It's time for the morning drive with Tim O'Brien on 102.7 the fanatic. Yeah, here we go. Seven o'clock straight up. Morning drive. It is Thursday morning here in the beautiful Coachella Valley. Tim O'Brien along with Brett Rosen 102.7 the fanatic. Number to hang 442 221 102.6. That's your Palm Rout. Cannabis text line. We'll go ahead and take you to nine o'clock. You know the drill having fun. Football is back. It was 519. A minute before kickoff. Yes, I sat my fat ass down on that couch and I didn't move until I did move. And that's a whole other story for another time. But we did watch a little football last night and it was glorious.
Maybe the worst game that we'll see all season. And if they'll picked up right where it left off last year, Super Bowl 6. He just boring awful football. But nonetheless, football is back. A bad game is better than no game at all as the Patriots blow it. Choke it away. So sad to see it. Boss, sorry about it. Drake May. Everything we've said about you. It stands true. I think the pads are staring on for right in the face. I said it yesterday. I've said it the day before that. I think they take a huge step back. And boy did they ever show that last night. We're going to break it all down. We'll get into it. Plenty of football to chat about. It's football from here on out folks as we are now in it officially into the 2026 NFL season. We've got football last night. We've got football tonight. Then we've got of course football tomorrow. College football. We got football Saturday. Got football Sunday. Monday. We literally going to have six out of the next seven days of football. And it's glorious on the other side of the glass. Brett Rosen. Good morning. You and I happen to watch that last pick together.
What a joke. We happened to last watch the last three picks. Yeah. Because it all happened between a 12 minute time span. Brutal brutal 11 turnovers for Drake Main is last five starts. All against playoff teams. All against teams over 500. Superbowl included. Not good enough. That's not going to cut it. Is there a serious problem in New England? It's weird. It's like that first half. I felt like New England felt comfortable more more so than Seattle. And then all of a sudden the offense just became stagnant. So New England was able to move the ball. They were moving the ball a little bit. But then when it mattered most Seattle shut them down outside of that third and nine. Was it a fourth and nine? It was four tonight that they let that up that the Seattle defense gave up there in the fourth quarter. They were letting them get between like the 40s pretty consistently. And then Seattle just shut it down. They when it mattered most they shut it down and they were moving and they were the difference of the game last night. New England had all control.
Sam Darnold goes down after five plays doesn't return drew lock has to come in. New England had this game. There are 10 nothing at one point and then they just forgot how to play football offensive line was terrible. They have no running game. AJ Brown goes down Romeo dobs forget how to catch a football looked like me out there running a post route. This is what I want to bring up to you. And this is why this is I was thinking about this in the shower. All right. That's thinking about you in the shower. You say I can't complete an NFL pass. I could do what Drake made did yesterday. All right. That was terrible. That was bad. And that's that same interception he threw 12 yards out just throw it with your eyes closed into the end. So that's exactly what it looked like. And that might not even have been the worst interception he threw. That one he threw into triple coverage. Julian love right there. Like what do you do in the one in the middle of the field the second it's that might have been worse than the one at the end to end the game. Just it meant more because it ended the game. But that one of the set that second pick was so bad.
It was horrible. Like what are you doing? It was like you're looking for Seattle defender. Did you see the one DG the picture he sent where he's behind center on the Seattle side. Yes. Drake made like it's going into that fourth quarter. The Patriots are up 10 to 3. The end of losing that game and guess what? Drake made those in an interception. Turns into three points. Drake made those another interception. Turns into seven points. Drake made those another interception. Ends the game unbelievable. It's like all every interception just destroyed that that defense is like hopes and pushing back and Drew Locke wasn't horrible. No, the difference is he didn't turn the ball over. Yeah. He played well enough to win. Put yourself in a situation to be able to win the game. Yes. And also like what are you thinking man? Like throw the ball away. Like it kind of looked like he was trying to throw the ball away. It almost felt like he was trying to throw the ball away. But also semi-c if something could happen. Yeah, he panic. It was to that sideline. He was probably thinking like, OK, best case scenario.
We somehow get like the best catchable time. Worst case scenario, the ball is going to be at a bounce because it's heading towards the sidelines. He didn't think that the best catchable time was going to come from a DB from Seattle. But what a what a what a game by Seattle hats off to them. It shows you that pisses me off. But you strike on wall top. This is a championship team. Championship teams win in this fashion. They win these games. And it just shows you that Seattle is that team. They're still there. Now Sam Donald going down. You had I actually made a comment last night. I think we were on the same page. You had mentioned something and I was like, man, he's right. That first throw Sam Donald through yesterday. It was like a maybe a seven eight yard little throw to the sideline that he under threw by about four yards. His arm looked dead. Like something looked off. It did not look good at all. The ball was a duck and it just threw it for yard short on an eight yard pass. Not good enough. And it didn't look right. Now he went down because of his hip. He goes gets tackled, falls on his hip and then leaves the game.
But something was just off about him last night. Drillock looked more comfortable. Very strange. I don't know. Maybe it's just my deja or PTSD from his jet stays. Sam Donald. I don't know. But something just looked off. Something was weird. Something was weird. Who knows, man? We're playing Thursday. Thursday morning quarterback. Thursday morning quarterback. Thursday morning quarterback here. But who knows? Maybe see how to lose this if Sam Donald stays in that game because he just didn't look good. He didn't look right in the positions he did have. He looked like he was unable to make choices at all. Almost felt like he wouldn't want to throw the ball because he was scared of the interceptions. It's kind of what Drake made sure to have done in the fourth quarter. The player stepped up when it mattered most. Yeah. Really in love was there. Witherspoon was stepped up. Then you've got what's his name? JSN. I mean, talk about turning on the jets when he catches that ball. And it was right as when the commentators say what you will about them and not being very good. In that moment, they were saying like Jason needs to be able to be effective.
He needs to be able to get the ball and be that special player. Be that offensive offensive player the year that he was last year. And as soon as they said that he caught it, turns it on, goes for a touchdown. All the momentum's on Seattle side. I will say for Drake May and that was at the first interception where he throws the Romeo dobs. Romeo dobs has to do a better job of batting that down. It was gotta get past interference. Do something. Then the one in the fourth quarter where Romeo dobs just drops the ball. Yeah. Or that might have been late in the third. Or I can't lay it in the third maybe. But he drops the ball. That's a first down. That keeps the ball moving. Maybe you get a fuel goal. That's a 16, what was it? 16, 3 at that point or 13, 3 game. You don't know, yeah, it would have been 13, 3. You gotta catch the ball, bud. They brought you in for that reason. You gotta catch the ball and you gotta be better if you're Drake May, if you're Romeo dobs. You guys have to be able to step up and it was horrible. That was a horrible pick. To be able to not like you had a chance for a field goal to then send it to overtime to
give yourself a chance to win in Seattle. And by the way, it's not getting easier for the New England Patriots. They are playing the Pittsburgh skill. Steelers. And then they will play the bill and jacks. Bill and jacks. Like they legitimately can go. At best case scenario, they're going one and three. I'm telling you man. Literally did I set it here? Yes, I think they're going to go in four. Like it's very scary over there in New England, especially when you see Drake May not being able to throw the damn ball. I wish we had that rack of me going on. You say about saying they're staring on for in the face. I just don't remember when I said it. You remember me saying that yesterday? I do remember you saying that. And I said they're going to take a huge step back to share. Yeah. You've been preaching that a lot than being able to then taking a big step back and everything. And I don't know what's going to happen. We got to figure out what's happening with AJ Brown. So it seemed to zip that ankle injuries more serious than Arnold's hip injury. Yes. I was very able to didn't seem too optimistic about the ankle. Mike McDonald then took the podium yesterday and said the initial report is way better than
we thought. We are very happy with it. Still a little inconclusive just because he's got to go get a little further more testing. But it seems as if maybe he misses like a couple games, which is like if Drew Laxman will play the way he did. Really don't need it. No, I like the Saints fan. Arnold boys, Napper, saying morning guys, Drake May is very inclusive. Jersey colored is not matter. If you're open, you're getting the ball. He was just throwing at anybody and everybody last night. Eleven turnovers in his last five games. I believe I saw he's two and 15 against teams with 500 records, maybe something along those lines. Like that's not good. Not a cupcake schedule. You can't make your schedule anymore. Now look, they didn't make it last year. They just played it and they played it well. Different song and dance this year and not a good start to the New England Patriots. And it brings up my next point though on the other side of it. And you see here behind me the four letter networks saying how much of that loss is on Drake May. All of it. Every single bit of it is on Drake May last night.
