The San Francisco Giants have had just about the worst start to the 2026 season that you could ask for, and their terrible play continued today as they fell to the New York Yankees 3-1. The win gives the Yankees a sweep over the San Francisco Giants to start the year, and the offense has been the main culprit for the bad baseball in the Bay. While the San Francisco Giants were finally able to muster more than just a couple of hits, they shrank in the biggest moments of today's game and failed to deliver the big hit they needed.

Don't forget, we got Locked on 49ers Squad Show every Wednesday and Friday for you with
Dwayne Bourd and Air Tenozzly.
But today, man, the Giants, they continue to sputter out of the gate, start the 2026 season
falling today to the Yankees 3-1, and they've officially been swept at home to start off
what looks like another long year in San Francisco.
While the offense finally broke through and scored their very first run of the season,
it's the third game of the season.
They couldn't get more than just that one run, and this offense feels lifeless again,
which it felt like for most of last year and the year before and the year before and
so on and so forth.
The Giants today failed in multiple key situations offensively, including in the ninth inning
when they have the tie run on base.
And Buckle up Giants fans, it looks like we are going to be in for another turbulent
ride with this team in 2026.
We'll break it all down.
But first, I want to thank all of you for watching us on the Lockdown Giants YouTube

Alan Styles does a great job.
And we'll get them on eventually.
Alan and I are scheduled to be really off, so we're trying to find a time when we can
do a crossover episode for you guys.
But man, the Giants and this one, let's just get into it because early on,
you had situations that were upsetting.
And those situations continue to show up throughout this game.
Ramos, in the top of the third inning, he kind of makes up for this situation.
But the first inning, he ends the first inning with a bad strikeout, runner on third.
And we've seen this happen multiple times over and over and over again with different players
on this team.
It hasn't really been Ramos too much so far this season.
I think he's actually been one of the better appats that the Giants have had in this
order so far.
But in this case, he was just like everybody else.
He does make up for it a little bit.
In the top of the third inning, I'll get to that in just a second.
But before we talk about what Ramos did to kind of lessen what the Yankees were doing
in the third, we got to talk about the things that the Yankees were able to do that put
them out in front of this one.
Trent Grisham, after a walk, he then later in the inning with two outs, Belinger singles,
Rice, then doubles.
He did both Belinger and Grisham score, then Stanton singles to Ramos, looks like Rice
is going to score on the play and Ramos to his credit.
This was probably the highlight of the game for the Giants throws Rice out, trying to score
from second base just an absolute missile to home plate, which I will say for all the
bad things about the Giants defense so far this season.
This was something nice to see, Elliott Ramos, who I think a lot of us have that scud
missile that he threw from left field last year in our brains permanently, where he crow
hopped and threw the ball about three feet in front of him straight into the grass.
I've never seen anything like that on a major league baseball field, and I'm sure a lot
of us have not forgotten that.
I know I haven't.
We've also seen Elliott Ramos take a lot of really questionable routes to baseballs
in the outfield.
And so far, I haven't seen much of that stuff from him.
And this throw gives me a little bit of hope for the guy that maybe he can actually hold
down left field.
He has the physical tools to do it.
He should be able to do it.
It's a mental thing with him out there, and he just needs to be able to see the ball
off the bat well, make good reads, and just play freely.
And I think that will help him out a lot with, with blood field and defensively, which
would help this team out overall.
Ultimately, the Giants, they need more help offensively than defensively right now.
I mean, defensively, you've had some, some small issues.
I mean, Adamus has not looked very good at short stuff.
But ultimately, together as a whole, this team has looked like absolute dog water offensively.
I mean, the Giants finally scored their first run of the season after a jungly double
and a match atman single drop him in in the bottom of the third.
Great.
Awesome.
Just for that, because there wasn't much else today for the Giants, we can go ahead right
now.
Just give match atman our player at the game.
Just for that one at bat.
This is the walk done player of the game.
And how sad is it that the player of the game for the Giants, one for four, one RBI?
That's it.
Match atman.
That's it.
I mean, he's had some nice defensive plays to start the year.
But man, it has been rough watching this team at the dish.
And they didn't do anything else the rest of the game that one run was it.
