a big eight games now for the Yankees last last night was the start of a nine game run here Where they they should have a chance to get closer to Tampa Bay if they just take your business They got a stack wins man. This is a time to stack them start stacking them start to stack them. Yeah, you got to stack them judges back Place was on fire last night You know a couple of Dave sim sims notes. I have for you. All right one There was a sims cam. Oh now all right now. What are we doing hold on? Well, there was the John can there's John's story. Yeah, yeah, but that's John's drawing. He's doing it for like 50 years

Let me ask you if I if I would have an 80 year old doing it It's interesting. Yeah, so if I were to because I we sit next to each other Yeah, every single day on the air If I were to do this move where I I put my hands out Like this I'd punch in the face I punch a red face. I shut the hell up. Don't get your hand down. All that way. We let you finish your point I don't implying that you're not allowed to talk. Oh Not good not good. Not good So on this sims cam. That's exactly what he did to Susan He's he's like we act so he wanted to have the Aaron judge ovation Go over the air so he did this he goes put his arms out she knows Been around a long time That's what I thought we're speaking the same language. Yeah, I thought you do you need to do that? Well first of all Give her instructions like you're on the tarmac first of all he wouldn't be here unless she wanted him here Yeah, all right So we go back to her doctor. She did a norm shush

Whoa It's not good. He did are you kidding me? That's insulting now she's not he did arms shush to her yet. Yeah, right She may not feel That it is is insulting as we are making it out to be but this is where Big mouths like us getting trouble Because we basically are talking about people that are colleagues on this radio. I didn't do the arms shush and on the except serious And by the way then on the Odyssey and on the CBS Actually the I heart radio after the Jesus. Yeah, you just put your ear down on Hudson Street You can also hear the vibrations of my show exactly um, but yeah, so but they it WFA and account put it out So what am I supposed to do? Am I supposed to know where the hour now but now we're bringing it up. I don't know if anybody else brought it up yet I don't I don't know I haven't listen I don't know if you guys leave the even saw it. I don't know you see this you didn't see this okay Here we go. I saw it. I saw it. Look at it. Look at it. Look at it. So I'm sure Hey, don't arm shush season man. You can't do that

This is a bleep you moment. Yeah. Yeah, I mean like if you're sitting there with a rookie. It's a different story Yeah, like if that's a manual but barbell do respect, you know, maybe you get an arm shot. She got to deal with it from Dave I mean, I should question. Yeah, hold on I just don't judge them all right, so what we're doing here is we're now we're amplifying I am Amplification spot Yeah, well I don't I saw if this happens I mean it is a little bit annoying like you know I don't necessarily know that and all the booths that I've ever sat in and with the people that I sat with Starting with Al Michaels never did that to me. Yeah, the great Howard David never did that to me the great Marv Albert never did that to me Of course Kevin Harlan never did that to me. I an eagle never did that to me Well, hell you never did it to me and you could have many times I mean part of well, we're in a different situation. We're not doing games. I know But there's even more of a reason to do it here for four hours every day and me pop it off about some dumb stuff

You never done it the point is it can't arm Shush your colleague at any point can't do it right So we are now amplifying this and this could be a whole discussion well for the rest of the day here in this I don't know nobody think that it was an arm. Do you think it was an arm Shush? Did you see it? I haven't seen it yet. Oh, you gotta watch it. It's just Well, I mean, he could you see it? Romney. Yeah, I did see it 100% arm Shush 100% arm Shush though You're obviously the one that showed this to no, I do not know. I saw normally. This is what you kind of stuff you look for out for sure Owl now. Yeah Yeah, I mean as a towards her as well. Yeah, oh boy because he's not she's the only one with a microphone So it can't be Shush and anybody else who's been in the Yankee booth longer Well, obviously Susan probably that's what I'm saying like that You there's got to be some respect there if anything she should be armed Shush and him maybe it's time for a vacation She should be on second boomer She should be like Dave Zipton let let the crowd give him the proper

I would accept that my Susan. I know the criticism. I'm as far as Susan. Yeah, yeah, I'd be sitting there like I know this crowd I've been here for what 35 years 40 year how how long it's been a long time. We know all right So it's been a long time and she's synonymous with the Yankees baseball radio call more so than he is Because she's been around longer hell yeah now if I were her and I want to Dave Yeah, it's okay That's fine and let the Yankee fan, you know serenade their hero who's back right that to me is That's acceptable. She's been around. She's the elder statesman in the booth. Yes I know I know she probably does not like to be known as the elder statesman You know what I mean, but she has more seniority and she wouldn't do it But she would be allowed to I'd accept it if she did but she wouldn't do it because it's disrespect So you're not accepting this now. No, this is not allowed in your eyes. I'm not accepting this is totally unacceptable It is and it is somewhat insulting. Yeah, I mean I've watched it and it's immediately what I thought like I wasn't thinking about

The ovation I wasn't listening to the ovation. I was I was watching Dave arm Shush Susie that's what I was trying to think if I I might have shushed to fill Sims a few times I felt today when you sit on the other end of the desk and had those lady glasses. Oh yeah, yeah I was like hey, hey, I got something to say over here just calm down over there because now the other thing That you just sit down and just take it easy for a second the other thing I could be wrong about this just because the way that you know sometimes things come out of the radio and You're with the processing and everything else It sounds to me that Dave is copping out on Schlittler and going slitler because he's afraid he's gonna mess up That's my take on that that when he says cam Schlittler he doesn't say Schlittler he says slitler And I think he's doing it to make sure he'd rather say slitler which is which is wrong Then try to say Schlittler and it come out differently You know what I have to say You have to say Schlittler. Yeah, you might have to say sigh young along with it. Yeah, he's amazing again

He had another great game last time but he's you know like you said triple a team. Yeah, basically Yeah, but I I just I don't know if anybody else noticed that maybe I'm wrong maybe because sometimes I think I hear Chaz jism and I don't it's actually jazz chism I could be wrong about this one, but that's that's my initial take on on that is that he's going Slitler and not Schlittler because he's afraid of the tongue tying and the cursing do we have a Dave sims cam 20 met out or no Well, I was just listening. I just happened to hear some of the game in a radio like wow Kind of sounds like a saint slitler So I mean, I don't want to send Jerry on a wild goose chase there, but you know what actually I wonder if there's any highlights in the package where they use Dave's name so we don't have to Are he Dave's voice? We don't have to go through the entire broadcast to try to find one on MLB.com Do you remember do you remember when you Were listening at one point in the game? Yeah, yeah, we all go After we check that I'll go back and see if I can remember the exact the exact moment. I'll try to time it out

That's gonna be important. Okay, I don't know. I don't think she would Too classy. It's the boomer in geo podcast from WFAN Hi boomer geo on the fan and CBS sports networking give us a call on the red pocket mobile fan line brought you by your new ultimate cell carrier Red pocket mobile that number as always is 88888 201019 we were just discussing The arm shush that Dave gave Susan last night when Aaron judge came to the plate for the first time missing Incredibly 99 days since his last game played Mike and Tampa has a quick thought on that before we get to Jerry and Moore what's going on Mike good morning Hey, good morning. Thanks. You're taking my call. Yes, sir. What's up? I love so many things about you I love your voice your impressions and I think you're funny But I gotta be honest if we were at a bus stop I think I'd stand about as far from you as I possibly could Well, I don't see I don't I don't understand. I mean, why would you say I'm a lot of defending Susan

Goldman, a professional under the bus throwing guys I've ever heard other days. It's defending You know what I did I stood in front of the bus to make sure that Susan wall did hit by it You waited till the conductor finished open the back No, I might just see in this room I'm like you're seeing this wrong. So Dave arm just Arm just Susan Should ask the expert in the room. I mean Jerry Is like one of the best play by play guys out there for college basketball. So just let me finish the thought and I'll ask Jerry But you know, so Dave does the arm shush to Susan We put it out on WFA hands account everybody could see what's going on. It's right here. Hey, he's just She's the only one with a microphone. He's stopping her like he's on the tarmac and she's a 747 I wonder am I supposed to not defend Susan in that spot? I don't understand the sequence on last night, man You know, that last night was a big night. It was Come on back. It's been told to be quiet. All right. So Jerry

You got to ask Jerry this. I think you already have I've never done that So you see that as an arm shush too Um, that means it's interesting like I would wonder if they discuss this pregame And that was a reminder like hey, we talked about this. Oh, that's that's the three. I have the audio we're gonna play I remember that's the Well, you remember when Rutgers beat Purdue and Austin my partner Judd the call because he was so excited. I didn't Whatever just no, I've never done that No You're respectful to your your partner Be excited in the moment like I don't have an issue with it Uh, by the way, how does he say slitler or not? Slitler. I do have the Slitler, okay, if you want to hear that so this is uh This is a cam get to strike out ends the inning as he heads to the break Oh No protest by carols return to the dugout and slitler six up six down

Yeah, that was definitely a slitler now the question is how many slitlers that he do during the game or that just the one I heard a couple He's 10k's I had I heard a couple of them. That's a lot of slitler. I think he's avoiding the landmine that slitler can be That's why I think it's going on landmine. They could be I think there's two I don't think it's anybody's fault if you hit the landmine. No, it's not but you don't want to You know, you don't want to know there's this like the You know Jazz chiseled one right. I don't want to hit that one but it happens. I understand. I don't think anybody's gonna shut down the yes No, I know the what what what is the other one that he could you could hit There's slitler. Yeah, would you forget the sch? I understand that and it's just sh. What's the other one? I don't need to tell you that it's just there's a very bad man in history those name is Hitler Well, that's what he's not gonna say Hitler. I'm not saying he's going to say it, but it's also potential In my mind is him I am I never in a million years thought that

I don't think about when I'm saying it. I say don't say to us word and don't say Hitler All I think is a non-seated slit Lur yeah as opposed Hitler Don't you remember? Slitz beer I used to sell Schlitz beer. There's no slitler. Yeah, but he's going Slitler. He's saying slitler. We had not only Schlitz beer. We had Schmitz beer which meds to yeah. Yeah, it's N Yes All right, boomer All right, well, you know what? Because he was so good cam. Slitler is our thriving player of the game brought to you by Thriveville New York's premiere infusion and injection center saving lives drip by drip Visit Thriveville infusion.com. There's no doubt he was the Thriveville player of the game He was outstanding last night. Lovers is eRA 2.0 1 and their 5 3 win over the Rockies But you also have armgate if that's what we want to call it With Dave and Susan and the crowd welcoming back one Aaron George listen to this crowd

Get them his back everybody. Everybody's standing in this entire place Standing in a plotting. Yes, they were now they didn't get much to applaud when he was I mean I was Coming back. He's their superstar and everything but he hadn't done anything Yeah, but the you answered the question right there though. Yeah, I mean they're conquering here. I was back Okay, and now it's a run to the world series. Let's go though. It was Ryan McMahon It's not the one one side of the RBI double in the fifth and the guy that replaced him in the lineup after he was done after six innings and three at bats That's Ramos did this trying to get something done here Swing on that'll do it deep right field lot of carry on the track Goodbye For mr Elliott Ramos And a five one New York Lee. Yeah, and I was Dave again here on the fan and when he says that I'll do it I think they were thinking just lift the ball to the to the air in the outfield Good thing they took Aaron judge out of the game

Did they give him a standing ovation Ramos I would think they did I would think so long hold on But we didn't listen to it here was judge. Yes, he was over three But certainly thrilled to be back It's excited that the way you know the weight is over and you know side to play back in front these fans Yeah, the best fans in the game and they were on their feet from the job, which is which is pretty cool and special but And in the day just happy we got to win and that is their 82nd win which clinches their 34th straight So they played in front of him right So they played in front of 46,000 fans last night You know how many fans the meds played in front of 9,000 yes It's the marlins they're not in a race anymore. It's got what it is and major league baseball wants to expand They're going to they will at some point how about move some of these franchise. Yeah, that's what I'm a little Tampa is gonna get a new building. I believe that's fine. You know, whatever they seem to be somewhat interesting

to their games either though I know the stadium stings, but I mean that's a damn good baseball team that no one watches They tarp the upper deck which is awful Anyway, the aikes do stay four games behind Tampa because in at maybe mark wall toward by him Maybe maybe in Atlanta this happened Yeah, there's a shot well tagged and that baby is god Home run number 39 and he'll take over the league lead in home runs and he is junior Kamenero Home run number 39 indeed a seven one raised win race TV with the call So Tampa gives up no ground at least not in the series opener With the braves down in Atlanta the meds did beat the marlins in front of 9,000 fans seven five home runs for lendor Soto and baby shron man, I great to start and then kind of collapsed in the sixth inning But still does get the win at robert stock against our favorite jensen junk Going later tonight. Yes. It is the NFL start to the season or start to the NFL season tonight in Seattle

Patriots and see ox tomorrow night. You got the Niners and Rams in Australia San Francisco starting defensive tackle Alfred Collins suffered a torn patelli tendon in practice in Australia He will miss the entire season so that sucks now and I'll did not travel with LA Baker maith boy Boma you just missed it god. Did you just miss it Baker maith you old a three-year extension worth 165 million dollars and yet you sit here with a schmucks I like you schmucks. I didn't say you don't but and one of these schmucks is wearing you time I see that night. Appreciate it is Yeah, I know good for him I'm happy for all of those guys. That's what we went on strike for back in 1987 So we could see these numbers some 40 years later. No, they are they are some numbers I mean time the jets will start in Tennessee on Sunday. Here's Gino Smith He was asked about being named a team captain. This is the first time he met the media since that vote took place Yeah, first of all Miss an honor, you know to be back here and have the opportunity To be a part of this organization again to lead this this team this you know young talented group of guys who work extremely hard

Doesn't really answer much of the question and then he would go on and he tells us takes nothing for granted I find myself just looking forward to each and every day Coming to work and you know giving it my all, you know for these guys and so it's uh, it's really special to my My family and I and we look forward to like I said every single day. And so while Gino is the captain Garrett Wilson is not He was asked of that bothers him. I don't know if obsessed the word. It's more of like man. We got we got a collection of guys that all warrant that That label as Captain so very good answer and to worry about exactly right Mean time our guy Jake Asman when we know Jake has been right yeah, so he posted on ex yesterday or two days ago That the jets have not won a week one Sunday game in 11 years. It's a long time Gary V noted jet fan took notice of this and did the whole thing with the video and kind of pointed it and this reaction This is exactly right We have been one our first game

Since some of you were even born that is very true Which is why he thinks this one's a big one against a very winnable team or winnable game against a not great team We need this wind. I'm just making a public service announcement that if we win this game in Nashville I'm gonna lose my mind. Hmm well, okay First team since 1940 40 41 lions with zero touchdowns and three straight season openers. That's the giants All we're so back Oh Welcome back I mean the guy that scored a touchdown against the cowboys right? I mean both You have a tough and improved defense. We'll see we shall see Prove defense of giants defense is gonna be a well. Yes, and the cowboys do not have Tyler's We know the giant second Thursday's yapping. Oh, we're ready. We're ready for CD lamb. How about George Pickens It will CD lamb usually makes it attractive. I understand but they can be ready for CD lamb. What about George pickens?

