We do have some concerning news for those Pittsburgh penguins that you know about.
But we're going to start looking at that Eastern Wildcard race, and we will start with
the Canadians hosting the Blue Jackets, this one, a very close contest in the end.
Montreal pulls out a two-one home victory.
We get a report immediately from one of the co-hosts of Lockdown Montreal, Canadians.
It is Laura Sabah.
Prior to the question of whether the Montreal Canadians can win a game if their top line
isn't firing on all cylinders, was answered tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
In a game where there were tight playoff implications, the Montreal Canadians top line scored
absolutely no points.
Their second line also scored absolutely no points.
However, the Canadians had a little bit of an assist with some depth scoring.
Zachary Bulgek, the star of the night with two points, and Jaden Strubel with an unlikely
goal to push the Canadians to one past the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Jacob Dobish had an excellent game as always.
Much lower event game than the previous one against Carol lineup, but the Montreal Canadians
were able to pull out the win.
And at this point in the season, it doesn't matter how you get the two points, it's about
whether you get the two points and the Montreal Canadians did good.
Really good to see Zachary Bulgek doing so well in the home arena as well.
For more, check out the podcast.
All right.
Thanks to Laura Sabah for that report.
I love how she says Zach Bulgek, way prettier than I do by the way, but she did a great
job.
Yes.
She mentioned a Jaden Strubel first goal of the year.
Zach Bulgek's first goal since Christmas and Jacob Dobish, one goal out on 26 shots.
So Montreal, 90 points, they are still holding onto that third spot in the Atlantic.
Yeah.
And Montreal to me looks like a playoff team, but I've been concerned if they had enough
depth to actually make a run.
As she said, they kind of proved that maybe they do in this game and the flip side for
the Blue Jackets while they've been very, very hot and the hottest team in the league
since the Olympic break and even a little bit before, bones took over and now they're
looking like contender that nobody would want to play in the post season.
They've now lost two or the last three.
So they're coming back down to Earth a little bit.
They have now appeared human.
And this was a critical two points for the Canadians in a very tight, compacted Eastern
Conference.
standings can flip on a diet.
For Columbus, they are still at 87 points and they drop from second to third and metro
because the penguins get a four or three shootout win in Ottawa over an equally desperate
center's team.
They exchange goals in the first exchange goals in the second exchange goals in the third.
Nothing and over time it goes to a shootout where rookie Ben Kendall wins it.
For Pittsburgh, Ricardo Caled two goals in the win.
Drake Batherson had two in the loss for Ottawa, but Sidney Crosby leaves in the second period.
Lower body injury didn't return, of course, missed 11 games out of the Olympic break for
getting injured over in Italy with a lower body injury as well.
Yeah, and obviously you don't want Crosby to leave games and you don't want to be without
him if you're the Pittsburgh penguins, but especially when he's being inflicted by
the same injury that already cost him time.
They managed to kind of hold water with him out and even now can being suspended.
People thought maybe they would drop out of the race.
They've already been a surprise this year, yet they're still in the thick of things, but
it is so tight that if they go on a losing scale without Crosby, and if he does miss more
time, who knows what could happen, still concerns defensively for them and in net.
But to get a game winner, to get a shootout game winner off of a rookie stick when they've
been so maybe worried about their future going into the season, we've now seen separate
from Crosby carrying the load and this team being able to be good enough with their veterans
air calls and stepping up that they actually have some youth.
They have some quality youth and we've seen a lot of youth power step up this year that's
kind of the undercard of their success.
And Eddie, it also shows the Ottawa Senators are a bit human.
They've been cooled off.
They had a big victory over the Red Wings flip-flop with them in the standings.
They look like maybe they're going to budge into the postseason when a week ago on these
shows, we were saying a great story, but they're probably still miss.
Don't tell them that, but miss out on two points here that they certainly would love to
have and the penguins getting those two points that are that much critical for them.
But if they lose Crosby for an extended period of time, they're not really going to be able
to do anything or go too far.
Obviously, they need him.
They are proving they can win without him, though, and they've proven that in the last several
weeks as well.
So Pittsburgh 88 points, they move into second in the Metro trying to get home ice in
the first round.
Yeah.
You mentioned for Ottawa, they stay at 85 points.
They came in holding the final wildcard spot in the east.
They would not hold onto that spot.
At the end of the night, let's get a report on the sense side of things from one of the
co-hosts of Lockdown Ottawa Senators, Brandon Piller.