Again, Romeo Dobbs got to do a better job. But who else are you blaming for the Patriots loss last night? You have to blame the court. You have to blame three picks in the fourth quarter period stop. That's the difference. Ten minutes ago, it looks like it's your brown and it came out the high ankle sprain. So that's several weeks. X-rays were negative for a fracture. Brown has an MRI schedule for Thursday to determine how much time he'll miss. So a high ankle sprain it might be, it can be worse than a fracture. You know that? Yeah, because it's because attendance week. So it's more likely to sprain again. Not good. Rather break your ankle kind of what George Kittle did. Then sprain it because then it can rebuild itself. By the way, also coming out. Not too long ago. George Kittle going to play tonight. He is going to play. Yeah, very improv. That's so crazy. Do you say he's going to play tonight or play tomorrow since it's Friday morning in Australia? Oh, I guess it's. No, I know it's here. We'll say tonight.
Yeah, wait, no, you're tripping me out. That's that's my brain because technically it is played tomorrow. But it's also played today in Australia and today it's weird. Yeah, I don't know that it's tomorrow yet in Australia. What time is it in Melbourne? What time is it? We're going to go over that next break. It just turned right. So it's 12 12. It just passed midnight. That's crazy. There's sleep right now. No, not the. Not the Rams. The Rams are just waking up. Not the Rams. Talk a little bit more about that later because what you were told yesterday is ridiculous. Is that crazy though? It's crazy. Like, we have to work. We have to do the whole day of work and we're working and we're like living and everything and they are going to sleep and wake up and go to game day. But they already lived what work about to live. That's so crazy. I need to go to the future. But last year with the Patriots, it was horrible. As a Niner fan, I really needed Seattle to lose that game against them. That had been really good in the dream scenario and then the Niner's hopefully with a one
tonight. DG, is that your view from the hotel? Where the hell's Apple? He said morning from Apple Valley. Where the hell's Apple Valley? I watched the boring, boring bowl in the hotel last night. Pat's going on forward. Be a gift. It's also six hours ago tomorrow in Australia. It's so crazy, dude. It's so crazy. It's like, it's, it's the most trippy thing ever. But how important. Now more than ever. We saw it last night. How important is the backup quarterback in football? 10 years ago, it didn't matter. Growing up, backup quarterback, you didn't even know who it was. It literally did not matter. You had no clue who the person was. They were, they were bagging groceries before practice. Now every team needs to have a service level backup. Yeah. Now, I know your answer. Brock Perty goes down on the fifth play tonight. Mac Jones is your quarterback the rest of the year. Are you still going to the playoffs? Are you still confident in Mac Jones? Yeah, I'm confident in Mac Jones.
Now, I'm even confident in our third stringer. That's a little crazy. It will look good in the preceding. Seahawks now, they see Darnel to go down like, oh crap. There's no shot. They were feeling confident in Drew Lockless. And he's still looking. He's not good, but he didn't turn the ball over last night. Did make that his advantage? Me, my quarterback goes down on the fifth play on Sunday. I got to wash cards and wins. Now, Carson Wentz went two and two last year before he got hurt. OK, serviceable. Smart. Didn't turn it over. New, the system, didn't try to be a hero. Just short little passes like Long was doing. No reason to go down field if you don't have the honor to do it. But I'm not confident in Carson Wentz. Like, yeah. The season would be over. It'll be done. So like, that just shows you. I'm trying to think that I was thinking going through the list of teams that, if their quarterback went down. So the New York Jets did not bring in another quarterback. If Geno Smith goes down, Kate Clubnix, their backup quarterback, a fourth round pick last year.
Who? They're high on. But he's still a fourth round rookie. And he's never had any game tape in the fell. Right. So like, they're done. So I just, I think I think about what a gamble. Like, what do you got to have a good backup quarterback? Yeah. Because the like, I think the, I wonder what the statistics are. But the likelihood of someone starts every game. Oh, no. These guys are playing more than 14, 15 games. Yeah. That just naturally because these injuries, man. I can't remember if they're, would have Josh Allen did miss a game, right? Josh Allen usually sees healthy. I only miss the game. I'm here. I don't think he did either. He may have missed like a half and came back or missed a half and then was OK the next game. I remember something with a, with an ankle or leg, but he usually stays. But he's also like it. That's a different type of animal. Like his, he plays hurt. He's, he's a big body. Yeah. He can, he can withstand a lot. Same goes with Justin Herbert. I feel like usually you don't have to put trail ants out there. That guy just takes a beating.
Kyle Allen would be their backup if Josh Allen goes down. Who? But, but no, the backup QB is very important. You saw last night again, true lock coming in, not losing the game for them. Honestly, if you think about it, he had the better game. Yeah. More so than drag made it because he made big throws when he needed to didn't turn the ball over. Didn't make stupid decisions. And he made sure that he put his offense in the best scenario to be able to score and be able to put his team in the best scenario to win the game. And that defense, like dude, you could have played quarterback and won a Super Bowl last year with that defense. And it looks like it's the same type of defense again. Say that could easily look. It's the same type of defense too. Kate Klubbick, not even the worst, or he is. Sorry. Kate Klubbick, Kyle Allen, not even the worst backup quarterback in the rankings. It is Kate Klubbick. This is fun. I got the whole list of every team's backup rank, 1 through 32. So the Jets have the worst one.
Jets have the worst backup. Number one on the list. You got to be pretty happy. Mac Jones is number two. It's pretty good. They have Flacco at one. I don't necessarily agree with that. That's right. Big bleep, Nick, right? Nick Folls, Napper. Yeah. Two, a number three, but he was named starter. Big for an Indomitose at five. You guys never play a snap. Like, come on. Number one pick, though. Go hang in fruit. Number one pick. I wonder where's like Trayland's at? Oh, let's see. Oh, Trayland's 15. Midway. I guess. And then Carson Wentz is about 20. Drew Lock 17. They have JJ McCarthy on this list, not Carson Wentz. And they have him at 13. OK, that's not bad. Not terrible. You're going to be happy with that.
He's third string fruit, Matt. How about that? First round draft picks starting last year, all the drama surrounding him. And the fall front. Do you ever remember a first string quarterback being demoted to the third string? First round pick starter to be a third stringer the next year. I don't know that. Trayland's Trayland's. He didn't start, though. Yes, he did for the Niners. He was their number one draft. Did the year started that year? The year that Brock Purti was drafted, going into that season, Brock Purti was the third string. Gropel was the second string in Trayland's was the first string. Trayland's gets hurt in the movie. Who was the three? Brock Purti. And Jimmy Gropel was second and then Trayland's is our first string quarterback. Trayland's it was in his second year. When did they Oh, I'm talking first year, though, like he was hurt his first rookie year. Jay Jamacarza doesn't count in my eyes. Oh, okay. But Trayland's was drafted. What top five? Four. He was third. Third overall. Yeah. Sat behind who Jimmy Gropel for a year.
And then they put him in and was then he was given the starting job. So you're two. Yeah, then he gets hurt. And then Jimmy G gets in. Jimmy G gets hurt. And Brock Purti comes in in the rest of his history. Hey, Wally Pippdom. Yeah. You know, Wally Pipp's story. Wally Pipp got hurt. Didn't play one game. Guy named by the guy by the name of Lou Garrick started for him while he was hurt. Wally Pipp never played again. Damn. You know who Lou Garrick is? Yeah. You sure? Please. Quar-quar back, right? No! This is where we show our age. No. They're in New York, Yankee. Oh, yeah. Lou Garrick's disease. I thought we were in ALS. Oh, OK, OK. Is that bad that I only know him for that? Yeah. It just shows our age. That's all. I'm not going to make fun today. It just shows our age. It's OK. All right, we got to take our first break here on the morning drive. 7.19 on a Thursday. We've got more football tonight. Sunny and hot. I knew 112. It was sticky and hot yesterday.
