And I suppose we have to phrase it as Janus versus the Bucks.
Camille's will dig into whether or not we see Janus again this season.
And ESPN put together a list of their best and worst moves of the off season.
The Bucks came in in one of those categories is what the spoiler is.
We'll give you the details on that coming up in just a second.
But we start with the latest in the never ending saga.
That is Janus in the Bucks and ESPN and NBA media is the bystander here.
That's just kind of poking the bear along the way.
But it started yesterday, two days ago.
Whenever this is you listen to it with some choice phrasing from champ
Sherania on his tweets over the release of Cam Thomas.
And now today we see the NBA players association is fighting the battle on behalf of
Janus that some very strong wording and the more recent story from ESPN that they view this as the Bucks tanking.
And Janus rebuking their offers to just shut it down for the season according to their reporting.
Janus believes he is at no risk of further injury by playing wants to come back and play because of the competitor that he is.
And the Bucks are just tarnishing the integrity of the game by tanking here and holding him out.
It's it's so interesting because tanking has been the hot topic this season in the NBA with you know seen the jazz get fine seeing the
And I keep coming back to like yeah teams are going to do this because one of the best ways to improve your team is by hitting in the draft being able to get one of these top tier players and build around that right.
And ideally in the NBA's dream world tanking wouldn't happen because tanking is when teams are trying to pull strings in order to make themselves worse than what they actually are holding out players, whatever the case may be.
In the case of the Milwaukee Bucks this season this has not been a tanking season for the Milwaukee Bucks the Milwaukee Bucks have just been bad more often than not and here they are sitting what 11 tied for 11th in the east right now.
So that is what it is so to see the statement that came out from the national basketball players association on behalf of Janus which in full red.
The player participation policy was designed by the league to hold teams accountable and ensure that when an all star like Janus out of decouple is healthy and ready to play he is on the court.
Unfortunately anti tanking policies are only as effective as their enforcement fans broadcast partners and the integrity of the game itself will continue to suffer as long as ownership goes unchecked.
We look forward to collaborating with the NBA on meaningful new proposals that will directly address and discourage tanking in quote and here's the thing.
If Janus was fully healthy personally I want to see him on the court the problem that has been reoccurring this season is that it looks as if every time he comes back he's coming back a little early.
He's actually one of the times he acknowledged that yes and he did the last was at the second I can't keep up at this point the second time he messed his calf up where he was like yeah yeah and where he left in the nuggets game yes yes I came back to early so like understanding the type of player that he is somebody who is willing to push his body to the limit willing to say i'm all right when the truth is i'm quite a bit banged up right now we applaud him for it you know like during the NBA finals where he's.
He came back from a gruesome knee injury help lead the team to the first championship in 50 years but in the season like this one where that you have now missed the most games of your career and the season where every time you come back something else has popped up it could be in the best interest of your overall health to just sit but again if we find out because the initial injury report on this hypersand and he was what he'll be reevaluated in a week or so.
Hey if two weeks after that he's clear to go get back on the court but I think the bug side of things and it's not like i'm talking to people there but they want him to be healthy because whether he's on this team or he has traded this summer his health is of the utmost importance.
I just I mean.
I can speak for two thirds of the group that they specifically called out here and they're strongly worded statement where was this message and where is this message for that matter when the Utah Jazz continue to do what they do on the basis and look you can cling to the well the jazz aren't actually tanking and they've had injuries and.
I've seen not going to single anyone out here but I've seen a lot of people kind of change their tune on whether or not taking it's not and is it bad and in the you and I have talked about the culture that it can create.
Not just tanking but prolong losing and like point you don't want to lose you want your young players to experience a better system and culture and winning and that helps develop talent more than anything else.
Where's the message for what you talk is doing and like yes guys have been shut down with injuries and surgeries some of those surgeries seem very elective and what they're doing out there but by my count here the Utah Jazz Camille so looking through the last one two three four five six games.