Aaron Judge, just for good measure, gave the Yankees an insurance run in that fifth inning.
He's blasted his second home run of the series, went into the tunnel and bounced off the
top of the Giants ambulance that sits out there waiting just in case anything goes wrong
with anyone on the field.
And put a nice little debt in the top of that thing.
Bottom six, Giants had a great opportunity with runners at the corners and nobody out.
And Willie Adamis, who has been one of the worst offensive Giants so far this year,
where's Giants all around so far, maybe?
I mean, Willie Adamis has been horrible in the field, horrible at the dish.
We know that Willie is going to take until probably middle of April at best, most likely
May to really get going.
This is what he does every year.
It's his same trajectory.
But my God, are these first couple of months really painful to watch?
And you hope he can catch fire at some point and just ride that for the rest of the season.
But I don't expect him to turn it around until maybe early May, middle of April.
I mean, middle of May at the absolute latest.
But then these next couple of months are going to be a tough watch for Willie Adamis.
And he strikes out in this situation after falling off an O-Watt meatball just served up
on a platter, just fouled it straight back.
And then strikes out swinging on a pitch that is a foot outside the zone probably would
have hit a left-handed batter.
That slider was just, I mean, didn't even start in the strike zone.
I don't even know what he was looking for on that one, Bader.
Then grams into an inning, ending double play, nobody scores in the inning.
And Harrison Bader, well, he wasn't done disappointing Giants fans today because in the
ninth inning, after Ramos kind of generates a little bit of buzz.
He walks after challenging, called strike three and winning.
And then Adamis picks up his very first hit of the season.
And in this scenario, if you're Harrison Bader, you've got to put together a good at that.
You've got to figure out at the very least a way to get both of those runners into scoring
position.
I mean, you've got to get just anything, anything to move these guys over.
Lay down a butt if you have to.
I mean, the Giants could definitely use some butts on this roster the way that they're
just horrible at situational hitting.
Instead, Harrison Bader decides to strike out after swinging at two pitches up at his
eyeballs, which this team, I've seen so many guys on this team swing at pitches at or above
their shoulder level this season.
I have no idea what the hell they're going over in training camp and in spring training
and what they're doing as far as coming up with a plan at the play offensively because
it doesn't look like these guys have one.
Maybe they're looking for something up so that they can try and drive it, but my God, there's
a difference between looking for something up and just swinging at whatever the hell comes
across the play.
So they got to really figure out how to get this entire lineup to stop chasing eye pitches.
It is becoming really obnoxious.
So anyways, after you get that nice fun strike out, Pat Bailey comes up and promptly grounds
into a game ending series ending double play to cement the giants getting swept at home
to start the season and how poetic is that, right?
Like you get the worst batter in this entire lineup as the last last gas breath for the
giants in this series to maybe scratch across a another run, a win potentially.
Maybe just send this one to extras just for the fun of it before the Yanke is eventually
win this one.
No, no, no, just end this properly with a strike out in a double play with two really bad
at bats.
And this is just something that's going to continue for the giants.
I don't have a lot of confidence that this is going to turn around or be any different.
We've seen so many guys come in and out of this organization these last few years and
the results are the same.
It feels the same as when Nick Ahmed, it was at shortstop and Jorge Salera was in DH slash
left field.
He just make it horrible plays and doing boneheaded things on the bases and just striking out
constantly.
And it feels the same.
It feels the same.
Those names have changed to William Thomas and Raphael Devers and you're getting the
same results.
Devers, I should mention, did have a couple good at bats in this game.
He was two for four.
How did an extra base hit?
He had a double in this one.
He was part of that situation where he had runners at first and third and couldn't
score him.
So very frustrating for the giants yet again.
And Tyler Molley, who I feel like pitch pretty not pretty well.
He was okay.
He was serviceable in this one.
I wish he could have gone another inning.
He's going to need to throw a few more strikes for that to happen.
You threw 80 pitches, only 50 of them were strikes and that's not the quite the ratio
you want.
But you want to maybe see if you can get that fifth inning for his first start of the
year.
I don't think he was too bad.
Four innings pitched, did give up five hits, only gave up two or and runs, one walk
and five strikeouts.
I'll take that from my third starter, who we've had just a giant question mark about
going into the season anyway.