Last night, this morning walking the dogs. I walked out. Ashley was out there with them. Oh, Wally. Did you like having football all the Wednesday night? We'll chat about it on the other side. I don't know. It's different. We'll talk about it on the morning drive. It's Tim O'Brien. It's Brett Rosen. 102 points. Take the Valley Sports League. Can't touch this. Oh. Can't touch this. All right, it's the morning drive. It's Tim O'Brien along with Brett Rosen. 102.7. The fanatic. Now, I'm going to hang 442-221-1026. Hey, if you're hit or hurt and an accident need a home run, a turn, you know the drill. Artoonian Laws got all your bases covered. It's a home run attorney in law firm. With an office here in Palm Desert, you can visit ArtoonianLawd, ArtoonianLaw.com. Last night, did you like that it was a Wednesday night game? There's some pros. There's some cons. But your initial reaction, did you like it? I don't know. I don't think so. It was a weird. I think because we regressed the Thursdays now, our days are screwed up. Like today should be Friday, but it's not.
Yes. But it is. But it is in Australia. It is in Australia. DG said Lou Gehrick died from Lou Gehrick's disease. How did he not see that coming? It's OK. Anyways. It's OK. I don't know if I liked it, but I mean, it was just nice to have football back. Yes, and that's the thing. There's an island in Fiji, Napper, said that you can literally take a step one way or the other, and it's a different day. Wait, seriously? Google, go ahead. No, it's fine. It's fine. It's fine. Oh, boy. I liked it because it's a standalone game. I liked it because there's nothing else to watch on a Wednesday night, right? But for the players, the safety, like I get why short rest, they're going to be not playing now Sunday. But that's not always the case. Like if you play Sunday, then you play the Thanksgiving game.
It just happened to be that there was no Sunday game because it's week one. The networks love it, right? It's a massive ratings boost when it's a standalone game on a night, nothing else is on. So selfishly for them, right? It's a little dough right me. That's what it's all about. It's great. You think Roderick Adele cares about player safety in your brain? No. It's about bringing in the revenue. And right now, the NFL's printing money. It's been that way for several years now, and I don't see that changing. However, I've had enough of the international stuff. Oh, no. I don't need Mexico. I don't need Ireland. I don't need London. I don't need Australia. This Australia games the dumbest thing Roderick Adele has done in all his time. We don't need it. Like I feel like you want to try and grow the game internationally. I think it's been growing internationally already without them even going over there. Yeah. I get it. It's nice to get a game over there for the fans. Like it's cool, right? But you know, come travel over here. I got it. I'm not sure. I got to go there. So, yeah, you know, like last year, actually, when I went to the Rams, the Inters game last year,
there's an eye for ball. Is it right? Who won? Niners. Nice. It was when Maggames had to come in. Or Maggames was playing. Our party was hurt. We were talking to some people that were like next to us waiting for like the bus. And they were from England and they were from the UK. And they were like, yeah, like we traveled to the States specifically for the NFL to tour stadiums. Like we've seen our stadiums. We like, we know there's international beings, but we like coming here to watch games because we don't want to see your guys at stadiums. We want to experience American football here in America. That was a big thing. So like, I feel like that's kind of the same thing. Now, we're kind of talking about you want to grow this game internationally, which is awesome. But it's like, you don't have to have seven international games throughout the season. Scres of the players, scres of the fans. It's just too much.
Yeah, it's too much. And that's the whole point of the experience. Like you just mentioned, they came here to tour the NFL to get the American experience. I don't need to go to Australia. If I wanted to watch rugby, yeah, I go to Australia. You go to New Zealand. I just like, what's next? Can they go any further? You're going to build a field in Antarctica? Like what are we doing? You're going to go play football on the North Pole? Like I just don't get Australia's insane. You know, far it is. It's unbelievable. Speaking of now, since we brought it up, let's just get into it. The Rams landed yesterday at like 2 p.m. our time here, okay? They left at 15 hour flight. They landed 2 p.m. California time. Shaw McVeigh said they landed. They're going to sleep. He wants the guys to sleep all day. They're going to get up. Do their, so when they got there, say 3 o'clock our time here, they're going to sleep. Then they're going to get up. They're going to practice at, say, 2 in the morning there, which is, I don't know, let's just throw it out there 10 a.m. here.
Like he's keeping them on the California schedule all the way over there. Now, they've also flew on the most expensive, biggest commercial flight at every single player laid to had a bet. Like it was not like they were sitting in coach in the middle seat. Did you see the video inside that plane? I did not, but I assumed every NFL team would have done that. Unbelievable. Like it was insane. Like looked bigger than our bedrooms. Like they're, they're area. Like it was sweet. With a full ball or in service and food and like you know, they had like poker tables in the back. They could have lived there forever. Oh, yeah. No doubt about it. It probably just didn't have a shower, but they could have easily lived there. Like it was, they would have been just fine. But he's keeping them on the California schedule, which is so crazy. Now, it will be 10 a.m. in Australia when it's 530 here tonight. So they will would be awake anyway. But what about right now? Like it's seven in the morning. He's awake in the guys up right now.
It's midnight in Australia. Yeah. I don't understand this thought process from Show McVeigh. Maybe it won't matter. Maybe they come out and win game. They win big and it's like all this is for nothing. But we've got to talk about it. Like it's, I don't understand it. Your players are going to be tired. They're already exhausted from being on that plane for so long. Even though it is a comfortable plane, it does take it to all on you, on your body. You get dehydrated from flying. So merely dehydrated. Flying is not good for you despite what anybody says. And these are athletes that they're so used to their system and so used to their routines and stuff like that. Like this is a complete 180 from what a lot of them are used to on a daily basis. So it's crazy to me. It'll be interesting to see. I don't know. It'll be interesting. Because if you ask me right now, like yesterday's game was pretty boring, but it was a normal game for Seattle being at home. And it was a normal game for the New England Patriots to be on the road. Yeah. Can we stop with starting the year with the Super Bowl rematch,
though? Like can we stop that? This is always good. No, it's not. The minute that game ended last year, and they're like, well, that game sucked, these team sucks. We cannot have this BR opener next year. Two days later. All right. Wednesday night football Super Bowl rematch. Here we go. I feel like you can have it later on in the season. Yeah. But maybe not opening night. Doesn't have to be. But I guess, but then again, look what they do every Sunday. How many years in a row are you going to get Cowboys Giants inside that football? It's exhausting. It's exhausting. Yeah. Week one, two is a little weird. It always happens. But oh, somebody just won something on the big one. I was going to say, it's winter, winter, chicken dinner, out of wife, which she was thinner. But we talked about how lame that game was. And a lot of people have been hyping up this 9 Rams game. I don't know how much more exciting this game will be tonight. Because everybody's just all so tired and done. Stiffy for the ramps. Everybody's just all like, ramps this.
You don't even know the Niners are there. Yeah. Or it's like when people ask Kyle Shanahan about anything football, it's about the ramps. It's like never about like his schemes, his team, how comedy is in this. It's more like, are you excited that Aaron Donald's not coming on this trip? Yeah. Took what? Dude, shut up. So I've asking those questions. It's like, that's not several dumb questions in the media yesterday. John Harboss snapped. Never lost his cool on Symbol tomorrow. He's in New York for three minutes. And he's already. And the media is not going to let him live that one down. So like, you're never going to beat the New York media ever. So he's got to be careful with that. He snapped on the guy, which is like, which is ridiculous. There was a Yankees reporter yesterday that asked Anthony Volpe. He got called back up. And George Lombard is the shortstop now. And the guy was like, is it going to be awkward seeing him? That question is that. We're teammates. This is pro sports. We're not. I got news for you guys. I've been in locker rooms for over 10 years. Why these guys don't like each other?