In four of those games they played eight players in one of those games they played nine players one of those eights has been on a 10 day contract.
The rest of the group I mean honestly instead of just doing half court shots for $10,000 or whatever we do in arenas name four players that are playing tonight for the Utah Jazz and if you can do that you win $20,000 is what we should start doing because that's what it's reached so where's the message here with what you toss doing and the first.
The fact that it goes beyond that and what we saw prior to all of this of well we're too competitive we're just going to sit guys in the fourth quarter like that is just as ridiculous and damaging like I know we're closer to this so you can say well you're biased but come on.
The guy is clearly hurt in anything that you've watched in recent games you can see this is not the version of the honest that we have grown accustomed to seeing he is dealt with nicks and things throughout this year multiple times each time he's come back he has looked like a lesser version of himself whether that is he him acknowledging and saving himself to prevent injury whether or not he's just subconsciously I got to get out there and play the fact of the matter is this has been four years of injuries.
Of injuries of wear and tear of plane throughout the off season and if ever there was a guy that needed to just shut it down and regroup for this following season here regardless of where that is I don't even want to open that cano worms yet.
It's right here and now like if anything this is the bucks trying to do well by y'all and say look we know there's a chance you may not be on this team next year.
But what if you injure yourself you know what does that mean for you what does that mean for your future and number one it means you you do side the extension and stay here in Milwaukee if you suffer some type of reagrevation there but like we're also looking out for your best interest here I don't know.
What spurred this right if this was the league proactively the players association proactively and you're there to saying hey what's happening here or if this is just.
One of the things that you tend to see whenever there's a divorce of any type now we're getting petty here.
That is the question that remains to be answered and I have some thoughts around that question Justin because this feels a little familiar this feels like a play that we have seen from a player that might have worn a bunch jersey over the last not this pass even.
Just where to get the fourth pick and draft a power forward.
It's filling familiar and I do want to kind of explore that because your point about how can we haven't seen this before for some other teams I think part of that reason is because the player in question.
Yeah honest while it might not be directly from him quote unquote as he has talked about throughout the season it feels like a play made by people who might have his best interest at heart I'll put it that way.
I would all right I'll I have a tip we'll get to that coming up after the break.

episode what I would say before you get to who it is I think I know who you're referring to parties that have
an interest in yana's I would say yes best interest implied I don't know that we've seen the best course of action throughout this season so I don't dispute that you have the best interest in your mind for your client but I think this is not every single piece of it including this potentially this is where we're at
it has been handled all that well and a matter of fact it's almost been a masterclass and what not to do when you're approaching these situations here the player in the situation that this evokes memories of I'm assuming it's a player that was with the team as of what may June this past year July whenever the July right yeah July
yeah Mr. Damien Lillard this this feels a lot like Dame's exit from Portland and I think we've talked about this a little bit off camera of like maybe you'd be kind of interesting to break someone in who was covering Portland around that time and just kind of talk about how that all unfolded prior to Dame's departure because it does feel very similar from what Portland with experience with Dame to what Milwaukee's experiencing now and I know some people would be like well hey Portland had control of their draft pick and it's like well yes the bugs don't have
control of their draft picked this year but they have one like they have one that is projecting to be very good because they will get the least
favorable between their own pick in New Orleans the best of those two picks will go to Atlanta but regardless it feels like to me that Yanis is upset that the team is trying to
shut him down so there's another avenue to try to get himself back on the court or to at least in in in the media have it on the record of hey I want to play and they are not letting me play and again we've already kind of gotten that first piece of that record with the articles that have come out based on the allegations and some sense that hey there's a power struggle right now in the
Bucks organization between folks in Oregon not wanting to play and then Yanis forcing and wanting to get back on the court and again all of that said I whole