What about Jake Ferguson? Oh, yeah, what about that press cut baby? That is very true. I think 14 and two against the giants Um, yeah, they have owned that series. I know it is pretty wild. We'll see Sunday night right here on the fan He was Jerry Jones on the fan and Dallas talking about Smith Having surgery and at the end head I'm sure it's a common phrase, but an interesting way of putting it. He really exacerbated That injury that he came California with and he basically At injury more In my mind More obvious that we needed to have the internal fixation on it internal fixation Okay, that sounds fine. I guess but he is out at least four weeks. It looks more like five or six You've got the a team of burr cart Brady and Aaron Andrews and Philly this weekend for the commanders and the Eagles She made a little bit of news yesterday a lot of guys wondering if things were reversed how would this go over

So she was on the call her daddy podcast when they were talking about hockey players as you can imagine she's married to Jared Stoll And she said this I'll be honest hockey players are good looking. They are gorgeous great, but yes fantastic started their shoulders some of them you know So it was Alex Cooper the great but great but so yes, yeah, and then asked about the stole ice up Yeah, that's about stole here did he have all of his teeth when you met him No, he still doesn't oh, okay, they're fake perfect, right, but I mean my best friends husbands like have a flipper still some of them If they're still playing the vibe is you know what like I'm gonna get him hit again So I won't get fake teeth. That's what a lot of girls ask me. They're like well if I date a hockey player they're gonna have teeth No, and you know what it's pretty hot Wow, I think mad has his teeth does he what's a flipper what do you talk with you when they take the teeth out? Oh, okay, all right put him back in and wait to Get it permanently fixed when they're done playing I'll tell you what I think I think I think math does have all his teeth, you know, not how many fights he got in

Just these when they kick the crap out of the other guy well, well, unless you was fighting chara Well, you got a chara's like a mountain of a man Got to fight with Rob Capone over the Rangers over eating dinner the other day. That's true You as open tennis Ben Shelton beat the defending champion Carlos Alcarazan five sets it went four and a half hours It didn't start to 11 p.m It ended three hours ago Yeah, and there were still a lot of people they I know a guy who was at that entire match and He texted me at 11 o'clock. I was asleep and then I responded to his text when I woke up at 3 30 and he's still there He goes. I'm still here. It was I mean, they did this to Venus Williams last week, too This is stupid. It really is and this was apparently Special yes, he got this American taken out the number two player in the world in this epic match that nobody had a chance to see Yeah, and I said the people in the building Dennis Rodman's daughter his girlfriend Trinity Rodman. Yes, it was there all night and just a Jessica Pugula. I mean

What are you supposed to do? This is like prime time tennis, right? What time did they kick off after 11 p.m Yeah, and they started Venus Williams at like 11 30 or midnight last week stupid I got it just I don't know it's silly and Jessica Pugula won She will take it on the defending champion arena suba Lanko who has had a lot of fun with the media this week It's the boomer in geo podcast from W F A N Hi, boomer in geo on the fan and CBS sports at network Give us a call on the red pocket mobile fan line 888 828 101 9 you're new ultimate cell carrier red pocket mobile We have Phil sims in studio with us from 8 to 10 a.m So really looking forward to that on the first day of NFL football 2026 sea hawks and Rams tonight So I get a text from one of the bartenders over at the portly villager and save them and it's a picture of a cardboard box And he says

Someone left this here for boomer And I was like oh god Why would they leave something for me? I guess they figured that you would pick it up and bring it in right Which is a sad state of affairs for me because they know I'm gonna be there eventually And I'm gonna see it right and it's probably gonna be sooner than later You know one of those things and so I go in there and my buddy Ian's behind the bar I bet the live line on the frances T.O.F.O. match Locked in on that all right and uh and I said okay, you know I'm gonna I'm gonna grab this thing and Luckily I knew From the note on here who it was from And that's Richie and East islip who is a caller here richie is also Famously the man who got the blaze and Louis bobblehead over here remember blaze and Louis the bobble heads the The cheerleaders the two male cheerleaders for the Minnesota Vikings. He was the one who got that I think that don't be Eagles now have male cheerleaders too. I think there's a couple teams out there

He's knowing one does um so uh so yeah, so you've got uh so I know Richie I know that he's an actual person and he's in he's and he's funny so I'm like okay I will indeed bring this To boomer. So I don't know what's in here. Here you go. It's a gift It's gone from Richie and East islip's house To the portly villager. I mean did he too? Hi, this is he's just dumping it on me. I don't know. I'm not sure Somebody dumps a gift for onion. I'm trusting him that he's funny because these these Blazing Louis bobble heads. Yes, we're great I'm trying to think what But he would want to give me that would make me laugh. Okay Better not be an islander bobble head. I don't think he would do that. I don't think he's an islander fan Okay, I don't think he wants to bother you in that way By the way, I did see Matthew shaper How's he looking like a hundred and ninety five pounds damn Like a man ripped that kid is ready to rock and roll so you islander pans out there

Good for you guys. All right. He's open in the box from Richie and East islip Listen to a calligraphy. Oh, listener Congratulations on your induction. Yeah, football has been the only sports team I can count on every year. He's right. Yeah Winning team and enjoy for years coach champ e south jr. Along with jade's more than a note to that right? I mean It's very nice. Oh, it's very nice. No, okay. Oh, it's on that picture. Are you? It's on your high school picture? Look at that flow. Yeah, look at that. I had amazing back in a day. Yeah, that is that's beautiful Yeah, see I football opens up this week to everybody's hope up this week. Oh What do we got here? And that's the that's the picture there on CBS sports networks that Richie wrote his note on yeah So we got another bobble head. Yes, we do okay and It's me and coach champ. Oh, look at that. Look at that hair Did look at coach champ is mustache and it says fun go on the bat. Yes, it does because he threw the fun go at me

That's pretty good, huh? Remember, I love your coach champ. He always will Just kiss the bobble. Look at that. Yeah, look at that That is amazing. Thank you, Richie So the the bobble head is the famous boomer high school picture with the The blonde flow that we just put up on CBS sports network and next to him is a coach champion bobble head with the E.I. Had on and his world famous outfit with a fun go bat in his hand that famously was tossed at boomer's eyes in in high school. Yeah, so Sal was both my baseball coach and football coach. Yeah, he played at Lawrence high school played a Purdue university And then came back and coached out in East Island. He took over on like 74 75 maybe 73 maybe And obviously I had him 77 78 and 79 I think these are actually 76 77 78 I think he gets these made in like Indonesia or something like

But I will say I love it because it's got coach on there. Yeah, yeah, and coach. I know is watching right now So coach looks a hell of a lot better in that bobble head than I do I think the best the best part of the entire bobble head is the champion mustache. I think they came out phenomenal perfectly absolutely perfect. Yeah, it's the boomer in geopuncast from WFAN I'm over in Geo Coney alive the build forward tough studio on the fan and CBS sports network Give us a call on the red pocket mobile fan line brought you by your new ultimate sell carrier red pocket mobile 888 808 101 9 didn't take long for Richie and East iselves bobble head of view and sell champion to be one up to now there is a giant Dave rimington trophy in the studio You got to tell me what's going on here net by the way that is I don't want to get in trouble like Aaron Andrews But that's the greatest ass on a trophy that It's never been made. So what an ass on that trophy. So if you know Dave rimington was one of my I often tell stories about him

One of my first teammates in Cincinnati. It took me under his wing And he was a great offensive center at Nebraska who won both the outland trophy the Lamboarty trophy All-American He was an academic all-american. I mean he was amazing back in 79 and 82 nobody ever looked like he did playing center Yeah, if you go back and you watch old film of him you'll see He looked like he was a running back at center because he was off the ball so fast And he was at the second level and he was basically crushing defensive lineman So back in 2000 Dave Dave by the way I asked Dave to come back he was G-Aing at Was constant under Barry Alvarez when he retired he was going to become a coach And when Gunner was diagnosed with CF I said Dave would you come back and run the foundation for me be the president get this whole thing off the ground and learn about What it takes to run an on for profit. Yeah, so he did that and

So in 2000 I said you know what why isn't there a trophy honoring the the best center in college football And why don't we name it after you? I think your legacy obviously stands tall out in the state in Nebraska It's like Jesus is walking and it's the parting of the red sea when you go to their stadium And they love him and Lincoln they love him in Omaha is from South Omaha high school And it's just a great human being and I said can we name a trophy after you? Maybe we'll build something around it and raise some money for cystic fibrosis And he reluctantly agreed, okay? So I went to Mark Mellon a world renowned sculptor who does bronze statues like this has done statues of Michael Jordan Steph Curry Yannisante de Gumpo George Bush I mean, he's it's just it's amazing So he and Mark Mellon developed a friendship and Dave and Mark came up with this unbelievable trophy that weighs about 50 pounds Thing is awesome like I like and I've never seen

Any trophy in that shape because you don't normally get an offensive lineman or a center shape when you're doing something like this Right is remarkable right so marked it an unbelievable job. Dave helped them curate it look it look at it and come up up with an idea and we've had what I think we've had 26 winners to this point or 27 Eight have gone on to the NFL Tyler Lindobom was the last one that you know that that actually just moved to Las Vegas Probably the richest center in the history of the sport and the Charles Bentley Wanted for Ohio State so we actually are going to take this trophy around to different games this year We're going to actually promote it nice. We have it really promoting you know ESPN picks it up It is part of the you know the national College award ceremonies great and so it does have legitimacy, but it's a beautiful beautiful trophy and then every year We give it to the the winner out in Lincoln, Nebraska at the Rococo theater All the Rococo theater. Love the Rococo theater. See how much this thing weighs Yeah, I know I saw Bob Plansker having a

Have an issue with it. He's a nice strong man By the way, this thing is so realistic in the break you were sticking your hands underneath his butt It was crazy. You just were having flashbacks In the front of us I have is when he's y'all and at me through his legs when he's giving me the shotgun Right right. I'm going no left That thing is awesome and I've met Dave many times He's just one of the greatest guys. So this is this is a really really cool thing and I hope that I know those in the past that have wanted. I've really understood what it meant And I hope this year's winner understands and sees this trophy and it's a it's a legacy thing man It's also really is it's a great legacy thing but to think it So we're going to take it to an army game I think we're going to take it to Ohio State Oregon game You know, we have about 30 guys that are on the watch list You know, so um You know, a lot of schools were involved in the promotion of this and Really, you know getting it out there, but when the guys get it and they see it for the first time Yeah, they can't believe it. I mean, I thought you'll be a trophy now out Maybe you can do this

put in division one football Awards and see how many ESPN recognizes. I know they recognized the remitton trophy I think the rest of the awards maybe except for this one and maybe one other The guys are dead. Oh Really, it's alive. You know, like I'm trying to get him like taking out get out there. Yeah a little bit more He's retired from our foundation right after 2020 right after Um, the COVID and he moved down the Florida with his beautiful family So, you know, I'm trying like I don't know he might be at Burning man right now. Oh, he loves that. I don't know. It's burning man going on right now or something I don't think so I think I'm not sure when it goes. Okay quite frankly, but uh, yeah I mean, he's uh, he's gone to that of many years in a row to take pictures very interesting man Yeah, he's a photographer. Yeah, yeah, get him out there man. Yeah, how many how many awards do you see there's many awards There's like 369 12 15 18 now to keep it they can't be that many awards

I mean the major ones are Heisman right the Blitnikov the John Mackie Maxwell outland the Lombardi Maxwell award Maxwell award or camp Right don't walk our award right Did you Brian Blitnikov Johnny Unitis right Jesus Uh, the outland trophy rimming tin trophy. Yeah, the Bronco the the Gersky award. Yeah, I think he's the only guy who live That is he's really got to get out there and take advantage of this Georthorpe right that's what I'm saying. I don't read guys. He's still around. There's a regai award. No, he's not you know that perfect Teddy Hendrix award So there's a lot of awards a lot of awards. They love a good award here. Everybody loves a good award What about this one the warful trophy Danny Tragedy right can't be that old what is that for Hmm Not sure okay The warful trophy

I'm a word for award winner goes to the Heisman winner who has no shot at doing anything in the pros Yeah, he's 52 Danny Warful You know, what is his award for Danny award? Uh College premiere award recommend for the best FPS player So yeah, so that that's all right So you have a bunch of different Awards, but this is one of the major ones here and we see we have about seven former winners that have earned all rookie More than 20 combined pro balls selections They've played combined trophy winners have played over 1500 games Right now let's say eight former roomie ten trophy winners are currently playing in the NFL Including the great tyrant linder bomb the highest paid center in NFL history by the way Yeah, you know the warful trophy's got a sponsor you know get a sponsor on this thing It's the all-state warful trophy. Is it really yeah? Well good. Well, why don't we make this the Ford

Remington trophy Or something and whatever I don't know we'll figure it out I'm sure my man Tony Toronto's all over it at CBS right now California cryo bank. Yeah, you're in the trophy. That'd be great The incogni you know, you know what fits was he like the Walter something yeah Like Milwaukee tools or somebody like that. What about Romeo fuel? Romney well, they're local. Oh, okay. You need more of a national brand. All right Oh They are I guess North Shore I mean you'd have to have a life-size one look at the bucket on this trophy. I don't think it's shot Well, he's been lifting a little bit. I think yes, I mean it is heavy Don't mind the drilling. Yeah, here we go

Oh, he's got it do some do some curls because I know you like to do curls. Yeah, look he is lifting Look at those arms Nice they really do Maybe you should join Charlton with some blue chew The blue chew rimmington trophy. Yeah, the better sex boner time Just about physical sex is about mental Oh come on look at how's arms though. I know well, you better screenshot that that is some thirst trap material profile pick New profile pick for sure you got a that was good man You know, I know I don't want to the glacier here, but man oh man It's the only muscle that does anything in the gym. I could do other things nothing happens And that arm takes to with them. Oh by the way, I think our colleague will he clone is speaking at the rimmington trophy awards Did her this year you think or you know I know okay? I do know yes look. Oh, look look look

Look at the striations look at that Oh man you put that up on hinge You know what I saw in the captivate elevator coming up That there are a thousand genetic markers that we all have that basically make up our personality traits How about that? Huh, and I was thinking about you out About which personality traits you have and which genetic markers you got hmm Would you come up with the bottom 10 That's a thousand genetic markers, huh? Yeah, that's wild I'd like to look more into that okay on another time all right And it's boomer in G on the fan and CBS sports network take some calls Uh, no, we're not going to break. No, no, no, it's 11 after I know you've been puking, but your brain should still be intact Yeah, just uh what is going on? Oh the drilling yeah, I mean that is simple leaveable. Yeah, it's loud today. It's all right Uh joelle and Perth Amboy what's going on joelle?