They're not friends. They're teammates. They get the job done on the field. They win his one co-workers. They don't hang out. They're not best friends outside of the locker room. I promise you, some of these guys don't like each other. I promise you, they don't. But they get the job done because they're at work. This is what they got a job to do. They'll high five and be pumped in the moment when they do. That's it. And then they turn to page. Go home. Now all of them are best friends, but all of them have respect enough to be able to win the game. So stupid. These are poor asses. And they're in these big markets and these big, cool positions. And they ask the dumbest question. Try to be nuts. All right, we got to take another break. Here we'll break down the game tonight. Get into the weeds of it, Mr. 49er. All right. And of course, Twitch.tv morning drive with Tio. Football tonight, baby. As we keep rolling along, the Rams, Niners from Melbourne, Australia. I'm going to call it Melbourne.
Even though I keep hearing someone say Melbourne. It's Melbourne. Sounds weird. I can't say it that way. It's Melbourne. Ha! Honeyhoo, Niners Rams, 530 tonight. Netflix is going to be streaming tonight, which means half the bars in the world won't have it. All good though. It's fine. It's the world we live in. I believe it is Noah Eagle and Luke Keekley on the call tonight. I believe that's the Netflix team now. I and Eagle's kid. Usually I get pissed off at nepotism in these kids in positions that they don't deserve. He ain't one of them. No Eagle is that good. Kids are stunned. And the future is bright. So good on him, for sure. Initial thoughts, reactions, gut feelings, different than last night. You wake up, got a different feeling. You might feel even a little differently at noon. It might go back and forth. I believe they call that waffling in the business. You might go back and forth on it, but initial reactions and how you feel? I'm pretty, I don't know.
I'm confident in this team. Very scared after seeing Sam Darnel go down and A.J. Brown go down so really. That it could happen to anybody. Yes. Because then it just brings back to reality like, look, I'm an Aaron Rogers. Football doesn't care that it's week one. Football does not care if it's the first snap. Football does not care if you're just walking on the field. And we have a lot of players that are older and can be a risk of injury and stuff. And so we'll have to see what shakes out tonight. I'm very curious to see this defense of the Rams. And I'm very curious to see what Kaushan and hands got cooked up to be able to fight against that defense and put some points on the board. And also on the other side of things, the defense for the Niners last year, our weakest spot was our secondary. Our secondary and pass rush horrible. Our middle linebackers, good middle of the field. Great. Pass rush couldn't get to the quarterback consistently.
And secondaries weren't able to get stops when they needed to. I'm very curious to see what we're able to get cooked up. I'm really curious to see how Morris, he's been doing with that defense and what differences I noticed between him and Salah. Definitely a defensive-minded coach. Definitely a defensive coordinator to the fullest extent. Not a good-head coach. So that's okay. Some of these guys are just better coordinators. And that's fine. I get it. You're a bad thing. You're still a high position in a NFL organization. Like you're doing pretty good. You're okay. So it'll be interesting to see. There's just something about, maybe because of all the talk around them. There's just something about the Rams now that just bothered me. Like McVey. You got a smoke show, supermodel girlfriend. You've got a super bowl. Are they married? You got a super bowl. Like you're a head coach in the NFL.
Can you smile, man? Can you stop being a douche for two seconds? You know? Yeah. This rubs me the wrong way. It's annoying. So, let me see. Yeah, it's wife. So, well, Veronica and McVey. So like, I just don't get it. You know, life's not that bad, man. You're doing all right. Yeah, you're jacked at your age. So, like, what does that mean at your age? Huh? What does that mean? Jacked at your age. Jacked at his age. Like, he's not old. How does he? Just turned 40. That's not old. Yeah, it's not old. Like, he's pretty damn jacked. That's, but that's, like, you can be just as much shape at 40 than you are at 20. Yes, but it's harder. Of course it is. It's harder at 40. But he's got all the resources in the world. He's got trainers. Yeah, no, true. No, I understand that. He does look like him, huh, DG? He said McVey is an angry Ryan C. Crest.
Yeah, kind of. He is always angry. I have noticed that. Like, whenever he talks to the media, always has like a snarky attitude. I'm out of two. Like, it's our job. You, you, party, your, your job is not just to be a coach. Your job is to get in front of that podium and give answers. They people forget that. Like, that's party, you're gig. You, you get fined if you don't talk to the media. You make millions of dollars. Like, yeah, it, it drives me nuts. And Napper said two words for tonight. Free trial for Netflix. Oh, yeah. Just cancel it. Keep it though, because they're going to have three games during Christmas on. You don't have like four or five Netflix games this year, I think. No, no, no, Napper. Free trial tonight. Get a different email. Free trial. There you go. Free trial and Christmas. Just do that if you don't want to, if you don't want to buy it. Personally, I think I'm more, I'm most angry about is I don't want to watch on Netflix. Why, they do a good job. The cameras are better. It's so much better stream it. Like baseball and Apple TV is incredible. Yeah, but I wonder with it being in Australia.
That doesn't matter. I think so. No, they got the same technology as we do. Now, if you were telling me the game was the right, they got better in the future. If you tell me the game, you know, the game was going to be in, you know, Ethiopia, then I'd probably say, well, they're going to have to bring in a lot of fiber trucks and figure out how to wire this thing. But no, Australia, it's not the third world country. I don't think neither is Ethiopia. I'm not sure if Ethiopia is a third world country. So at all, I'm pretty sure it is. That was a crazy statement. And no, it's not. What do you mean? Yes, Ethiopia is classified as a low income country. So, okay, let me, let me, let me, let me see something. I'm sorry, it's called a third world nation now. Not a third world country. It's going to be politically correct. Have Wi-Fi. And I was just thrown out one of those African low income countries. Like I wasn't Ethiopia has Wi-Fi internet.
I'm sure everybody does. You can put Wi-Fi anywhere in the world. You know, and they're building all those communities over there. You got to have the internet. Oh my. Anyways, no, I'm excited to see what Brock pretty looks like. Because a lot of people, a lot of reporters have been very impressed with him during camp. I'm excited that he's gone better. So I want to see that. What? Your Cal Baptist is showing. That's a solid. Oh my. So I want to see, I want to see that getting better part. Like I want to see him not throw interceptions. I want to see him not make stupid decisions. I want to see him not throw it into triple coverage. I want to see what I did. I want to see the opposite of what I saw from Drake May last night. Like I want to see him be better and be a leader on that team and be confident. He's already been confident. Why does Brock pretty do that stuff that Drake May did last night? He makes bad decisions sometimes.
He does throw a lot into double coverage, triple coverage, he'll panic sometimes. And he's either really consistent, really accurate, or he throws it to the defense. And that's something that he said he wanted to get better at. And that's something that a lot of people and a lot of reporters have said he got better at that they noticed during camp. Is he limited his turnovers and he's making better decisions. And you know what? I want to see a confident Brock pretty this year. He already talked about it. He said that, hey, if I run into the end zone, I'm not going to teach Australia how to do the doggie. He said that. Yeah. What a loser. What? What a loser. Don't, don't. See, that's the other side. Don't make fun of my guy. He sucks. Don't make fun of my guy. And the rapper said we're the third planet from the sun. So technically every country is a third world country. That's true. Oh, brother. That's true. Line on tonight, Rams. Three and a half point favorites. They are just begging you to take the Niners.
I don't know, man. I already said my pick. Gigi said in most parts of the Coachella Valley, you can watch Thursday night football on an antenna, which is free and no trial needed. I wonder if that use like when the Rams are on tonight, it's Netflix. So they're not allowed to do the cable. Like usually when it's Monday night football and it's a local team, even though it's ESPN, you'll see the Rams or the Charters on APC also. Yeah. They can't do that legally with a Netflix game with a streaming game. But all right. Second of the break. Here's a good movement along. We'll keep going our thoughts. Predictions scores tonight. Niners, Rams on Netflix from Australia. We'll keep conversation going. It's the morning drive. It's Tim O'Brien along with Red Rose and you're on the Valley Sports Leader. 102.7 the fanatical. 1 2 2 1 102 6 your Palmer Out count of it.