heartedly agree with what you mentioned about while the intentions and Yanis's camp whoever this these people might be we've
heard makes messaging from from Yanis himself about who exactly I think we know people are right so all that said like I
just whatever is to come this summer and we know something is coming because we heard West Eden's owner of the Bucks make mention of hey either he's going to sign an extension or he's going to be traded we do not want Yanis playing on the last year of his contract here regardless of what happens I just don't want things to continue down this path where it's
getting weird where it's getting uncomfortable where it's bad will that starts to develop against Yanis like I've made the joke before but like I just want one Wisconsin MVP I if they exit please don't let it be weird like please let's not be
weird on the way out the door if we get to that point so yeah it feels a lot like Damon Portland and I definitely I think it's a good idea for us to kind of call
on some Portley books that we know to kind of get the skinny on how that all played out because it feels very very familiar in fairness and as one of the bigger supporters of his
what it wasn't a weird exit with Ryan Braun it was just there was a weird incident with
a lot yes yes itself was perfectly normal and fine I have some thoughts on what you mentioned to about the comments made by owner
ship about the future of Yanis but I'm going to save those for discord so you can see them there I there's one thing that really struck
me to make that point which I think we all agree with like okay good that we are trying to say we're not going to be caught in
the middle here either you're staying or you're leaving one of these two paths choose and we can move forward
there but one thing that really struck me about making that comment publicly so again well we'll have that
conversation on discord if you sign up for the every day or club it brings us to the other thing we wanted to touch on
today and that is ESPN put together their list of the 10 best and worst moves that have been made since the 2025

25 off season some of these were interesting in terms of the bit like the warriors retaining
the Anthony Melton was the number nine. Yeah best move okay off crowd huh that's what we're working
with yeah Tim hardaway junior to the nuggets was the number seven move where it's like oh so we're
really scraping the bottom of the barrel here for high impact moves the number one best move
was the hornet strafting con canipal and right now that's really tough to disagree with I mean
one that I don't was it even in here I mean how do you not have no how do you not have the sixers
drafting V.J. Edge come yeah I should be like I know it's it's mentioned in like the the con
canipal part but only about like hey they missed on drafting him because he went three to
to filly what look at the the impact that V.J. Edge come has had like I dare say that's
carried a stronger impact than the Anthony Melton with the golden state warriors but nonetheless
uh your best it was tough to really no real huge takeaways I don't disagree with con canipal
number one I'm guessing you don't either I mean the 76ers yeah I mean Jordan McCain being traded
to the thunder was number two that and that like we're just as you mentioned like oh uh
Edge come as I mentioned in the con canipal blurb and the number two move is the thunder extended
AJ Mitchell and trading for Jared McCain so we're just kind of lumping together anything we want
here but whatever so the good not a whole lot of takeaways there the bad is where a lot stood out
and again a lot of these were lower risk moves like number 10 was the calves trading for Lonzo
ball they gave up Isaac a Coro it was a deal that was worth making for what Cleveland needed especially
having lost tied Jerome and hoping that Lonzo could regain that form Isaac a Coro we've seen
and you know we've had the conversation if we know who this player is I think we know who Isaac
a Coro is in the playoffs magic signing Tias Jones that's another move that hasn't worked out
Gerson Yabu Selle to nowhere near the guy that we saw in filly with the nicks this year so that
made the list adorian finnie smith another guy that wow the lakers let him go and he goes to the
rockets not worked out um number six Dario charrett's and Dennis Schroeder and assigned and
traded the kings that frankly should have been higher yeah number six the raptors
especially here in Dennis Schroeder like talk about like you being promised things and things don't
work out as promised though and and as beef with Doug Christie the raptors extending Yaka
portal a move they did not have to do and jump the gun on I think that should have been higher up
there here's the thing um the number one I'm not going to bore you and read through all of these but
the number one move was the bucks waving and stretching Damien Lillard in order to sign Miles Turner
what I will say is this we've talked about it on the show before it hasn't looked great this year
yeah I would also withhold judgment until I see a fresh set of eyes on this situation
maybe some tweaks on how Miles Turner is utilized because I think there is some shared blame