I Good morning. How's it going guys doing great. You're happening joelle I think the guys that's the trophy fact you know what they're doing Yeah, well, yeah, looks like it for sure. Yeah, you want to talk some yanks today joelle. What's up? Absolutely, so yesterday judge comes back which is great phenomenal the whole 99 days. It's cinema. It's you know, you couldn't have wrote in any better Um, my concern is Now that he's back You're not the Asian them right away. You haven't them play the field which I'm a little iffy about He goes against a rookie who's oh and seven for the year as like 4048 strike-out to whatever And my most concern thing is that he had some great loud foul balls and his first step back and then he struck out on a fastball So it seems like that sport When he takes the swing it's still slow. It's still probably no need some rehabbing but

It scared me a little bit Because of how he's not able to catch up and be on time with the ball You know and it's not even good in it's not even a great picture You tell me joelle you worried about torque this morning on Aaron judge you can't be worried about his torque And I will not say this because I I can't talk analytically in this way and take myself seriously But rami gave me some sort of crazy analytics that is contrary to what joelle was saying I'll let him say it because I don't want it Recorded and played back that I actually said something like this God, but go ahead rami. What'd you say to me? So he may have been laid on the swing But according to this is from branding cutie Judge bat speed on the swinging strike on that strike I was 79.6 miles per hour his average swing this season was 76.1. So that's a good sign. All right good sign So there you go joelle you happy now his torque is fine Four mile an hour faster. Yeah He's probably ain't up. It's a adrenaline talk. That's what that was

I mean this is first game back. He's been missing 99 games man. Well 99 days or 99 days. Whatever. Yeah I mean, but it is It's good to know that the pork is where it needs to be and Yeah, I mean I feel like he didn't have any rehab in my cousin Vinnie. Yeah We We We knew he didn't do any rehab games if you're talking about it yet. Yeah, I mean the fact he made some contact yesterday was fine I mean, they won't get him out of the game in one with his replacement right so everybody could chill out You know what I mean? I mean, I you know They brought him back to early. No, he did not They did I mean in the place was was fired up And that's what I love it. I mean, it was the like the first time Even though they've been playing well, but I mean it the first time him coming back You felt like he we aren't September getting ready for the postseason had that and a little juicer at it Yeah, I'll tell you what he almost ran into Spencer Jones out there in the outfield Yeah, that would have been interesting

Seven guys running into each other. Yeah, he won't talk about a football game out in the outfield for the Yankees Imagine that first game back runs into Spencer Jones. Yeah, out again. That would have been great You got to put you know like they like that one caller said you got to put opposing magnets On their heads so then they repel from each other when they get too close. Yeah That was a real phone call we took We were talking about concussions Guys, yeah, put a posing Magnets on the helmets So when they get too close the the players heads will repel. Yeah, but There are 22 helmets on a field We know how stupid it was I'm saying like there's 22 helmets on a field you're gonna have 22 different magnets I guess That's what he was saying. It's the boomerangio podcast from WFAN We're in geo on the fan and CBS sports now work the road to Los Angeles Are we gonna be on that road to Los Angeles this year? No, thanks. Okay. No

The road to Los Angeles presented by he looks wireless where connectivity meets Possibility ABC and ESPN carrying the Super Bowl. Okay. Well, I mean if the jets of giants make it will be on that road and River spring living experience the difference visit river spring living a dot org Jerry did you see owls? Guns out When he was lifting the rimmington trophy. No, but owls in great shape. That doesn't surprise me. Yeah, but his arms look really I mean his arms look great. Yeah, well, ow goes to the gym every day Well, not every day most days some days does what girls Is that it? Well, I do like chest shoulders and arms, but the only thing that ever responds is my arms That's it, which is weird. I'm all about that. I'm like your shoulders. Not no Stand up. Let me see your shoulders in stand up. Let me see that. Yeah. Do you do any neck exercises? No, I mean by the way

But that big butt going right down to owls crotch with this If someone had no idea what was going on and they just put that on Well before when you were showing initially the trophy's butt is faced right into boomer in his head coach By the way that trophy so big you can make a porn with it Think huge well. I mean centers are big people. I mean, that's a big trophy. That's a great trophy. It's a great looking trophy I didn't say any great. That's a big trophy. That is awesome. I'm a little turned on by that Jerry you could but you're you played on quarterback that say John the answer. I did I did see where that I know you don't know why I'm trying to move the trophy. It's like this. Yeah, okay. I got to move this ass Move it Yeah, move that ass What are we going wrong with that? 51's the mic This was actually he's doing right here. Yeah, he's pointing 51's the mic. He's got to tell the other idiots that he's

This was actually built to scale the exact size of your high school center Right exactly. He's nice. No, no my high school center was my height. Oh really. Okay. I was just one over I think I remember every center I played with from high school. Wow Eddie Condon. Hmm Dave Remington Bruce Kuzersky Jim Sweeney Caldixon Mike Devlin and Derek brills. Wow. That's impressive. Pretty good. Oh, yeah, I mean it's kind of close to them. I know Know them. Yeah, I understand put it put your hands in a man's ass. You're gonna remember who it was right? Especially in the NFL when they don't wear cups or butt pads. Yeah, you're right in there. You're right up on the sack You go right in there, man. You have to be a little tank tickler. What Oh You're the one that's talking about being close to them. Yeah, I'm just Well, because in high school you're talking about tank. You're talking about What what he said tank tickler. Yeah, okay, you're doing you're saying sack because in high school and in pop Warner

You put that right hand up and you felt padding while you know you felt a cup What you felt whatever you felt and it hurt when the ball would be snapped into the NFL put it on the side of the cup None of you lunatics wear cups. Yeah crazy Absolutely nuts It's amazing that any of you have children To those balls exposed like that in the most violent game we know There's it's amazing between you and and and Mike Hill Mike Hills the one who got to scroll them ripped open the guy works for your foundation Yeah, but guys in the bike tour. I mean the guy lives his life. He's just a regular guy You're out there in the NFL, but if he's gonna work for me He's gonna have to fight through it and he does all there is to it lost a lot of blood finished that whole thing He looked like a ghost at the end of it, but he finished by the way rami you're doing the bike tour with me this year Oh boy am I Are you I think that's a yes. I think this might not be a choice spot Yeah, no choice spot You're like biking with those big gen Z thighs that you got right? I can bike a little bit actually

I could probably take Pat's bike I can get I can get that back from Pat He's been trying to get it to me and I'm like Pat. I think that was terrific So I'm gonna bring another guy to play with you and Celo this year. Okay So if you're interested you can go to a siasin.org and you can bid for Jerry and Celo to play my golf turn of it on October 5th Awesome. Yes, I was very happy that I was able to get Jerry duty moved no problem at all Right you chum you had a I said a work conflict and I gave them like eight other weeks I could do it next day they gave it to me another day it was no problem and now he's gonna be in the studio that day, right? How's going to be out there with us? Oh, I thought there was the trade that was made that day because he didn't go to do process and he was saying How come I'm not at the due process one which is right down the block from my house however? I have to go to that when I thought a swap was made that day I think he wants his free golf bag. We'll bring it to him. No, no We'll be there picking it up

He loves that golf. I do love a good golf bag. It does feels like Christmas. I see what's in the looks and crannies the pockets Yeah, everything but you brought in that golf bag from the due process one you gave it to him He didn't I felt guilty. I felt bad. No, okay. I wanted to make sure that he knew that I was thinking of it It does seem a little off just That the one that's four miles from his house It's kind of that was that was because the one the name in the playoffs. That's not supposed to happen Well, when X were in the plus we had to stay on the air But and we did and it sounded great. That was like that was a satellite crew by the way Yes, and I think with a main crew. I think he could do his job fine from here Stop Do you want me to get somebody else to play? No, I'm just I'm defending Al here because he's not opening his mouth Yeah, I thought that the trade was made that I did too. Yeah, I thought that that's what happened It's like okay, so you should have been here today. Sorry about that you went to the city You don't have to show up is the one on long-own. I never said that. That's what I thought I never said that

Yeah, it's the name of the band. Okay. I Did they're good very good. Okay. Is there like cover banders like I do it on stuff? No, they do cover it's cover band. Okay. Good job. They're playing in Stephen talk house Friday night before. Oh Wanna go Friday night. Yeah, maybe I don't think I got anything going on all right. Yeah, be awesome Cane tuck cane tuck all right What is happening Jerry Reco in sports? How about Patriots Seahawks tonight week one of the NFL opens So Devon McCordy sat down with Drake May and AJ Brown and I imagine the entirety of this interview will be played during the pregame tonight And so McCordy As he's looking at both of them sitting right across from him asks May and Brown about being locker neighbors

I imagine something you're familiar with bummer My first thing we noticed we walked in here everybody's like their lockers are side by side did y'all choose that Did you just come in and lockers were together how that goes and so Drake May is the quarterback He's like you damn right very thoughtful answer. I think it's kind of natural You know, you want to have you know two of the you know leaders on offense and you know, especially in the skill position room to be You know in constant communication and have a Just kind of a demeanor you know in the locker room of man those those two guys over there talking football You know you're working and doing things the right way make sense Then they looked at brown Yeah, I had no idea about what I just I came and I was there It was kind of interesting. I was always around the offensive lineman I never wanted to be around the wide receivers Why is that because they're panning the ass? Oh, you know, I was open. I'm open. I'm open here I'm gonna run this gun run that you know, it's like oh my god. Well, maybe AJ Brown again 150 catches this year. I think he and Garrett Wilson and Malik neighbors will be like boom boom right there with Justin Jefferson and everybody else

CD lamb CD land. What about jax jaxon smith and jigba? I got out of him. Yeah big season. Where JSN baby. Yeah, Super Bowl champion. I would Dave sim say his name What else is going on? Niners Rams in Australia tomorrow Baker may feel the three-year extension with the bucks 165 Million dollars the jet start in Tennessee on Sunday. Here is Aaron Glenn He was asked about you know rob solas now coaching the Titans and I didn't hear the question But it sounds as if he was asked something along the lines of this has to be personal to solor You know right he used to be the jet said coach. It goes with I guess you could say the territory of Solo once it's been here and then I stepped in as the head coach, but To me, I'll look at it. It's it's a game that that we're going through to win and It doesn't matter who it is Yep gotta go out and beat him in terms of this jet team. What would make the season a success?

Successful season Actually win it Winning I mean hands down effort Discipline and then he just I don't know why just glared at the reporter It was well range. I could he's probably thinking you're trying to trap me into saying X amount of wins or now you're gonna bring this back to me at the end of the season where you said Oh, you know that you wanted to see this it to be a successful season and we're not seeing that I mean I can understand why he would be annoyed at that. I'm just glad that he didn't answer it like a jerk like he has Yeah, the answer the interesting thing is they're gonna be well you would think that they have four games on their schedule Maybe five if you count Cleveland. I'm not sure what to make of Cleveland just yet But five games were they're playing teams that they That are worse than they are maybe six of windable. I mean yeah Tennessee got Miami twice You got Vegas Cleveland Vegas. I mean that's five games right there. I mean you got it. You got to win those games

Now you use the word being a jerk. Hmm. So I was gonna do this a little later, but I'll do it now Davos Sweeney with the media yesterday So Clemson got lit up by LSU a lot of people are questioning the way he put this team together His use of NIL the portal things of that nature. So he was asked this question Do you regret anything about your offseason roster Chapel you come with all these questions. I'll tell you that you're the gotcha guy the gotcha guy Okay, so he goes on to answer the question. No, I don't I don't man. I regret being over one right now. I regret that But what can you ask Matt at the end of the season? You know the season in over I think we got one game got 11 more. Well if we go 11 more. Okay, and then you know Clemson fans were showing some of the guys that got some of the big NIL money in the offseason and they were getting housed And you know, that's not a good sign for the coach Well, he continued on this theme before he really turned us into a jerk You promised me you asked me that then okay, I'll answer it. All right, but I'm not answering questions like that

You know chapel. I know you I know that's your role when that's in this environment You know to to be to to be the guy that wants to create all the controversy and ask the controversial questions if that's who you are It's fine. I get it. All right, so a little swarmy, right? I mean he got it He got licked up and down for years and years and years by these things. He won a national championship But you know, they also you have to remember now. This is no longer college football. This is professional Yeah, I mean the coaches are getting paid $10 million a year. Uh-huh. Uh-huh. The players are getting paid I mean, so now all of a sudden the questioning is going to be different I know it's always intense down the SEC and down south down by Clemson and South Carolina and all that but it's going to only get worse With the social media and the amount of money that's being spent on the sport now Allie tells the story about he felt like Warren Sap was gonna basically show him at a locker I was covering him back in the day. Yeah, yeah So here is where Davos Swini if he could have it sounds like would have with this reporter And he really does sound like a jerk here. We played one game One game, all right?