Sex line for the guys over there PRC for 20 dot a cop. Niners Rams tonight. Patriots Seahawks last night. How did you see Shohei O'Tani going on the IL for the first time as a member of the Dodgers? He tripped and fell into a wall. He's going to be out for a little bit. What's making you nervous? Just like I don't know. I guess he was a good win. 14-1. They don't need him. Yeah. Yeah, he's great. But they're that good. They've won what? Eight in a row now. Yeah. He's on track. Seven in a row. Eight and two in their last ten. He certainly does help though. Of course he does. He's the greatest. But they're fine. You know, the XR21 games over 500. They did it without judge. He missed 99 games. I was even playing since he didn't.
He's never did a rehab stand. So his first game he was like, oh for three two Ks. He had two hits last night. He went right back into it. Never went to a mile. Three ups in. Just let me go. Let me go in. No one to touch a minor league field in my life. So again, right back into it. It's all good. Are you excited for October? Yeah. You know. For you is it a little less exciting because the NFL season is like underway? No. Baseball is still my. Okay. I'm a bleed the pinstripe blue more than anything. Like when the baseball playoffs are on the football, like I'll have another TV or monitor up off of my iPad or something, but like, you know, I'm locked in. Okay. Tianty baseball. It's playoffs. You know, we'll see. It's been the same song and dance every year. They ran the same team back. You don't want to get your host up. Four games behind the raise. Like I have no idea how the race keep winning. You couldn't name two guys on that team.
And they just keep winning games. They're only four back. Got a four game set coming up with them in the end of the year. It's got to keep winning. These are the games the angst got to win and they are beating up on the Rockies right now. So keep doing that. We need more of that. So all good. So hot in here, man. It is. It's like, and I keep turning it down and it's just not working. It's gross. Like it's just like, it's, it's not human, of course, but it's just like. It sucks. I don't understand. You literally walk 10 feet to the hallway there into the other side of the building ice cold. Every studio over there is ice cold here. I'm dying. I would really love to just like be able to bring like a jacket here. That'll never happen even in the winter. And we're going to be hot. That'll never happen. It's never going to happen on this side of the building. The NFL Twitter account put out their season predictions.
Big surprises. Each analyst gave a little like hot take, kind of big surprise, kind of thing, you know. Kyler Murray gets Stafford style resurgence. I like that. Saints win the NFC South. I happen to agree with that. Dak Prescott has his first 5,000 yard season. Ooh. Could see it. And that offense is legit. Omari and Hampton leads the NFL in rushing yards. Zay flower leads the league in receiving yards. Miles Garrett ends up with some single coverage. Okay. You know, like he's not a Superman. That's okay. Nico Collins reaches 1500 receiving yards. Giderian price post more yards than Jeremiah love. Ooh. Those are the season predictions. I think now when I agree with that one.
Giderian price. Yeah. Just because that O line is good. And how bad Arizona is. Yes. And how bad Arizona is. I can see Dak Prescott hitting 5,000 yards this year. I think that. Oh, that's your court. They're going to be light in the field up. Like I don't see the hype around the Giants. I think Jackson starts things. I do believe Harbaugh is going to give them a couple extra wins. But I could see Dallas just absolutely smoke in the Giants Sunday night. Blown him out of the building. March. I can see. Yeah, I think the Dak Prescott 5,000 yards are going to happen. It's going to happen. That. Why agree with four things on here. Which one? Don't you agree with again? The ones I don't agree with. Yeah. Tomorrow in Hampton leading the NFL and rushing yards. You don't think he'll have that type of year? Yeah, sure. With how much Harbaugh likes to run the ball? Sure. But there's some stiff competition there. Well, yeah. And you got your, you got your, you got your Gimmar Gibbs, your beach on Robinson's, your,
your state Quan Barclays that are still in the game, your Kenneth Walker's, Zay Flowers leading the league and receiving arts. I don't see. Oh, I don't see that at all. I don't see that either. He'd rather run it himself. If anyone who, you know what I think might do it this year? Just because I feel like he's so pissed off about how last you went. I'm on raw. No, the gritty baby. Justin Jefferson. Hell yeah. I just think that Justin Jefferson just because that you guys have a great wide receiver core with three receivers that all want the ball. He's not going to get the ball every time. It's JJ's team this year. He wants it. He's hungry. He had two touchdowns last year. He's pissed. He's going to go off. OK. He's going to go off. And I can't wait. Mid season after week nine. Justin Jefferson has how many receiving arts? Well over 1,000 mid season. Mid season. He's going to have a record here.
OK. Oh, you put me on the spot. Ask me a question about how you got to do the math, dude. I'm going to be the next to you. It's time for the morning drive with Tim O'Brien on 102.7, the fanatic. We're on we got the nines on two zeno wins a let's get in the nines today Ready question number one I'm not ready because it says no round today. Okay. I'm ready before becoming a baseball Baseball villain and an all-time slugger Alex Rodriguez went number one overall to this city's team in 1993 I thought he was always Yankee. Are you kidding me? Come on man. No, you didn't No, I'm being genuine But you think Luke Carrick's a quarterback come on, Brad I Thought he was always a game though. I've never I've never thought of him as any other no No, no Hello darkness my old friend 30 miles off pretty good pretty good You played for this team for a long time then he went to the Texas Rangers 2300 miles off
Yeah, boy, you pick New York anyway. I know I pick Pittsburgh Number two Seattle is the answer to that question Uh question number two Pumped in crowd noise cost this city's football team a draft pick after the NFL exposed its fake home field edge What Something the Patriots would do but they're an outdoor state. Yeah, so they wouldn't do that Let's go Nope got that wrong. Dang it I picked the Colts that was incorrect like the Saints fans saying you could see Hampton leading in total yards from scrimmage though Stutt got him in a draft Now land I shouldn't know and it was that land. I just didn't think that Atlanta would do something like that Well, I should you've known it was Atlanta that's indoor stadium. Yeah
What was me says you're Uh, Gigi So yes, what was me you need to get that on a shirt question number three For his late night US open breakthrough Ben Shelton won an NCAA singles title playing for his dad in this SEC town I just saw his coach in that stance. Yeah, I know where this Got it nailed it Couple miles off Damn 200 miles off Yeah floor of the Gators chop chop chop All right Number four Usain Bolt celebrated before the finish and still shatter the 100 meter world record at the 2008 Olympics in this city I don't know where the Olympics are nobody cares. Why does it feel like an apricot question because it's you same bullet no no no
I'm making I know Nobody cares about the Olympics 2008 it's well summer Olympics. So it's gotta be oh no. I was super off. I was super off. Oh, I should have known this I was 6474 miles six thousand All right, let's go down here then 4000 miles off Beijing I went Australia No will question number five Andre Kirillanko's AK-47 nickname fit perfectly His initials Number 47 and this arms making city where he was born Oh Problem is this country is huge
600 miles off Really same country though. I knew the country You 600 miles off to Mother Russia The whopping score of 653 that's a bad one. Yeah, that's rough. Yeah, I got a 741 which is still rough Pretty bad what um What run did you do or what The uh we same bolt what you what you pick Australia. Oh, why? I don't know I feel like I've never heard of an all-in-pace don't throw it really Sydney. Oh Yeah, I should have known Beijing though. We got the same score. Gio and I what are the chances of that? I shouldn't know in that Beijing. You know, we haven't done build a player. We're not doing it I'll do it stupid good you do that. It was super fun. Great you turn your mic off. Let me see you later The spreads that were initiated in May or June. I think it was June when the spreads came out
For the week one. I think I June or July I want to say Anyway, there's a few that stuck out to me for you uh you gamblers out there So last night's spread started at 3.5 was down to 3 Tonight 2.5 It started out now it's Rams giving 3.5 That one move the one that stood out to me the most and made me scratch my head You ready for this one? Yes, I had it right here. Jeez Louise there it is Chargers were giving 11.5 when this line opened up. It's down to 8.5 Why did it drop so much? What do we not know about the chargers? Are the Cardinals gonna win this game? Why did that line shift so much? Three points. Uh, I None of them not another game shifted more than two points