in this um I think it's meant a tough adjustment for miles and I think if you would go back and
tell Miles Turner we'll give you a chance in a molecule here do you take the money from Indiana
or do you go through with this move like we've given you the benefit of here 70 games to see how it
works out I would be curious to see what his answer would be there to take the more money from
the box or to take a lesser offer and stay in Indiana but one of the reasons why I've said like I
just I need to see I just need to see a different environment and see how does this look then um
this year I mean we've talked about it Miles Turner's average shot distance is over 18 feet
longest of his career right bar in a way the longest of his career his career average is uh 14 feet
which it doesn't seem like oh well 14 18 it's a lot um if we just go year by year for miles last
year was 16 feet the year before that it was 13 the year before that it was 12 the year before
that it was 14 14 15 so he has perennially been 14 13 feet that he's taking because he is doing some
things around the rim he is taking those mid-range shots against drop defenses it will take three
this year it's almost entirely been threes that Miles Turner is taking and the comfort has just
never been there for him that much is clear from the start so I would like to see a new approach
and then we can judge it and say okay we tried something new this part didn't work like I think
there are some fair things to criticize the rebound it's not one of them to me like we kind of
knew what we were coming into or you should have and we made the point two of look you can
criticize brook lopas only gets four and a half rebounds per game brook lopas makes the box
a better rebounding team the Pacers numbers were better with miles on the floor but not to the levels
that the bucks were better with brook and I think we have seen that play out this season I think the
rim protection is fair to call him a question because sometimes when you lose it you lose it quick
and I think there is at least should be some elevated concern over is this the downswing of miles
as a rim protector but offensively I just don't think he was ever put in a position to succeed
this year I agree and it's one of those situations where two things can be true at the same time
right both Miles Turner did not perform on a level as expected this season and two I want to see
what it looks like with a different coaching staff I'll be a little bit more blunt with a different
coaching staff that that's working with him going forward and the thing about this move being the
move that ESPN ranks as the worst of the last year going back to the last off season and it's like
yes it did not work out this where this year and they were saying like it's on the list because
the bucks took the biggest risk of any team wise off season when they waved and stretched the
injured game and they've added all of this money onto their their books 22.5 million in dead cap
every single season through the 29 30 NBA season and as reporting has come out
actually a little less than that I know they have that in their story but because of James
offset I mean it's still about 20 million dollars but it's a little less than 22.5 well hey that's
good for the bucks because as we saw the salary cap projection for next year about a million less
than what was expected so saving all those dollars in any way does help but I don't think that
this is the worst move I think if you can look at it if you're judging just on this season say this
was a bad move fine I can I can understand that but I don't think that this move was worse than what
came in at number two on this list yeah it was the elecans trading their unprotected 2026 draft
pick to move up and 25 draft and I mean like that could still be the number one pick this year
yeah that you gave Atlanta two cracks at it to have the number one pick with that swap and they
gave up a portion of the pick next year too how is that is far and away the worst move on this list
agree agree like that that to me is the worst move because here's the thing even in the article
they go like they have the end for every section like is there hope and I'm like theoretically
Turner could rebound and be in a good stretch next to Yannis and the bugs could turn whatever
yes there there are still pathways but there's also room for that pelicans move to get even worse
because of what you said of where this draft pick actually conveys it and I do think it's funny that
the number three worst move was the Clippers repacing Norm Powell with Bradley Bill and Chris Paul
like there's all this talk around the bugs waving and stretching name and I get probably because
they were the first one to do it but there hasn't been as much conversation around what's sitting on
the sun's cat books as well with them waving and stretching Bradley Bill in that contract so
it's one of those things like yes this is a subjective thing that's why you make lists is to get
the people going is to get the conversation going and it worked we're talking about it but I will
stand on I don't think that the bugs waving and stretching name albeit you can say it's a bad move