Did you play football? Oh, okay. Well, they give you 12 games and at the end of the year you count them up All right, and you know That's when that's when those type of questions are fair to me Yeah, as opposed to after 51 10 in prime time I mean, you got the same thing happened to Texas and archmaning last year when they lost a Ohio State And I guess that's his point the season has just begun But he is getting clobbered everywhere Yeah, listen, these are passionate fans, man. You know it. It's kind of like Yankee fans around here Oh, yeah, but the Yankee Yeah, everybody expects a national championship. Yeah, I know, but they Especially when you spend $25 million on your team. Yeah, 51 to 10 It's not easy Yankee I don't even know what the equivalent to that would be losing to the red socks the opening weekend of the series by a combined score of 30 to 4 Yeah, by the way, I was reading a story about

LSU and they were saying how those two players that were trying to come back from the NFL Uh, no longer going to be added to the roster because they added two other players to the roster So now they have a total of 105 players on the roster. You also are the SEC taking them to court Yes, there's a lot going on down there It seems like they have backed off that whole thing because at halftime if lane kiffin said the Holly row Could you imagine if we had any NFL players what this game would be like? Hmm. He seems like a lovely guy. Oh, he's next down. He's got my car wash nice. That was good Forget about that. I'll sound from the Yankees. They did beat the Rockies five to three Aaron judge was back he went over three, but Ryan McMahon had a big hit and Elliott Ramos said the three were on a homer Yankees clinching their 34th consecutive winning season Uh, they don't pick up any ground on the raise though because the raise and Freddie Perolta beat the brave source Of course meantime pital azure is 33rd home run, but the Orioles did lose and the best people all the we saw for us Actually on the iL again. We talked about that. Yes, shocking right exactly. It's the boomer in geo podcast from WFAN

Hi, boomer in geo on the fan and CBS sports network Phil sims in studio with us at the top of the hour 8 a.m. A lot of things to talk to him about as the NFL season gets kicked off tonight With the Patriots and Seahawks of course a rematch of the Super Bowl. So I really don't know the full story behind this yet, but I do know that the photos are fake So Clay Matthews He's a part of this Netflix broadcast tomorrow in Australia and he's been on other video podcasts recently in his faces look normal But all of a sudden TMZ puts out these photos of Clay Matthews and air quotes with a giant john. He's all jacked up and they got someone oh look at Clay Matthews here Like does he obviously got some work done so I don't know if they're in conjunction TMZ with whatever this promotion is around Clay Matthews and faking everybody out about it They might be because I don't know how you could get faked out by these pictures. They look so incredibly

fake. I mean no one would ever be able to do that with their face I don't think what they did to Clay Matthews, but If anybody saw those pictures and thought just because TMZ picked it up that it was real. It's not and It's either him playing a joke on people or it has something to do with Promoting him or getting people to talk about him as he makes his debut on Netflix tomorrow With that game with the Niners and Ram you know, I worked with Clay Matthews With the Super Bowl down in New Orleans, I believe okay. He was on the NFL today set As one of our guest hosts just we did it also with Travis Kelsey. I think that was down in Houston. Oh, okay Yeah, so yeah, both those guys you knew we're gonna be good for TV if they wanted to do it and you know Obviously Clay is close with Pat McAfee. Yep So it's good for him. He gets exposure there as well And I'm sure he gets paid by Pat with that 60 million dollar payday. That's a Jay Hawke that he does a show

Yeah, I just I don't know if Clay's been on that show and because of a jam. Sure he has, but all right well Yeah, anyway played against Bruce Matthews and Clay Matthews senior. Yes, this Clay Matthews junior we're talking about. I don't know if see me But Clay Matthews was the guy that was with us. Yes, the little the Packers lineback. Yes. Yes. Yes Who was that's why AJ Hawke and he could be brothers Yeah, for sure And I just remember being terrorized as a Vikings fan by both Brian Erlacker and Clay Matthews junior during those years guys We're just unbelievable all over the field causing chaos But I don't know of CBS sports that we can pull up that Clay Matthews fake photo, but for anybody To have bought that thing and I want to know if TMZ is behind it But because they they couldn't have been faked out by this It's just no way. I mean you saw him right? Yeah, it didn't I look like it was totally fake. Yeah, yeah, yeah TV can't use it But I mean it is why can't TV use I don't know because it's on social media stupid fricking rules and around

I figured if you're on social media you could use it right Stephen Waldron CBS sports how why can't you use it and what would be the consequences if you did I don't know the consequences, but we can't but what but honestly, well, like who's gonna who is the person like this whole thing Yeah, but who is the person who's gonna come after you about this? They're using these images to promote something and we're actually doing that someone's gonna say you can't use it Yeah, can you really agree that that's stupid? Of course it is okay. All right. There you go. That's one I mean I'm looking at it right down I can hope you can't if you turn it around you can't use that I guess not no Yeah, that's real. It's not real. It's a hundred percent fake It's not we was just on with the Taylor LeWan and Will Compton on their podcast and it looked normal like four days ago No, it's not real. So it's a it's a promotional thing guys a good-looking guy man Well like in real life. Yeah, yeah, not what ever those AI images were no those AI images made him look like he was like

A bad guy and a Batman movie. Yeah, yeah, like yeah, of course like a like a superhero or a villain in a superhero movie Yeah, I mean I just felt about Phil every every Sunday morning at the NFL today I walk in and there's the evil Phil Sims We're in the lady classes. Yeah, which was his superpower. It was the superpower. Once you put on those lady classes and all of a sudden Man, he had some hot takes the hot take lady glasses. He did through those things on the pins were flying they were flying They were flying I mean Zach Martin caught him like a Striped bass in there. Yeah, but Zach supposedly Zach Martin said that he thought it was me Now meanwhile, I'm sitting in here and I'm talking on a microphone and then he walked into Alan Rommies. Yeah, he came in and just slapped them on the back. He thought it was he did think it was boomer I don't believe that I'm I'm sitting here on the It's so loud. You don't even know who's on the radio or if you're in commercial break, you know with all the construction

So he just came in just See, I think that he's just messing around because that's what that's the joke And then he's just doing the joke and that's his entry point and to be able to Badger Phil Sims No, because he was initially embarrassed. He didn't want to say it really How does that he just worked with you for how many years now Zach? He was here before you like we're full time I think and boomers taller Yes much taller much taller. Yeah, much bigger Big Phil Shringen. I don't think he's shrinking, but man I'll tell you he's got some meat hooks for hands. He admitted in here. He is in fact shrinking really said that We lose a Eighth or something and eighth of an inch every year. Not me. I haven't lost any inches But he said the last time he lost a quarter and he feels like it's speeding up Really, oh, it looks like he's in pretty good shape looks like he's good shape. He's just getting shorter Looks like she'd be working on a tractor somewhere with those hands It's probably like a Kentucky farmer type guy. Should be working like in a tobacco warehouse or something

I was listening to that Bill Marr podcast where that Scott Galloway and he's like we lose one percent of our brain capacity Every year starting at 45. I'm like, well, who's studying this We have people studying everything. Where are those numbers coming from and how do we know studies? Does anybody take a test to say this and someone's got to be overachieving somebody's got to be underachieving somebody The parvage doing this test on who On people, you know becoming your age. I don't believe any of you You're gonna be one of their subjects. I don't believe any of it I think I'm getting more intelligent. I think everybody does to a certain degree and then you start losing it later But I mean don't you feel more intelligent now than you did 20 years ago? Experience. Yes. Well with experience comes to tell us that's the point It's the boomerangio podcast from W F A N But we're a geo company alive for the build Ford tough studio on the fan and CBS sports network We've got a guest, but when we take calls again, it'll be on the red pocket mobile fan line brought to you by

Your new ultimate sell carrier red pocket a mobile and that's 888 808 101 9 We are so thrilled And I mean this genuinely to welcome back Phil Sims to the show every Wednesday during the football season And since this is the first Wednesday and the first game and we got Seahawks Patriots Phil has Decided he wanted to be here in studio for two hours with us That's how much the two-time Super Bowl champion that's how much a Super Bowl MVP That's how much this man was been with CBS sports for many many years calling games calling Super Bowls That's how much he loves ball and he is here this morning Phil good morning. How are you? Geo I'm doing well. Is that can you hear me? Yeah, I could hear you great I mean, I appreciate the hospitality coming the building. There's nobody here to help me to get up here Oh, there's a construction every if they've been under construction here for 20 years. Yeah, it feels like a lot Yeah, I mean, it's unbelievable It is unbelievable, but you know try back as hot baby try back as hot it is hot man like it what's that mean for me?

I can't care less What's happening is a lot of construction around here There's a lot of things going on and tropics moving in next door in the Google store I'm really you Google building you have craziness going on around this is a man who's got Foxes and deer and squirrel and groundhog and all sorts of the castle is almost in pop Hi-oaties he doesn't care about try back up being hot It was over there Freckling Lakes in his castle. He's fine. It's done. Don't don't tell everybody. It's a castle It is a cad that's a castle man come on You took your living room and made it into a bar Well, you know why So what do you you like to drink? How many times have you walked into a living room in your house and done something in there never never Yes My wife re decorated our living room three times Yes, it's beautiful and I'm not exaggerating I never went in once and sat down with anybody in that room ever now with the bar Not that we we're not even drinkers, but at least we go on air and hang out watch TV Yeah, you do and it's right off your office or that little TV room where you watch all the football games

No, it was out in that the family room right off the bar there. No, what is that room? That's what the I don't know a sitting room or whatever I'm like sitting as a sitting. I don't know. That's where those castle. I do like it though Yes, but we watch all the football games at the other end of the house Then I had four TVs there, so I'm I'm rock I'm locked up and ready to go ban you're rich I'm not rich New Jersey rich. Yeah, yes, you are you know the taxes in New Jersey here just What they don't get him started please And if someone will talk one lick of football. Oh, no, no, no road. It's some it's unbelievable It is I'm going by so yeah, I know let's get to I want to ask you a question you you've been out over with the giants Yes, is John Harbaugh has gotten can you can you tell us what Impact that you see that John Harbaugh has had on the entire organization Well, it gave the whole organization energy everybody's happy man walking around smiling For many reasons one John Harbaugh. That's a big reason why the draft has gone well for him

And I think they just feel really good about what's happened to this team over the last two years or last two drafts The giants have changed their football team to me and you know the NFL is about boomer and GL You talk about all this stuff all the time, but it's it's now a league for big people I mean so many teams are big the giants are one of them. I mean, hey guys You said about the Ravens all the time but their roster being the biggest in the game and getting off the bus And you feel like they're building that here absolutely So one day I'm with the Ravens. I'm down there getting right to the game. I'm in the cafeteria Ozzie Newsom comes up come here. He's all excited and I go damn did I do something? No, what are we going to how we go? Yeah, what's going on? Ozzie goes fill fill I just signed a tackle You know, whatever I said oh, yeah, and he goes he's six eight three fifty Yeah, I know he was it was just some believable that that describes who they were and I get a little bit of that feeling with the giants I know so here's the other part about this whole John Harboh thing like We had him on you know, he did want to play the guys in preseason nobody wants to play guys in preseason

I had Jackson dark played a little bit. James played some Odell Beckham played some leak didn't play at all and rightfully so But the point being is that are the practices Notissibly different from what they were from previous Groups as I guess with the exception of Tom Kaufflin Right all the way back to Tom Kaufflin before I would say that yeah in other words The practices are exactly what you'd want to see is a head coach and owner x player whatever it's really High energy not a lot of talking going on except the coaches the players are just in and out they move It's amazing how Busy they keep them for two hours and maybe sometimes two and a half hours on the field. So his so it's also competitive practice Oh big time. I mean they're hitting right. I mean they're thudding at least thudding Yeah, it's like you know it's players are running in in on the field from the sideline coming out in and out I'm like what the hell is going on here? You know, I can't even figure it out figured out but

The big thing about that is the energy is real And I talked a lot of the players you know the hang around we talk and you know what none of them Complain one time for one word to me about anything or about John Harbaugh Because he's got him they know what he's doing. It's the right thing and you know, I think they've done a really good job of drafting this team right now and of course preparation wise He said this to us too About the injuries and not playing in preseason he goes you know years ago we'd have four or five guys get hurt And we didn't think about it now if you get one person hurt it's It's a disaster, you know, so that's one of the reasons why they keep Most teams around the league kept their players starting players out of the out of the preseason games now Not to crap all over Brian Davyle. He's not here anymore But one thing that I really didn't notice when they made the switch and Kafka comes in and Abdul Carter gets disciplined and then you heard some of the other players around that it almost sounded like they were

yearning for discipline They were yearning for a little more structure which struck me as was great to hear But I was also surprised because you you always assume that today's athlete doesn't want that type of thing But it seems like the giants are reacting really positively to that exact thing that we assume that they don't want Which is more practice more structure and more discipline? Well, you know when you lose a lot in the NFL you want to do something to change it And you want to change your life your football team your job your money. It's everything And the thing about it is like I said I never hurt not one guy one player Anybody said anything's a regulatory about John Harball So when he walks into the room every day you sit up straight you have you know you got to do it and here's the man That's it Dan Reeves after two bad years with the giants. We had terrible years We get the team together he walks in You know with the beautiful suit the tie the hairs perfect whatever he stops puts his yellow note pad on the lectern looks out of