Why did this one shift 3.5? Couldn't tell you can tell you I know one thing though. You gambling experts. Let us know I can tell you one thing. No, that's not gonna happen Chargers are running that game There's there's no way they lose Actually now that I said that they're probably gonna lose but just why did it move so much? That's what I need to know um Because they're starting centers out. It's the only one that moved. Oh, I missed the playoffs. Damn it Tonight's games 3.5 Rams favored The biggest spread outside of that Chargers 8.5 Jags 8.5 over the Browns and then the Cardinals losing to the Chargers Those are your two biggest Sprets in terms of how much they're winning by Yes, anyone was a spread Three Somebody so it was a push maybe was three and a half when it opened in May
Not June it was May and it went down to three. Yes, three I don't really know. It was a push. I don't really know too much about gambling like going from 11.8 is that a big jump for from May to Now it depends it had a team made a trade or something Maybe well it so it when someone's slamming a team it goes down when If someone's hammering one team it goes the it'll come down. Uh-huh. So like oh there you go Mike just texted it betting on the Chargers has driven it down because everyone's betting it. Oh but You don't see it move a whole lot like that When the teams are so different like when the two teams are that when you got a team that's good in a team That's as bad as the Cardinals Okay, but now you can make the argument like the ram or the dolphin stink right But that spread is only three and a half Well, they're playing the Raiders. Yeah, like So it's interesting It's fascinating to me all that said the fact that it's not legal here
But it kind of is you can still now You can't just do player props, but you can still do parlay's and it's just so that's off the rules are so stupid It's so safe, you know because part laser just difficult because you've got to be able to hit on everything well Yeah, that's what makes it you got to hit every single one to win the bet. It's a sucker's bet Absolute suckers bet Bay Area J. I did see your text of course so sad to hear about Barry Melrose great hockey analysis Analyst rather Yes, Barry Melrose the voice the soundtrack of of hockey. We'll talk about that on the other side I want to talk about Barry Melrose and the impact he had on hockey and Where it is in Southern California when he took over led the kings to the finals in 92 when he first year coach at wing gretsky So we'll chat about that as well, but Let's see if you can guess some of these spreads here Okay
Box Bengals it's a good game right out of the shoot. I'm gonna say Bengals by three Bengals three and a half there you go Ravens cults Ravens at cults Ravens by five three and a half yeah Falcons at Steelers Steelers three and a half yeah nailed it are they all three and a half? Oh no Uh bills at Texans Bill three-naf no bills only by a point. Oh, okay Jets Titans this moved a little bit too. I'm gonna say Jets Titans he jets by One Titans favored by one and a half the Titans are favored at home. Yeah damn Jets fans travel too and next bill. That's this play. I bet you there's gonna be more Jeff fans and Titans fans
Yeah, and plus I also like Gino Smith more than I can word yeah We're gonna find out cam ward the only game that did not move at all two games didn't move at all Between May draft Kings put it the line out in May and now this is the official lines at circa in Vegas, okay? Mm-hmm Two games didn't move The Ravens cults didn't move okay, Bucks bangles didn't move Did I say two games or three games two three there's three that didn't move Bucks bangles Ravens cults and Packers Vikings damn move Since men what are Packers favorite as Vikings are favorite point a half point at home. Yeah No Josh Jacobs no Michael Parsons if If If the Vikings lose Sunday I'm gonna just go put the sign and get the jersey. I'm gonna take all these bets off the boards over if they can't win this game Sunday
There's no point no you're not gonna play the page the Packers at a weaker point in the season Yeah, but the season's not over at home. You've got to win the game Sunday It says close of a must win on opening day as you can get that's that's not true. You've got to set the bar high with Kyler Murray You got to not turn the football over The defense gonna have to be flying around You've got to pound something that Packers team is not good without Josh Jacob some like Parsons Yeah, but that's like it being a must win. That's just not true like it's but they're not gonna they might not beat them With them you got to take care of business at home week one. Yeah, I guess Period stop that's like right now the Niners at home playing the Rams without Miles Garrett and Pukinakua You got to win that game right
Yeah true like you'd be pissed if they lost that game. I would be pissed It would be the weakest Rams seen though we'd be able to face exactly They've got to win this game Sunday have to So you're done with the season to be loose not done, but none of this matters You're not excited because then you're gonna score to Chicago and he could be on to the real quick So Huh I'm gonna on in there. Yeah um No, I think I think your Vikings will win I don't know if it'll be as dominant now. I got a question. Let's say you guys win in a very scrappy kind of crappy game Are you gonna be still pissed off No win just win doesn't have to look pretty doesn't have to look pretty like he's having out of pretty wins in snom So just win Okay, just go win. Win the football game Okay And we'll see we'll see what happens. Yeah I I just need consistent quarterback play. I just want to feel confident
With consistent quarterback play you saw it last night would you lock don't turn them all over you got a chance Don't turn the football over you got a chance to win the put your offense in the best situation possible constantly All right, got to take another break here 818 on a morning drive. It's Tim O'Brien along with bread Rosen Hop aboard the conversation 4 4 2 2 1 1 0 2 6 that's your palm morale cannabis text line. PRC 4 20 Dot com looking at the TV here in front of me the four-letter network who needs to have a faster start on Sunday Jordan love or Kyler Murray. I think the answer has to be Kyler Murray Jordan love. It's got a little time. It's got a little more in the tank got a little more Gusto behind them not a whole lot more to prove I think Kyler Murray is playing for his job and his career So I think he's got to be as good as anybody all season long in order to keep it Fly in at your solo here for a moment Uncle bread had to go use the restroom He had the cold sweats in the shake so he's sprinted out of here and so we're on the other side of the board right now But I want to chat a little bit about the legend that is Barry Melrose the hockey analyst coach player You'd ask anybody in the business. It seems all around great guy as well died yesterday at the age of 70 He had Parkinson's disease for the last couple of years. That's what took him off
Off air on the four-letter network. He was an unbelievable analyst He was the guy that took hockey to the next level at ESPN. I truly believe that and they put all their eggs in one basket with him and he helped grow the game and For somebody in my age 38 years old watching sports center and watching the NHL tonight and hockey tonight and I mean Barry Melrose was a soundtrack of a lot of that so Sucks that he that he's gone. We won't see him on TV anymore But all you can do is is you know bring up the memory and and all the good times that he had on TV and And remember that I thought the four-letter networks Scott Van Pelt Jeremy shapt in unbelievable tribute last night It was perfectly said The personality of Barry Melrose he was kind of like the American dawn cherry with the suits and the cigars and the hats and just cool as cool could be But I think about back reading about it and you think about the impact that Wayne Gretzky had on Southern California
You know when Gretzky gets traded he comes to the kings in the 90s if Wayne Gretzky doesn't come to the LA kings I don't know that hockey's Nearly as big or as anything that it is today today in Southern California So when you look at it Not only did Wayne Gretzky grow it, but Barry Melrose was a young 35-year-old youngest coach in the league taking over first time ever coaching in the NHL Had no experience coaching in the NHL He had an experience coaching in the minors, but never at the national hockey league level So Barry Melrose is just as important to grow in the game in Southern California. I believe in Wayne Gretzky Wayne of course the name the best do it greatest hockey player of all time But Barry Melrose deserves to get some recognition As well because he takes over as a young coach leads the kings in 1992 to their first ever Not their first ever the first Stanley Cup in his first year coaching So that's pretty remarkable and I think when you when you
Think about probably how important it was for that team to have success early a young 35-year-old With the greatest player of all time in a city that hockey wasn't the biggest then of region the hockey isn't the biggest It did wonders and that's pretty awesome So I think you look at the effect that the winning hat on the firebirds in this community in the first two years Right you look at how important it was The first two years to grow that fan base to grow the culture And that's what Barry Melrose and the LA kings did in Southern California in 1992 So you talk to anybody you listen to any of these tributes you go on x facebook you read an instagram Hundreds of co-workers and colleagues and fans Thousands of fans but hundreds of co-workers and colleagues tweeting about Barry Melrose yesterday It seemed as if it came as a little bit of a shock you know, he's been battling Parkinson's but That's the extent of of why or how it happened
