I'm Eddie Garcia and L.A. King's fan out in Los Angeles and the host of Lockdown L.A.
King's.
I am Shukri Wright, sports radio host and producer of 97, 5, the fanatic Philadelphia
together will bring you the latest gold saves and highlights from across the NHL and what
has been a very busy night in and around the National Hockey League.
And Eddie, there are some games that we're like, whoa, okay, we got ourselves some storylines
tonight.
Fourteen games on the schedule, so let us waste no time.
We will start with one of the hottest teams in the NHL that is the Buffalo Sabers.
They were hosting the lowly Toronto Maple Leafs.
Two teams would exchange goals in the first period, Owen Power for Buffalo, Dakota Joshua
for Toronto.
They would exchange goals in the second period, Max Domey for the Leafs, Jack Quinn for
the Sabers, no goals in the third.
So we go to overtime and then in the shootout, it would be Jack Quinn and Alex Tucks going
for Buffalo.
A lot of three, two shootout victory Sabers now have 30 wins in their last 37 games, 36
and two.
The Buffalo Sabers continue to be one of the most amazing stories this season in the NHL.
One of, I would even push back playfully, probably the biggest story in the NHL this season.
I mean, if you go back to, I would say, let's say our own maybe Thanksgiving, we thought
that this team was going to be another lost season in Buffalo, all because of their GM.
They got right other GM.
Yeah, I mean, I think everybody had reason to believe that this was going to be another
lost season in Buffalo and that this team was in this organization was going to continue
to spin in place and here we are with the Sabers team that has not only turned it around,
but it's been on a historic dominant run, like pretty much like for a better part of
the last two and a half, almost three months now and we know that this team is beyond
for real.
And you know, like Jack Quinn, huge clutch and as well as the fact that ultimately like
we talk about like Buffalo, like one of the things that has really stood out to me during
this run for them is getting big goals and big moments and it was absolutely like critical
to see and you know, Jack Quinn was definitely the hero tonight for the Buffalo Sabers going
to game time, goal of the second period and as well as scoring another one in the shootout
as well.
Yeah, this one may be a little bit closer than people would have thought, but in the
end, Buffalo gets the two points and that's what they've been doing a lot.
So far this season, no surprise that the lightning and hurricanes are having solid seasons.
This two teams met up to the Eastern Conference top teams met up in Tampa, Carolina would
jump out to a two-nothing lead in the first Audrey's, fetch the cop is 24th and Sebastien
Alho is 24th.
The Tampa Bay Lightning would respond with a pair of goals in the second, Yani Gord is
8th and Charles Eduardo is to his 4th and then Carolina though comes back with two more
goals in the third, Jordan Martin, who is 9th and then Logan Stan, coven into an empty net.
His 13th Carolina gets the 4-2 victory and head coach Rod Brindemore gets his 600th.
I should say it was in his 600th game as a head coach that he gets the victory in this
one.
Carolina came in leading the Metropolitan Division by nine points.
They maintain that nine point advantage for Tampa Bay.
They fall four points back of Buffalo for the top spot in the Atlantic and the lightning
have actually lost seven of nine.
And for Carolina, hurricanes for me, I look at this team and say on any given night, one
of the things that made the Carolina Hurricanes dangerous about, they can beat you in a variety
of different ways.
Even though it may look ugly at certain times and in that second period, what was it ugly
before the Carolina Hurricanes, you've got to give credit to the time of the lightning
for coming back in that second period, Yani Gord, the deficit in the half and then Charlie
Ed Water on Dostos, tying up for the lightning at two.
But Carolina was able to find its game again and after a period, and that ultimately
ended up in the determining factor in this game for the Carolina Hurricanes.
In the game in the Eastern Wildcard race, you had the capitals hosting the Bruins, Boston
has had their struggles on the road and this one wasn't easy.
Capitals were kind of looking at this one as almost their last chance to gain some significant
ground in the wildcard race.
But it would be Boston pulling out the three to win in a lengthy shootout.
Let's get a report on this one from the host of Lockdown, Boston Bruins, Ian McClare.
Bruins have won a game on the road.
Wow, in this economy, can you believe it?
Charlie McClare boy with two goals in this one and Fraser Minton ended a nine round shootout
with a beautiful move past Logan Thompson to give the Bruins a much needed win on the
road here as they look to secure a playoff spot.
It wasn't always easy, but Charlie McClare boy with a couple big goals he's now up to nine
quietly having the best offensive season of his career.
And then after Mason Lorai had hit the pipe in round eight of the shootout, the rookie
Fraser Minton who had been elevated to the top line to start this game, I might add
as had been suggested on Lockdown, Boston Bruins yesterday.