Us and he goes sit up straight put your feet on the floor and take those damn hats off And Well, it's soon he did it bardotes my center was like as close as you are to me geo And and I turned to him. I went we're gonna win Yeah, just like that. Yeah, well, I mean that's a big part of it You know, we're talking to the great Phil Sims. I took I'd ask you Jackson Dart There's a lot of pressure on him. There's a lot of pressure on this opening game the Dallas Cowboys come to town They get one of the best offenses in football Yeah, I don't know about the secondary just yet about the giants but Jackson Dart is the great hole now and rightfully so after what we saw last year Do you see significant improvement in his preparation and what he looks like in practice and what you saw in preseason? Man, you know what I see yes all the all the above he does He's got a really good throwing arm. I'm not gonna say it's the best arm in the NFL as far as Thrown with power and all that stuff But he's accurate He makes great just really good decisions and and the opportunity is there he's gonna run and for all the giant fans

Listen Jackson Dart is gonna run. They're gonna have design runs for him And also when you drop back to pass if you don't feel good about where you got to throw it You see a little gap somewhere you take off. I thought he was great at that last year And the other thing about him is he doesn't miss routine plays If the guys open he doesn't missing if it's tight coverage or whatever Somewhere in the field he puts it in the right spot and The other thing is to boomer and geo He is absolutely the pie-piper of the team. I mean the players don't like him. They loving that's great I mean, it's it's really he's and he's just Once you're around him a little bit to go. Yeah, I get it So yeah, he just had that look like I remember trying to Not compare him to Zach Wilson because they went to the same high school We just went through that Zach Wilson experience in the first time I and it wasn't fair to him that that I thought that way It's just like another guy out of Utah. It's gonna come here to New York and just get chopped up He's a punchy

Yeah Yeah, so that's what he was punching. Yeah, well, we'll leave that one alone So jude but just look at it. I mean he looked more like a man. Oh, he is then then Zach ever did I mean maybe does to this day so I think that part of him he could tell he's a leader But it's almost like and I'm guilty of this too when you think of the giants and the issues that they have It's almost like we put quarterback like to the side like well, it's gonna work out like he's gonna be fine And we are we like assuming too much that Jackson darkness off more season is gonna be great because I don't hear anybody It's worried about him I hear people worried about secondary interior defense of line wide receivers running nobody's worried about Jackson dart We're just assuming he's gonna be great Well, I'll be surprised if he's not really really good I mean is it gonna be great? Is he gonna be one of the top five or 10 quarterbacks in a fell? I don't know probably not But you know, I think all the things that caught me by surprise last year the the biggest one was his running

I would be a training camp and I you know, I tell these stories all the time He He would throw the throwing was kind of caught me by surprise every day I watched him in training camp his rookie year last year That he just got better and better and the running he'd actually looks faster in the NFL than he did in college You know, I asked these guys this yesterday. I want to ask you this Jets giants, okay, right? So you have genos myth on one side you got Jackson dart on the other Which team has a better group around their starting quarterback the jets or the giants? It's close. I'd say that you know the jets the jets got some firepower over there And genos gonna be a big part of that. I mean, there's no throws on the field that he can't make And he's got a great arm controls the ball well. He's a big dude as you know and uh, yeah You got a running back that can do You got a fastball running backs. Yeah, but the number one is the one. Yeah, we're Yeah, and you know, so yeah the jets they got genos gonna have a chance the offensive line. It's not great, but it's good

Genos gonna have a chance to have some big games. I think because they're gonna get open Your buddy Frank Reich is gonna know when to call certain plays to make sure they get at least get a chance to get a big play out of it So I think they're in really good position and I get to like listen Geno likes to throw the ball down the field Frank likes to throw the ball down the field But Frank also loves a running back like Jonathan Taylor. I like he had in Indianapolis, right? So I think that's where breeze hall fits in and brown out and fits in that's gonna be a nice one to punch for them So they get back to the question you think the jets have the better see Yes Jackson dart's gonna make extra plays right he's gonna do special things run on the ball That's not Geno's thing Geno's gonna be in the pocket. He'll move a little bit and you'll run we could see that But you know, he's older now. He's gonna want to be in the pocket He'll get away from a pass rush here or there But maybe the difference between the two teams are the special plays that Jackson dart may bring for the giants Uh, yes, I agree with that I think you know the giants

With the one spot we got to look at that nobody talks about is the tight ends They weren't looked upon or tried they didn't try to get it. I say I like least here now. Yes So that's a big deal there and you know Patrick record to fullback I never even knew what he I didn't see him on the field once Well, we're gonna see we're gonna see him on opening night. I guarantee yeah, he I think he weighed in at three oh five He runs, you know, as I really watched him I went down to Miami. You know, we watched some scrimmage The Miami dolphins and I'm a it was hard to judge it because the giants won everything possible That you could win down there against another team. I mean they were killing the dolphins. I would think that with record In knowing John Harbaw the way we oh, well, I think we know him is that when Dallas comes here on that opening night It's gonna be like smash mouth like we're gonna try to run it down You throw type of stuff and and cam scataboo's gonna be like the lead dog in that in that regard. Yeah, I agree with that I mean, I get's about being the the bullies. That's what they've been talking about over there. Yeah

Yeah, it's a cock. It's what he want to be back like when you guys were playing like when you guys were good like you used to beat the hell out of teams Well, yeah, we were a big team and you know, so it's it's gone back to that, you know, and it's uh not only that It I was doing a lot of work yesterday. You just looking at stuff about the giants and you can't You worry a little bit about the secondary But every other positions on all the positions on the team they got backups and not just guys guys You know, it's really close. Who would you play? And the other thing is too Yeah, the high flying Dallas Cowboys and their passing attack, which is real The defense of front of the giants has to be kind of the difference in the game Yeah, they'll try to run it But they got to find a way to get to the quarterback. I think they have those people there enough talent to get it done So we'll find out soon. Where's your reaction to the darius latent release? Wasn't surprised at all. Yeah I mean kind of hanging around you know and watching practice all the time, which I didn't do it every day But I did it enough and

You know, I never heard a good word said about darius latent wow, you know, not a good word. You know, not a bad word either Not a bad word. Yeah, it's just just no words. It's just time. They want to move on Yeah, and that's just feels like there's not a ton of depth there. There's not so that's why releasing a guy who you know can play Was a little bit surprising, but I'm not saying that this guy did much in his career as a giant He certainly certainly didn't and there were some big drops on his resume But I just I guess they really really trust Who else is on the roster and and mooney maybe is someone and Malachi fields or two guys that they really really trust Which it sounded like John Harbour I yes, I asked John Harbour about Malachi fields. I'm like all right Oh, is my eyes lying to me or is this guy a really good player or going to be a good player? I listen he never disappointed in a practice, you know I've been watching and I go well. That was really good. Oh, that was really good And you know what I think really hit me and just I give up was when they went down and scrimmaged my amia one-on-ones

You know the old seven on seven then team he was great in all of them. Did he look? Did he look big to you? I could hear no He is big. I am so what I you know like sometimes we talk about wide receivers Well, you know that guy six one, but he really doesn't look like six one doesn't play six one plays like five eleven No, he plays big he this kid plays big That's why they drafted him. You know, that's why they moved up they get a big receiver. They got him It'll be interesting to see what they do. Well, he play You know the slot receiver a little bit just because of his sizing go inside and catch But the other thing is to remember The dairy is slating. I'm sure the judgment. I don't know this. I'm just saying it When they looked at it they go we want to keep these tight ends. We don't want to give one of them up So what are we going to do and so that's why you go right to dairy a slating and you know I didn't hear really any good words about him during training camp He was out there. He was trying his best I guess, but Not shocked that they let him go. It's the boomer in geo podcast from WFAN

All right, we're in geo on the fan and CBS sports network. It's a football Wednesday with the season kicking off tonight Patriots and see Hawks and we've got Phil Sims in studio all the way up until 10 a.m. He's going to join us every Wednesday During the football season so excited to have him back this year in studio everyone's there I probably know. Don't say it was such disappointment If it really wait if it really bothers you. Yes, then I'm coming Okay, I mean come on Yeah, and we'll then they'll recognize you downstairs and they won't give you such a hard time. What are you looking at on your computer there big boy? It says first class forget Broadway and YC's hottest audition is for fitness instructors I'm one of the city's most lux jims. Okay, I'm looking at okay. You have a lux jim then yeah, I still do oh you do yeah my basement Okay, I mean what are you you have laid out basically the entire blueprint of his home and where he lives oh, I did I did not know everybody knows where Phil Sims left room in that room that I really like

It's got a pool table and if you want to come over and shoot a little pool for some cash. I'm the man look at I love that okay. How's that fox doing out there still hanging in uh three three of them now okay They're hanging in I don't have to yell and uh go all the way out now I just yell put the food down. They come up really close to the house and heat I still yell okay I want to show you the boys before they come up. Yeah, put your headsets on if you want to hear some of the things that are playing underneath you oh really yes He probably doesn't want to hear I can't hear that well. Why don't you talk? I don't know. I you know, I'm I'm gonna turn it up over there. Yeah, it's a hill about blue my ears How does your son Matt deal with you and your podcast? Because he um knows I'm gonna say some stuff. Oh, okay. Okay. Is that is that make that clear? Yeah, you did Okay, you know that that thing that kind of keeps you from saying things Jerry It is real because I get older. I don't care I'm on basically most of time I'm gonna tell you the very good yeah no filter. What age does that happen at?

Well, I really happen for me the last year or so Okay, so if you want to wait till you're 70 then you become angry about everything then well boom I love Jerry guys have something in common. So, uh, Phil is going to hang around during the Jerry segment here when he's got an update for us. What's happening? Jerry brought you by town fair tire. Nobody beats town fair tire. No body. Uh, the NFL season begins true night in Seattle, Patriots and Seahawks looking forward to that. Though I do agree with Al. No buzz for this one. No, it's weird. There's more buzz for tomorrow and I think tonight. I agree. Very strange, but that's the way it goes. Superbowl rematch that, uh, will open up the season in terms of the Niners and the Rams. So we know that Aaron Donald did not travel to LA. So he's not playing and for the Niners Alfred Collins, uh, one of their starting defensive tackles done for the year. He suffered a torn patella tendon on the practice field yesterday. In Australia, man. Yeah. God. Yes. That's I mean, they, they are snake bit beyond belief.

Well, is it because they practice next to a, uh, power facility? Yeah. Yeah. I know. What lines and everything. But every time I saw him this year, it practiced on the field. It's the same field. They didn't change. I thought they were going to and they start to season with an injury before they even start with a good player. Yeah. Well, no, Aaron Donald. That's a good news for all to be there for the Giants though. That's the bad news for the Giants. Yeah. The Giants thought of that till now. Yeah. Yeah. But the Giants play the Rams after the Rams have to come flying back from, you know, Australia. I mean, they're right now as a matter of fact. They are the Rams. Yes. Crazy. Yeah. Okay. Uh, the Bucks gave Baker Mayfield a three year extension. $165 million as Boomer earlier. Do you feel like you really missed it? Me? No. Yeah. I thought you'd talk to Boomer. Did we miss it? That's you can't even, I don't know. We're not even in the same world. No, it is not the same. He got, he got a little bit of it when I was starting to get it. You remember, he's like five years old. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I, I, you could

put it out there if you want. I don't care. But I, I remember you telling me, I think you made a total of like seven million in your career. I don't know how much it wasn't much. But it's just, it was, you know, I, it wasn't long after I got out that it really changed. You know, where I just went through the roof about the money. Oh my god. That looks me. Joe Burrow and Danrow. Yeah. Look at the headline. Can I borrow a few bucks? Oh man. I actually made that much money. I didn't realize that. Where's your money? It's about 25. Yeah. Damn. That's pretty good. Why? No, I didn't make 25. Yeah. No. Oh well. Nobody cares. No one does care. No, let me rephrase that. My wife does. Yeah. You've done all right in your post career though. Yeah. I just all right. Exactly. Sunday to Jets will be in Tennessee. Here's Aaron Glenn, the update on their running back. Breeze Holland. It's a good one if you're a jet fan. Breeze would fall into that category of he's trending. The first category. Yeah. He's trending towards plan.