The Senators almost pulled this one off, but ultimately they lose four three in the
shootout to the Pittsburgh penguins.
I'm Brandon Piller from the Lockdown Senators podcast, and the penguins control this game
for most of it.
I mean, they have to shoot the sense 38 to 29.
And it was close.
A lot of posts, both goalies playing well over time was exciting back and forth chances.
The sense had so many opportunities and Omar was making big saves too.
And when this one came to shoot out, I really thought the sense we're going to take this
one.
But Ben Kindle scores the game winner, big games from Eric Carlson.
And Drake Batherson.
But ultimately, it's just not enough and they get a point out of it.
So you got to like that, but they were close to getting a win here.
We're going to break this one down in the postcast and of course, on tomorrow's episode
of the Lockdown Senators podcast.
It's your team every day.
All right.
Thanks to Brandon Piller for that.
So the Senators lose and the Islanders take advantage with a new one win over the Dallas
Stars, a very nice win for the New York Islanders.
Let's go ahead and get a report from the host of Lockdown New York Islanders and that's
Gil Martin.
The New York Islanders earn a hard fought two to one win over the Dallas Stars to assist
from Matthew Schaefer, 26 saves for Elias Aroken.
But here's the bottom line for the New York Islanders.
They need to play a defense first system in the NHL down the stretch.
When you're fighting for a playoff birth, you need to play to your strengths.
And the New York Islanders biggest strength this year is Elias Aroken and his goal-tending.
He was very, very good for the Islanders.
Easily the stars could have had the lead in this game if not for some great saves by
Soroken.
So ultimately, the Islanders going to have to play similarly to how they did against
Columbus and Dallas if they hope to win consistently down the stretch.
For more in-depth daily coverage of your New York Islanders, check out the Lockdown
Islanders podcast.
All right.
Thanks to Gil Martin for that report.
Yes.
If you're going to play that defensive style, you better have a good goal.
Elias Aroken has definitely been that almost got the shut out, Matthew Schaein's late goal-spoiled.
Yeah.
The shut out bid.
But more importantly for the Islanders back into a wild card spot as they overtake Ottawa.
They're in that number two wild card spot in the East right now with 87 points.
Yeah.
Another shut out would have been his eighth of the season.
He did that one of the time in his career.
He's already the first Islanders goal tender to ever have two separate seasons with seven
or more shut outs in those years.
A kind of underrated goal tender the last several years, but now has a team in front of him,
Schaefer had two assists in this game.
He played great.
And if we were talking a month ago, we would have thought this could have been a cup final
preview.
The Islanders haven't locked anything up.
So you can't say that I guess right now, but they are showing that if they get in and
if they manage to get through that the teams they might face in the cup final, if they
would get there, they can hang with it to be fine for the stars to lose this game.
It's not going to ruin anything for them, but the Islanders played great in a game they
had to play great in because they're so tight in the standings flip flop and what happened
the other night with Ottawa getting the win in them, not in now the reverse occurring here
in this one.
And New York, if they can play this defensive style as Gil was talking about, they are just
tough to beat and tough to come back against if they get a lead early in the game, granite.
We will see if they get nipped because they're not a team that's probably going to score four,
five goals, like some of these other teams can on a regular basis in a series.
But this style, if they play their game, they can be to anybody and we saw it.
And one final check of a team that still has some hopes of getting a wildcard spot with
those of obviously fading quickly.
But the flyers did beat the black hogs five to one in a game they obviously had to win.
It's going to, let's get a report on this one from the host of Lockdown for a little
few flyers, Rachel Donner.
A lot of the flyers needed some redemption after the loss to Columbus and came out swing
in tonight.
Hi, I'm Rachel Donner from Lockdown Flyers.
The flyers were everywhere all the time in this big five to one win over the Chicago black
hogs.
Chicago was a step behind all game and the flyers took advantage of it.
Well, except for on the power play, of course.
But what was great about this effort was seeing hard work pay off for almost all the
forwards in this game.
Everyone got involved in the action.
We saw kegels from the younger guys.
We want to get going like bump and barkey.
Noah Cates got some redemption with a nice breakaway goal for his fourth in five games.
And Christian Dwarock also got rewarded for his net front presence throughout the contest
with the last goal.
Captain Sean Caterier has been pushing and got his second in a spending games, which
is also great.
All good signs.
If the flyers want to preserve this small chance for the postseason, we'll have more
on this game on the Friday show.