So Tyler Molley hasn't shown you anything to get you super excited yet, but he also hasn't
shown you anything to get super worried about either this offense on the other hand.
I am very worried about it.
And on the other side, I think I got a solution for you guys.
I think it's a solution that most giants fans have probably thought of.
So we'll talk about that next on the other side of the lockdown giant's postcast.
What can fix this giant's offense, don't go anywhere.

Welcome back to the locked on giants post cast.
I'm your host Eric triple E angle and the giants man disappointing families everywhere since I don't know for quite a while now making life fortress for a lot of giants fans out out in the world, but especially these last few years.
Things have been really hard watching this offense this team hasn't just been bad it has been boring and that is almost worse than being bad like you can't be a boring sports team man entertainment is the name of the game.
This team is just not very entertaining right now it gave you not a lot to cheer for you.
The one thing that feels different about this team is that you have guys you have these big name guys to root for.
But this team is still missing one big name guy that we have been sitting in hearing about for for what feels like years now even though it really hasn't been that long he's risen up through the minor leagues super super super fast faster than almost anyone else has before in the giants organization.
Of course I am talking about Bryce eldritch who a lot of people thought thought should have started the season with the big league club and.
I mean I was at the game on on Monday the exhibition game last week on Monday where Bryce eldritch hit his first home run at Oracle Park even though it did not count obviously as a regular season home run.
The first time you saw the ball go over the fence at that field and he talked about it a little bit after that he said that it felt great it just like you know the light bulb kind of went on for him.
And you can't tell me watching Casey schmitz at that's that you don't want Bryce eldritch on this team I get it maybe the kids still has some things he needs to work on I guarantee you he can work on those things at the major league level.
I don't know what else he needs to prove to you in triple a there there's nothing that guy needs to do in triple a to prove to you he's ready for major league baseball.
What he needs is a long runway you need to bring him up understand that the kid is going to struggle he's going to have a really hard time hitting pitches for a little while it's an adjustment.
He saw Roman Anthony one of the best prospects in major league baseball last year struggle for an extended period of time trying to hit the baseball.
What price do the same thing rip the bandaid off get him up here get him in this line up and I mean he's going to give you an injection of youth of energy of power which this team so desperately needs I mean there is just nothing offensive for this team right now I mean I they can't get the ball out of the infield half of these at that's.
It's it's pathetic watching this team try to hit Bryce Eldridge is sitting right there there is no reason for him to be in Sacramento right now I mean this kid we we know that he is the truth for the Giants like that that is what we've been told at least for a while now like this guy is the number one prospect in the system you see him rising through that you know the national prospect rankings the last few years.
Yeah I know he struggled at the end of last season he's going to struggle he's what 21 years old bring him up let him struggle and let him figure it out that is part of the process the one thing the one thing I don't want to see is them bringing him up and sending them back down and send bringing them up and sending them back down which is exactly how they destroyed prospects in the past I'm shocked that Elliott Ramos still worked out but that's you know it's why Luis Matos didn't work out they did that how many times with Luis Matos ran out of options they had it.
DFA him horrible horrible decision by this team I think personally I think Luis Matos could have given you a lot I don't know why keeping a 30 year old career minor leader is a better choice than Luis Matos but hopefully it works out you've seen Marco Luciano kind of suffer from some of those same things that amongst other situations you know issues with Marcos Luciano the we're not exactly great but you know bringing them up and sending him down a hundred times did not help either but when you.
But when you, I really think back to, I think it was last season when Louise Mottos,
you know, it was a couple of seasons ago when Junghu Lee dislocated the shoulder.
And Louise Mottos came up and you heard Bob Melvin go in front of the media and say,
this is our centerfielder.
And tell things change, you know, until, until something's different,
Louise Mottos is our centerfielder for the foreseeable future.
And two weeks later, he was back in Sacramento.
And that just destroys the young kids confidence.
You cannot do that kind of stuff to Bryce Eldridge.
You cannot afford to, to F around and find out with Bryce Eldridge.
This guy is way too valuable of a prospect.
But again, you need him on this team.
You desperately need something on this team.
And that's the most obvious that's the first lever you should pull.
This kid is ready.
He's ready. Let him show what he can do at the big league level.
