This is Alabama wide receiver, Jeremy Benard.
His teammates call him Uncle Germ and that's exactly how he plays on the football field.
Am I right?
He's not winning the speed.
He's not winning with burst.
But whatever he's doing works to me.
That's like settling at his own coverage, finding space in the scramble drill,
signlight awareness, taking a big shot over the middle to me.
He's Mr. Dirty work.
His profile sometimes takes like two steps forward in some areas and then two steps back,
which means it goes right down the middle.
So six foot one two oh six about average four four eight one five two ten yards,
but about average 22 years of age, which is nice.
Above average three Conan broad jump below average, vert and shuttle.
Okay, so one jump one one agility drill, one jump and one agility drill.
Yeah, but at least for him like shout out for doing everything.
And he really does everything in this offense.
I mean, he was used in every single way a wide receiver or pass catcher
or offensive weapon could be on an NFL field.
He was a stationary X.
He was the movement Z into a stack, even screens and backfield steps that he got.
I mean, that's equal what for rushing scores over the course of his college career.
18 carries.
I mean, he's a true utility player.
He can do a bit of everything for you on the field.
Yeah, that's exactly what he is.
There's so many prospects that he reminded me of.
But really it's just the core of it is just in breaker, in breaker, in breaker.
And it doesn't look special, but it's just effective.
And I think that he has very reliable hands.
And he just knows where to be.
And I think there's a reason why he moved across the formation.
And he also transferred with the coaching staff.
And he was kind of playing like the Jalen Polk role.
Obviously, plug your ears.
If you're if you're team just drafted them.
But there's a reason why he's moving everywhere.
He's very cerebral.
There's a reason why he was the leader in the locker room for this team.
And there's a reason why even though Ryan Williams is Mr.
five star and probably going to be a first round player eventually.
Jeremy for John, just like eight is lunch.
And that's just like the veteran leadership of the Jeremy Bernard.
He's career so far Michigan State first freshman season.
Then went to Washington, played next to Ramadunse, Jalen Polk,
Jalen McMillan.
I think even had 400 yards along with those days.
Then followed the head coach to Alabama.
Like you said, over the last two seasons.
And even this is pregnancy, 82% tall hands, 13% tile arm length on top of it.
It does stun me though.
With all these five star recruits or four star recruits that Alabama has.
He was the one that was used like the best athlete at White receiver.
On the team.
Like he was the manufacturer guy.
He was the one that they said, well, we have to get him open.
I mean, again, the movement pre snap, the motion into free releases in the stacks,
the screens and the manufacturer touches.
That is typically not what you see at a big time program like Alabama.
Out of one of these like middle of the road athletes.
But even with the bonus hands, Hayden, I thought he was very good at reading his blocks,
maximizing whatever athleticism he does have.
You can tell he like cares about the game.
He cares about his team.
He wants to win.
He doesn't want to make mistakes on any given rep.
I think he had about a 3% drop rate during his entire career.
He, you know, has great technique catching the football hands just directly in his face,
plucks it away from his frame.
And so it's like checking the box all around.
But it's like, you know, three and a half stars versus I didn't see a single air
that was four or five stars.
I think it was a really good point after the catch wise.
I mean, he's got that toughness.
I think he's got a little bit of flexibility, which is why his three comes in the 88th percentile.
You know, like you said, the verticals, the 10th percentile.
So it's just the different style of athlete here.
But he does read his blocks well.
I do think he just like has a great feel for the game, which is why I think he's a very effective zone player in particular.
So to me, the question becomes in theory, this is a very high floor player.
In the NFL though, sometimes he's high floor players.
They just don't have enough juice to get it done.
That to me is the question.
He's going to probably go in the second round.
I think that's a fair range.
There's always a lot of volatility and second round wide receivers.
It's not that he's going to drop the ball or not know where to be lined up or any of that type of stuff.
It's just when an NFL caliber corner is in your hip pocket.
Do you have enough juice to make it worthwhile?
And I think that he might have enough kind of late separation.
Fight off of great hands that you're talking about where I do think he's going to pass that test.
But I do think it is we're at that athletic threshold where like how much of this is going to actually translate to the next level.
Totally fair.
I think all of that is at the same time, I would say that there are many other occasions where he was wide open.
And then the second half of the season, his quarterback just flat out missed him.
I mean, stay out of it over his head.
And he looked behind thinking it was going to a different pass catcher.
Let's put it that way.
Our buddy, Rich Rebar pointed this out.
Pass catchers in this class with 25% of their targets being uncatchable.
He has fifth on that list at a 27%.
And that's attached to apparently the quarterback too in this class.
I also think he plays and rise through contact quite well.
I mean, the easy comparison that everyone's immediately going to write down, especially because he just got a nice for agent deal.
Is Romeo Dobbs.
