that's right for you.

Oh yeah, that's right.
I've got feet.
Look about guys, happy Friday, DGES.
Humanist pass 4PM.
87 degrees or something.
I think Dave said we set the record today.
Tomorrow 82, okay?
And then Sunday closer to 90.
So enjoy that if you're warm weather people.
George May, he's here from St. Louis magazine.
So basketball and donuts.
I can get down on that.
And scooters.
Yeah, yeah, scooter weather.
This, yeah, you missed last week.
It was the typical Dave Glover show.
I came in expecting to talk about something.
Yeah.
And I've mentioned that I was a little under the weather
because I'd been eating donuts all day.
You poor thing.
Prepping for the donut podcast, which is coming up.
Yeah.
And so this was last Friday.
And it was like I just wound these two guys,
but Wheeler and Rachel up.
And I didn't know they were such donuts.
And of course they were upset that I didn't bring them any.
And so we just went on and on and on.
And what you don't know Rachel and Dave is that that was Friday.
I continue to eat donuts Saturday, Sunday, and Monday morning.
Prepping just kind of, if we're going to talk about the best donuts,
we kind of have to get around and make the rounds a little bit.
And not that we made them completely,
but I did my damnedest.
So yeah, five pounds later, here I am, Dave.
Yeah.
No, donuts are a religion to me, man.
Going all the way back to my 16th birthday, first day of work, and Mr.
Donut.
And yesterday, I had a chocolate chip cookie from out front.
And someone said, how's the cookie?
And I said, never made a chocolate chip cookie.
I haven't liked.
I've met many donuts I haven't liked.
Yeah.
Donuts can go back.
Yeah.
And that's one of the the gripes that we had is there's nothing worse than you
looks great.
And then you bite into it and you go, this is a day old donut or two day old
donut.
You just didn't know.
And you know, you're in the car and you're driving.
It's like, do I really want to drive this thing back and make a big scene?
No.
But you're sure.
You know, you just go to the next donut shop is what you do.
I have.
Go ahead, Rich.
Well, I was going to ask you, Dave.
Your Mr. Donut was that in Roxana?
No, it was the one in the islands.
They're installed by Eastgate.
Oh, okay.
Well, there's still a Mr. Donut on Homer Adams Parkway.
Only one in the world.
Oh, only one in North America.
Okay.
There are a lot of Mr. Donuts over in Asia.
Oh, wow.
Extremely popular.
I can see.
I go there and work.
I mean, the recipe is different.
Like, they're much less sweet.
But I think it's really cool that there's one left in North America and it's in all.
I mean, that might technically be, is that Godfrey at that point, Andrew?
I think it's right on the border.
It's like right on the border of the two.
That's the biggest one in Asia by like a huge margin of error.
That was our sister, Mr. Donut.
Oh, okay.
So did you ever go pick up a shift there?
Oh, that's cool.
Yeah.
That's cool.
Are you a mochi donut fan?
Uh, you know, I don't know if I've ever had one.
But I know they have like a couple of these, these spots like out in South County and stuff.
Yeah.
There's one out in Chesterfield and it's made with this rice flour, this glutinous.
So they're, they've got a chew to them, which is a little different.
You know, most of them are cakey and light and they melt in your mouth.
But this one's got a little going on and it's, it looks like kind of a necklace.
It's got little balls and you just, you know, pick off these balls one at a time and
eat the donut that way.
It's just a cool little thing.
But, uh, I'm surprised there aren't more of those in town because it's a really good
donut.
I mean, you know, just as donuts go, it's, it's a, it's a great option.
So I know the, like the place is going for it.
It's, it's 408.
I'm going for 420.
We're talking about donuts.
I mean, we could easily, we could, we could, we could, we could go past the show to
redden rush hour.
Just preempted.
I find that very few places have really good yeast donuts and cake donuts.
Okay.
That's a good option.
Many of them have one or the other.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And there was a couple that we had.