and I'd agree to a certain aspect of that I just don't think it's worse than what the pelicans did
draft night 20-25 yeah it didn't work out this year we could work out we could be the team
it's 26 and a half million next year it's 27.8 the following year it's 29.1 in the player option
year in 28.29 the production you've gotten has not been 25 to 26 million dollars this year neither
of us are trying to say that it has been but again I would just say let's let's see we've I've
mentioned the sun's quite a bit recently on the show for you know a lot of reasons but
same story right like if if the books were the seven seed right now would this be number one on
the list you know even with Miles Turner putting up the same numbers if the books are the seven seed
no it's not the number one worst as far as the phoenix comparison it's comparable but I think look
number one phoenix is winning right and they made those trades to bring in Dylan Brooks who has a
descending contract that's basically the same as Kyle Kuzma's and I don't really love getting
into the jalen green business I mean what happens if jalen green is perpetually injured
and you're attached to the 36 million dollars next year and then you have to make a decision
the following year and potentially pay him a lot more when you're already paying Devin Booker
60 plus million dollars so it all has to do with what your team level of success is the books are not
the 11 team in the east because Miles Turner is disappointed just as the sons are not the what
17 in the west now because Dylan Brooks reignited the culture there's been a lot of things that
attributed to both of those and I just keep coming back to let's see how different things are next
year let's see how different the usage is for Miles Turner and even if we're having to have the
conversation of boy I don't think he's he's a 27 million dollar a year player fine but I'm willing
to bet it's going to at least be closer to a 20 million dollar player then right now a lot of
nights you're talking about Jericho Sims at three plus million dollars has been the better option
for you which that frankly cannot happen and I think we are going to see a very different version
of Miles Turner next year for a number of reasons but yeah I mean again you look no further than Phoenix
for these things and say see how quickly things can change for the better yeah when all you do
is say here's what we're going to do we're going to find what our identity is and we're going to
lean into it we're going to do this this and this we're going to pressure the ball we're going to
rebound and we're just going to play a more modern style approach here and look what it did for the
sons in a tougher conference so let's see what it does for the box if they're able to do the same thing
this upcoming that summer here but leave your thoughts on where you would rank that because I
got to be honest Camille just looking at a lot of the discourse around Miles Turner and I would
guess a lot of our listeners and bucks fans would leave that as number one of the worst moves but
I'm curious to see what the split is there in terms of what was the worst move made in this
offseason same same and I will we'll be checking the comments in the discord of course so make sure
you shine for the every day or club as well but yeah I mean it's one of those things to where you
really want to be able to tell which is why this is always just a fun exercise to go through and
for a couple more years so Derek Queen hits in a way where it's like hey it doesn't even matter
because they got their guy then you've got your guy but right now to me that looks like a
worst move than what the bucks did yeah um all right leave your thoughts on the best and worst
one who cares about the best we know we didn't have to leave your thoughts on the worst moves what you
make of the NBA PA coming to the defense of Yannis and Dedekumpo and as we wrap here Camille I just
keep going back to June 2nd of 2025 when the Utah Jazz held a press conference to name a new
president of basketball operations Austin Angel coincidentally the son of Danny Angel
and the comments that were made on the day us there at his introduction that
we will not be tanking the tank is all in 25 26 season we don't need to do that in a loaded western
conference we're no longer putting our thumb on the scale hmm hmm funny how things change ain't it
I'm sure about that um yeah so leave your thoughts on Yannis versus the box or the NBA PA versus
the bucks and the worst moves that we've seen in the offseason that'll do it for today's show we
do still have to get to you mentioned it the uh the change and the cap figures that came down just
the other day and what impact that could bring to the bucks and teams where the bucks currently are
so we'll get into that coming up a little bit on tomorrow's show also recap what goes down in
Portland the final game of the road trip and uh a face to face with what you uh basically hinted
at reminding you of what we're seeing with Yannis so we'll get into that conversation coming up
on tomorrow's show a reminder to use the code march when you sign up for the every day or club and
you get a month for free you get at free episodes of locked on bucks access to the discord as well