He'll be practicing this week. Yeah. Yeah. We'll be practicing this week. That is certainly good news for our jet fans. Last hour we had the media asking Aaron Glenn what a successful season will look like. This hour it's Garrett Wilson who has asked that question. It's a successful season. I would like to try to play off. No doubt about it. Playoff. And then she'll restart and see what happens. Nothing else. Nothing else. I mean, what is supposed to say? I four wins. Yeah. No. I mean, I just but you know what's going to have that same. These guys are just writing this down and when they don't make the playoffs. Oh, so it's not a successful season. You said it's a successful season with the playoffs. Is that mean your coach should be fired? Just like just don't say anything. I don't know. You think we ever heard this? I'm being serious. Prior to Yankee fans wondering if they didn't win the World Series. It was a with with Jeter calling it a failure. I don't feel like I ever heard that before. Jeter said that. Yeah. Maybe you're probably right. I think that this is a specific thing though because Aaron Glenn clearly on the hot seat after year one, which is crazy. How bad

it was. So, you know, what is that barometer in which Woody Johnson looks at this thing and says, I'm going to keep this guy as my head coach. I don't think anybody really knows that question. I'd the answer that question. Phil, Phil and I both know rookie offensive coordinator with a retread quarterback. It's not a good combination for a new head coach coming in for his first year. No, not at all because one that rookie guy, rookie coach has to come and establish himself. And that's hard to do. You know, so how about the rookie offensive coordinator with a retread quarterback? Yeah, that's even worse. Yeah. That is not good for a defensive head coach. Meantime Garrett Wilson, who went to Ohio State, was asked his thoughts of the way Michigan beat Western Michigan over the weekend with the review and the extra second being put back on the clock. Don't surprise me. Don't get in the knot. I want some some BS. And then he said he couldn't believe that they were all big 10 reps. But then again, that's the way it goes. And so I'm glad I'm glad that the Mac commissioner actually finally put out

a statement saying, you know, we are wanting this to be overturned because the protocol wasn't followed properly. And you know what and you know what the impetus that all of this was was all the social media and all the people out there talking about like the Mike Perrer is of the world talking about protocol and how things are supposed to be done under replay rules and how they were not followed in this case. And because the Mac initially came out and said, you know, we understand we were told and we understand the rules now. But then a day later, after all of social media was out there, just ripping the crap out of the big 10 and the way that this went down to Michigan, then the Mac responded to the difference. But they're appealing to who who's going to do what? Yeah. Well, they're going to try to overturn the, uh, the big 10 ink and overturning. Not the big 10 there's a there's a there's an NCA and then there's a FPS. Yeah, right. Rupert. Sure thing. Yeah. What do you call them feckless? Yes, I do call them feckless. Yes. Okay. No chance. My son was on TV. My old son Christopher and they

they killed it. Yeah, I mean, they killed it. And then you know, I thought, man, I was watching going, oh, maybe he might have went overboard there. You know, I mean, they got screwed, man. But no, they were touching and got screwed. Yeah, they definitely did. So the night giants cowboys, we hear from Jerry Jones on the fan and Dallas, he was asked his take of John Harbaw taking over big blue, nothing but great thoughts about him, his brother and the family. I have as much respect for him and his family, his brothers, his father. They are a football legacy family. Did I ever tell you that when I was with Jerry Jones once he thought he was talking to you when he was talking to me, like Zach Martin did earlier. Yeah, he was, yeah, he slapped him on the back and it was like, oh, my God, it's not bad. I hate playing against you, guys, old time. And I'm like, I hate the Dallas Cowboys. Hate everything you done with that dream. I'm a team sucks. I think sucks about everything that you do, Jerry. Oh, it's

fun. You know, listen, I told you, Jerry, Jerry Jones is the nicest owner I met in all the years. I was involved in doing games. And it was really, every time you'd see him, he'd just, whatever you need, that's my guy. That's it. I always said a nice Christmas ornament. Yeah, Christmas ornament. Yeah, a nice Christmas one. So here you go. I'm walking down the street in New Orleans. He's there just to watch the game years ago when the lights went out and there's a big white bus. I mean, it's huge. And I go, well, look at this. We're walking back to the hotel and I see the Cowboys star. And I see Jason Garrett and everybody getting off the bus and then all of a sudden we're kind of my wife and I and a couple were with. We look at the door on the truck and Jerry Jones standing in there and go, fail. Come on. Get in here. Come on. Come on. Come on. Let me make you a drink. Do you know, Jones making me a drink? I mean, I'm just, I'm just that that happened many times. First, the Super Bowl. He's in. He comes and practice. I'm watching the Cowboys. He goes, oh, I feel so excited. It goes just just pinch me. And I said, well, how about I just slept the

hill? And I swear, I said, yeah, I really said it worse than that. And he looks at me go, now, yeah, I'll be right. I'll be right. I'll be right. I'll be right. I'll be right. I'll be right. I'll be right. Joy Taylor, I guess on the Terrell on show, get to the point. Get it to T.O. to the point. Everyone's got a podcast these days as we know. So she's on there. I don't know who the co-hosts with T.O. is, but she starts telling the tale of a bad ex-boyfriend that she had. There's a reason why in the second clip, you'll hear what makes this such a bad clip. I was financially supporting a boyfriend. And he's on a couch, like playing video games and stuff. Like it's been going on for like a month now, because I was like, don't worry about it. I got the bills, but I'll allow. Yeah, you are sweet. You're a nice. Yeah. Where did I get for that? So I, he's like, I'm like, all right, look, it's it's been a while. Like we got to go job. Okay. So she's got to get a job. She has an idea for him, fair to say it, went sideways very quickly. Here's some money. Go out get a drink. Like clear your head.

Right? Tomorrow. He got a Florida drink. I'm I'm big mama. So he goes out and cheats on me with a stripper with the money that I gave. Oh my god. This is crazy. Really leaning into it. So I hadn't heard that. I was wondering. It was the ex-boyfriend that I met of hers. Who had the last same last name as me. His name was Rich Gianati. It was kind of swear to God. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Strangest thing. So my dad's name is Rich Gianati. He used to follow. He played baseball at Miami. My dad would follow his career just because he thought it was cool. It was a Rich Gianati played baseball at Miami. One day he reaches out to me when I'm working in Pittsburgh. It was great last name. He's like, I'm coming in for Thanksgiving with my girlfriend. And it's show up there. It's it's Joy Taylor. It's the girlfriend. So I was like, man,

I wonder if it's that guy until the stripper story because no, he would that wouldn't be him. He would not be banging the stripper. I don't just play video games for a month with her money. No, no way. Absolutely not him. This guy's the guy's the man. That's a tough one. The Yankees beat the Rockies five to three. The return of Aaron judge. He got three at bats. He did play right field pulled after six. And then Elliott Ramos came in for him at a three run home Orion. Man snapping a one one tie with an RBI double in the fifth Yankees 82 and 62. But still trailing the raise by four games because the raise beat the Braves seven to one. They did however clinch their 34th consecutive winning season. Series continues tonight. Will Warren on the mound on the fan at seven oh five. The meds beat the Marlins seven to five. Francisco Lendor one. So dobert Bady all homer Robert stock Jace Jansen junk. The starters later tonight. The meds have one six of eight. I know it is what it is. What Scott versus junk? Stalk. Yeah, stock junk. Yeah, stock junk. Yeah, stock junk. Yeah, at the US Open Ben Shelton beat the defending champion Carlos Alcaraz and five sets that ended

at three thirty this morning. So he advances and apparently Landry Shamit was a credentialed photographer. Huh, which was pretty wild. I was told Jordan Clarkson left it two a.m. He did not stick the entire time. That's what I was texted. And Jessica. That's cool. And Jessica Pagula beat Emma Navarro and three sets to advance as well. It's the boomer in Geo podcast from WFAN. Hi, boomer in Geo on the fan and CBS Sports Network. We have Phil Sims in studio. He's going to join us every Wednesday during the football season. I do have a question though about the broadcasting part of your life because something happened. You know, something happened last night during the Yankee game. I want to know if you've ever experienced anything like this. So Aaron Judge comes back. It's his first game back at ninety nine days. That was a cool thing, right? Right. So as he's coming up to bat for the first time Yankee Stadium. There is a moment where the crowd is giving him a standing ovation. And Dave Sims and Susan Waldman in the booth want to make sure that the radio

audience can hear the standing ovation. However, Dave Sims, he's doing play by play. Susan's been there for a million years. I'm sure that you're familiar with Susan. Dave Sims, he, he arm shushed her where he put his arms out here. It's right here. See? He puts his arms out there. And he does an arm shush to the great Hall of Famer. Susan Waldman. Nance, ever do something like that to you? No, I don't think he did. Yeah. If he would, I'd have broke his arm. So I'm reading this right. This is tough. Yes. I listen and heard y'all talking about it. Now, I did. I'm not going to tell you what it is. That's the way it is. But I did work with somebody once. He did this. The ball. He jumped up, put his arms out way out. Not like this. That's, though, he did this. The guy that did it to me was like this. I mean, he spread eagled and to tell you to like, don't say anything. And I basically just said, oh, yeah. I mean,

I, what do you think I'm an idiot? Of course, I wasn't going to talk about it. I mean, like, middle tension. I guess that's happened. I did that to you on the NFL today a couple of times. Hey, I said, I walked to the hand, talked to the hand over here. Here we go. Yeah, we go. I you know what I need back there, Al, if you get me two cookies, I'll show you a boomer move that he did. It's on our pregame shows at CBS. You want me to kind of tell you how it went? Sure. Yeah. We all have to do updates. You just one to next. You know, you keep giving away. And you know, our boy over there is out in a hallway scarf and food because they have food up and down the opposite live update. And the producer kind of can't think of it. Producer's name. Drew. Yeah, Drew. Drew Kuliski. Drew goes. He's your boomer boomer. And all of a sudden, Gio, boomer comes running in and he has a cook big cookie in one hand and he smashed

in the other one. And he stops in front of the TV goes, and cookies are flying out. Yeah, listen, I've seen it all. Well, they're trying to win like I'm talking and saying something I'm in a groove and I could see he's like, this is a good time to pop an Oreo. I think I could I think I could finish it before he's dumb talking. One was amazing though. He had both hands. The one was the cro- the cookie he smashed and the other one, oh my gosh. We laugh for hours over that one hundred percent. Can't get you two cookies here and give you a chunk of a spestus that's on the ground that just fell from the ceiling, but we cannot get you two cookies. So I did read that right that that felt a little tough there with Dave Sib and Susan Walman that if you were Susan, you'd probably be like, yeah, I mean, I know not to say anything. I, yeah, it's not my thing. But you know what, too, I just to pick up for Dave a little bit is the fact that he's probably done that most of his career. And whoever he's with or working, they got it. Well, the only reason he's here is because she wanted him here. Yeah, is that it?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, she was a big part of the reason. Yeah, yeah, I mean, of course you want to go to her and you want to say, who do you want to work with? And she says Dave Sib will be great. So, anyway, anyway, whatever, whatever you think, Rome was going to work for CBS again. Yeah, I would, I don't know, you know, look, I don't know. Yeah, I really don't. Is it best the longer it goes? Is that help him or does it hurt him? It's a good question. I don't know. I was, I was a little surprised that they had JJ walked there like ready to go at that moment. And when I saw that, I was like, Oh man, which you know, it's so close to the season, they had to make a decision. They have to do something. And only they know behind the scenes what's truly going on. We don't know. We're only speculating. But I would also say that I give Tony a lot of credit for the statement that he put out. The statement was perfect. I thought it hit all the things that you want to hit when you are trying to apologize for something that you made him stay. Well, you know, listen, yeah, you're trying to apologize. You're trying to save your job. Of course, you know, boy, of course you expect that. Yeah. And that's what he put in the end. He said, you know,

and eventually my return to CBS. So I guess he's got some sort of expectation that he'd be back. I don't know if that was put in there by a lawyer or not. But I would like to think that, you know, these guys have, he's worked for CBS for how long now? I have no clue. 10 years, 12 years. That much. Wow. When did you start on the NFL today? But year, do you remember what year that was? Nope. That's great. I want to say that was probably like when I was starting here with you. So, so he's been there for nine years. Oh, it's would have been his ninth year. This would have been. Yeah. So he's been there for eight years. I mean, like they know each, I mean, like everybody's friends. I mean, I'd like to think when we were there anyway, it's CBS. We all got along. It's. Oh, yeah, we did. Never. Never. So five is never a problem. Yeah. And if his contract maybe wasn't his contract and he wasn't getting paid so much, maybe that would be a different conversation as well. So part of it. So back to football tonight. I want to ask you about tonight's game real quick. We got a minute here. So Clint Kubiak becomes the head coach

of the Vegas Raiders. Okay. Right. And now all of a sudden, Sam Donnell has a new offensive coordinator. This guy, Brian Flurry, I think his name is came from San Francisco. How big of a difference is that going to be for San Donald this year? I don't think it's going to be a big difference at all. I mean, between that group, it's amazing. How many coaches come from the tree? Yeah. I mean, and then some of them running the offense, the Kyle Shanahan basically taught them all, you know, every one of them. You name the guy in the cabinet. I don't know. Yeah. There's many of them. But no, I don't think it will at all. I think it's going to be something fresh for San Donald. In other words, oh, some new stuff to learn. Well, he's one guy who's gone through it many, many times, right? It's fine. I get mad at this stuff all the time. Really, and I just say things to people and I call their name out because I hate it. They just look at the quarterback rating. No, judge the quarterback on what's around him. Who's the coach and what's his talent? Then tell me what you think, but oh, they lost. Well, you know, his QBR was all the QBR.

Get me going. Yeah. Well, we get you going. But you think that it's going to be okay for Sam. But I do. It's interesting. Is it Mike Shanahan that deserves all this credit or is it Kyle? Yes, it's my no. Mike started it. Yeah. And he gathered them all together when he went down to Washington. Yeah, he had them all on there. And then when they show him everybody. Yeah. And then when they, it's amazing. How many of them were there and how successful most of them had been? What do you think? Real quickly before we go to break Mike McDaniel and San Diego with Justin Herbert? I will be shocked. I'll be no, I'm not shocked. I'll be very disappointed that it's not really, really good. Like really good. I know you, well, you don't like Justin Herbert. No, no, I do. No, I like Justin Herbert. There's just a couple of things. I don't, I think Mike McDaniel is a tough guy in a locker room. And since he's left Miami and I understand it's easy to do now. It's low-hang fruit. But he's gotten crushed by players and media out there. So I think I'm paying attention at. And also this canoe daling that he was doing on the field during the practice.

Like you can Justin Herbert, you mean Justin Herbert's canoe daling with his with his fiance sitting down on a ground in a train again. Is that a guy? I mean, who's going to win a Super Bowl? Man, I'll tell you. Yeah, I don't know what to say. Some of these things that go on. Did you see this? I didn't see it. I heard it. But I said, why don't you look at it? You got a burrow. Did it too? No, no, no, they were just talking. They were just talking. They were just talking. Boomer. What? What would the code say to you of that? Oh my gosh. What would my teammates say? Oh, they would just sit there would kill us. Yes, they would roast us. Yeah, I mean, they were used like on the ground. They were both sitting on the ground. They're like Indian style. You know what they're legs crossed. Yeah, yeah. And you reach your foot. You know, I mean, I really like Justin Herbert. We're both to. Yes. And I many things. But there you go. Okay, here we go. It's on the fricking practice field. Once I did it with four women. That is so bad.