He goes out and beats Logan Thompson to give the Bruins a huge road win and big two points.
They will now go to New Jersey to take on the Devils then Montreal to take on the Canadian
show.
Keep it going on the road, boys.
I don't know what the mood music I was, I heard the same thing, that's why I was making
faces.
I'm like, am I hearing what the heck am I hearing?
I don't know.
I don't know.
Some soothing tones behind our guy, Ian, Eddie, I was like, am I hearing what I think
this is?
That's why I was making faces.
I'm like, no.
I don't know.
He had some mood music going in the background after that stressful nine round shootout for
the Bruins, but they get the win.
Now you heard him jokingly say, maybe not jokingly, that the Bruins went on the road.
They had a six game road losing skid and they're 12, 14 and five on the road this year.
So they have had their issues away from home, so not a small thing for Boston to get that
road win for Washington.
They do get a point out of it, but they still are six points out of a wildcard spot.
And they'd have to jump multiple teams as well.
So Boston, a good win for them to keep hold of where they are in the wildcard race.
I mean, with that kind of music, it's with that kind of music, I can't get over the
music that Ian was playing in his background.
There's no wonder why the Bruins went nine rounds and with that kind of music, you can
set the right kind of mood for the wrong people.
However, be it as it may, be it as it may.
Man, you talk about how, for me, this was an important win for the Bruins and in which
that you lose you in the seven game road losing skid.
And then on top of that, today, it was as if like Charlie McAvoy got his flowers on national
television and he did, which was really refreshing that, you know, he's recognized as one of
the top 10 defensemen in the NHL right now.
And I think that that considering all things, like this was one heck of a, this was one
heck of a road win for the Boston Bruins.
And for Ian, if you want to play the music in the locker room polls game, he should, he
sure can.
He should because it definitely get, you know, people, you know, relaxed in the right mood,
you know?
I guess.
No, I liked it.
I liked it.
I liked it.
I was so thrown off.
I didn't expect it.
The Blue Jackets probably expected to be in a wildcard spot at least with the way they
have played since their coaching change.
And with the Bruins win, they would not gain ground on Boston, but they needed to win
to keep pace.
They do getting a two on victory in Philadelphia over the Flyers to hurt the Flyers playoff
chances.
Let's get a report on this from the host of Lockdown Columbus Blue Jackets, G Forster.
Chroma Chenco is just a cheat code.
That's, that's it.
That's the whole video.
No, Blue Jackets win two on inner shootout against the Philadelphia Flyers.
They are still not in a playoff position, but they are so, so, so close.
Another really great defensive game from the Blue Jackets.
Another slightly worrying lack of offense, but they get the win Chroma Chenco with the
goal in regulation and the shootout winner, which ended up being the only shootout goal
as well.
Give the man a black check.
July 1st, black check, give him the key to the Columbus, I don't care.
He was, he was the key to victory.
Jack Reaves also excellent now.
I feel like he got a little bit overshadowed in the, in the shootout, shut down all three
of Philadelphia skaters, including Trevor Zegress, who is no slouch in the shootout himself.
All in all, pretty good game.
I have some questions.
I'm going to talk about the Mason Marchment Fencing.
I would like to talk about the lack of offense, all of that stuff, and I'm going to do that
on Monday's episode of Locked on Blue Jackets.
Stay tuned.
All right.
Thanks to our guy, Jay Forster for that, the host of Locked on Blue Jackets.
So Columbus is still one point back of both Boston and Detroit for the final Wildcard spot
in the East.
They are knocking on the door.
We'll see if they can finally get over that finish line, 15, 2, and 4, since they made
the coaching change and brought in Rick bonus, so they're doing what they can.
For Philadelphia, they do get a point, but there's six point out in the Wildcard in the
East.
You know, for Blue Jackets, I got to give them credit because this was, this was one heck
of a game in Philadelphia this evening.
I had the privilege of producing the game, the game's highlights for a 97 about a fanatic,
the flagship home to Philadelphia Flyers.
And the thing that I took away was number one, what a battle in that on between Dan
Vardar and as well as Jack Reeves, and it was a doozy.
And in, you know, Carl Machinco, he scored the first goal for Columbus.
He scored the goal that wanted for the Blue Jackets in the shootout.
And, you know, what for the Flyers, like you had the opportunity to, you know, take the
lead in this game, you had, you had like a number of power play opportunities that you
could not cash in and, you know, for you to go over four on the man advantage speaks
to the issues that the, on that the Flyers have had all season long on the man advantage.
All right.
The Dallas stars have their sights on the top record in the NHL.