We have the running joke with him that if he was five or 10% worse in any area, then you know, Romeo Dobbs would not have signed a $8.6 million dollar cap charge for 2026.
And then this four year 68 million dollar contract on top of it.
But I guess what he did because he was the only wide receiver that Matt LaForing company would trust to be out there in every single moment and every single formation.
Romeo Dobbs is one of my comps here.
I also had Jacobi Myers if he's going to play a little bit more of the slot.
I think that maybe Jacobi has maybe a little bit of an extra gear that Jeremy Bernard might not have.
I think generally like we're talking about the hopefully the number three in the past game of an NFL offense, whether it's the second wide receiver.
There's a great tight end.
I think the third target is kind of where he belongs.
Maybe he could be the second guy.
But I think he's going to be like this like number three type, which I think if you're getting that in the second round.
And there's a high floor attached with it. I think that's a worthwhile selection.
Yeah.
I think again, that Jeremy Bernard was asked to do a bit more than what Romeo Dobbs was in college.
At the same time, Marvin Jones, Kendrick Bourne, these are other names that I kind of threw out there with Jeremy Bernard.
They can pop up for massive games of every single thing hits.
But on like an individual basis or are they the ones that are going to like care you in these moments.
Yep.
Probably not also great sideline feel like toe taps, toe drags.
Just understanding I got to twist my body and make sure I get in bounds with at least one foot.
Yeah.
Again, like all these things that are under his control.
He does at a high level and does it well.
Correct.
I'm just nervous that these things that are out of his control.
They can't be improved.
And so like is the ceiling already matched.
And is that going to be an effective number three pass catcher in the NFL?
Which by the way, some of these number three pass catchers in the league are now tight ends.
And we're running less 11 personnel than we have of the last like five, six years.
So even with that regard, he might not be like a 75% player in the league.
Another guy here might be of Jalen McMillan, which is the same exact offense we're talking about here.
And Jalen McMillan and the pros at some points.
He's been kind of the manufactured guy and let's also say with the Liam Cohen.
There's wide ass open for a lot of plays.
But there's a reason why they were giving him the ball.
And can sometimes win down the field.
But I think for a lot of it, it's kind of in that intermediate.
So yeah, I think Jalen pole could be the if you can't catch the ball version of this.
I don't know we have to worry about that.
I think it's the Romeo dobs is like kind of the upside call and dobs really developed in the pros.
I think I'm with you here.
We're signing that for Jeremy Bernard like today's version of Jeremy Bernard.
That's the version we're getting.
And I think you have to feel comfortable like is that the 40th overall pick is that the 65th overall pick.
I think that's generally the range here.
He's not going to be the guy that changes your franchise around.
I do think he could be a part of a very functional offense though.
One more thing he controls is blocking like there were a number of tight to the left tackle condensed blocking reps.
Yep.
He's very willing to do it.
There were some solid reps.
But then there are other times again where he loses the leverage or he overextends and lets his man, you know, beat his edge or make the tackle on top of it.
Obviously not the biggest guy when it comes to all that stuff.
And if he kind of just improves his technique again, the willingness to stick his nose in there against these like Oklahoma linebackers or whoever else definitely stood up to me.
So in the end, just overall where would you take Jeremy Bernard?
He's mid to late second round type of player in that range.
Like if he felt like a contending offense in the second round, like I think like that's, you know, he's going to be able to play for like a contending team like right away.
So if that's kind of where he belongs, that's, that's awesome.
I don't know if you could take this guy inside the top 40 or so.
Now it's a really bad class at anything's possible.
And then the other thing we've kind of mentioned, but just so odd.
He got 18 carries at Alabama, like legit carries like what is going on here?
Like that's, and that's like a wild stuff.
They utilize some of the coolest plays in the playbook where he would motion into the backfield and then run the jit routes out of the backfield.
Everyone was, you know, confused where he's going to line up.
Even his quarterback sometimes again, who just ended up in situations.
Yeah, yeah.
I mean, faith flickers, weird stuff going on with this offense as a wild.
Yeah, I mean, again, the quarterback second half of the season, we have a whole Tyson Simpson video on the channel.
Hope you guys watch it.
But like the Oklahoma game, the Auburn game, I understand back injuries that all kind of piled up, but like,
man, the accuracy placement fell off a cliff.
Yeah.
I'd rather take Jeremy Bernard than Tyson Simpson.
If I had both of them were needs, I think I would just be like, I give me the guy that I think is going to provide some utility for me.
There it is.
I was trying to stretch until we got that information out of you here for this video.
Again, this is why NFL teams, I mean, so interesting in this draft, these wide receivers, because you stack Jeremy Bernard against Chris Brazell or Ted Hurst.
Chris Bell.
Yeah.
Which one of these guys are I want to draft?
And they're wildly wildly different.
So if you don't know about the names I just mentioned or you want to learn more, again, we have videos already on the channel about those guys.