Thanks to Rachel Donner for that.
Even barkey sounds like a cartoon.
We love that.
The flyers have been playing well as of late.
They're not going to get in.
They're not going to go anywhere.
This is a disappointing season for them in year one of this new era, I guess you could
say.
But they actually have been playing well and she mentioned that younger players are stepping
up.
So there's some hope for the future that they actually maybe have a little bit of a
cord to build around, which has been the concern there.
They haven't hit big on a top draft pick.
They've been floundering most of this year.
The veterans haven't been good enough.
They don't really have a true star, goal tending a problem.
But as of late, the young kids have played well.
We'll see if that carries over.
But if you're a flyer fan, you at least rather this than to be crawling out of the season.
Of course, they didn't think they were tanking entering the year.
So they like to see this level of play rather than just, hey, do the Vancouver thing where
you're just losing out.
For Philadelphia 82 points, there's still five points out of the final wild car spot.
In the East one note for Chicago, Conor Bedard did get his 30th goal, but you're the only
goal.
You're the black ox.
That's who they're building around breaking news that it's either the black ox or building
around a competitive season for them.
So at least that's a positive for the black.
I think they're not too far away.
I wouldn't be shocked if they maybe sneak a late wild card spot next year or two years
from now because of how competitive they've been this year, even though they haven't been
winning nearly enough.
All right.
That was the East wild card race.
Let's check in on the West wild card race coming up.
There was some teams that did gain ground on that team holding that final wild card spot.
That's next.

The predators are riding a season high five game winning streak but it comes to an end at
the hands of the New Jersey Devils for two was the final the predators did rally to tie
it up at two to but Nico he sure gets the game winner is 22nd of the season and 2nd of
this game and so the wild card race the predators not able to strengthen their case with this
loss we'll talk about if any teams could take advantage of that but obviously the predators
have been playing very well but this one anytime you lose to a team that's obviously not
going to be a playoff team that's not a good not a good result.
Yeah you knew the predators were going to lose eventually but this isn't a game you want
to drop when you need points and everybody really needs points this time of urusot from
a few teams of both conferences so it's rough to lose to this team yeah they show it
hard at the end there are a team that nobody wants to play for sure and the predators
have kind of play with house money since the Olympic break because everyone thought they
were going to sell the deadline people thought standpoints would be gone and they wouldn't
be going anywhere but you have standpoints forceburg etc they've been pulling games out
of the you know where and this one they do not but they're still in the thick of things
for sure and these might be two points they wish they could have back in a game they
wish they could play again depending on how the standing shake out.
My LA Kings were an action in Vancouver and no it wasn't a officially elimination game
but you lose that game you might as well pack it up and go home and thankfully they did
not they won fairly convincingly for nothing was the final Darcy Kemper a 19 save shot
out always nice we didn't want to pace more than 20 shots in a game.
Artemis Pinerin has been great for the Kings since they picked him up he gets his 26th
goal of the year.
Quentin Byfield has been a big disappointment has showed up of late and well if you're
going to show up at least I guess show up now to try and help things out he gets his
18th goal of the year so LA does gain ground on Nashville they're now one point back of
the predators for the final wild card race for one of wild cards spot in the west I should
say and they do have two head dead games against the predators coming up and they're both
at home which is weird but so there's still the opportunity for the Kings it's still
there for him despite what has been a pretty lackluster season.