We'll give you the details in that next year and lock down NHL game night.

Oh,
college hoops is nonstop big games tight spreads momentum swings every single night from early tip
offs to late night west coast shootouts and there is always action on the board.
And now Fandall is giving you a way to turn that energy into even bigger potential wins
with a college basketball, parlay profit boost.
You can build any college hoops parley you want, rivalry games, rank matchups, whatever
benefits. You mix your spreads, totals and player props to match how you see the slate
playing out. Then you apply the profit boost and instantly bump up the potential payout.
Go safe. Go bold. Ride with the team. You've been following all season. It's your parlay,
your style now with more upside behind it. Head to fandual.com to get started. That's
fandual.com. Fan duel. Play your game. All right, let's keep it going. We had the stars
hosting the Red Wings. Dallas jumping out to a two-nothing lead. Wyatt Johnston is 36
of the year and trade deadline pickup. Michael Bunting gets his 14th on the powerplay. Detroit
though would respond with a pair of goals. In the third period, Simon Edmondson is ninth
and Lucas Raymond is 29th. But in overtime, Dallas defenseman Thomas Harley wins it with
his sixth goal of the year. And the stars get a three to victory. Detroit gets a point,
but actually drops from the number one wildcard spot to the number two wildcard spot on the
East mind Boston for Dallas. They extend their point streak to 15 games. It is tied for
the longest in franchise history. And the thing with this game about the Red Wings is that
they've now lost five or six, but also you talk about a team that definitely gave the
stars a good push in that third period in which that Simon Edmondson cut the lead and
half to make a two-one of them Lucas Raymond tying it at two a piece. This was the type
of game in which that I thought once the Red Wings tied it up that they were going to steal
momentum, but that was not to be. And you know, Thomas Harley, he's the hero for the Dallas
stars in this one, but for the Detroit Red Wings, the free fall continues unfortunately. And
now there is reason to be very concerned about what direction of the Detroit Red Wings are
going in terms of like the season because now they're in the second wildcard spot. Could
the Colorado avalanche be concerned right now? They were in Winnipeg taking on the jets. Of course,
the avas came in with the best record in the NHL, but they lose. Three won in this one. Kyle
Conner is 30. Alex, I have followers 11th and Cole Perfetti is ninth into an empty net. Conner,
hella buck one goal out on 29 shots. Winnipeg not throwing on the towel yet. They are six points
out of the final wildcard spot in the West, but for Colorado, their lead on Dallas is down to three
points in the central. And they will meet head to head two more times this season. Next Wednesday
in Colorado and then April 4th in Dallas. Clearly, it's going to be a big deal who wins the division.
Do you want to face the likes of LA, San Jose, Seattle, or Nashville? Or do you want to face Minnesota
in the first round? I think that's a pretty easy choice. So who knows? Maybe the best thing for
Colorado. They're going to be playing some meaningful games down the stretch, but Dallas is looking
to win a division title and help their playoff chances by maybe getting a bit of an easier path.
I mean, if you are Colorado, anyone but Minnesota in round number one, please, especially after what
happened last year against Dallas, nope, I'll take my chance away or anyone else. And in his
support, that I find to be funny. And I don't mean it in a little since like he, haha, but
if you're Colorado, your your concern is that your your your play does not begin to have you
slipping in the standings where you get caught with the wrong matchup on the wrong given night
in which that as you know, anybody can get gotten in the NHL. But if you're a Colorado have a
lunch, you want to be playing your best hockey going into the playoffs. And right now, you know,
Winnipeg, you know, a dangerous team in which that they've got nothing to lose that they're on
there out of it sort of, but not really. And, you know, Winnipeg, like they really showed up
tonight against the Colorado have a lunch.
Meanwhile, the wild lose on home ice to the Rangers by a score of four to two, New York's
scoring twice in the second period. Vincent Trocheck and Vladisov Gavirkov both getting their
13th goals of the season. They scored twice in the third period as well to get a fairly convincing
victory. Igor Sasturken did have a great game, 46 saves in net. Matt Boldie with a goal from Minnesota,
his three-eighth of the year. But the Rangers have been playing some pretty good hockey of late.
There's six one and two since the Olympic break and they've won four in a row. I'm sure Rangers
fans are not happy about that because they don't want them to win so they can increase their odds
of getting the number one overall pick. But it is what it is. Minnesota, meanwhile, six points
now back of Dallas for the race for home ice in the first round in their matchup against either
the stars or the avalanche. If you're in a wild, this was a little bit of a wake-up call and
wish that, hey, you got to, it was a tough going this afternoon offensively where they can seem
to get anything going offensively versus the Rangers in which that, the Rangers, they were
intent on, you know, like trying to at least continue the good run or run of late in which that
day of the day of look good offensively. Left in the year has looked much better as of late.