Cheryl and I were taste testing these.
We, we taste test them during this segment, which we've never really done, but people
go, we like when you do that.
I said, we just have to make sure we're not chewing while we're on, but, but a couple
of the observations were, I'll, if we could have this base donut and that icing
or, you know, we're, I'm trying to combine the two, but we were really, really getting
into it.
But, uh, called out a few really good shops and, uh, anyway, this episode comes out next
Tuesday and, uh, and, but the funny part of it was, you know, we'd been going around
and I had all these bags of donuts sitting on my counter, which ended up going into the
freezer because that's the only way I could do it.
But Cheryl calls me up.
She goes, I got some really bad news.
I go, what?
She goes, I was out buying all these donuts and I put them on the counter way back
on the counter and her six foot tall, great Pyrenees, every donut.
Wow.
Over a dozen knocked out over a dozen donuts and she goes, I should have known because
it's not the first time she's dead.
So she had to go back out and get more donuts with the dogs just sitting there with this
smile on and I go, weren't they in like a bag or she goes eight right through the box
that didn't, didn't slow her down.
The whole thing gone.
Wow.
But anyway, that's, uh, I would say, um, I would say, um, I would say, um, I would say,
I would say, fairos, old town, Tony's donut driving.
That's a, that's a good, probably my Mount Rushmore of St. Louis.
That's pretty strong.
Um, how about sweet spot out in Maryland Heights?
Haven't had it.
Haven't had it.
Haven't had it.
Really strong.
Uh, yeah.
There's, um, fairos is, is, we had a couple from pharaohs for sure.
And old, old town is on up in fluorescent.
That's, that's Cheryl's favorite for sure.
How about, uh, don't stop in Limey?
Haven't had that either.
Ooh, I've had that, uh, I've never been out there, but I've had it door dashed actually.
You know what?
It was, I walked in there and this place is just hopping and buzzing and you could tell
they've been doing this for a long time, 73 years they've been doing this and they,
they got the world's best donut in Missouri award a couple of years ago and I could just
tell that these people were professionals for sure.
And I said, I had to, had a minute in my 70s years, I've never been down here.
I said, and I'm really, uh, I'm really sorry about that, but oh, wow, uh, some, some
really good, I mean, exceptional donuts.
So there's two more.
Okay.
Yeah.
Glad you told me.
Yeah.
Absolutely.
But it's, you know, one of the things we said is you've got to make sure you're there.
Uh, you got to get to these places early, early, early, early, early, early.
There was, um, that is south town donuts.
And I got there at like nine, one day and he was close and I got there at like eight,
30 the next day and he was close, not close, but he was out of donuts and I go, he was
just got to come earlier.
And so I went, I went three days in a row and I get there the next day at six a.m.
I get out of home, I butt out of bed and go down there and, and he goes, I can't believe
you did this.
I go, how many people came in in the last hour from five to six?
He goes 30.
Wow.
Isn't that amazing?
Yes.
And they're gone by nine.
He said, we're up, we're open till noon, but we never stay open till now.
I developed my love of donuts, I missed your donut, but it ruined me in a way because
I would just like a classic glaze.
So you make the donuts, you put them on the stick, you run them through the glazer, you
hang them up and then you eat them.
Like there's nothing like a still too hot donut with glaze pouring off.
Crispy cream, but just, you know, they made a marketing, you know, they're hot now.
That's the best thing ever.
And you know what, when they're hot now, there's nothing better and they do, they melt
in your mouth.
So, yeah.
Okay.
I might go on and get some more donut.
I was going to go for fish fry.
I think that crispy cream is to donuts, what white castle is the burgers.
Yeah.
They are not my favorite donut, but when I get a taste for it, nothing else will do.
No, that's true.
And in a hot one, when they turn that sign on, you know, people just, they'll go off
on two wheels to get there, right?
So, places to watch the tournament.
Yeah.
There's lots of places to watch the tournament and, you know, we do this every year.