Yeah and as we talked on past shows it's amazing what the Kings are doing the story of the
whole year was copetar shaking hands with opponents and figuring the season was going
nowhere and what happened they inject life into the team by bringing in Pinerin likely
the future of that franchise kind of play a little bit of a different style with him
than what they've been playing the last 15 or so years and it's working so far he's
been great they're back in the race they're benefiting off of some other teams kind of
fading and being hot and cold and up and down that we're going to get to here later in
this show but still to credit to them but as you said despite playing well and getting
back into the race if they would have lost this game that's two points they wish they
could have back even if they only would have gotten one they end up with a comfortable
win against the team that's been tanking all year that you got to beat down and they
do so the ceiling probably for the Kings is to just crawl in but it would be a great
story in the last year of copetar if they pull it off and it shows the future actually
could be brighter than King's fans probably would have thought back say in December when
it looked like the team was going nowhere and prior to Pinerin what were you building
around King's also a favorable schedule they got two more games against Dan Cooper coming
up also that's certainly about that the Jets have kind of tried to been hang on around
and maybe make a late first year they've they've surprised a little bit but they were
taken on the avalanche and of course Colorado is very very strong and they they do get
a close three to win do the abs Nathan McKinnon turns it on in the third period with not one
but two goals he's like a forty eight on the season as he's right there obviously for
your heart trophy Colorado hundred and six points now they've got a ten point lead in
the president's trophy race what that's worth Winnipeg 72 points they're kind of like
Philadelphia they're they're there but they're not there there's six points out of the final
while corresponding west yeah and it's another game that hella book allowed too many goals
and didn't get enough in front of him he's had worst games in this and maybe the worst season
of his career really but this was a game that I'm sure he wishes he could have back but not
enough in front of him to try to steal it's against the best team in the league and Nathan McKinnon
while he's vying for the hard trophy and has almost fifty goals so far he's kind of been
on a little bit of a goal drought as I would say maybe the last week or so I mean he scored
these but he's not been as much on much of a tear as he was earlier in the season he's now showing
he can pick it up with this Colorado team is so deep they can win with or without him scoring
and they get the win here it doesn't have to be impressive it wasn't impressive and a lot of
their wins recently haven't been impressive against bad teams but they still get those points
even if they're not impressive against those bad teams they have to get the points against
and that's just another one for the avalanche and one more team to check on in the west wildcard
and that's the crack in they have been fading but they get a big win over Tampa Bay they'd be
like four three over time on the road yeah I was surprised Brandon Montour his tenth of the year
is your overtime game winner so Seattle does gain some ground 74 points there three back of Nashville
for that final wildcard spot in the west yeah and Seattle's showing depth and they're they're
showing that they're a team that really really wants to get in that'll be great for for a new
franchise to have that appearance and and galvanize a fan base with a playoff run we'll see
if they can keep budging in there but on the flip side for Tampa Bay they had the reason lost the
Calgary they drop this game they don't really need these wins they're going to be there and they
can beat anybody in a playoff series they have all the experience in the world coach Rob could
also be named the MVP Cooper could maybe be coach of the year and the jack Adams award and
who knows if they embark under the dynasty but it almost feels like Eddie that maybe they're
getting bored with the season like they just want the playoffs to start tomorrow and then they'll
turn it on they can't get up for these games certainly against teams that aren't going to be
relevant to them unless they meet in the cup final which is incredibly unlikely and certainly
Calgary not even going to be in the playoffs so maybe that's part of it that they just don't
care as much about these games when you have ten or so left on the schedule but they haven't been
playing as well throughout the last four or five games and I imagine they could turn it on at any
moment there's still a very very good team this isn't the end of the world but a weird loss and
a couple weird losses as of late for Tampa Bay. 93 points for the lightning second in the Atlanta
thing got a four-point lead on Montreal for home ice yeah in the first round of which is big I mean
Montreal Montreal's coming like Tampa Bay I think is a much better team but Montreal's coming and
if that flips who knows what happens in the post season series of Tampa Bay at some sense of
urgency to pick up these points not just throw them away a real possible playoffs preview out west
we'll get to that next here on lockdown NHL game night before we had AT&T business wireless coverage

all right we had a real playoff possibility in Las Vegas where the golden nights are hosting
the oilers what a game it was seems like these two teams are going to play each other who's going
to get home ice is is to be determined but at least for this game it was the Edmonds and oilers
that prevailed for three in overtime Nick Zerraris host of locked on Edmonton orders going to talk
about it that every game this time of year is a playoff game but that oilers gold the night's
game felt like a playoff game the oilers prevailing for three and over and over time on an Evan
Boo Shard winner and the penalty kill in the overtime the four on three penalty kill work out