um Somebody put ESPN colleagues sent this to me this morning Uh, there's Melrose Avenue will someone put a piece of cardboard next to the Melrose Avenue sign and put Barry So Barry Melrose have the pride of Saskatchewan they were calling it but uh when when You leave a legacy the greatest thing you can leave behind is is how you made people feel I truly believe that and Unfortunately, not all of us do the best job at that with everybody myself included And that's something you got to work on. That's one of those regrets you'll have down the road That you could have done a better job with this person or that person But just by the reaction it seems as if Barry Melrose did that with every single person that he came across People that were interns tweeting, you know, you did an unbelievable job Just making me feel welcomed and making me feel like I mattered and important and I wasn't just an intern All right, because some of these on air people and people of stature have egos
Bill Pito who's now on MSG network God, I've gotten to know at MSG network He was a young host with ESPN 2 at the time on a new show called NHL tonight Had no idea about hockey and he tweeted last night that he'll ever be indebted to Barry Melrose for being patient with him and teaching him the game of hockey While he was trying to navigate this new job as a host of a hockey show As a young 20-some odd young 30-some odd year old Crack in the business. So that just seems to be the type of person that Barry Melrose was but Past away at the age of 70 There was the 92 93 season. Yeah for Barry Melrose Another text rip Barry. Yep. Yep um Love to know you know kings fans out there their thoughts because I don't believe it necessarily ended well with Barry Melrose there is the coach He did get another crack with the Tampa Bay Lightning to be a head coach Which is pretty cool
So you know he's continued but he he found his niche and his his Goal in life and his his he was perfect for TV. He was unbelievable as a hockey analyst And I know it hasn't been the same with Adam over the last couple years um Steve Levy and John Bucci-Gross and Kevin Weeks they still talk about him often on air but Barry Melrose now dying at the age of 70 because of Parkinson's Moves onto the next life and the sports world the hockey world We'll certainly miss him Speaking of hockey coming up October 2nd firebirds opening night against the Ontario Rain those tickets on sale CV firebirds.com fifth season your way we had a chance yesterday to go See the new logo there will be a new logo at center ice the ice is down at Acroche arena sat down with the voice of the firebirds Evan Pivnik chatting about some of the things to come in season five and I could say there's a new look a little bit inside the arena from
different perspectives and different departments and Looking forward to it. So season five certainly stepping it up. This is now where you take that trajectory and try to make it even more Right you coast first two years unbelievable third year maybe fell a little short last year youngest team in the league played exceptionally well taking down the top team in In the league or at least in the division And they move on played a tough Colorado team and At some really good games against them as well So I think that you look at this young firebirds team. It's going to be as exciting as we've seen And for the fifth season. It's only fitting I didn't know what to expect in year one right and that's they went to the finals Year two you knew you're again a lot of those guys back yet. It could just chance anybody to run it back I feel that exact same way heading into this year as I did Heading into year two. So I'm excited you got your veterans back in haids and Mitchell Stevens and Koustav Oval Sin Vila out of Onens back Nika Coco back between the pipes
You know Tyson jugnaut then Ty Nelson on the blue line Kaden Price back healthy JRA via latent road up front with speed It's going to be fun Yani Newman with a chance to be back. Don't not sure. He'll make Seattle out of camp or Oscar Fisk or Mollgard if he makes it out of camp If I had to pick one guy that does it would be Oscar. I think he's NHL caliber player. He's that good But only time we'll tell but preseason game September 27th against Lorraine Those tickets on sale as well cvfirebirds.com for cheap Last I looked at the seat map. It's starting to fill up nicely as is opening night Friday, October 2nd So buckle up looking forward to it. Can't wait. We are already here. I got the itch I was kind of just coasting through summer not thinking a whole lot about it mentally trying to take a little break But getting in there yesterday seeing the logo logo seeing the ice down feeling that chill Which off the bald ahead is much different now than the last time I was in that arena
I might have to start wearing Beanie's I don't think I can do that on air but nonetheless it is back in just 21 days from now Firebirds hockey Where it counts at Acro sure arena again all those tickets still available and go get them man. Let's pack the place Let's get loud and have a little fun cvfirebirds Dot com. We'll go ahead take quick break here 4 4 2 2 1 1 0 2 6 at your palm morale cannabis text line Follow the guys over there at prc420 Dot com and we'll keep moving along on the other side. It's the morning drive with Tim O'Brien along with bread rows in here I want to 2.7 the fanatic the valley sports leader All right, it's the morning drive. It's Tim O'Brien along with bread rows 102.7 the fanatic A little bit of time left 8 35 on a Thursday morning. We've got football tonight baby can't wait Niners rams is the one we've all been waiting for see the rams
What they're all about all Oh good MRI Set for darnled but Great news so far on the hip injury so they seem to be a little more positive this morning already positive last night as we all just sit And wait for the results of the MRI so hey if you're hit or hurt in an accident need a home run attorney Artune and laws got all your bases covered. They're a home run attorney with an office in Palm desert You can visit them at our artune and law at artune and law Dot com You're all right over there Kitches on his phone. Yeah, I know. So it's sitting down. I feel kind of sorry It happens it does we've all been there is the best of us so Oh, what's it called? I don't know what's it called? This is what happens when you don't know. He just what's it called
Like what are you talking about what's it called to sports show Bring me something bright give me something come on What do you got? Yeah, great good job man I love it. I know that you were just talking about it but You watch more NHL than Then I do of course, but you watch more NHL than I think I know I think you're the biggest NHL fan. I know personally. Yeah Were you upset less like was that like a big thing for you like for me that would have been like For example like the the the broadcast or I remember growing up watching was like broth law or that's like Actually did Ralph Walder pass away to when I completely miss it because then that's not gonna make sense But that's like knowing Ralph Walder died Okay, I was upset when he was diagnosed with Parkinson's and taken off not taken off he stepped off air like he stepped off the desk because he knew that he couldn't
Do what he did at his level anymore because of Parkinson's so I was more I was upset then Because I knew we've never seen him again So like yeah, I'm upset he's dead, but in the eyes of TV he's been gone for two years You know, I mean because we didn't know him personally so um More upset than probably than yesterday because I feel like this yesterday we all accepted two years ago So it just sucks two years ago when we knew he would never see your hero again. Yeah, so that was rough It's weird. I always felt like he looked really good for his age Yeah, he was he was great Uh, Ralph Walder still a lot. Yeah, he is alive. He's 88 years old. The lull of the jail By go and this is so you're you're basically just put his death out there. No, no Oh, please, please and if you are take me with you great Sup fellas that game was butt cheeks yesterday Oh my god, yeah, juice. I'd love to play Saturday actually
um, wait We all we all down I I play every Saturday, so Whoever wants to come great can I jump with you want As long as you don't bring that e or attitude see I don't want that last time we golf I didn't have that e or attitude Well, that's why I put you in your own cart so I didn't have to deal with it Y'all know I put you in your own car because 112 degrees ready to keep moving Uh, you don't want to what you started you said I don't want to and then You just started your sentence. Oh, you know, I don't want to and then you stop talking What are you gonna say you don't want to what I said? Oh no before that I'm hearing the bag noise of that radio of me going to say that doing that stupid noise right now. It's hilarious um No, I want to I want to go off. No, but you started saying I don't want to um
I don't know I don't know what I was meant to say Oh, I meant to say I don't want to put that out there his death Oh dear That's what I've been now honestly Ralph Lawler suffered enough watching all those clippers games said Sean and LeQuinta. Yeah, he died 35 years ago when he got the job poor guy when his best player is Bob McAdoo Oh brother Um, but Ben McAdoo's brother right the Giants full coach. Oh really no Damn it You know I'm in a very emotional state right now I'm very goalable So golf in this weekend. Yeah, let's do it