We call them around up.
We'll give you the best places to have, you know, an Easter brunch where that one we've
just done too.
But yeah, we've got best places to watch the NCAA, you know, the March Man is Tournament.
And instead of, you know, I'm not going to run through the whole list, but what I thought
I'd do is maybe give you a couple highlights from a couple places that are on the list.
So just in case you don't know about these places, out in Chesterfield, at four hands at
the district, you know, that news, have you been out there to hang out at all?
It's really, finally, it's kind of filled in and there's, there's synergy going on and
it feels complete.
And I mean, you know, they've got that massive big screen out there.
And you know, when it's 80, 85 degrees, I'd be hanging out there, I think, over the weekend
and watching it outside, you can get a beer from four hands.
You can get, you know, a slushie from from our walls.
You could get something alcoholic that way.
You can get a pizza from Napoli brothers.
You can get a high point drive in burger and just hang out on the green there.
That's, you know, people don't realize that they go out to the factory and they go out,
you know, they've got a specific place in mind, but you can just go hang out there and
just kind of lounge, which, you know, that's, I think that's pretty cool.
That's, that's what I'd do.
I love, because I've driven past that property thousands of times when it was nothing, when
it was the mall and now that it's that, and it just amazes me how one thing cannot work
at all, like just be like irrelevant, you mean like the mall, like the mall, what's
cause there was two of them.
And, and wasn't that something that was ever that, what a, what a pizza match that
was.
How did that ever happen?
I know.
And why did nobody say, wait a minute, what's going on here?
One of these guys isn't going to make it.
I, I just, anyway, that's, but at least it's developed into something that's, that's
very, very cool.
There's a, before we go, there is a place that just opened up on the fifth of March in
all of that, right at 170 and, and all of their, and it's a chain.
There's 50 of these, but it's called the brass tap.
Did you ever see anything?
You know, they've got, but what I like about it is they've got this giant screen.
It's, it's 12 feet by seven feet.
You know, it's one of these.
They've got a bunch of TVs, you know, melded together, but it looks like one big screen.
And it just opened up.
So it's, it's not like this, the screen's been here a while, like it's starting to fade
a little bit.
This thing's so bright.
It's like, oh my god, this is, this is like I'm right there.
So this place has got, you know, it's really, really good food and wonderful owners and
it just opened up.
So this is one of those places that I predict, you know, every place is busy as hell right
now, right?
Everybody's out watching these games.
This is a place I think that you could probably get into because nobody knows about it yet
because it just opened up a couple of weeks ago.
What is it again?
It's called the brass tap and they've got 40 tap beers, 20 of them are local.
But they've got a full bar and they've got this and they've got the cocktails and they
have wine and the owners are just the nicest couple in the world.
And this is something they've always wanted to, they've always wanted to open a restaurant
and they said, you know, I said, well, you know, isn't craft beer kind of, you know,
on the downside a little bit, you know, how do you answer that question?
He said, you know, we're a whole lot more.
We've got a full bar.
We've got this.
We've got that and the food's good.
And he's right.
So basically, he said, hey, if you love craft beer, you're going to love this place.
And if you don't love craft beer, you're going to love this place.
That's that kind of deal.
So, you know, every time I met Nick and Phoe but I tap down to large, I've had a million
beers in my life.
But the craft beer thing missed me and so I don't appreciate it the way other people do.
But every time I go to a place like that, I have fun.
Yeah.
Because I'll say, hey, here's my taste.
Yeah.
I don't like stuff real funky.
Just treat me like I'm a 15 year old girl and they're like, I've got it right here.
And those guys know and they've got hundreds to pick from so wait, I got, I got five
you're going to like, you want to sit down and stay a while?
Well, I could take care of you, Dave, but you know, and places like that, you can bring
your own food.
You can bring in a ham sandwich from home if you want to or you can order from a restaurant.
I know.
And ask you before I let you go.
Did you see the story?
I'm sure you did.