there from Ryan Nugin Hopkins Conor Murphy and Darnell there's nothing short of heroic the three
guys spent 45 straight seconds under the utmost of duress from the golden nights four forward
power play unit of ikel Marner and tomash hurdle and and Mark Stone and just peppered Conor
Ingram and those three defenders for the better part of a minute straight and somehow the oilers
managed to keep the puck out of their own net they counter attack going back the other way they
get a scoring attempt they win the face off clean Boo Shard rockets one home a night where the
oilers big boys showed up you got to make David gold make David also assisting on Matthews
of voice goal make David picking up his eight hundredth career assists in the NHL as well as
hymen picking up another and what's been a splendid season since he jumped in the lineup in mid
november coming off of that wrist injury he suffered in last year's playoffs these four point
games they matter a lot the oilers and gold the night still have one more contest to go this year
all right thanks to Nick Zerraris for that looking forward to that so it is Edmonton now
with a two-point lead on Vegas course they both get a point Edmonton to the extra point
so they have the advantage right now over Vegas goal the nights yeah and this was a game that
it felt like it could be a playoff matchup and it could be a playoff matchered literally and it
also felt like these two teams know that it was a very chippy game we saw a couple fights in this
game we saw kids being blown we saw some winking between players they kind of were letting each
other know hey this is one we got another one before this is up and then we got a playoff
series to play and they've also played a lot in in the past in in recent postseason so there's
a little bit of a rivalry here for sure McDavid stepped up and this was also big for Edmonton to
win this game without dry side who's gonna be out for the end of the regular season questionable
for the playoffs there was a one-timer Eddie that McDavid set up that could have been another
assists for him that they even set on the broadcast that would have been a goal with dry
saddle over there it was right to the corner it was perfect it was bread and butter for dry
saddle obviously you're passing it to somebody else because he's out so it felt like there was even
some frustration in this game McDavid you could see in his face you could see it all year that
every time they would get up he would score he would generate an offense then Vegas would tie the
game and for Edmonton to get the win is big and what I also saw from the Woolers and I've seen
this as a Blake we've talked a lot here on these shows that after dry saddle was announced for
out for at least the regular season the way McDavid's been talking the way dry saddle has been
talking they kind of know this year is probably not a cup year and if they don't win a cup
which the point after you go to the final back to back years the goal tendings been worse
but it showed in this game they really feel like there's a pet back in their step they really
feel like they want to get in they really feel like they can do this again and it almost feels like
the dry saddle getting hurt and everyone cancelling them out of the race this year as a contender
has motivated them all over again so they they seem like a motivated team that can beat anybody
obviously they weren't perfect but a gigantic win for the Oilers and Vegas as they've been all year
Eddie you know this very very much up and down hot and cold all year and they were like that in the
game and not even really aggressive earlier in the game it's like they showed up in the third
period that does not work but that's been their M.O. whether Hills and Net are not this year
and I can't imagine them going far with the way they've been playing if that just
I don't know when that's ever going to stop we're basically at the end of the year now
staying out west you had the top team of the Pacific the Anaheim ducks in action they were in
Calgary to face the flames and the ducks pull out a three two overtime win and all their goals
were scored by the same person let's get a report on that from the host of lock that Anaheim ducks
it's Kyle Carr and the Anaheim ducks with a comeback win and over time against the Calgary
flames except this time Michele Grandlin is the only goal score for the Anaheim ducks getting
the hat trick with the OT winner an absolute rocket these ducks love to give us a heart attack
every single game but they continue to climb gaining more and more points and just building up
their buffer currently Edmonton and Vegas tied in the third period the two teams trying to battle
to catch Anaheim so ducks are living well right now things are great out here in Orange Country they
have one more game on the road trip in Edmonton so looking forward to the fireworks and that one
fly together all right thanks to Kyle Carr for that Michele Grandlin with the hat trick two power
play goals including the overtime game winner for the ducks they are a team that is certainly
exciting they allow the first goal a lot and they come back a lot yeah I don't know if that's
a formula for the playoffs it's exciting hockey I mean they're they're never give up team for sure
and if you're a fan you're gonna have a heart attack watching the game but they're a fun team
to watch for the rest of us for sure and they're also a fun team to root for if you don't have
a team in the race if your team's not going to be in the playoffs maybe buckle down and root for
the ducks they shouldn't be here they're here they get a veteran coach mostly a young team you
bring in John Carlson he's kind of motivated this team they look like they can be anybody will they
do it we don't know I don't know if this style translates to the playoffs but they are really
really fun to watch and they pull out a lot of these games like this to stack those points
and on the flip side Eddie what's Calgary doing they're winning a lot as of late like what is
happening if you're a flames fan you got to be thinking yourself this is December all over again
which the December they had the nine wins like this is not what we want this year what's going on