Joe Jack, Almey hasn't slipped at all. And I think that ultimately at the end of the day,
I'm from Minnesota, you definitely want to be able to continue to try to climb the letter
in the division as well. Meanwhile, we have the Islanders hosting the flames. New York with three
first period goals. Cases is 8th and Simon Holmes from scored twice. Numbers 15 and 16.
No goals in the second. Calgary tried to mount a comeback in the third with a couple of goals.
Michael Backlin is 15th. Blake Coleman is 16th, but they could not tie it up and the Islanders hold
on for a three to win as they are in a battle with Pittsburgh for home ice advantage in what is
likely their first round playoff matchup. You know, this was a critical win for the Islanders
and wish that they were able to hold off like the the Calgary flames and wish that when you talk
about when you talk about on like, you know, critical on goal tending performances, this was a
riddish making three of 36 for the Islanders. And also in terms of what the Islanders did tonight,
I thought it was, you know, it was really important to see, you know, Susika's like, you know,
I love it his game in this in this matchup. And he did exactly just that opening and scoring in
this game to give the Islanders a one nothing lead almost happy through the first period. But then
also, you know, you got to get credit or creditors do the third period, you know, like Calgary did
push back a little bit, but it was too little too late, but all in all in an important win for the
New York Islanders on this one. We have the penguins in Utah taking on the mammoth Utah jumping out
to a two nothing lead on a pair of goals from Dylan Gunther numbers 32 and 33. One of them on the
power play Pittsburgh responds in the second period Anthony Matthew gets his 25th Tommy no back
his 15th in the third Brian Russ scores his 24th on the power play for Pittsburgh Ian Cole former
penguin would tie it up for Utah with his third of the year. One final goal and it would come from
Noel Achari of the penguins his eighth. And that's your game winner is Pittsburgh pulls out a
four three road victory. So the penguins and Islanders remain tied both with 81 points. The penguins
do have a game in hand. So they right now have the tie breaker. So they would have that home ice
advantage over the Islanders if the situation remains the same once the season comes to an end.
For Utah, they are four points up on San Jose for the number one wild card spot in the West.
Utah's got to, you know, down the stretch, not leave any points on the table. And if you're
Pittsburgh, you know, like this was a big win in terms of their playoff chances as well. And
considering the fact that when you think about, you know, like what you saw tonight phone on
from Pittsburgh, I thought Anthony Matthew was always really huge in that second period. And as
well as, you know, like Noel Achari is going to game winner for for Pittsburgh as well. They're going
to be in a tight race with the Islanders like down the stretch. So it's going to be on interest
and see how they continue to play, especially without our sitting cross.
Vegas looking to move into first place and the sharks look to move back into a wild
card spot will tell you the details on that next here on Lockdown NHL game night.

All right we have the ducks in Ottawa taking on the senators in an early game leanest old mark
standing tall for the stands of 23 state shut out. Michael modio scores his 11th of the year
Thomas Shabbat is seventh short handed and the senators getting two one victory Ottawa gaining a
little bit of ground on the wild card chase they moved one point closer to Boston Detroit but still
five points back for anaheim they were looking to stay on top in the Pacific Division but they open
the door for Vegas which we'll talk about in a second. I thought that this was a critical winter for
the Ottawa senators especially getting that shut out on one on one part I'm really impressed with
Linus old mark on how he's looked in this game but then also number two and then the same breath
I'm also really impressed with what the sitters have been able to do in terms of you know like
you know being comfortable playing in these tight games and tonight was a tight tight game affair
for for a sense so like ultimately like if this is a center scene that's going to make a run
for a playoff spot you know they have to get comfortable playing in these two nothing games
which they clearly showed that they were tonight. So the Golden Knights had an opportunity to move
in the first place in the Pacific they were hosting the black hawks and this one was over early
Vegas jumping out to a three nothing lead they get goals from pop out the office 33rd on the power play
Rasmus Anderson gets his 12 Keegan colissari sixth and then Dorop v off for good measure would
add his second power play goal the game later on for 34 goals now in the season plenty of offense
for Aden Hill who tossed a 21 save shut out Vegas with a four nothing win and they are now on top
in the Pacific region they are one point up on the anaheim ducks and this is a critical win for
the Vegas Golden Knights in which that in which that Dorop failed for what he was massive with the
two goal performance tonight and as well as like seeing what I was able to see from Aden Hill a
21 save like shut out against Chicago that was absolutely like massive in more ways than one and
also when you talk about like Dorop v who was really beginning to heat up offensively he also