That is bad, right? That's so bad. That's really bad. I don't care if he'd even won in the quarterback if he was just whatever, I'd still say that's bad. You think the teammates are on them? Oh, my well, the teammates probably love it because they're going to ride him until I hope so. Maybe that's the thing that the teammates just ride him so hard that it becomes a funny issue instead of I guess you read all the articles about out there. No, no, no, I didn't. I didn't see any. I was just judging by my own reaction. Like I just that and being in an environment not at the level of being a pro, but just having ball busting people in your life and knowing that a football locker room is ball busting people to see your quarterback who gets paid by more than anybody. Yeah. Sitting out there with your your pop star girlfriend as she's put your fingers through your hair on the practice field. You know what? It's the boomer in Geo podcast from W F A N. Hi, former in Geo comedy alive for the build forward tough studio on the fan and

CBS sports network. When you give us a call, it's on the red pocket mobile fan line brought you by your new ultimate cell carrier red pocket mobile. We've got Phil Sims in studio until 10 a.m. He's going to join us every Wednesday during the football season. Still have a lot more to get to with Phil. We were just talking about the locker room reaction when Justin Herbert is doing this PDA session with Madison beer on the practice field and what the locker room would say. What do you think the locker room was saying when they found out in San Francisco that their owner was caught trying to get a prostitute in a trailer park in Ohio? Wow. So that's your question. Yes, it is. Yeah, it is. Yeah. I basically probably had a little chuckle and all that and it was it's over. And that's it. They don't think about it again. The players. Well, no, I don't think so unless they seem they might walk by me. Oh, there's a guy there. You know, yeah, but yeah, I it's got to be tough for him to walk back into that situation, right? He's got to show how I don't know how prevalent he really is around. No, you know, he is kind of like a like a distant owner doesn't get he's the

owner that every coach wants. Right. I'm not in the mickens. Those at it. Right. And let's say John Lynch and Mike. Kyle Shannon knows the stuff. You think he's on the trip to Australia. I would say no. Oh, God, no. Why would you want to sit on the plane? And you know, every time we walked down the plane. No, that would be a top one. Okay, I'm not trying to be funny here. I just find it. And you know what? I heard about this and whatever. And it's okay. There it is. And I'll never think about it again. Really? Yeah. I mean, I think about these things a lot. You know, once it happens, and I'm thinking, I've noticed that over the years, you do, why is he doing that? Is it a gay prostitute? Maybe that's the reason why these are the things I don't know, but it would make more sense to me if it was. Because then it'd be like, you know, you're a billionaire. You feel you get a woman anywhere. But if he's the closeted guy, maybe he's trying to do the backhanded dealings with the gay prostitute. That's what I thought. Okay. Yeah. You hear that drilling? Yeah. That's nice. Really high-end studio. It is. All right. So you just, you'd say you'd have a chuckle about

if you were in the locker room and then you wouldn't say that. Yeah. Yeah. It's not a good thing. You know, because the locker room is tough as it is. In other words, it's tough in however, by action, there's some, it's really fun, but it's very serious, too, of course, because three quarters of the locker room is worried about their job. That's exactly right. And at the end of the day, they'll probably have fun at his expense behind his back. Yeah. And maybe they wouldn't get upset with him if he ends up getting cut, or they don't want to give a certain player contract or something like that. That also could exacerbate the problem. But I would say that most of the players probably had a good laugh at his expense. I'm sure they did. Yeah. Yeah. I didn't make Kyle Shan, it says, look, I haven't even seen Jed York. I haven't seen him at all. He hasn't been around. I know. Well, one of the things, while they, I hate to say it this way, too, they do so well. There's no intruders out in San Francisco. It's the coaching staff, the people that help them and whatever and the players. They just get guys hurt all the time, which is amazing. It's really, the injury, and it took the injuries around the league. I'm just astounded every day, because I just

don't remember, yeah, of course, when we played and on that, he just never hurts so much about injuries. And then John Harboh said that, you know, we get you lose a guy. It feels like it's the end of the world. And you talk about injuries, you know, our old friend Daniel Jones is coming back off another injury, right? And, you know, I don't know. So another, they're projected to win that division. I think Houston still is, but I think that quarterback CJ Stroud is under huge pressure to perform this year, especially after what happened to him in the playoffs. Yeah. If they'd just kneeled on the ball for like two quarters, they were going to win. Yeah. And you know, I think, I would actually say this about Houston watching him last year, they could win the Super Bowl. I'm watching the game going just fall on the ball or just take a knee, run. Why are we keep trying to throw it? I felt like they, I felt like they had the best overall defense in the league last year. Boomer, I would hate to play their defense. Yeah. I think they have a chance to go to Super Bowl when this year. I think the defense is that good. And you know, who they got opening week,

Josh Allen's got to go down there. Let me tell you, and he doesn't play well down there. Hell no, because that defense is fast, ferocious. That defense in Minnesota. Okay, give him to me once a year, but that's all I want to see of him. Yeah. You mentioned the pressure that is on CJ Stroud. And Josh Allen right now, I think is looked at as the best quarterback in football. There was a coaching change. They've got a new stadium. He's right in the middle of his prime. I feel like this is a big Josh Allen year when it comes to his legacy and everybody's going to be looking at him. And sometimes that's not fair. But he's making the money and he is the guy and he's an MVP. He's got to get to the Super Bowl this year. Doesn't he? Doesn't he have to get there? I think everybody's saying that and I understand why you do say it, but I would just, it never even occurred to me to think that they have a Super Bowl roster. You know, like what did I say to the one of the first saying just say, Hey, the league is about big people right now. I mean, big

people. Yeah. Just incredible. And when I look at them, just in preseason, but just knowing their team, I go, they're small still. They believe and they drafted for years. We just want speed guys. And that's great. But I look at your defensive line and just go, wow, it's pretty, you know, there's not enough meat up there. They get pushed around. They can get run on. And they win because of, you know, his magic and all that. So if you think this is going to be a special year for Josh Allen, I don't, I don't quite see it that way. By the way, you know, this is like one of the tougher opening games of the season to figure out because nobody really knows what to get. They're going to get Nico Collins back for Houston. They didn't have in the playoffs last year. But everybody wonders whether or not Buffalo's defense is good enough. That's what I mean, the quarterback is so spectacular that he makes so many things go away. So many problems go away. But ultimately, you know, that team has got to live on turnovers. And then he's got to convert those turnovers into touchdowns.

Well, the head coach, you know, whatever, the coordinator now to Josh Allen, I can't, oh, let, who's the decordinator? I'll top my head. Leonard Pat Leonard. No, Jim Leonard. Jim Leonard. So, Pat Leonard, he's a tough guy. I'm not related, by the way. Yes, I'll not. Hard thing. So, but yeah, that's going to be interesting. He's the defense of coordinator with this unit. What's he going to do to really what's going to be the thought that he gives that defense that's going to make him better? But I mean, the favorites for the AFCs, would you say them and the Patriots? Well, yeah, one of those two sure. Yeah, but I mean, are in your eyes are they the favorite to win the division? I would say I would take the Patriots. You would take the Patriots. Yes. Man, it's going to be a right. If the Buffalo bills don't win the division and go out in the first round this year, I mean, Brandon being can't like survive any longer, Kenny. I mean, for God's sakes, he's the one who's putting this roster out there. McDermott is the scapegoat last year. I mean, if they with Josh Allen and his

prime, a bomb out this year, I mean, that's got to be a full regime change. I mean, they've gone through scapegoat and after scapegoat after scapegoat, you know, it's Leslie Frazier. Yeah, the scapegoat when they lost the Kansas City championship game. That was their super bowl team. Yes. They were Kansas City was at their height of all their high fly and you can't beat them. They've got them beat. Yeah. And they let him score with 13 seconds left to tie. Honestly, some of the worst decisions in history, not I'm not going to say history, but that was huge what they did and how they defended the play didn't kick it off, run the time off the clock. And they protected the sidelines. Well, this is God name. Kelsey that goes down the middle two times and they kicked the winning field. What happened there? The other team out there that's going to be really interesting is going to be Sean Payton's then for Broncos because they too have a top-tier defense. Yes. Bo Nick's gets hurt going into the playoffs last year. Jared's did him has to play

the Patriots beat them. I mean, you know, a lot of things happened right for the Patriots last year. You know, I watch a lot of TV. Unfortunately, I said at my desk and I'll put all the sports shows and I listen. But the bone nicks, they just like, well, you know, he's not that good. It's all a hear. Do you? I mean, come on. What do you want him to do? He's dynamic throwing the football down the field. He runs around. He's a big damn dude. He's kind of like Jackson. Start for them. Yeah, yes. That's a really good analogy. Thank you. But I think he's a little more mobile at this point. You know, he they get him outside the pocket a lot. They have nothing that seems like I always tell my son Matt. He goes, well, what do you think? I go, Sean Payton once again has found 50 different ways to throw the football 40 yards down the field. That's where I always say, yeah, Joe Baton coaches him tough. Yeah. Oh, of course, that's who he is. Yeah. Well, you either you either got to, you know, play for him and play the way he and Drew breeze was in here with us. He was to say that. Yeah. Sean was pretty tough on. I called Sean. I was going to do a game down there.

And it was late at night. I just had to know something. So I said, I'm going to call him. It's too late. It's 11 o'clock and on a Thursday and phone rings. Yeah. Hello. And I go, Hey coach, it's Phil Simpson. Hey, Phil, how you doing? Man, what's going on? This is, you know, it's pretty close. I go, I'm thought maybe he goes, Oh, no, I got the whole staff in here. We've got her feet up or having a beer and we're just trying to come up with some new stuff. You got anything? The shocking part about that story, you were up at 11 o'clock. Jesus. Well, it was a different part of my life. I have to ask you about that. I think one of the the bad decisions and I liked a lot of the decisions that were made by both the jets and giants in this off season. One of the bad decisions was not having an adequate backup plan for Gino Smith in a year that Aaron Glend S is in the jackpot because if Gino Smith goes down for any amount of time or plays like he did last year, here we go again with another guy who shouldn't be on the field in a jets uniform at the quarterback position and then we have another head coach and a whole hamster wheel of turrets starts again. Do you think that Kate Klobnik could go in and win

some football game for the jets if needed this year? It would be this way that if he does have to play, it would be extremely conservative and they would do with him in a bigger scale than they tried to during the whole preseason. If you watch it, it's a lot of play action, move the pocket throw, it's short, let's throw a couple screens all of a sudden you're five for five for 14 yards. But you know, the whole damn league does that with these young quarterbacks. So, you know, and whatever he faced, like let's take the giant game. The giant game got a little rough with their backup. So they were all over it and you could see there's a little difference in Kate Klobnik at that time. Well, he's also playing, he's also playing with guys that he hadn't played with nothing. You know, he's out there and it's a whole different set of circumstances than playing with the number ones. Right. Well, they didn't play the number ones much at all. Well, his first preseason game, he played well. Yes, everybody was talking with OK too, but it's the third when the giants rough them up a little. But what he faced there, you can't even, you know what, Bloomberg,

you, of course, we know it. That different unit, the starting defenses with game plans, man, that's rough. So that would be my thought on it. I know right away, seven man protections, play action passing, rolling in guys out, that's how you protect the young. Yeah, you do, but the defense is going to, they're going to get the hang of that really quick. Yeah, but I mean, it's saying you're not going to be sending five guys out. That's for sure. No, but I heard you talking about it a little bit and everything and it's true. But right away, they're in camp what three days, K club, that K club, that K. I like him. I saw him throw one day, he came up by my house. I went over and stood behind watching my family's and he's a good looking thing. You know, he's six, three, you know, what do you have to do? Good, good looking, you're big and thick. He's got that. He stands behind guys and just checks out how thick they are. It's just one of those things that like jet fans, and I understand why in Brown's fans, the same thing when they get a young, unknown player who they haven't seen play yet, they still dream that he could be the guy. So

it happens year after year after year. And it's really not fair to K club. I could do put those type of expectations on him when you guys a day two draft pick. Yeah. And draft him number four. We're all you draft them in the fourth round. Well, what you do to me, you really work him hard, do all that stuff, but you have a guy like you're saying that if something does happen in Gino, we know we have a veteran backup who's been in some wards and can get the best out of our players. You cannot expect that from a rookie coming in doing what they asked him to do and how much of they gone forward since the preseason games. Well, nowhere. That's all about Gino and they getting them ready to go now. Oh, man, I just hope that, you know, you know, it doesn't go down the Aaron Rodgers thing. First game. Oh, god, forget it. The season's over. Yeah. Put your headphones on for a second. We have a caller here for you. And that's Nick in Vernon. Nick, you're on with Boomer G. Oh, and Phil Sims. Good morning, gentlemen. How are you? Great. Nick. What's up?

Good. I have a very funny story. I don't know if I'll remember this or not. It's about a month ago or so. My wife was talking to you at your grandson's seven on seven tournament. And she spoke you for the good half hour, 40 minutes. She comes home, she's gone. It's really, really nice. Older man. He was wearing like a fucking cap. He was under him. Broward. Really hot out. I was talking to him for a good half hour, 40 minutes. And I had no clue who he was. I get home, look at the highlights and look at the pictures. She's like, Hey, I meant to say I go Kelly. I go, that's Phil Sims. We're the old times giant's greatest. You kidding me? You know who that is? I remember. Yeah. Yes. It's really. It's embarrassing. But I go watch the seven on seven. I sit in a stance. I have to sit under an umbrella. Yeah. Because damn that son. And you know, I'm good for us. Definitely not. So yeah. So I, it's him. I hate doing it, but I always take it. The nice older man underneath the umbrella. Yeah. Well, she was right. He was right.