and Vancouver's getting it done join them granite there's a big buffer in between those two teams
so the flames are bewildering a win over Tampa close call here playoff teams against the flames
nothing's guaranteed right now we have the sharks at the blues San Jose another one of those
teams that lately have faltered yeah and they don't win this one they fall to one and overtime
pick up a point but obviously like a team in their position needs the two points and when you
look at Macklenzo greeny no goals in his last six games and guess what the sharks have lost all six
of them so as he goes so go the sharks there was talk of him being you know maybe a heart trophy winner
but the team had to make the playoffs for that to happen and then that doesn't look like that's
going to happen i mean when you it's it's always the debate on on what should be how you win the
award whether it's the best player or the most valuable we always debate this in all sports for
the nvp's if you want to talk true value to a team you could argue he's the most valuable to his
team even at his young age you take him off the ice they're Vancouver but you have him on and
they're relevant and they're right there they are fading though he's had a drought if he doesn't
score they don't really have a chance and we're seeing that now he's so so young though their
futures bright they're building around him they need more and they're already ahead of schedule
from what i expected out of them this year but a really really bad loss to even stay in the race
at the end of the season St. Louis going nowhere yeah you get one you need the two points you need
more from him if you're really going to be the nvp he wasn't going to win it anyway but if you
really wanted it if he would have been hot at the end of the year and they would crawl in the playoffs
he could really argue for it maybe he'll win some in his future but fading the team fading
he's done for the awards they're done as a team futures bright though for sure
capitals beat the mammoth in Utah seven to four and nobody's really talking about this but
are we seeing the final games of Alexander Ovechkin I hope not if so he gave us another thrill
in this one with the hat trick goals 27-28-29 in the season he scored two in the second
period to tie it up then the cap scored four times in the third period to pull away and win it
and the great eight was able to get his 35th career hat trick by the way if you're wondering Wayne
Gretzky had 50 to be the all-time leader in that but still another great moment for Alexander
Ovechkin yeah I mean Gretzky stats are always going to live the test of time and be just insane
even with McDavid scoring as getting his 800th assist and scoring the 400th goal the graphics always
well Gretzky did this in 200 games fewer like it's just nuts and and McDavid's top three in terms
of fewer from was all these categories with him and him and him and then and then Gretzky for most
but yeah I hope Ovechkin's not done and the concern was that he wasn't happy this year that he
was getting depressed he wasn't loving it he said he was unhappy after the call some trade the
teams not really going anywhere question marks about the future and he wasn't having his best year
granted still certainly productive and when he scores there better but as of late he's turned it
on and as of late it looks like that either he's doing one of two things that he he wants us to
remember him like this and he's given us a few games where he can turn back the clock and give
us a hat trick or two and go out that way still high he he got Gretzky for the overall record of
goals in the playoffs and the regular season a thousand goals him and Gretzky the only two guys
ever to do it he obviously has the all-time mark for the regular season that he produced last year
he's the most prolific goal score in league history he does have a cup and all the other accolades
but I hope we'll get more if we're gonna have Crosby again and all the reports are he's certainly
coming back next year if not two three more years from what I know in Pittsburgh at least one more
from Ovechkin I would love give him a farewell tour or something and have him be reinvigorated the
entire year if they can do anything around him in the offseason but if it is the end for him
great to see another hat trick great to see him playing well down the stretch
but selfishly as a hockey fan I want more from Ovechkin than just these final two weeks
and last but not least the wild were at the Panthers in Minnesota pulling out a three to win
Joel Erickson X scored with five seconds left in regulation to win it for Minnesota
and maybe an important win 90 points they are they're three back at Dallas the stars we remember
lost earlier tonight so three points back of Dallas and the we know they're gonna meet in the playoffs
right uh so who gets home ice advantages it could be a big deal so Minnesota trying to see if
they can catch the stars yeah and Ford has done but Minnesota needs every point they can get
now while Bill Guerin every week is gonna complain about the playoff format and they shouldn't be
playing Dallas early I agree but it's not changing this year this is what it is and if they want to
have an easier time they need home ice they're a team that has not had a deep run for a very very
long time this core is certainly not done it together they have a group that can get it done they've
been good enough most of the year kind of been an undercard to the stars and and avalanche but
they're not far from Dallas they do play tough in those games they had some rough losses recently
and dropped some points recently so this is nice to see them play well and get this even
against the team that's not going anywhere but they are the back-to-back defending champs they're
gonna be tough obviously and to get one late in a game to get those two points is really really big
for Minnesota another team that maybe you want to root for because it's been so long for that
franchise in that city etc if you don't have a team that's gonna be in the postseason so a
necessary win is the phrase for the wild all right that'll do it for a very busy Thursday in the NHL