Oh Sean and LeQuinta welcome to the show man from the top rope. I love it I love that great great text text of the day goes to Sean and LeQuinta Ralph Lawler suffered enough watching all those clipper games. Let's go. Oh my god Yeah juice juice the answer to the question is yes, we can play at my spot Saturday morning I'll get out there early. Yeah, but I'll be I'll be really fun honestly. Okay, really fun And I don't think I have anything That it's after finite lights of the the Saturdays already made for like there is a game Saturday night But we don't have to worry about that during the day. No, no No, I'm just saying like it's like it's like built for me. This shows built for me basically It would be easy. I'm getting a first look at the Melbourne cricket ground And the sidelines are massive You're sitting 50 rows from the sideline 50 yards from the sideline
Why would they have the stadium here or the game at the stadium? I don't know because they're idiots because you should have never put a NFL game in Australia in the first place looks like when you see the hockey rink when they do the stadium series and you're sitting behind like it's a baseball Feel you're sitting by home plate home behind home plate and the rink is in center field like this This sideline is massive that I'm looking at right now. Do you think any of the players ate veggie might steady stadiums not that big either Uh If I'm over there, I'm not eating anything that could upset my stomach before I have to play have you you know what? Veggie might as yes, I'm gonna say ever huh? It's like supposed to be the most bitter discussing thing ever It's a thick dark Australian food spread made from leftover brewers yeast. Oh, what's her name? No You said you A thick dark brown Australian spread Ah, I'm from e or made of funny. Yeah, white D doesn't make it funny
Damn it Can I get back to bitching about this stadium? Yeah, come here. Come here. Look at this real quick Look at this how big this sideline is For it's making his way in behind home plate or behind home plate behind the end zone looks like you're gonna crash into the wall Oh Look how far away these seats are And the stadium's actually not that big look at that So what's it Looks like a like a patio right like can you sit there? I wonder if you can but you got to have to put like a fence or a wall up or something because otherwise Just gonna jump no I'm talking about because I know people that if Joey Boasa was standing right there Or Nick Boasa was standing there was where his ass hanging out. I know somebody that would sit there jumping and go grab it You know what I mean? Yeah, can't have people that close you would Well, you did go downtown to a bar with so Brett's fun is
Yeah No, no, we'll just keep that at that. We'll just uh If first she don't succeed pick yourself up and try again try on the other team again It's okay. It's okay. It doesn't matter the stadium. We'll probably lose tonight's game and then it'll be yeah Niners won't make the freaking playoffs. Dodgers won't win the world series And then let's just wrap up my 20 20 for the Dodgers are not winning the world's they're not repeat treat triple three-peating Very hard. You know what I need a win. I need a win something good is gonna happen to me this year Something good has to happen. Yeah, you woke up today and you've got this show and you've got a great job That's what happened to win to win that's what happened to you today little wins and you're not paying for gas and What else? I thought we were doing a story this morning. You knew we weren't doing it. No, I did
I talked he talked about it again. You lied to women and children. You don't lie to men. No, I don't lie You do you are not appreciate no All right, take our final break here on Thursday morning as we get ready We'll give our predictions on the other side for the Rams and Niners tonight from Australia It's the morning drive. It's Tim O'Brien along with Fred Rosen on the Valley Sports Leader one on two point seven the finale All right, it's the morning drive. It's Tim O'Brien along with Fred Rosen on the other side of the glass there Just a little bit of time left on this Thursday football season is back my boy Omar Martinez wants to place Brock Bauer's week one just because it's Miami From Napper the hockey fan Mike the Saints fan Brett the world doesn't owe you happiness. You have to go take it son sooner You learn that the sooner you'll stop letting life kick you in the stick. I like that
Go get it and take it Control your own narrative baby. This is all life. You only get one of them. Yeah come on Seems like you know, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, sure There's something when Mike the Saints fan calls you son It makes me giddy. There's nothing about it. That makes me smile Because he takes you under his wing he genuinely cares about you And it makes me smile Breast just on tic-tocs right now. I'm not in tic-tocs and takes the American Grandmama What because that's important right now. I don't mind. My grandma's important. No, not after the show you text grandma Yes, what is so important right now? To let you know that she texted that man again great. Oh, no, hey, hey, grandma give it up No, stop. We haven't said the name here. All right. Let's not say it again Grandma no, no, not grandma, but no
You know, I've no, it's called move along, I think All American no, all America rejects me. Oh, yes. I yes. Yes. Yes All right, we have to take your phone away during the shows because you get sidetracked and you don't pay attention What I am paying attention. I'm talking. What was I just talking about talking move along. No before that Um, that Mike the Saints fan makes you giddy every time Just end the sentence of that like the Saints fan makes you giddy Yeah When he calls me son and you know what Mike I understand that I got it I got a listen to a boy. I got to grow I got to take these experiences and grow and learn from it. You know, it just sucks You know, it does a lot of sadness right life and you know what though. It's not the last time it's gonna happen Nope, I'm not dating anyone again. We're not talking about that. You're right We don't need to let the personal stuff out But it's not the last time you're gonna feel something along these lines I promise you Life sucks. Life does suck, but it's a beautiful thing all at the same time
Life is supposed to suck because then those good moments mean now much more to you All right, I like that No, those good moments mean that much more to you. We're we're we're brawn here to suffer Can we go back to juice saying the game was butt cheeks? Yeah, I have please I cry on air Oh my god Fellas that game was but cheeks Yes, it was I'm hoping tonight's game is gonna be better even though that stadium looks stupid and it's gonna be kind of awkward It's gotta be sold out right otherwise you wouldn't do it You think it's gonna be sold out, but do you think it's gonna be sold out with fans or like NFO execs Huh oh my god, it sucks right don't you hate that Y'all said me for being on my phone and not listening I was doing it to you um Do you think it'll be full of fans or full with like NFL
Personnel so there's a kid that works for the CBS affiliate in San Francisco man lively I was worked with them when I worked with Tecna and he was in sports that we had a Tecna Texas sports team so we did a lot of we had like monthly meetings and we were chair content whatnot So I got to know him a little bit and he's there right now at the Niners in Australia And I've been following him along on Twitter and there's a ton of Niners fans that traveled there. Oh, he's been doing a lot of segments with them. We travel pretty well Yeah, it's a national brand for sure. I would imagine It has to be sold out otherwise. It's a giant flop and it wouldn't work They would give tickets a way to get people in the seat before they have an empty stadium. That's true. That's very true I didn't know if it was gonna be like Super Bowl type of style. You know what I'm saying You get away with the rich people Coming to watch those games type of thing what What you're just yawning mid sentence you yawning mid sentence
But I don't let you know I did it on air you know when new I did it on air. Yeah, it's the morning driver's supposed to wake it up Get people going on their day. I'm awake Yeah, still live with a barely breathing What am I supposed to do when the best part of me was always you in Damn it Oh, that's the funniest thing you've ever done on this show. That was incredible Damn it. Oh, yeah, see we got a text. I heard the on And see for the people that don't know I had to skip a line before he got to the main course. Oh It's so good Prediction time before we run out of time today Spread three and a half rams we can just do straight-up pick them. We don't got to worry about spreads your pick tonight
Niners beating the Rams I think it's gonna be a shootout masterclass from both Brock Pertie and Matthew snafford. I'm calling it It's gonna be 31-24 like said worst yet. I have to watch the on yeah, he's watching no Bang bang nine again. Bang bang nine again. I am going oners tonight as well I don't want to be like everybody else in room for the Rams. I think they Were foolish to travel over there first thing yesterday or last night whatever you want to call it I don't know that I agree with it. I don't need to agree with it my opinion means absolutely nothing But for as long as I'm sitting in here and have this microphone in front of me. I am gonna go Niners tonight. I am gonna go Niners 21 Rams 17, okay, just a close game close game I don't see the Niners putting 31 up on the Rams But I do see them winning tonight
Okay Okay, we'll see. I'm excited similar to you you asked me You don't care how ugly it is win the damn game. Just win the game. See you.