I've assumed Ruth's Chris in capital and Morton's in places that all have dress codes.
The Ruth's Chris came out with a formal one that said, if you're wearing a hat and a
few other things, you know, swimwear, we're going to see you in the bar and people are
losing their minds over this.
Like get some good booth people.
I'm okay with that with the rules with the rules.
Yes.
I am because, you know, I just think, you know, flip-flops in the dining room of a steakhouse,
just sorry, just just think about this for a second.
But there's a lot of people that disagree with me and again, you get into resort areas
and you get to stretch that a little bit.
When I just came back from a Jupiter and you could pretty much go to any really nice place
wearing, you know, cardinal gear, but that's the beach.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And I was there too and it's the same kind of thing.
I brought some kind of nice shirts and I didn't wear any of it because nobody else
was.
I would look silly.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You got to kind of temper it a little bit.
Yeah.
I like for it.
For a nicer place like that, I just think there should be some rules.
Do you want to be able to find the podcast at anywhere podcasts or sold, bought and sold?
Yeah.
Donuts on Tuesday and I predict that it will be the biggest, the biggest best episode
ever.
And that's the Arch Eats podcast.
Yes.
Thank you.
Yeah.
She said.

For one, do a little fast food news?
I'd love to do some fast food news.
So since we were just talking about the NCAA Tournament with George, you can imagine some
fast food places have some specials for the tournament as well.
Pizza Hut is introduced a new space jam triple treat box.
So it comes with two medium pizzas featuring the brand's hand tossed crust along with breadsticks
and cinnamon sticks.
And it's all served in a limited edition space jam themed packaging.
It's going to go around $2,199 for this bundle.
Do you know what pizza I recently had that was really good?
I'm going to.
Yes.
You had Domino's the other day.
There's a new in downtown.
You know, I've never, I've had a bazillion Domino's pizzas, you know, law school and stuff.
I don't remember being that good.
It was really quality.
Well, I think that Domino's is also killing it.
I mean, they're doing a good job.
Yeah.
Yeah, they're doing really well.
I've been very, I mean, it's brand new.
You know, we've seen it happen a few times where a place downtown opens really strong
and then kind of fades over time, I think downtown wears on a lot of businesses.
But that's not for Wizzies, not for the week.
No, not at all.
But thus far it has been an excellent Domino's KFC is also tipping off the college basketball
season with 20 wings for $20, which if you do the math, individual wings at KFC typically
cost around $1.79, so that $20 for $20 deal delivers close to half off regular pricing.
And they are announcing the return of Nashville hot chicken.
I don't know if I ever had that from the KFC, but you can get those wings in original
honey barbecue or Nashville hot chicken.
I do not like Nashville hot chicken.
Really?
I love chicken.
I love hot things.
So I love it.
Lessons COVID is ruined my salt taster because so many things that are hot are spiced
that have salt at sucks.
I don't have long COVID.
I didn't die.
I'm okay.
I think this is long.
But it kind of blows when, you know, some people never got their taste back.
But I just have this crazy salt sensitivity.
And Taco Bell is introducing a new crispy chicken crunch wrap slider.
I know Andrew's excited for this one.
And they're also doing a cantina chicken rolled quesadilla.
That's intriguing.
I like all of it.
How's the cantina menu?
Oh, I think it's delicious.
It's good.
Yeah.
I didn't like it at first.
I think I might have gotten like a bad throw or something the first time I tried it,
but then I tried again.
It's really fresh and yummy.
I almost don't know exactly what the difference is between like a cantina chicken quesadilla
and like a regular one, but I know that the cantina ones are good.
It comes with the specials avocado sauce.
Oh, that's, yeah, yeah.
The avocado sauce is good.
And we'll wrap up here by talking about the fact that Sonic is debuting some new refreshers
made with real fruit.
They all sound quite yummy.
They're also doing a new strawberry horchata cream slush for all of our horchata lovers
out there.
Hey, what's up, flies?