Take a quick break. You're rocking chair with you too or now. Hey. I'm sorry. Soon enough in due time. I'll talk about that later. It's the boomerangio podcast from WFAN. All right. From a geo on the fan and CBS sports at network Phil Sims with us until 10 AM. We got a Jerry Ruck Jerry Rackle update. And then I know Phil's got some, some thoughts on the two big rookies on the defensive side of both the jets and giants. We will get to as well at David Bailey and Arvel Reese. What's happening? Jerry. Well, good morning to you. We are brought to you by town fair tire. Nobody beats town fair tire. Nobody. This is how the morning started discussing the Yankees when the big man was back. Listen to this crowd. Daners. I kept them as back everybody. Everybody's standing in this entire place. Yes. He did not say penis in the middle of that. That was a Rami clip. But yeah, no, that was Aaron Judges back. He did go

over three, but but but the Yankees did get a big one over the Rockies five to three because the guy who replaced him did this. Trying to get something done here. Swing on that'll do it. Deep right field. Lot of carry on the track. Goodbye. Into the bullpen of three man. Humber. That was very early at Ramos again, Dave Sims here on the fan Ramos replacing judge and right field judge six innings. Oh, for three. As we mentioned, but the Yankees do win five to three first tears judge. Well, well, you know what? I'm going to play this instead. So the Yankees win Schletler was really good again. The Yankees have now as an organization had 34 consecutive winning seasons. Judges was asked about that in the post game. And he had a very Yankee like response or the Yankees. We're going to win. So that's it's a great street, but I think everybody in the show was worried about about champion driven, which they have not one in a long time. The way the question was posed with you rather be a winning team every single year for 34 years or you know, win a world series once

in a while and have a lot of downtime too and a lot of down years win every year, man. Sell out, enjoy the season. You just never know. And you know, they're getting healthy now in September. That's the key. And that will be the key for every team. And whether or not the Dodgers are going to be quite as healthy because they're, you know, kind of sitting show a autonomy a little bit now. They're not pushing him. You're kind of winning games again. No, no, no, simply. I mean, they these it's a collision course between these two teams unless somehow Milwaukee or Tampa Bay or Philly or Philly. Yeah. You think the Braves are now. I picked the Philly's go the world series. You did. Yes. Yes, I did. Yanky stay four games behind Tampa in the A at least as the raise did breed the beat the brave seven to one junior Caminero hit his 39th home run of the season. And that game Freddie Peralta six innings for the win. The meds beat the Marlon seven to five. That series continues tonight with Robert stock on the mound. We'll warrant pitches for the Yankees later tonight. I want to get to see I'm going to go to the college football here CBN sports network. I'm

sorry. I'm kind of jumping ahead. But a couple of things I found from college football some nice pieces of audio. So Rutgers is going to make a change at quarterback. They're going with AJ Sarase on Friday night at BC. We know about that game. And we'll talk more about that on Friday, the September 11th game. But in terms of Rutgers, just because these clips were pretty good, great Shiano yesterday was asked about the UMass loss. What have these last few days been like and how have you seen the team responds to the loss that you guys had on Thursday night? Yeah, look, I'm not naive to the fact. You know, we laid an egg. We were the national punchline. Yeah, it's embarrassing. And then he would go on and say that was really bad. Embarrassing that that we coached and played the way we played. And it starts with me and ends with me. It's my job to get him ready to play. We didn't do that. But that's in the past. That was whatever many days ago. He said, can't run from the loss. Got to just learn from it and move on. And so they will move on to a road game Friday night at Boston College. Now we've talked about the SEC

and LSU this morning. Tuesday, the SEC amended its federal lawsuit and disclosed that the conference presidents and chancellors would meet Thursday to consider terminating LSU's SEC membership. Probably not going to happen. But okay, that was the story yesterday. So they found Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana. Oh, this guy's great. And he reacted to that news. That's bone deep down to the marrow stupid. I've got I've got rocks in my driveway that are smarter than that. He would go on to say, LSU is going nowhere. Then I'm going to throw LSU out of the S&C. Let me tell you something. I had a lot of other people in the United States Congress. What will be on them like a hobo on the hamstand? First two hobos. And then lastly, LSU is fine. LSU hadn't done anything wrong. It's called a court of all.

God made course to the side dispute. I mean, I'd be serious. I was in a bingo night. By the way, what's going on in the background? I don't know. There was a very odd setting. I would agree. So you did have that. It's probably at the Capitol. No, I know, but it just, but it sounded weird and it looked even weird if you actually saw it. All right, a couple of things from the NFL. We've got the Patriots and the Seahawks. Later tonight from Seattle, the Seahawks winning the Super Bowl, being New England back in February. So a rematch of sorts. Then tomorrow night, you've got the Niners and the Rams from Australia. No, Aaron Donald in that game did not travel with L.A. The big contract of Baker may feel three years 165 million dollars from the Bucks. And he got it. I guess he said once the season began, no negotiations. So they got in with the extension right before the season did it begin. Geno Smith, couple from him. He's a veteran now. Takes nothing for Granity as a team captain for the Getsjets. We'll start in Tennessee on Sunday. I find myself just looking forward to each and every day coming to work and giving it my all

for these guys. And so it's really special to my family and I. And we look forward to like I said every single day. And then there was Garrett Wilson, who's not a captain this year at a very mature take on it. I don't know if obsessed the word. It's more of like, man, we got a collection of guys that all weren't that that label. And Geno got it for the offense. Now I play, remember the Gary V. Clips. I played earlier. Yeah. We had the Jake Asman tweet that said the Jets hadn't won on a season opening Sunday week one Sunday in 11 years. If you look on social media, he got into it pretty good with a fan who I guess misunderstood the whole week one Sunday and gave a couple of examples of games they did win on Monday nights or Sunday nights. He called one a j off. You can figure out what that means. The other guy called him a butt wipe. Interesting. It kind of went back and forth. Yes. As they misunderstood one another and then Sunday night, Jets and Cowboys,

a game that Phil is very much into here is as we found out and more from him in a moment. Jerry Jones on the fan and Dallas. He is hoping for a big, big year from his Cowboys. It's kind of like cooking it up. You got it. The ingredients here. Let's see how it comes together. And I'm excited. I'm excited for our plans. It's important that we have some good things happening. Yes. It's been rough stretch having up into the NFC championship game in forever. So you do have that and that game will be Sunday night. And then lastly, US Open. So this match started at around 11.05 PM and ended at 3.33 in the morning. Ben Shelton beat the defending champion Carlos Alcaraz and five sets. Here was Shelton on ESPN after the match. He goes kind of late. I'm just hoping that my best friend and my sister over there don't have to be at work at 6 AM in three hours. It'd be huge from their employers to let them have the day off today. But then the video pans to Trinity Rodman, his girlfriend. And you can see her say, but what about me? He doesn't mention her in that. But he did

advance. He will face Francis Ciafo in the semi finals. And Jessica Pagula beat Emma Navarro in three sets. She has reached the US Open. Semi's. She gets the defending champion Arena Sabah Lanka. All right. Moment of the day. So Phil Simms is in studio. So only fitting that he is featured in moment of the day. Last hour, he related story of his past meetings with Mr. Jerry Jones. I'm walking down the street in New Orleans. He's there just to watch the game years ago when the lights went out. And there's a big white bus. I mean, it's huge. And I go, well, look at this. We're walking back to the hotel and I see the cowboy star. And I see Jason Garrett. And everybody getting off the bus. And then all of a sudden, we're kind of my wife and I on a couple were with. We look at the door on the truck. And Jerry Jones standing in there and go, Phil, come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Let me make you a drink. Jerry Jones making me a drink. I mean, I'm just that happened many times. First, the Super Bowl he's in. He comes and practice. I'm watching the Cowboys. He goes, oh,

feel like so excited. He goes, just pinch me. And I said, well, how about I just slap the hill? I said, I really said it worse than that. And he looks at me go now. Yeah. There you go. Moment of the day. It's the Boomerangio podcast from WFAN. Hi, we're in geo on the fan and CBS Sports Network Phil Sims in studio for a few more minutes. So two guys that we have heard a ton about that we're hoping are major impact players and right away for both the Jets and Giants are Val Reese and David Bailey. So what have you seen early on from them in camp that either get you excited or maybe makes you think that they need some more time. David Bailey, you know, whatever I didn't go to any jet practice, whatever. So I started watching him during the preseason games. And I'd watch every play when he's in there. And when he had the opportunity on third down or whatever it's passing situation, wow, can he go around the corner? I mean, it's it's special. And you know, he played in Texas

tech. Of course, they'd let a lot and he took advantage of it. What do you have? 14 sacks his last year and everything. So it's everything that I think they thought he would be. I see it. I've seen it so far in the preseason games. So I expect to see it when he when he plays against the Tennessee Titans. Little bit easier to play. I'm gonna say easier defensive than it is. Like a stand up outside inside linebacker and get screwed up with offenses, especially in offense like the Dallas Cowboys. So our Val Reese. Oh, yes. I mean, freak of nature athletically looks the part the whole bit. But when you're the stand up linebacker in the middle of that football field, I mean, you can get lost at times. And there's going to be things he's going to have to learn and it's going to be baptism under fire. Yeah, it's really interesting. Of course, he's another one. You know, these guys, you know, just may I get amazed by the talent and the skill that then they come in the league and our Val Reese, John Harball was sitting there talking to us.

A little bit and he goes, oh, there's white seed. They can roll up the bill. Because because he's explosive by being inside Boomer, we don't say they're too often in the pro football world. Yeah, he can go outside, make those tackles. He can crash the line of scrimmage and get it done. He's fast. He, you know, but there's a learning curve when you're off the ball, as opposed to when your hands and to dirt like David Bailey, one of the players want to ask you about. And, you know, we haven't heard a lot about him at all dorm preseason. We heard a lot about him in the off season, especially when he attacked his quarterback and that was abdool quarter. Oh, and, you know, all of a sudden, quiet off season gone about his business. You see a marked improvement in him from last year. Yes. I thought last year he turned it on late in the year. Everyone got benched in the first quarter of that game for him later. Yeah, that'll do it, you know, a little motivation. But yeah, he's, when you watch him, you know, I just go, wow, they made the right pick when it was their turn the year before. He shows

all everything that you want, you know, and Tivado too, you know, he's a guy that shows up every once a while in the games, those preseason games, but he shows up in practice also. So the giants, I'll be, as a fan, I'll be disappointed if they're front seven or whatever you want to say, doesn't play well because they have size and they definitely have the speed to compete with any football team right now. What about Malik neighbors? Are we going to see him play week one? Man, that would be awesome. I don't know. They, they, I've heard nothing that makes me think, but you watching workout and all that stuff and I saw him a lot working at practice. You can't tell that he ever got, he was hurt or anything was bothering him because he was running full speed, cutting full speed and man, I hope he does get a chance to run and cutting full speed. That means mentally he's over the injury. Good point. Yeah. Right. Yeah. I mean, I, I would think you would hold back as opposed to really letting it go and maybe, maybe they're worried, maybe they think another week, I just can't imagine that. I think I got to have him out there. Yeah, you know,

is I just sitting here today, you were talking, I looked at the depth of the wide receivers for the giants and I go, wow, I mean, come on, are they going to put six tight ends in there? We need some receivers. Yes. So I keep waiting for the waiver wire, maybe something's going to happen, but it's, it's too late for that too. So I, I guess just talking about this and looking at what they got, there's a pretty good chance we might see Malik neighbors. Yeah. And we forget how many games that Jackson, Darn Malik neighbors didn't play in together last year and those guys getting off to a great start and building that chemistry is imperative for this offense. Where do you stand about the, with the running back room right now with the, with the giants? You know, it's working progress. You know, they're trying to, the one thing he, I heard John Harbals say and I just took he goes, are running backs there? They get what they're supposed to, but they don't get extra, you know, so it come, it really has come to this, Naji Harris is there, you know, so that's going

to be a big deal because he's the guy that can has enough speed. And if he can just turn to go down field, he's going to run over people. That's why they got him. You know, that's, well, the other thing too is the real question is can Cam Skatibou make it through 17 games? Well, that's a good question too, but damn as he talented. I mean, when they drafted him, I was there, what are they doing taking him? I watched him in college. I, he's a novelty act, whatever. And then after about three practices I went to and watched him a few pre-season games ago, I was totally wrong. He is, he can cut, he can cut, he can run, he can touch, I mean, everything, you know, even in the pre-season games, what little bit it was, he was in and the scrimmage down there in Miami, he really showed off what, what a telly is. Yeah, he's just a hilarious person too. When a team is good and they've got a character like that on the team is contributing. I mean, it's just, you know, he, there'll be more Skatibou jerseys than just about, just about anybody, but you just worry about, I mean, how long can a

guy play football like that? I mean, those are the two biggest questions around Jack, Jack's, dark end games. I know one thing about running backs, you better know who you're responsible for in past blocking. Well, we learned that first pre-season games. We did, I run Tracy, you know, you know, it was interesting because I watched the game and you guys were doing the game, everybody thought the blitz was coming to the left, you know, and you could see the, everybody was looking out there and everything, but the blitz came to the right and obviously the running back, Tyrone Tracy doesn't see it. And then he tries to jump back in and get it, and then next thing you know, we're in the blue tent. I said, darn it again. I think people are actually counting how many times he's in the blue tent. I think he's been in the blue tent eight times now. Really? I don't even want to hear it. Remember like, what's his name went into the blue tent with him? Oh, a day boy. Yeah. Yeah. I think they had some cheese and crackers in there. Sometimes no. But yeah, it'll be interesting. Skatibou, I don't think he's going to change who he is, you know, he's done it for too long and really it's kind of what they want. And he is, he's just so

much what's the word for he's slicker than I ever thought he would be. And of course, he's really good in the passing game too. Giant's like and wide receivers. Last thing here watching the game, we'll see how it goes, but the tight ends, they did not feature them once during preseason. Oh, they won't. They won't say it's going to be big time. Yeah, we're going to use them.