Let him have a long runway to figure it out and get him on this team.
Casey Schmitt's not doing it, man.
This neither is the rest of the lineup.
But Casey Schmitt, batten, a nice 0.000 this year so far.
Still is yet to find his first hit.
And I like Casey Schmitt.
I think he's a guy who's going to end up having a decent season.
Might end up surprising people with 15 to 20 home runs, honestly,
which seems like a lot.
I don't expect him to have a high batting average.
I do expect him to run into a few though because he's got some pop.
But Bryce Eldridge will give you more than, you know, batten,
two 10 or two 15 and, you know, a dozen bombs.
I think Bryce Eldridge will give you more than that if you give him the runway
for the entire season.
So I really do think that that is what this team needs to do.
And I really think that's what you're going to be talking about after this one as well.
This is what you'll be talking about.
And it's really frustrating that we're already at this point this season.
We're three games into the season.
We're talking about roster changes, but that's where you're going to be.
If you look this awful to start the year, I cannot remember a giant scene
that has looked this bad to start the year in my lifetime.
I am 32 years old.
I cannot remember a time in my life that I have seen the giants start this slow.
It's I know that it's expected to an extent, but my God, this is painful.
And I saw the very first comment on this on this show today.
Hoping the Yankees are just that good and that we're not terrible.
Man, me too, but you're going to have a lot of tough tests coming up.
You got the myths.
You got the Phillies.
You got the Padres all coming up very, very soon.
All of these teams are good baseball teams.
All of these teams on paper, better than the giants.
So we will see how they stack up against these other, you know,
against these other very quality teams.
I don't think it's going to look pretty.
I don't think the giants are going to look any better offensively.
And maybe they'll, you know, be better than scratch and one across in an entire three game series.
But are they going to be able to outpace the Metz offense?
Are they going to be able to outpace the Padres offense?
What about the Phillies?
I am no.
The answer is no.
Like the short answer simply.
So by the way, Dodgers not too far away either in the month of April.
So you got a lot of games coming up against some very good teams.
And you could find yourself in a gigantic hole very early on.
If you don't figure this out quick.
So figure it out, get Bryce Eldridge up on this team.
And I'm getting frustrated at this point.
I really understand that it's only three games into the season.
Trust me, I get it.
There's 159 other games.
But so far they're on pace to be 0 and 162.
And this offense is on pace to score one run per three game series.
So that is not very good.
It's more of what we've seen in the past.
Just continuing to echo through the start of this season.
And until I see a reason to not think that this team is going to fail in these big moments at that.
There's no reason for me to think otherwise.
I 100% need to be proven wrong at this point.
I don't the giants have lost all good will with me as far as like giving them time to figure it out.
They'll just wait until March or the end of March when when guys really start to get in a groove or just wait till Willie comes around.
Maybe the beginning of May and it will be fine.
No, I have not seen that yet.
I've not seen that from this team.
I was waiting all last season for Willie to figure it out.
I was waiting all last season for for Devers to figure it out for Chapman to figure it out.
And each one of these guys had little streaky parts of the season where they played well.
But overwhelmingly, they really didn't deliver what we thought they were going to deliver.
And they certainly weren't able to all do it at the same time.
You need multiple guys playing good baseball at the same time and not having extended stays on the entry list, not having extended.
You know slumps at bat where you're you're batting 100 for a whole month.
You can't have that and that's all that I've been seeing from this giants team over this last year over these last several years at this point.
So we didn't have a ton of time to get into Tyler Malley today.
I like I said earlier though, I didn't think anything really stood out that was super bad or super good about him.
I thought it was a serviceable start against a pretty quality offense.
Would have liked to see him go another inning, throw more strikes.
It's about all I got on him today.
Giants, they'll be back in action on Monday.
Remember they get the off day tomorrow because they started this series on Wednesday.
So this this game with this series with the Yankees wrapped up.
Giants get an off day.
They'll be back at it on Monday.
And so will we with the locked on Giants postcast coming to you live on Monday.
And hopefully the Giants offense comes to you live on Monday as well instead of hitting the damn snooze button.
I like they've been doing all season long so far.
It's all the time that we got for you guys today.
Thanks so much for tuning in.
We'll see you next time.