had two goals in assistant and in the Golden Knights six to win over the penguins on Thursday as well
so he's been on the heater as of it offensively which is a welcome sight for the Golden Knights as
well as we move close to the playoffs. All right my LA Kings were in New Jersey a big game against
the Devils New Jersey jumps out to a two nothing lead first period goals from Cody Glasses 15th
Nico Esher is 22nd the Kings though respond with three straight goals in the second period
Ajay Koopatari's ninth on the power play our teni penaren is 22nd and Taylor Ward is third but the
third period belong to New Jersey they score four goals Jack Hughes gets the game one in a late
on the power play one of two power play goals in the third for New Jersey as they win this one
by score of six to four LA did get a third period goal from Ajay Koopatari's second of the game
and that goal did put him into history for the LA Kings he moves past Marcel Dion
Ajay Koopatari now the all-time leading scorer for the Kings would have loved to have gotten
in a win to help their playoff chances but still a great great milestone for one of the greatest
LA Kings of all time. Oh without question and this part of the reason why I'm genuinely happy for
Ajay Koopatari congratulations to Kopee for becoming the all-time scoring champion for the Los Angeles
Kings you know he had the two goal games on this evening against the Devils but also when you
talk about New Jersey like you know the thing that that you have to also really like is what you
saw from Jack Hughes and this one to which that you know like his presence was very much felt
like throughout this game and and in the way that his teammates have responded to him I think
that's also like that that part was also really important for the Devils as far as the the Kings
were concerned I did feel as if that they did um even though that their power play in this game
there were two for three in the power play um wasn't the power yeah it was there there were two for
three in the power play I did think that ultimately like if you are like if you're the Kings you
have to be able to make on make a stop and then you're able to make a um a timely kill because
ultimately what did you and was to Jack Hughes on power play gold that that gave the the Devils
elite so the Kings lost open the door for the sharks if they could win in Montreal and thanks to
McLean Celebrity they would get a 4-2 victory let's get the details from the host of Lockdown
San Jose Sharks JD on McLean Celebrity continues to his dominance as he all adds two goals and
it assists in the sharks four to two win over the Montreal Canadians celebrating now up to 35 goals
on the season and continuing to be one of the bright superstars in the league eager sure to shop
though was the story the 20-year-old who was just recalled from San Jose bear could have gets
knocked out of the game 28 seconds into it with no penalty called uh and you could tell from
there the sharks really took it to heart and tried to kind of come back and win this game after
being down one nothing but the sharks coupled with a Kings loss puts them back into the playoffs
as of Saturday night all right thanks to JD young for that so yes the sharks do get the last wild
car spot in the west for the moment they are one point up on the Kings McLean Celebrity could
you just do good things for them cold coffee by the way in the loss did get his 38th goal over
year set a new career high for Montreal they are still two points back of Tampa Bay for second in
the Atlantic division you know Montreal this was a tough loss for the Canadians on tonight at the
Bell Center but however for the San Jose sharks this was a critical win for them in terms of
their you know like their playoff chances on but of course as you've seen for much of the year
Mac and Celebrity continues to you know like to to Mac and and can and absolutely connect and he
has done that and he did it again tonight score 34th goal of the year and as well as the the fact
that like at this point when the game is increasing in points use your seeing Mac and Celebrity really
step up huge offensively and tonight he had a two goal performance I'm I just mentioned the first
one the second one is an empty netter to put the game away for the San Jose sharks as well so
this is something that I think the sharks are going to all need to build on a continue to do moving
forward and one final game we have the Kraken in Vancouver against the Cadux Seattle scored two goals
in the first period Jared McCann is 17th and Bobby McMahon is 20th on the power play they
led two one after one Jamie Alexiak scored the only goal the second is fourth and then Bobby
McMahon and Maddie Berniers scoring in the third to put it away from McMahon is second of the game
21st of the season Berniers gets his 18th five two Seattle with the wind to snap a four game skid
and they are also one point back of San Jose for that final wild card spot in the West.
This was a huge win for the Seattle Kraken in which that like Bobby McCann stepped up huge
offensive yet to the three point performance tonight two goals and assist and and and also
you know like being able to end their four game losing streak in their win against the Vancouver
Cadux was absolutely critical also in conclusion I will say that it was it was definitely good
for the San Jose sharks to to from the jump pretty much you know like you know assert their like
their dominance and and and like this was a huge win for the Seattle Kraken and wish that they
look to keep on keeping things in the in the playoff race as well.
